The Van Wyck family farm was the base for George Washington's army during the American Revolution once the British had driven them off the island of Manhattan. With the best defensible ridge to the south, this was a safe and secure location for training our revolutionary soldiers and plotting strategy for Washington's eventual victory over the British forces.
