    Steve2019-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Small but perfect. It was in walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. Brett left us a great list of cafes, restaurants, breweries and hikes it was super helpful!

    Rebecca And Adam2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Brett’s place is a great location if your looking to explore downtown Asheville. Everything we wanted to experience such as breweries, shops, and restaurants was within a close walk. We had tickets to the Chihuly exhibit at the Biltmore and Brett’s place is a super close drive to that also! Touring the Biltmore is definitely worth the time and money if your in the area! Brett also gives a great list of recommendations of hiking and biking trails along with restaurants to choose from! My only regret is we didn’t have more time to book an extra night!

    Kim2018-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Expect ease, cleanliness, and hospitality. The Cottage is very close to downtown Asheville, and Brett gives excellent recommendations for food, music, and outdoor fun. We will definitely go back.

    Henry D2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Brett was an outstanding host and The Cottage exceeded our expectations. The location couldn’t be beat as it took less than 15 minutes to walk to the center of town. Brett’s place was very clean and the perfect amount of space for two people. He gave great recommendations and was very quick to respond and help us with anything we needed. We can’t wait to come back to Asheville.

    Katherine2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to stay for an Ashevillian weekend. Crystal clear communications and instructions. Clean and quiet space within an easy walk to downtown. Highly recommended!

    Alycia2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome. So convenient. Perfect space!

    Katy2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • It is a convenient walk to downtown. Parking is a bit tight and on a very narrow street. A new home is being constructed across the street and the construction vehicles impede cars attempting to pass and park in the designated space.

  • Holly's place was clean, well decorated and welcoming. While it wasn't necessarily my idea of walking distance to all the buzz, it was however, a very cheap uber drive to and from. Loved the welcome wine. The only downside worth mentioning is that the full bed in the second bedroom was incredibly uncomfortable. Pillows and bedding were on point, however the mattress basically felt like a boxspring.

    Abigail2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Holly's place was great! An adorable house that was extremely clean and very close to downtown! Highly recommend it!

    Halleigh2018-03-04T00:00:00Z

The location was PERFECT for brewery hopping and city exploration. We never took the car- just meandered through the amazing restaurants, food trucks, and bars. This will be the house we rent when we visit again! Thanks for sharing your lovely home, Holly!

    Judy2016-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Holly was wonderful and very responsive. Her house was perfect. We arrived on a snowy night and spent an amazing weekend in Asheville. The beds were comfy, the house was warm, the coffee and French press were a plus too! The house was clean and in the best location. We were able to walk to downtown and have dinner and drinks. I would love to stay here again!

Indeed, this is a kind of wanderlust (and wonder-lust) completely and uniquely ours. Welcome to Asheville! Here, in remarkable downtown, College Street is one of the most historic-yet-hip addresses in the city – a promenade that straddles the ephemeral boundaries between old-world charm and modern style. Festivals: From Downtown After Five (once a month, in summer) and the Lexington Avenue Arts Fest, to Drum Circle and Art in the Park, downtown Asheville and the River Arts District are ripe with arts, culture, and creative pursuits.
  • Excellent location and a very comfortable space. We slept like babies on the very soft sheets and were very happy with the kitchen amenities. Many nice touches including a welcome bottle of wine and upgraded bath supplies. We appreciated the comfortable furniture for relaxing and the ability to walk everywhere from this location. Super clean and very comfortable overall.

  • Very beautiful space! Conveniently located to all of downtown Asheville. Would definitely stay here again!

    Shana2019-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4th of July weekend and had a blast. The location of this apartment is great and in walking distance of everything you'd want to do in downtown Asheville. The apartment was very clean and the keypad entry is great so you don't need to worry about carrying keys around. As a host, Karen was very responsive to all questions we had leading up to the trip. We did have some issues with the WiFi being very spotty, though not to any fault of the hosts. Just something to be mindful of if you need to log onto a laptop/tablet at any time during your stay. I would definitely stay here again.

    Joan2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Pros: great location downtown. Extremely clean. Cons: with great location cokes extremely noisy neighborhood. beware of construction going on, loud workers, thin walls, and fire station nearby. No WiFi, couldn’t even use without data. This is normally not an issue but I needed to work and ended up costing me double what I paid for the space since I couldn’t get on WiFi and couldn’t even send messages to host about the issues.

    Jenna2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and convenient to everything downtown!

    Anne2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Karen was very hospitable. As far as cleanliness is concerned, her place was immaculate and the location was even better. Highly recommend staying here. Karen even provided us a nice bottle of wine.

Dragonfly Cottage built in 1905 is vintage Asheville boarding house, mix of modern (completely updated) and old. Walking distance to Brewery"s, or downtown shops and restaurants. Downtown neighborhood can be loud. Some people are not prepared for noise and street people. Sweet front flower garden, large front porch, and front parlor available to guest at all times. Old dog Levi is now confined to back of the house, host living quarters and back yard, not trustworthy around guest.
Couple or singles get away! Nice old world bedrooms. Two rentals up stairs this one is on the front of house with private bath across the hall. The other rental is Dragonfly Cottage II on back of house with ensuite bath. Both have comfortable queen size beds. Bathrooms completely updated. Local art displayed to create a mix of old and new. Pease ask about the artist. Parlor room downstairs available for those that can't sleep (not wanting to disturb partner) and/or want a place to sit, and read. Have a bourbon before retiring, a southern tradition!
This is a downtown transitional neighborhood with 24/7 activity. Grocery, art's theater, restaurants, brewery's are all right down the street. Friday night drum circle is a must in Asheville.
  • Wonderful stay...walking distance to everything we were interested in...downtown, Orange Peel and South Slope. Home was comfortable and Paula a terrific host. Can’t wait to return to Dragonfly Cottage.

    John2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The location was in walking distance to all the things. We ate at some of the restaurants Paula recommended, which were great and tasty! The house has a lot of character and it was nice to sit and relax on the porch and have a beer! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and highly recommend visiting the Dragonfly Cortage. Paula was a wonderful host!

