“For the past few years I’ve been traveling to Cuyuna Country State Recreational Area for one reason - mountain biking. Unfortunately this year, due to COVID-19, I had to make the trip on my own, instead of with a couple other buddies. Fortunately that led me to Sandy’s one bedroom place in Crosby! The location is ideal, just blocks away from an entry into the mountain bike trails and even next-door to a great bike shop (Red Raven). There is enough going on in Crosby that I never once had to get in my car and drive anywhere. I don’t know where my buddies are going to stay next time we all go up to Cuyuna, but I know where I’m staying :-)”
This is a 24 X 40 foot knotty pine cabin with a very open floor plan. It sleeps a family of 4-6 nicely. It is located on great fishing lake that connects to the mighty Mississippi. It is in the heart of the Cuyuna State Park Area and all of the bike trails! A very peaceful UPNORTH location with breathtaking sunsets. The loons will hypnotize you with their calls. I travel a lot and make this cabin available when I am away. There are some kayaks and SUP's available, too!
“I spent seven nights at Todd's cabin. If this place looks good to you in the listing, be aware - it's better. (Unlike some places we've all stayed.) The responsiveness to questions before, after and during booking was exceptional. It's very clear that he has a genuine interest in the guests enjoying themselves and getting the most out of the area. He's a truly fantastic Airbnb host. The cabin was spotless and comfortable. There's a large flatscreen with Netflix and Prime as well as an Echo device, which was really nice to have for local weather updates, music, etc. Plenty of supplies as far as cookware, bathroom supplies, etc. The space is very large. Be aware that, other than the bathroom, it is all an open plan. The living room area and bedroom area are divided by double closets that jut in to the space, but there is no separate "bedroom" with a door, etc. The only other thing I'd mention that I can't recall from the listing is that there are a couple of steps up in to the cabin in both the front and the back, so it's probably not a good choice for a wheelchair or someone with significant mobility issues. If that's not you, you should definitely book this place. The place is "in a neighborhood" which was a small concern for me during booking. I didn't really want to be in a busy area. Not a problem at all. Todd's property is the last one on a dead end street and is immediately adjacent to the state park. Walk out the patio doors, make a right and walk 10 steps....you're in the woods. The lake is large and just a few steps away with two docks available to fish off of or if you have a boat. There are a couple of kayaks and a paddleboard available for your use. We had a couple of storms during the trip. Even during those, the lake was pretty calm. it's really perfect to get out on the water. The gas grill was nice to have and we made good use of the shaded garden area and fire pit. Just a couple of other things to know. There are not "services" within walking distance. You'll go to Crosby (10 minutes or so) for food, gas, etc. (Oars N Mine is an EXCELLENT bait shop.) If you need a Walmart or something similar, the other direction is Brainerd which is probably 15-20 minutes. The mosquitos can get pretty thick near the water around dark, so come prepared. I would book this again without reservation.”
Located just 2 blocks from Main Street, in a quiet neighborhood, this 'miners house' has all you need to enjoy your stay during your Cuyuna Adventure. The house is on a large lot with off street parking, close to the MTB trails, and all Crosby has to offer! Enjoy your days end with a bonfire or relax inside with the Smart TV/WIFI. Come see us at Red Raven in the AM for a cup of complimentary coffee and if you need a bike rental or paddleboard we're your place!
“Exactly as stated. Cute, cozy older home but that just adds to its charm. All the amenities one would expect from a super host. Beautiful yard and sweet sunroom to enjoy as well. Bike trails are close and so is everything you would want in a small town. We will return.”
