Newport’s naval history is second to none in the U.S. and this is a must visit that’s often overlooked.

Located in historic Founders Hall, the NWC covers the evolution and technology of sea warfare, including the development of the torpedo in the US. Serving as a clearinghouse for naval history information in New England, the Museum staff provide guidance to visitors on regional naval history and current exhibits, and assist scholarly researchers in the use of the Museum holdings. Those visitors without base access (active/retired/dependent military ID or CAC) must make arrangements at least seven business days prior to your visit. Any visitor who is escorted by personnel with U.S. military identification, does not need advanced reservations. See website for additional information.
