Chalet vacation rentals in Western Maryland

It was really lovely to see the Cuckoo Chalet at this tme of year. The Deer would walk through the yard in the morning, and it was like being in observatory. We could eatch the Canda Geese at play on thelake. A wonderful time. The house if so cozy!

Cheryl was a very responsive host with a beautiful venue -- it was private and peaceful but still close to the lake and a short drive to local coffee shops, breweries, and pizza. My kids got a kick out of the lofted bunk beds an spiral staircase. It was helpful that there was onsite laundry. Would stay again!

I wanted to rebook this cabin just a few minutes into our stay! This was a perfect home base for a weekend getaway to Ohiopyle State Park. The hosts were exceptionally welcoming to our family, including our dog! Needless to say, we will be back.

We had a wonderful time! Michael was a great host and the home is absolutely beautiful! Really loved the beautiful views and how stocked the kitchen was. Small extras like a Bluetooth speaker and card games made our stay comfortable and home like. Would definitely stay here again!

Just the place for a nice family getaway! Beautiful home with lots of amenities. The home is very spacious and comfortable. The living room with the 4 recliners was very nice and used for our family game nights. My 8 yr old granddaughter especially loved the ping pong table along with the keyboard in the lower level. Jenny was quick to respond to any questions we had. The winery she suggested was a lovely atmosphere for our Saturday afternoon. Our Saturday night outside fire 🔥 with s’mores topped off our night. I highly suggest this property to anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway.

Our stay was so amazing and memorable! Hosts were extremely helpful and communicative every step of the way. Very much felt safe and comfortable like a home. What a beautiful property and the woods surrounding was a sight of its own. Hoping to rent from them again in the future!

House was fantastic. Great place for a weekend with friends. The grill, hot tub, fire pit, and pool table were a hit. Great view and minutes to the lake.

The view was absolutely incredible! We had a great stay with our friends and our baby. Only minor drawback had nothing to do with the home itself or the hosts; some previous guests had not followed cleaning instructions (super nitpicky: just a couple dishes with food residue put away and a blanket covered in dog fur was folded and put back in the closet.) The home was in short driving distance of a good number of restaurants and groceries, and we enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and down to the dock! Lovely stay!

We had 11 guys stay at David’s place and were incredibly satisfied with the stay. The location was great and the cabin comfortable. There was always something to do.

This was the perfect spot to visit with family. Extremely comfortable home in a private, wooded area. We saw tons of deer and enjoyed sitting in the hot tub amongst the woods watching a stunning sunset in the snow. Campfire was great with a smokeless fire pit which was perfect for s’mores! I can’t say enough about the kitchen!!!! It was stunning and HUGE!!! Well appointed with everything we needed. We will definitely be back here for our kids wedding.

Such a peaceful place! You can sit outside and listen to the birds without a lot of traffic or town noise. But it was still close enough that you can get to downtown Front Royal in 10 minutes, which was also very charming! It was spotless, tastefully decorated, and all the light coming in created a very calming atmosphere - perfect for a relaxing getaway!

Wow, this is a great house and a perfect location. Right on the river where we fished, kayaked, waded (a little cold for swimming) and generally hung out on the riverbank and played nonstop for 2 days with a bunch of little kids. And then just 15 mins or less from groceries in Luray and 30-45 mins up to the 211 entrance into Shenandoah for hiking. The house was terrific and this kitchen had everything we needed for cooking all our meals. Not those crappy secondhand thrift store pots and pans that are missing lids or covered in gunk you find in a lot of places, always missing that one thing you need to make your meal. Plus little things like collanders and cheese graters. The beds were terrific and the beautiful wall of windows was the perfect compliment to the big room (plus toy room upstairs) where we spent most of our indoor time. We'd come back here in a heartbeat and would hope to find our way here this summer when we can do more swimming. Thanks!!

Our group of 13 which had 3 families with 7 kids really enjoyed this house. Our favorite part was the location to skiing. Although not officially a ski-in/ski-out, the slopes were within walking distance and much easier for our younger skiers to access. The house was clean, fully stocked and provided enough beds for our large group. Would definitely recommend bringing your 4WD vehicle if snow is predicted during your stay as the driveway is a little steep. We plan to book again for our next Hidden Valley trip!

I had a terrific stay! The property is clean, and in great shape; Melanie does a great job of keeping everything organized. The location is terrific and is as described (30 second walk to the water) and there are restaurants in very close walking distance (one to two minutes). I look forward to staying here again—thank you very much!

Lake Effect was the perfect place for our family vacation. The family enjoyed it, we spent most of our time on the dock enjoying the lake and weather, which was amazing. Since I had to work a couple of hours a day before truly vacationing, the internet was somewhat an issue until I found out that if you are streaming on Samsung, the WiFi will be very in and out... so just don't turn on the TV until you are done with work or Streaming using the WiFi. Not sure also, it could have been Comcast, seeing that they have been having issues with their internet services throughout the state and Pa. We certainly were pleased and Paul and his wife were outstanding... We will be back. The Latchford's - Greg and Helen and Family