    Ashley2018-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Paula’s home is the best AirBnb experience we have ever had in 5 years of using the app! She is responsive and helpful with check-in and is very clear about the best ways to enjoy your stay and use her home to the fullest. There is a breakfast nook for use that she keeps fresh with coffees and teas and all sorts of goodies as well as much more (including a take-one, leave-one beer fridge!) The bathroom for this room is about 2 steps from the door and is for your use only since the other room that she has also on Airbnb has a (large and modern) ensuite. Paula was warm and inviting and we had great conversations with her about so many great things. She provided us with tips about the local area and we had an adventure staying here. The home is really close to downtown and we walked every night that we went out for a dinner or drink! We had some nice mornings and evenings also on her front porch enjoying her garden and wind chimes. All-in-all ... VERY recommended and we will definitely be looking forward to the next time we are visiting Asheville to try and nab a room at her home again!

    Jake2018-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our time with Paula! She has such a cozy home, and it is near everything that you need to see. Can't wait to go back and stay with Paula again!!

If you want an in-town experience, this is it! Perfectly situated near downtown in a quiet historic neighborhood. Every element has been curated to create a special experience, including original artwork and hand-painted furniture, cotton linens & comfy bed. A beautiful en-suite bath has been designed for your convenience. Enjoy coffee, tea & snacks, while gazing at the backyard. A mini fridge, electric kettle, coffee maker & all the kitchenware is supplied. Guest wing with private entrance. Smoking only permitted outside. If you are bringing a pet, please ask for pet guidelines.
I have 2 airbnb rooms, that have very similar features and feel. So if this room does not have the availability you are seeking.. check out the other room, The Sweet Spot - https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6503015. The Boutique Room is a nice size bedroom with private ensuite bathroom in a separate guest wing in back of the house. The most important things for me are: clean and fresh, nice ambiance (decor), firm cozy bed, with quality linens, hot water and good pressure in shower and an area you can make a snack, coffee or tea. The room is equipped with a small fridge, toaster oven, electric kettle and coffee maker some basics (condiments, tea, coffee) and utensils. Original art work enhances wall spaces. Air Conditioning for hot summer days. A table with 2 chairs, for hanging out. There are lots of great little extras. I am happy to stock granola, organic yogurt and milk, good coffee, fruit and if you have something you love, just ask! You have a semi-private entrance, so if you are out and about late, no worries. There is a true feeling of privacy in the back of the house. Green fenced in backyard with table and chairs to relax - smokers welcome outside. Your safety is important to me - Locks on guest doors, fire extinguishers, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, safety card, motion sensor lights by entrances, and off street parking etc.. My driveway can accommodate 2 medium size SUV. If you have a very large SUV or truck you may have to park on street where there is typically ample parking. Only 3 blocks to town where you can enjoy many restaurants, breweries, galleries, shops , Asheville Yoga Studio (about 7 blocks) and more. Best of both worlds: close to the downtown, but quiet space when you are ready to relax. Dogs are welcome, but please check in with me BEFORE you book, so that I can send the pet rules to be sure you can abide by them. Fenced in yard for romping. We love animals. There is a $10 Pet fee per visit. I have tried to think of all the necessities, lots of conveniences, and many luxurious extras. I want you to feel at home and pampered. If there is something I missed, I am open to suggestions and requests. Most of the beautiful photos were taken by an Airbnb photographer with a wide angle lens that does distort the room size a bit.
This home is in the charming, historic Montford which has beautiful Victorian homes, tree-lined streets, and fabulous gardens. It is just three blocks to town, where there are cafes, music, and shopping.

  • We had a wonderful time in Asheville staying at Lizzy’s place. It’s in the perfect location within walking distance to downtown. She is a thoughtful, responsive and accommodating host. The space is beautiful and comfortable. We loved the attention to detail and decor and the thoughtful, welcoming touches: fresh flowers, chocolates, yogurt. One of our most favorite Airbnb stays!

    Amanda2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect! Beautifully decorated and cozy. We had lots of privacy and the back yard was perfect for our dog! We will stay again!

    Heather2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect location in walking distance to city centre yet quiet and cosy. And the room and bath are so beautifully furnished and decorated. And the huge shower... Like a rom in itself! Thanks a lot for making our stay a real holiday. And thanks for the fresh organic milk and yoghurt! Highly recommended host!

  • This is a great place to stay. Close enough to downtown to walk. No problems with finding parking and paying meters. Nice clean and quiet.

    Debbie2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location! We were able to walk to pretty much everything. Lovely and safe neighborhood. Despite this being a “private room” it really felt like having an entire place to ourselves. Private entrance and private bathroom- shower was amazing and Lizzy provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash- I shouldn’t have packed anything because Lizzy had it all! The snacks, coffee/tea and water filter pitcher were nice touches, too. We needed another iron and Lizzy was at our door within minutes to help out. Highly recommend this place!

  • Brett's Cottage is really in a perfect location and priced right for a great visit to Asheville. I would recommend to friends and family and definitely stay there again.

    Nick2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent communication. Due to flight cancellation I was unable to keep my stay, but Brett was help before, during and after the process.

  • Hidden gem in great location!

    Ben2019-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great location with nice ammenities. Very robust list of local suggestions which was much appreciated while we were exploring the city. Highly recommended.

    Sarah2018-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Charming Cottage is more than advertised! Brett is a great host, and he worked hard to get the place ready we we could check in early. His communication was quick and thorough. The directions we received made our check-in process extremely easy. We followed many of Brett's suggestions for the area, and he was spot-on with all of them. Brett tells you about the steps to enter the Cottage, and we appreciated that. It was not difficult to get up and down, and the steps were well lit at night. The place itself is well-equipped with everything you need. Roomy and spacious, we had no problem relaxing after a long day and night of hiking, eating, and drinking. The location is simply fantastic. We were able to walk everywhere, which made our local craft brew tour very easy. We visited many of the local establishments, and it seemed as though we didn't have to go very far to do it. We had dinner at Salsa, per Brett's notes, and it was simply outstanding. Suggest that you order an entree and split it, as the portions are ridiculously large. We also took a short drive over to West Asheville, and had a great time. Neat "hipster" area with a lot to see. Again per Brett's recommendation, we had lunch at Nine Mile. Although the service was a bit slow, it was easy to put up with once we got our food - incredible! The place is also close to the highway, which allowed us an easy out to go hiking in some of the numerous spots in the mountains. After talking to many people while we were out and about, we came to realize what a great bargain we got on the Cozy Cottage. If we ever get a chance to get back to Asheville again, we would not hesitate to stay at Brett's pace!

