Although recently built, this building actually seems older than the farmhouse it's next to. With oak beamed roof trusses and stone walls inside and out there is a sense of permanence about this place. Shortlake Cottage is located just off a quiet no-through-road and looks out over fields to the coast beyond. As well as the views, the SW Coastpath is nearby for walks into Weymouth (3m) and Lulworth Cove (7m). Osmington village with The Sly Fox pub, and a couple of small shops, is about a 5 minutes walk away. The walk to Shortlake Farm's private beach takes just 10 minutes or so across the fields.
“Shortlake Cottage was absolutely delightful, simply and stylish with lovely features and gorgeous views from the upstairs family room. We stayed here with our 3 year old and 3 month old and had everything we needed to feel happy and at home for a few days. We walked down to the beach which was about 20 minutes (maybe a bit more coming back up!) The beach was deserted except for us and really gorgeous. The cottage is ideally located for sights such as Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, etc as well as towns Weymouth and Dorchester being easy drives away. Peter was easy to get in touch with and very helpful on the couple of occasions we needed him too, I would recommend both the cottage and Peter himself as a host. We ate in most nights in the well equipped kitchen but enjoyed a fantastic meal at the nearby Smugglers Inn on our last night which we would recommend also. ****** LOVED IT! 😊”
Bramble Barn is a beautiful 17th century barn conversion situated down a private road just 4 miles from Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and the Jurrasic Coast World Heritage Site. This large splendid brick barn has been converted into two identical properties creating accommodation of the highest standards throughout. Each barn has its own enclosed garden and a south facing terrace, ideal for eating out. Tadnoll Heath, a Dorset Wildlife Trust Reserve, lies just to the north.. Ample parking
“Beautifully furnished and well located to explore the Dorset coastline. We had a great stay and Lyndsey was always on hand to provide some helpful local knowledge whenever we asked”
My place is close to the beach, great views, and family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the ambiance, the outdoors space, the comfy bed, and the neighbourhood. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
“Beautiful, cosy and comfortable cottage. Philip and Vicki had left us flowers, milk, coffee, tea and biscuits which was a lovely surprise. Bed linen and towels were clean and of good quality. The double bed has a memory foam mattress and is wonderfully comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped, bright and airy. We visited at the end of February in very chilly weather but the central heating kept us nice and toasty. The garden was lovely and private but the weather was not conducive to al fresco dining, maybe next time! It is an old cottage with lots of charm, the ceilings and doorways are low, be prepared! Also there are two staircases one wooden and one wonderfully quirky stone spiral staircase (gorgeous!) but neither has banisters the whole length so if you have mobility difficulties this possibly isn’t the place for you. The parking space is tight if you have a large car, ours didn’t fit but we always managed to park close by. Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting.”
