Almost don’t want to say how lovely, as will make it more competitive to book to go back! In a word - glorious! - The gite, gardens and grounds and pool are kept beautifully. Gite was spotless and very well equipped (including lots of goodies on arrival, garden games to use there - kids were very happy - charcoal ready for the bbq etc), huge comfortable beds, and wood fired hot tub to sit and look at the stars. - Stunning surrounding views (endless fields of sunflowers) and lovely shady woods to be walk. - Lots of pretty villages - particularly Aubeterre with its central square and river beach worth the short drive (under 20 mins). We also loved the big river beach at St Aulaye (c.40 mins). - Meg and Mark are kind, fun and knowledgeable hosts who were perfect balance of around and incredibly helpful - but very much left us to just relax and enjoy the gite/pool as our own. - Shopping v easy at local supermarkets, various markets and nearby village shop/butchers. Jenny and her place were a delight. Ever helpful and attentive when needed we enjoyed our time in the area and with helpful suggestions from Jenny gave us the time and space to unwind and spend time in the Dordogne. The weather wasn't always that good so less comments about the outdoor space than we might have wanted to offer though they did look as they do in the photos. We recommend Jenny and Fleur's place to anyone visiting the area.

A lovely gite in a wonderful rural location but with good road access for exploring the area. A really well equipped kitchen and as we like to cook when on holiday this was especially appreciated. Nice downstairs space in particular with simply the best woodburner we have seen. Very responsive and friendly relaxed hosts. Recommended all round.

Lovely, welcoming hosts and beautiful accommodation, with the bonus of private, off-street parking. A great find and one we hope to return to in the future! Don’t hesitate to book it if you can!

we spent 4 super nice days, our children enjoyed the jaccuzi pool, we enjoyed the calm and nature , very nice and available hosts. quiet place in the countryside.

We had a great time at Amanda and David's with our friends. Amanda and David are very caring and friendly hosts. The house is very well-equipped. The decor is thoughtful. The rooms are spacious and pleasant. The pool is very beautiful. A very nice garden with ping pong table for the kids. Super quiet environment. We were also able to taste good pizzas made by David and Amanda. We are delighted with our stay.

Thank you for a very relaxing stay. We found the gîte to be exactly as described, with all the amenities needed. The area is very pretty and we enjoyed exploring for the few days we were here. Peaceful and pretty area.

A tranquil oasis in the middle of the Charente. Lee and Karl are great hosts and their Gite is immaculate and beautiful. Lee’s restaurant recommendations are brilliant and make sure you go and have cake at Gateaux!!

This is certainly a home from home with lots of thoughtful touches. Unfortunately my friend managed to break the door handle within hours of arriving and they were so lovely about it, and fixed it straight away. Very nice people with a gîte that is comfortable, very clean and very well equipped. Thank you.

We were able to spend a weekend with the family in a mill that met our expectations despite exceptionally rainy weather for the season . Comfort and generous interior space were able to replace the lack of sunshine . The bedrooms and bathrooms are very comfortable . Only the kitchen looks a little fair for about fifteen people , especially in bad weather ,but the presence of the 2 large fridges was appreciated . It was a beautiful time . Monique G

We enjoyed an incredibly relaxing few days in Alice's gite. The photos do not do justice to this place - the renovation has been done to a very high standard, and the peace and tranquility of the location is wonderful. Alice is a generous host, and the farm and surrounding area are great for exploring. Thanks Alice, we will be back!

We just finished our stay. An amazing stay. A little nest nestled in peaceful and beautiful nature. It is a place that I really recommend for nature lovers, the trees, birdsong and ponds really bring an extraordinary peace. We even managed to catch fish, to our delight. We had a warm welcome, it was a really nice meeting.

We had not been to this region of France before and this beautiful little cottage was so typically French and everything we would have expected and more.  It was immaculately clean, very comfortable and had everything you could possibly wish for. It was the ideal base from which to discover all of the fabulous local areas we particularly loved Brantôme and Angoulême. We wanted a quiet relaxing time and Vayres was just perfect.  The weather was great even in October, most mornings we had breakfast outside after a short walk to the Boulangerie in the village. Tim was a great host with quick communication and very easy to speak to.  If you are looking for somewhere to stay in this region we can thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage you will not be disappointed, we are already planning a return visit.

great quiet stay with many activities offered on site, friendly and family-friendly, nice walks to plan: hiking, canoeing, beaches and lakes to visit. close to Bordeaux. the hosts are very nice, discreet and welcoming. I recommend it!