    John2019-03-28T00:00:00Z

A beautiful one-hundred year old Richard Sharp Smith historic home in Montford neighborhood. 3 blocks from the center of town, 5-15 minute walk to everything. Hot tub, high speed wi-fi and cable tv, outdoor spaces for relaxation, gourmet kitchen.
You will be staying in the "Blue Room". This is downstairs next to the "Green Room". Those two rooms share the Mauve bathroom. This home is a quick 5 minute walk from the center of downtown. This historic neighborhood is peaceful, yet only a short walk to all the fun activities downtown. Fantastic restaurants nearby, the Pritchard Park drum circle, the US Cellular Center, and St. Lawrence Basilica are only three blocks away. We are a 5 minute drive from UNCA.. You won't need to move your car once you are settled in, unless you decide to go to the Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village, 10 minutes away. Easy access to the Blue Ridge parkway, NC Arboretum, Folk Art Center and much more!
I love the beautiful old historic homes in this Montford neighborhood. My house dates from circa 1910, termed a "Victorian cottage", and built by Richard Sharp Smith. Many of the homes in the neighborhood date from the 1880's. This Victorian neighborhood was the first suburb of Asheville. It is very quiet and friendly. Lots of beautiful walking opportunities around the neighborhood.
  • We had a great stay with Rita and Jeff. They were warm, friendly and full of ideas. Our only regret is that we didn't plan more time to stay in Asheville. Next time we will plan better!

    Mery2016-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved Rita's Victorian Cottage! The entire property is charming and inviting, as is the host. The Blue Room was perfect for me - very quiet and cozy with a super-comfy bed. Rita was very helpful to me as I made plans to explore the Asheville area, arranged transportation, and even got up very early in the morning to see me off when it was time to go home! I loved the whole neighborhood, which is just a few blocks' walk to downtown. Highly recommended - I hope to return soon!

    Vicki2016-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay at Rita's. What a wonderful, friendly, and great place to spend the night! I would not hesitate to stay here again!!!!

    David2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay! Excellent location within easy walking distance to downtown. Area was quiet with great parking. I'll add they have great water pressure in the shower!

    Shauna2015-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a charming room while staying with Rita and really enjoyed her hospitality and friendliness. The accommodations were comfortable, clean and her outside rooms so pleasant in the morning with coffee in hand and great company and conversation.

    Susan2014-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Rita and her husband Jeff were really nice at each interaction with them. I love the room and location. Would love to come back. We stayed in the blue room which is right next to the green room. The room was cozy but the walls are thin. I might try to get the room upstairs next time.

    Anqi2015-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a decorative Victorian house with hospitable hosts! In addition to our room, we ate breakfast in the dining room, lunch on the veranda and in the evening, we relaxed on the comfy front porch. Rita explained where everything was and even supplied us with some tourist information and maps. She showed us a compartment in the fridge for our goods, and a basket in the bathroom for our grooming essentials. She responded to communication with expedience. The house is quite conveniently located, and we were able to explore the downtown and visit Biltmore with ease. I would definitely recommend this accommodation.

    Victoria2015-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful house. We stayed in the blue room and loved it. It is a close walk to downtown Ashville. Sorry we missed meeting Rita, but Jeff was an awesome host.

"Studio C" Cozy efficiency on first floor in heart of downtown, epicenter of the brewery district. Park your car in our lot and walk to all restaurants and breweries in minutes, or cook your own meals in the equipped kitchen. Queen latex bed with roll out full size bed. Claw foot tub for soaking. Roku TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sling and more.
Downtown! Walk to everything in seconds, this is IN downtown, not near it. Charming 1920's building with efficiency apartment on first floor (upstairs is another rental, some guests may be heavier footed than others) in safe neighborhood. Private parking. Walking convenient to all restaurants, breweries, co-op, theater, music venues and more.
Residential charm with downtown living Great neighbors No need for a car
  • Studio C was our second AirBnB experience and was truly delightful! It's very cheerily and wonderfully decorated, absolutely clean and only VERY centrally located in downtown Asheville. We walked everywhere, including a yummy brewery and cafe one block away! We never met the hostess but she was always available immediately via text. Our only very minor suggestion would be to add a couple folding suitcase stands or folding tables. The only places to lay out our suitcases were the comfortable chairs, then no where to sit! Oh, and the latex bed was WONDERFUL to sleep on!! We'd return to stay here most definitely !

    Pan (Jeff) N' Jane2015-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Studio C was perfect for our stay in Asheville. The location is simply unbeatable - easy walks to all the best breweries and restaurants. We parked upon arrival and didn’t get back in the car until it was time to go home a few days later! The space itself was immaculately clean and quiet. It was nice to have a full fridge to keep drinks and leftovers in. Would absolutely book again!

    Lauren2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The space is nice and clean but it's worth mentioning that the bed is literally right at the entrance but the building doesn't seem to be crowded so privacy wasn't an issue.

    Hannah2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great stay! April was quick to respond and Studio C was perfect for our last minute, one- night stay. Wish we could have stayed longer as the location in the South Slope was perfect!! The accommodations were comfortable, parking was easy and having a kitchen was great. Thank you!!

    Randi2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • The studio apartment was very clean and cozy. The residential building is situated on the corner, so the traffic and people walking along the street were a little loud at night. Otherwise, it's a great location in a fun city!

    Wendy2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was in walking distance of many lively places. April and her husband were very polite and quick to respond to any questions. The home was clean and very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

    Brian2018-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The listing was spot on. Location might be the best if you love beer.

    Benjamin2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • April is a fantastic hostess, very accommodating and a very responsive communicator. The accommodations are in a perfect location to all the local breweries, fantastic food, and great music... all within a very short and safe walk. The Studio C is a very clean and well appointed apartment with easy parking and has a warm cozy feel to it.... "C" for yourself!

