This is a special place on a special island. We visited Salina, Vulcano and Filicudi during our stay, but Alicudi has a charm of its own. Rebecca met us at the port and we found the village shop had all we needed. The mule carried up our luggage, and we challenged ourselves on the famous stairs. They are tough, but the views are wonderful and you get to see village life as you pass each house on the way up. Our house had incredible views, and we loved the choice of shade or sun on the terraces. It was tranquil and private. The house was very well equipped and we cooked most evenings. We bough fish from Ugo at the port which was delicious, and enjoyed lemon granita at the cafe to help us up the hill. We also did some challenging hikes to watch the sunset, and reach the highest point on the island. It felt like we were in a faraway corner of the world - in the best way! Thank you Rebecca for all your help during our stay.

The goat house is very well situated, ab good way up, but not too much. You should still expect a few hundred steps when coming from the port. The reward is a spectacular view on the see, Filicudi, Salina, Lipari, Vulcano, Stromboli, but also the port and it's houses. The sounds or better silence of the island are mind boggling. The terrace is partly covered, so you can sit outside whether it is sunny or raining. The two living/sleeping rooms are big enough to also stay inside when necessary. The kitchen and shower are a great experience on its own. Very stilish renovated older rooms. Enough hot water, a washing machine, moskito nets on all windows: the daily amenities are all covered. Everything was clean. The only thing I could critizise are some older products left in kitchen and bath from former guests. But this was really a minor point, we had a fantastic time on Alicudi!

The villa is located in the most beautiful part of Alicudi, it has been recently restored, it is well cared for in detail and equipped with everything you need, to be on such a particular island. Paolo and his point of contact Anna have always been readily available to any questions or concerns. I recommend, to all people who like to walk (about 35 min from the port and ONLY uphill), to stay here, where their eyes fill with sky, sea and wonderful stars. In Alicudi you have to earn everything, walking and sweating, it is not an island suitable for everyone, it is an island that selects its guests in departure but the view from the terrace of Paolo's villa, undoubtedly pays off, every step done! Practical information: in addition to your personal expense, which you will have to do in port as soon as you get off the ferry, remember to ask what you will find in the house of necessity and what you should buy down, before going up, because the first time you do that climb, you won't want to do it right away
