“A DREAM LOCATION! But be careful, not for everyone !! You have to be certain "luxury" Take a shower etc something but everything else is more everything a compensation! David is a great host and the place / stay is a dream to enjoy the tranquility. There is a café down on the beach, but it only opens at 12:00. I already miss it and will come again. David built everything himself and everything from "second hand". Electricity etc are generated from solar cells .. you could write so much .. David, we'll be back!”
Typical house in a small village, surrounded by centenary windmills. Quiet location, good sun exposure, ample and fenced garden space. Barbecue area to enjoy outdoor dining. A fifteen minute drive to the nearest beach (Praia da Areia Branca).
“Casa Romão We spent several sun-filled days here in the traditional village of Moledo. We had our two -year-old daughter with us and we were so grateful for all the efforts made by the hosts to make her stay special - and ours! There were so many toys, games and even a little house for her to play with in the garden. This house was wonderful and we loved the garden. For Scots to be sitting in the sun under lemon, orange and fig trees is a treat There were even bananas growing next door. The house had everything we needed and everything worked well. We ate outside including breakfast and the barbecue was great - even used some of the herbs from the garden. The village itself was a find ; we expected it to be much smaller. Very interesting buildings all around. There were a couple of cafes and a little shop and there was a lot of farming in the fields - including peach trees. We met a local woman on our first walk round the village who took us to show one of the converted windmills. We were lucky the owner was there and he showed us in and up and we got a lesson on how to make flour.. from wheat and maize! He’d spent 40 years in Paris so his French was excellent and we didn’t have to admit the shame of not knowing much Portuguese, yet. There are three windmills behind the cottage. Idyllic. Funnily enough there are the modern windmills in the distance surrounding Moledo. We visited the dinosaur park and our fears that they might be a bit scary were unfounded as our daughter kissed the stegosaurus. It is definitely worth a visit.. even had Nessie (although they tried to debunk her existence…). We had arranged to stay at an apartment on the coast for the weekend but wished we’d stayed on here and travelled as the lovely beach at Areia Branca is only 15 minutes away. We hope we can return as the accommodation is ideal for us and is a really special place.”