Breweries, restaurants, bars, civic center and shopping all walking distance. Park in your numbered reserved spot for your stay and walk for the rest of your journey.
My space is unique because it is located in the Lexington Market area which is the Haight Ashbury type of neighborhood of Asheville. Guests can have a luxurious bath or show in the separate shower with 2 shower heads. Sink, plates, refrigerator, microwave and we have just added a picnic backpack with separate plates, utensil, glasses with a hot cold storage compartment for food. It even has a wine bottle cooler. For those beautiful days you just don't want to wait inside to eat, it will help you to utilize the local deli's and grocery stores. In unit laundry in case your travels become interesting and a Roku tv w/blue tooth stereo for in unit entertainment. The unit also has a dedicated parking space #B25, which is priceless downtown.
Right downtown. Half a block from 2 of the 3 vinyl record stores in Asheville. 1 block from Harris Teeter and Trader Joe's. 3 blocks from South Slope. Walking distance to breweries and eclectic (Non-corporate) local shopping, restaurants and local live music venues. ! block from Asheville Music Hall, Asheville one stop, 5 Walnut, Mtn. Madre, The Vault. Across the street from the Civic Center. 1 block from Food Lion Skate Park. Lots more within 2 blocks the entire downtown within 5 blocks. Park your car in space #B25 and leave it for your entire stay.

Welcome to our private downstairs apartment that has been lovingly renovated to offer easy comfort minutes from the heart of downtown Asheville. Nestled on a quiet cottage lane, our space offers a clean, welcoming and private space that is easy walking to coffee houses, pubs, restaurants and the civic center (4 blocks away).
1 bedroom apartment walking distance to downtown Asheville, no need for Uber (save $). Eco friendly with many added touches to make your stay relaxing and comfy. Coffee, tea, organic breakfast, microwave (for heating up those yummy leftovers from the many amazing restaurants near by), fridge. Fun decor, quality linens, comfy bed.
Montford is an adorable historic district right in the heart of downtown Asheville. The coffee shop is a 3 minute walk, the neighborhood pub, a 4 minute walk, delicious local restaurants, the greenway that takes you to the botanical gardens and UNCA where the tailgate market is happening every Saturday morning. Or you could head into downtown, 3 blocks in the other direction to find all of the eclectic shops, food, breweries and music that make Asheville worth visiting,
  • Great location, friendly people, very accommodating!

  • Highly recommend! Perfect location! Easy communication! Super cute basement apartment fully renovated with lots of windows and light! It didn't feel like a basement at all! We loved the cool, laid back vibe of the neighborhood! We were there on a rainy weekend so we didn't walk to downtown, but google maps said it would take about 15 minutes. Only a 5 minute drive! We did walk to All Day Darling (about 8 minutes), a casual restaurant with gluten free options, that was tasty. The queen size bed was comfy, the bathroom clean and fully stocked, and the kitchenette had everything we needed for a casual stay. There is no sink or stove in the kitchen but there is a microwave, mini frig, cups, plates, utensils, etc as well as a variety of snacks, delicious French press coffee, teas, a variety of creamers (i.e. half n half, coconut creamer, etc) and sweeteners. I had asked Kelly about gluten free restaurants in the area so she made sure to have gluten free snacks there as well :) They truly do their best to accommodate dietary preferences! Kelly was out of town but we did meet Rick and Kaslo, their yellow lab! They were both wonderful, greeting us in the pouring down rain, making sure we knew where to go! We will definitely stay here again!

    Jill2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a fantastic stay at Kelly & Rick's. From the quiet location in a charming historic neighborhood an easy walk to Asheville's dynamic arts & brewery scene, to the stylish roomy apartment full of thoughtful touches - this Airbnb has it all. Be sure to take Kelly & Rick's suggestions for walkable restaurants - Five Ponts for old-school diner breakfast & Nine Mile for incredible Caribbean cuisine. With an unbeatable comination of great location, terrific hosts, and comfy amenities, I guarantee you'll want to move in!

  • The place is really quite quaint. It has a great location within walking distance to the centre of town: Just leave your car in the driveway. Kelly and Rick were really friendly without being intrusive, just the right mix. They were very responsive and the place was so clean and tidy when we arrived. A great place to base ourselves from in Asheville. I wish we could have stayed longer. All the best. :)

  • Our family had a great stay at Kelly's place. The location was perfect, we walked into town several times with our young girls. They thought it was fun to be able to walk everywhere! The place was clean and nicely decorated, very cozy. We felt right at home! Kelly was available for questions and offered suggestions on things to do in the area. We look forward to another visit!

