Our self contained open plan Koru cabin (that sleeps 5) offers the perfect getaway escape for families & couples. Perfectly located between rainforest and the ocean with only a two minute walk (past historic gold dredge ponds) to the beach. Mussels can be gathered off the rocks at low tide, or you may be lucky and pick up pounamu (jade.) Soak in our outdoor hot tub & snuggle up in front of the log burner fire in the cooler months. Breakfast included.
“We had a fantastic stay in the cabin! The wood burning fire was so cozy in the evenings and the hot tub was a wonderful touch after busy days of exploring! The location is perfect and walking distance to the beach. Nigel and Karen were great hosts and gave us lots of tips and trips for local activities!”
Only metres from Motukiekie Beach with its sea stacks and starfish (Search for images of Motukiekie). Away from the commercial hustle and bustle of touristy Punakaiki but only a short scenic drive away. Tucked in native bush, waterfalls tumble down the cliffs. Great sea views. Lovely garden. A perfect peaceful base. Unspoilt beach and beautiful sunsets. You may stumble upon seals on your walks along the beach. Occasionally we see little blue penguins. Stay a bit longer you will be glad you did.
“A great spot! Bed was very comfortable, WiFi worked perfectly, and the kitchen and space had everything we needed. It was just a few steps from the beach, which has stunning rock formations. The hospitality was spot on and we had a wonderful time. Definitely need to stay here if you can!”
The Bush Hideaway is a lovely relaxing private holiday house, about 10kms from Punakaiki and the famous pancake rocks. Set on 12 acres of spectacular West Coast rainforest, it has some views to the Tasman sea, from the deck, though primarily a bush setting. On a clear day you can see Mt Cook! Spacious, warm & airy in summer, cosy and warm in winter with a log burner. Plenty of indoor and outdoor living spaces with free wifi. Built in the 1990's for a much travelled wonderful woman.
“We loved our stay. It was just an overnight stop but felt like longer. The house was perfectly positioned, sparkling clean and ready for us on arrival. We came from doing the caving and glow worm tour in Charleston.... if you hadn’t planned to do this it is a MUST and worth the trip on its own... Robyn’s place is the perfect overnight stop before or after this tour.”
