“Quiet and relaxing lodge”
“This vast and lovely very old dovecote has been restored and fitted out by Cécile and Yannick with taste and intelligence. They braved the impressive high ceilings to install a superb frame of beams and carefully plug the bolts that were to be. There remains an impressive quantity of open boules which keep its authenticity at the site. We would like to be good little plump pigeons to nest there. But as we are too fat, we sleep in absolute calm on the third level on a cozy mezzanine in very comfortable bedding. Just below is a large kitchen opening onto a terrace on the side of the Saumur-Champigny vineyards and onto a garden with a wooden annex, attached to the dovecote, for very appreciable use of the laundry room where we have everything available for his laundry, down to anti-discoloration wipes! On the same floor, a large and well heated shower room / wc. Besides, the whole dovecote is wonderfully heated thanks to quality radiators which the hosts are not satisfied with since the large room on the ground floor is happily embellished with a wood stove (wood which is carefully looked after that we always have enough!) which just makes you want to spend your days on the sofa in a warm hermitage. The whole is well equipped, Cécile and Yannick being real hosts who take care of our comfort and are friendly, available and helpful. Their charming old house is a little further on the ground so that one does not feel isolated in this pretty countryside, while enjoying the intimate space of the dovecote. In the surroundings, with undeniable charm, a quiet neighborhood and many natural historic sites to discover. Large supermarkets and other amenities in several villages around, and the beautiful Saumur to discover 25 minutes by car. The villages of Montsoreau and Candes on the banks of the Loire, with moving charm, are close and quality concerts are given in the impressive setting of Fontevraud Abbey (fans of Baroque music, all of the Arts Florissants there product!). Cookie, the fiery and above all kind dog watches over the place while the little cat is not against a hug. This little rascal would like to take his ease at the dovecote but he is invited to stay on the threshold so that allergic vacationers have nothing to fear. It is not at Cécile and Yannick that we will find cat hair trailing on the duvets and the sofa! I will finish my comment looking like a real estate ad (:-)) with this slightly easy pun, but I can't resist it: at Cécile and her lovely family, the hosts are not "pigeons", in this dovecote who cannot disappoint and where we are greeted with sincere smiles and efficiency which should inspire some tourism professionals! For my part I understand how much Du Bellay, because it is fortunate that after my beautiful trip I will find "my Loire Gaulois" and my "Angevin pain" by adoption, thanks to the dovecote of my hosts with whom I quickly decided to come back and so much for a month and a half!”