So, why would you stay anywhere but in the historic center? Located in Asheville Times Building@ 120 College Street, The Gazette Condo 200 represents the heart of iconic Asheville: in the shadow the Jackson building (check out that view!), at the start of the Urban Trail arts & history tour, and with easy access to the city’s exceptional dining, nightlife, and culture. Good news! We manage three condos at the 120 College Street: The Gazette 200 (2BR), The Daily 201 (1BR), and The News 202 (1BR), with a total of 4 bedrooms to accommodate 8 guests. ☀☀☀ Antique-Chic DESIGN ☀☀☀ The Gazette Condo 200 at 120 College Street is a special place. It’s probably not like anything you have at home, but it is exactly the historic-yet-contemporary feel you seek in Asheville. It is historic. It is completely renovated. It is period-perfect. It is home. Or, a home-away-from-home, at least. Each of three properties, The Gazette Condo 200, The Daily Condo 201 and The News Condo 202 in the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street rises to 10-foot ceilings and blends select antiques with new pieces, modern furnishings with neutral tones, sleek lines with strategic pops of ebullient color. The white leather seating invites togetherness, the architectural walls dull outside sound, the kitchen is fully stocked, the West Elm dining table seats 8, the closets are custom, and the bathrooms are completely modernized. And you’ll sleep like a baby, thanks to custom drapes and blackout shades. This is where modern meets old world, and it couldn’t be any more Asheville. It’s the perfect complement to your historic downtown experience, complete with historic views over iconic downtown sights. ---------------------------------- ☀☀☀ A Piece of History ☀☀☀ There’s nothing quite so Ashville as staying in a living piece of history. Specifically, a living piece of history where local news writers and makers once plied their craft! We’ll tell you a little story. The 1880-1930 era was a pivotal time in Asheville’s history: This was the Gilded Age, a post-industrial and pre-Depression age that welcomed the railroad, grandiose living, urban development, and the creative minds of O. Henry, Thomas Wolfe, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and others. Asheville rode so high it almost side-stepped the Great Depression. Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street was originally built in 1914 for the Asheville Gazette (later, the Asheville Times), occupied 120 College Street until the 1930’s ————————————————— Fun fact: In 1929, Thomas Wolfe would forever immortalize this time in his highly autobiographical first novel “Look Homeward, Angel,” a coming-of-age story that mirrored his life in Asheville and experiences at his mother’s famous boardinghouse, Dixieland, "the most famous boardinghouse in American fiction.” Just two blocks north on Market Street is the restored Thomas Wolfe Memorial State Historic Site and welcomes visitors Tuesday-Saturday.
☀☀☀ Welcome ☀☀☀ Welcome to the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street, the historic and cultural center of downtown Asheville and former home to the city’s first newspaper. Welcome to a historic building that still unfolds over original hardwood floors, five-panel doors, antique doorknobs, banisters, and railings. Welcome to a home-away-from home above a museum and a multi-level amazing view overlooking Pack Square Park. A downtown condo, footsteps to fine restaurants and trendy nightlife, art galleries and antique shops. Yes, it’s safe to say – this is it. You’ve found it. Over 1,400 square-feet of historic space, The Gazette Condo 200 offers a blend of antique and contemporary furnishings, neutral tones and bright pops of color, solid woods and airy windows, architectural touches and high design. This is everything you never knew you needed in your downtown Asheville experience. And indeed, downtown Asheville is here, RIGHT here. Walk out your door and you’re on College Street, the historic center of Asheville and jumping-off point for art walks and ghost tours, microbrew flights and year-round festivals, fine dining and museum-hopping. You’re in the middle of it all and exactly where you want to be. ---------------------------------- ☀☀☀ LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! ☀☀☀ Walk into the shadow of history (and of the iconic Jackson Building), and you immediately feel the pull: 120 College Street is a place where old meets new, where history blends seamlessly with today – where a contemporary patina adds depth to the monuments, parks, and stories that have resided here for more than a century. And 120 College Street is at the center of it all: above the Black Mountain College Museum and overlooking the Jackson Building, across from Roger McGuire Green in front of City Hall and the County Building, and Pack Square Park with a large open green space on a slope leading to the main stage, three water features including a splash fountain and original art by regional artists. There are many seating areas surrounded by native trees and shrubs. This beautiful 6.5-acre public space is an extra amenity for visitors to relax and linger. This is Asheville history, respectfully updated for the 21st century. So, while Real Life may be about compromise – sacrifice This to get That – we believe that vacation should be a special time. This is when you get both This and That, no compromise required. The Gazette Condo 200 in the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street is your no-compromise-required destination: at the intersection of past and present, in the shadow of the Jackson Building and Pack Square Park, and enveloped by the energy and charm of downtown life. It embodies and embraces the Asheville scene – a scene that draws designers and artists, creatives and music lovers, foodies and artisanal beverage aficionados alike. Here’s what awaits: Dining: Asheville is a food-and-drink dream – there’s a reason Livability.com named us a Top 10 Foodie City! – and from 120 College Street, you’re just minutes to much of your must-eat list, including French Broad Chocolate Lounge, Curate, Sovereign Remedies, Twisted Laurel, Over Easy Cafe, City Bakery, Bouchon, Mela, and Rhubarb. Culture: There’s nothing quite like Asheville culture to put some pep in your step and some erudition in your life. Be sure to schedule stops at the Black Mountain College Museum (your downstairs neighbor!) and the Asheville Art Museum. Finally, don’t forget to checkout a show at The Orange Peel or The Grey Eagle! History: From 120 College Street, you’re just minutes to many of Asheville’s historic landmarks, including the Vance Memorial, Monument Corner, the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, and Asheville’s historic Flatiron Building, not to mention numerous statues, plaques, and monuments that commemorate the city’s past. Urban Trail Art & History Tour: Art and history lovers, walk into history on Asheville’s Urban Trail, a 1.7-mile walking tour home to 30+ stops at creative landmarks, public sculptures, dioramas, and more. It begins at Pack Place, almost at your front door! The renowned Blue Spiral 1 Gallery and Momentum Gallery are a couple of blocks away and the Black Mountain College Museum is right downstairs. Festivals: From Downtown After Five (once a month, in summer) and the Lexington Avenue Arts Fest, to Drum Circle and Art in the Park, downtown Asheville and the River Arts District are ripe with arts, culture, and creative pursuits.
  • SPARKLING CLEAN, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, city views and close proximity to downtown Asheville! PERFECT location while attending the yoga festival and exploring the city!

    Yvonne2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful 2-bed 2.5 bath condo downtown with excellent interior design and a well equipped kitchen. We loved the large bathrooms, spacious open-plan living space and stylish storage options. A nice mix of modern and antique furniture and decor elements. This was one of the nicest Airbnbs I’ve stayed in.

    Richard2019-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great location right across from a park with splash fountain and stage. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Plenty of space. Parking was no problem.

  • Great location in the heart of downtown Asheville. Very clean and functional space.

    Adam2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Karen's place is exceptionally well-appointed; we had absolutely everything we needed to make our "home base" from which to explore Asheville. The beds are super comfortable, and the kitchen is well stocked. There is no better location either: it's an easy walk to the best shops, restaurants, and other notable places of interest. This may just be my favorite Airbnb rental ever!

    Elizabeth2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was awesome!!!! We had two couples and it worked great having two levels of living. Everything downtown was in walking distance and parking on the street at night for free was easy. Then we got the parking app to pay for street parking when needed. Karen was great as a host and communicated with us when needed. Asheville is an awesome town and this apartment made the trip even more fun

    Peter2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay in Asheville. Spacious and fun, right in the middle of everything

    Anthony2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible, warm modern condo, right out of a magazine, right in the heart of downtown Asheville! Incredible light filled space, comfortable beds, spa like bathrooms, spacious kitchen for cooking and stocked with everything you need, very clean and new, easy to find, and all of the highlights of downtown are steps away. Parking was easy, but not free-daily lots all around for convenience. A destination AirBnB for us when we return to Asheville!

This newly renovated well lit coffee Studio offers wonderful natural light from large windows High ceilings and a full-size kitchen. Has a comfortable seating area, flat screen TV, coffee maker, and everything you need to cook basic meals.
  • Fantastic location close to lots of breweries and restaurants. Jon was very communicative. A bathmat in the bathroom and more toilet paper would be good for next time.

    Laura2018-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • If you a looking for a nice, safe place that is very reasonable and close to town, this is it. The location is easy to get to, with free parking in the back lot. Aside from driving to see waterfalls, our car was parked. Though some areas may be a bit further than others, we walked to the art district, most if not all breweries and all through town. We felt it was a very safe, easily walkable city and Jonathan’s place was perfect for us. Next time we are in Asheville, we will be staying here again.

