Right outside your door! TRAIL MAPS LOCATED ON THE CONCIERGE TABLE. Current home of the RIDEM Division of Fish & Wildlife. This +3,200 acre property includes miles of trails, through a variety of inland habitats. Managed for wildlife & purchased with funds generated by taxes on hunting gear, the property includes farmland formerly owned by Benedict Arnold Sr., father of the famous traitor. Following the Royal Charter of 1663, Benedict Sr. was named the first governor of the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. He is buried on Pelham St., in Newport, where his former stone windmill, known as the Newport Tower still stands as an important landmark.
