  • Sailing on the San Francisco Bay
Enjoy a relaxing sail while soaking in breathtaking views overlooking Sausalito, Belvedere, Angel Island, and the Golden Gate Bridge. You'll get the opportunity to learn introductory sailing skills, given the chance to take the helm and drive the boat or just sit back and enjoy the sights. During the sail you'll see an abundance of wildlife; including seals, sea lions, multiple species of birds and the occasional harbor porpoise. We've even spotted humpback whales on a few occasions during whale season. It's the perfect way to unwind and will be an experience you'll never forget. Please be sure to contact the host if you'd like to modify the starting time or customize the experience in anyway. Other things to note Please wear flat, closed-toe shoes with rubber soles. Dress comfortably and in layers as the weather can change quite quickly. It's okay to bring your own food and drinks along for the sail.

  • Beekeeping in Coastal California
The Woolly Egg Ranch is a historic family farm located just a few miles north of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge on your way to Muir Woods. During your visit, we’ll put on beekeeping gear, open hives and learn about beekeeping basics. We’ll start the visit with a short farm orientation and learn the basics of beekeeping safety and etiquette before each visitor puts on protective gear. Then Jennifer will open hives, pull out frames of comb and show you what the bees are doing based on each season. For those feeling brave, you can even hold a frame of comb in your hands while you watch the bees busy at work. Jennifer will share bee stories, tell you how these amazing animals live and work, and if we’re lucky you’ll even spot the queen among all those worker bees. Ordinarily we'd finish the experience by sampling honey from different seasons and locations around the Bay Area, but even in COVID times we will have honey, fresh eggs, and seasonal preserves for you to buy to take home with you. Once you've booked your experience you'll receive an email with instructions on how to prepare for a visit with bees and how to be sure you can be COVID-safe during your visit to the Woolly Egg Ranch. Other things to note Perhaps your curiosity of bees is tinged by a fear of getting stung. You’re not alone! Jennifer is an expert in leading people on beekeeping adventures, and she puts your comfort and safety first. She’ll outfit you with all you need and orient you so you can experience beekeeping minus the stings.

  • Dyeing a scarf with California plants
I'm offering a fun workshop where you will dye a wool or silk scarf that you can wear while exploring the sometimes chilly California coast and bring back home as a souvenir to keep those memories alive! During the workshop you will learn the process of natural dyeing from extracting dyes from local plants dyeing a scarf. Inspired by the traditions in this region we will use acorn, eucalyptus leaves and coffee berry bush leaves. You will have a wide choice of traditional dyes to work with as well. The workshop is very much hands on, you will be working on your own projects and make your own natural dyes for your scarf. Each person is provided with individual tools and working station. The maximum group size is 8 people, which allows guests to practice social distancing. Other things to note The dyeing workshop is hands on and the quests are doing all the steps of natural dyeing. The workshop is not suitable for small children, since we will be handling hot liquids.