    Kraig2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay downtown. Close to everything but very private

    Jaid2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for a night sleep if you’re going to be out in town all day. There is very low lighting in the room (only one dim ceiling light) and it is pretty depressing if you plan to be spending time there during the daytime. The floors needed cleaning and there were no amenities other than hand soap, shower soap, shampoo and conditioner. There was no dish soap, hairdryer, etc. and the utensils seemed dirty. There were very few towels also. Jonathan was an amazing host. He was very responsive and gave great suggestions about sights to see, music, restaurants, etc. I loved how dog friendly everything was. Our stay was exactly what we needed for a weekend away but I do think it was overpriced for the lack of cleanliness and amenities.

    Julianna2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • You can’t beat the location - the place was as described. Was exactly what I was looking for given my situation

    Zach2019-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • The best thing about this place is the location! It was so easy to walk everywhere. It was also very nice to be able to park there and not have to worrying about paying to park. We stayed the night on a Monday and although we did not have to worry about noise from the nightclub, the location of this apartment is very noisy. It is right next to the back entrance, which is also next to the stairs. We were constantly hearing people on the stairs and people entering/exiting the building. Overall, I would stay again because the location is unbeatable, but I would bring ear plugs and travel without the dog (she was frightened by all the noise from the door/stairs, as she’s not used to it since we live in a stand-alone house).

    Carina2019-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, excellent host. The studio is small but well equipped and perfect for a solo traveler. Not recommended for super tall or big people, like my bf who barely fit in the shower and made the bed rock with every move...and not in a good way 😂. Easy check in, near the beer, and cute.

    Joellynn2019-02-04T00:00:00Z

This comfy hideaway is a very unique space. I like to consider it an art lovers creative space. Tucked in the middle of downtown Asheville, this unit provides maximum comfort, front and back yards for your fur babies, a short walk to all things downtown AVL, a short drive to all the best hiking, and a community of wonderful souls that are always happy to point you in the right direction. You will love staying here!
The neighborhood is great! It is diverse, and full of Asheville flare! We love where we live, and are certain that you will as well!!!!
  • Jonathan's place was great! Really close to everything. Very modern and clean. Has a really cool mural on one of the walls. Jonathan was very responsive and helpful and gave us recommendations for places to go around the city. The only thing that could possibly be difficult is the parking lot in the back fills up at night. But 10/10 would recommend this place!

    Lydia2018-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan’s place was great for a night in downtown Asheville. Great location, free parking, and walking distance from many restaurants, breweries, etc. He provided recommendations on things to do around town. The place was pretty clean and had all of the basic amenities.

    Tristan2019-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • The location of this apartment cannot be beat! Easy access to the highway to get out and go hiking, and a quick walk to downtown breweries, restaurants and shops. The bed is super comfortable, and great water pressure in the shower. It’s an old building next to a night club, so you do get noise from other tenants and building plumbing and partiers next door, but nothing too terrible to affect our stay or sleep. The location and dog friendly policy far outweighed any of the noise. We’ll be back next time we are Asheville!

    Katie2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • This spot was a great fit for my wife and I. Jonathan's place is in a great location and we found it to be clean, cozy and comfortable. He was accommodating to our dog which was a great find for such a unique location.

  • This was a great place to stay! The description is spot on! It was close to everything and we were able to walk to anything we wanted to do. We did go to west Asheville so we did drive there and coming and going was easy with the parking lot right behind the apartment. We appreciated the recommendations for food, music, and shopping. I was traveling with my daughter and the space was big enough for us, clean and comfortable. We will definitely go back and continue to recommend to others!!

Please read *expectations in “the space.” The heart of downtown is just a short 15 min walk away & Orange Peel is a 13 min walk away. We have a sometimes loud toddler in the house & we share one bathroom. Once booked, please be sure to read the House Manual. On Tues, a sitter will be watching our boy in the common space & our bedroom. Also before booking please upload a gvmt id to your profile. We require all of our guests to have a verified gvmt issued ID and host recommendation Thank you!
*expectations: Scammers: If I have any suspicion that something is in your inquiry is off I will immediately report your account. We find that a handful of past guests who have not read the information on the host pages entirely, both before and after booking, tend to be the rare individuals to leave less than glowing reviews as a result of misplaced expectations. So as to make your experience the best possible, we recommend reading the provided information in its entirety to see if our space is a good fit for your expectations. Booking We offer one night stays during the week, but two nights minimum on the weekends. Homestay This homestay is our primary residence which means your room is private and the common areas & washroom are shared. And that we have a toddler who talks loud. So if you plan on sleeping in late we have provided ear plugs in one of the dresser drawers. There is one bedroom available for your stay. It has been our nursery in the past and now has a queen bed and a sunset view toward downtown and the mountains. There is one shared jack and jill bathroom off of the living room. The living room has a couch and a hammock. Travel time The heart of downtown is just a short 15 minute walk away and the Orange Peel venue is only a 13 minute walk away. Once booked, please be sure to read the House Manual in the app. House manual likes being read. :) We love our condo in Downtown Asheville. From our condo, it's an easy stroll to downtown to get a cup of coffee, enjoy dinner or drinks, stroll through an art gallery, or catch a baseball game. We are far enough out, though, that we still get a restful night's sleep. You will also have access to the kitchen, living room, bathroom, wifi, and parking. Our home is pet-free. Pets are not allowed due to slight allergy. The Biltmore Estate is about a 10 minute drive. The Grove Park Inn is about a 6 minute drive. A plethora of restaurants are in 12 minute walking distance or a 5 minute drive. The River Arts district is about an 8 minute drive away as well. One of the access roads to the Blue Ridge Parkway is 1/2 mile away. Our building was built in 2008 and has a modern style. There is a bus stop down the hill, though you would not need it to access downtown areas. We are also within 1 mile of a traditional grocery store and a co-op. Asheville is very cyclist friendly, so let us know if you have cycling questions. We love showing off our city, so if you are up for suggestions on favorite restaurants or places not to miss (French Broad Chocolate Lounge!) then we would be glad to advise. Some of these tips are in our guidebook and a picture of food suggestions in the pics. We also love the outdoors and can give you tips on great hikes. We have an iron and ironing board. The washer and dryer is limited for use during your stay upon request. Once you are booked, please be sure to read the House Manual in the app, it will answer most if not all your questions as we are typically not available on site for check in. We have a toddler, so there are some toys around the house. Our home is somewhat "baby-proofed" but if you are traveling with a little one you are still responsible for your child's safety. Parking at our condo is free. If you're driving downtown, rather than walking, event parking can range from $5 to $10. Mon - Saturday street parking meters don't charge after 6pm. You'll likely spend about a dollar an hour at most parking decks and metered parking. Take plenty of quarters for metered or you can use the passport parking app. Uber ride is about $5 We are a legally recognized Homestay permitted by the city of Asheville. The definition of a Homestay means this is our primary residence. Short term vacation rentals (29 days or less) are restricted in Asheville city, but we do have permission to operate for short term rentals as a licensed homestay. Check photos for permit. (The photo is cropped to protect our address and other information.)
Our neighborhood is convenient to downtown though not amidst the traffic and noise.
  • We had a very pleasant, and easy stay with Rebecca and Michael. They were there when we arrived and kind to share restaurant recommendations with us before we went to have a quick bite to eat. Their apartment is very clean, spacious, and comfortable and the room provided our own space.

  • This is a lovely place to land in Asheville. Super friendly hosts and the downtown is a short walk. Felt like we had our own space despite sharing the bathroom.

    Shaun2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • great location and the hosts gave us perfect tips for our first visit to Asheville. Clean and comfortable, and really nice people as well. This was our first airbnb, and the transactional stuff (communication, access, etc) could not have been better.

  • Rebecca was an amazing host, I felt in her house like in my own home. In my next trip to Asheville, I would like to be in her house again.

  • We had a great time in this great location with this friendly couple. We felt very welcome and loved hanging out in the hammock. We appreciated the recommendation for Jerusalem Garden Cafe. It was the best food we had in downtown Ashville, and was walking distance from our room. We would definitely stay here again!

This adorable throwback flat is located IN downtown. Private parking, walk everywhere. Epicenter of the south slope, you can walk to all the breweries within 5 minutes, anywhere downtown within 10 minutes. Second floor, 440 SQ FT apartment in historic house. 1 bedroom, living room with IKEA sectional/sofa bed, roku TV, equipped kitchen and bathroom with claw foot tub/ shower surround. In the same building as Studio C and Heart of Downtown listing, see reviews
Great downtown location and tons of charm. Things to note: If you are traveling with 4 people, there is space to accommodate but it will be tight in the living and sleeping area, hopefully you all like each other! TV has Roku with Sling and Netflix, etc...but not local channels for some sports and such, of course tons of breweries to walk to with games showing. No pets and no smoking on premises.
First mixed residential and office street in downtown, so a bit quieter but still lots of fun activity within seconds of the apartment.
  • Centrally located. Walkable to everywhere you will want to visit! Thanks again April!

  • The "B Flat" Downtown location is very convenient for exploring downtown and visiting breweries. It is a cozy space, but may be a bit tight for two couples travelling together. All in all, we enjoyed our stay in Asheville.

    Nicole2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! We had 4 people, and the space was cozy and perfect for our needs. In easy walking distance to downtown and tons of restaurants. Would definitely stay there again!

  • Super cute and adorable apartment. It really is close to everything. Easy to find and easy parking. Its a great space for a couple or a few friends!

    Tim2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for the proximity to the local breweries. This the the central point for the majority of the breweries in Asheville that we wanted to visit, and the non-walking distance breweries are a very quick drive away. April's place is charming and historic with all you need for a comfy stay. Highly recommend staying here.

    Johnathan2018-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • April's flat is in the perfect location! It was very clean and inviting, even a bit bigger than I expected from the pictures. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. Perfect for a long weekend.

For budget travelers who want to be downtown! Convenient location. No frills and not a fancy B&B. A place with history, character and real people. Clean and comfortable historic 100+year-old rooming house with a front porch, balcony and shared bathrooms. One of several short term rental rooms, this second floor room has a queen-size bed, is air conditioned in summer, includes a mini refrigerator, sink, upholstered chair, wifi. Lockable and clean. Bathrooms are shared with other guests.
This is a second floor room with a queen size bed, high ceiling and plenty of natural light from two large windows. Great views of Beaucatcher Mountain. At the Gray Rock Inn, downtown Asheville is right outside your door, and our reasonable rates mean your money can be spent on enjoying the city. Conveniently located on Biltmore Ave. and an easy walk to breweries, music venues, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants. The Gray Rock Inn is a great value, a "no frills" but clean and comfy place to explore the city from. Stay downtown for less - walk the city's streets and enjoy! Asheville is right outside at this historic inn where people of all walks of life feel at home. A place with charm, character and friendly residents and guests alike. Not a fancy B&B or chain hotel. Perfect for those who want to spend their time exploring downtown Asheville and not driving. Walk around downtown and enjoy its bustling and vibrant scene. Or, you can just sit on our front porch or balcony and relax. After taking it all in you can return to a private and secure setting. An historic inn with a background as interesting as Asheville. The Gray Rock Inn is a classic 100+year-old building, housing both short- and long-term residents in an International style, with shared bathrooms. And be sure to kiss the Bunkum Stone while you’re here. We are in strict compliance with fire and safety codes and have carbon monoxide detectors where they are required. Amenities: We provide Wifi, telephone, computer, coin laundry. There is a coffee maker on the second floor bookshelf. Relax on our balcony or porch. Slow down, unwind and enjoy the fresh mountain air and sunshine on our balcony. Or watch the parade of people from our front porch. Our large second floor balcony has commanding views of Biltmore Ave. and the mountains. Our covered front porch faces Biltmore Ave. with its bustling activity. Comfortable and clean bathrooms: Even though our bathrooms are shared, you might never notice. With two on each floor, locking doors and daily cleaning, you’ll be rest assured of privacy and cleanliness. And there’s rarely a wait. Water is solar heated.
The neighborhood is lively and diverse. Walk to world class restaurants, music, and craft breweries. Next door is a community food coop that is open to the public. Across the street are a popular, sometimes quite loud music venue, The Orange Peel, and Wicked Weed Brewery. Read about the Bunkum Stone (a landmark) by the front entry.
  • The room was exactly as described, and very comfortable. The host was very welcoming. Having a small refrigerator in the room and having a sink in the room were convenient. Location was excellent. We were attending a bicycle summit, and had our bikes with us. There was outside covered parking available, but we were also told we could bring our bikes inside. There was a nice balcony to sit on. There are not private bathrooms, but that was never a problem for us. Check-in was very easy. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Advertisement was on point. Hospitality was great. Perfect location. Walking distance to anything in downtown Asheville.

  • I had a great time staying at the Grey Rock Inn. John was great about communicating with me and answering any questions I had. He also was very flexible with me in terms of check in times. I stayed in 2 different rooms because I had to split my trip up due to a work commitment in Charlotte. Both rooms were extremely clean and had everything I needed for my trip including silverware and dishes. My first room did not have an air conditioner in place when I arrived, but within 1 day John had one put in. Right in time for a heat wave too! I would recommend John and the Grey Rock Inn to anyone and I will definitely be staying there again on my next trip to Asheville. You really can't beat the location either....your right across the street from Wicked Weed!

  • Fabulous location! JC was really friendly and helped us get oriented. We love to walk around new places and he gave us good pointers on where we could get to on foot (which is just about everywhere in downtown Asheville.) The room was comfortable and I appreciated having a sink in the room.

    Katie2016-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Gray Rock Inn was terrific. JC welcomed us with a great overview of the property and provided some tips on places to checkout during our stay in Asheville. The room was clean and exactly as described. Amazing location, close to everything. Wish we had more time here! Would definitely stay here again!

This is it - a rare downtown Asheville condo with a dedicated parking spot! (No more driving around in circles, paying exorbitant parking rates or feeding parking meters!). Since we are located downtown, that means you can easily walk to all your favorite AVL restaurants, shops and breweries. Our condo gives you quick and easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore Estate, and other nearby Asheville attractions.
Featuring bamboo floors, granite countertops, natural light, fully furnished modern decor, a full kitchen (complete with coffee maker, blender and toaster oven), new bedroom and bathroom linens, TWO brand new flat-screen TVs, a DVD player, and an in-unit washer/dryer, experience your private living space near the Western Carolina mountains. The futon converts into a full-sized bed for additional guests. Relax, and enjoy yourself in your own little sanctuary with all the comforts of home. We hope you enjoy your stay with us and enjoy Asheville!
We are steps away from the Civic Center and right off of I-240. We're located at the outer edge of downtown Asheville - close enough to be in the heart of it all, but far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city.
  • Fantastic Airbnb - location could not be better! Right in the heart of downtown Asheville - 5 minute walk to all shops, restaurants, bars, etc Parking space included - first floor unit...easy access. 10 minute walk or short drive to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Harris Teeter (all 3 adjacent to each other). Eva is a great host, excellent communication and very responsive. Big comfortable bed, deep soaking tub/shower, and the place was spotless.

This cozy, downtown hideout is the perfect place to escape reality and take in everything Asheville has to offer. Steps from all of the breweries, bars, restaurant's, shops, etc. You can find outdoor adventures galore in a short drive, or take a $5 uber to historic west asheville. Our eclectic neighborhood will make you fall in live with Asheville at first site. We look forward to hosting you!
  • Great location, short walk to many restaurants and bars. Clean, apartment, no frills. Great if you want to explore downtown and don’t plan on spending much time in your room.

    Ian2019-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • The host made communication, check-in, and check-out very easy and totally hassel-free, and provided some good personal suggestions for many types of activities. I really appreciate that paper goods, linens, and soaps were all provided as this also made my trip easier. The location was perfect in relation to downtown but it was extremely loud each night as it is right next to a big nightclub. I would have preferred a few simple things to make my stay more comfortable such as a curtain in the bedroom to block the very bright street lights, a place to sit comfortably, and a bath mat and/or rug for the chilly floors. It was really disappointing to see there was absolutely nothing in the kitchen, especially because this listing says breakfast included. I at least expected coffee, especially considering that there is already a Keurig machine there. I was shocked that there was not a single cooking utensil, pot, pan, or even microwave, forcing me to eat every meal out. The wifi information provided seemed correct but the wifi never worked the entire weekend. The TV in the bedroom would not turn on so that was never an option. It seemed relatively clean, but the shower was questionable - it appeared as if it was wiped down but maybe not thoroughly cleaned. It was a perfect location for walking easily anywhere downtown and it's fine if you're planning to be out the entire day, but I think it cost a lot of money for how little was included. There is no way to hangout comfortably at this place and it is nothing more than a pricey, warm place to sleep. I would recommend this place to others, but only if they were aware of how bare it is and how little is provided.

    Danielle2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We decided to stop in Asheville on the way back to DC. I had my labradoodle puppy so we needed a place that was pet friendly. We booked Jonathan’s place about an hour before we arrived. He responded quickly. The spot was tidy and Asheville is small so it was easy to get to local attractions. The only downside was the tv was not working and we rented a movie.

    Ambriah2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a simple, no frills, dog-friendly place to crash this fits the bill. The bed was comfortable, space was clean, and the location is very central to downtown.

    Caitlin2018-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • The place was fantastic! Right downtown close to all the shops, restaurants, and breweries so we could walk everywhere. There was a full kitchen stocked with everything we needed (exept food of course) so we could cook breakfast and dinner. The apartment was very clean, comfortable, and in a safe neighborhood so we didn't have to worry about anything. This was a great value and we will definitely stay here again for a quick weekend out of town.

    Steve2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Loved that we could bring our dog, could walk everywhere downtown, and had parking. The layout of the unit is a bit quirky. I’d describe as a junior 1 bedroom. There was a kitchen area with a table and 2 stools and then a bedroom with no door. The shower and toilet/sink were in separate rooms. This wasn’t a problem but might be helpful to know. Host was super responsive via phone and this seemed to be best way to get in touch with him.

    Melinda2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan’s place was a minute walk from the south slope brewery district. Wonderful location! Apartment was simple, but clean. Offered coffee, basic amenities, and an inviting space! Highly recommended.

    Ashley2019-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for a complete city vibe and everything was within a couple of blocks! Jonathan was quick to respond when we had an issue with our television! Also, breakfast was not available as advertised in the listing but our intent was to walk the streets of Asheville for the experience and the local restaurants were wonderful! The room was what we expected for the price we paid! I would return in the future!

  • Everything as advertised: great space, lovely amenities, nice backyard and patio, comfortable front porch, great beds...what more could you ask for? Oh yeah, how about a nice 10-minute walk to just about any part of the main drag in downtown (Biltmore/Broadway). Lovely walk through a garden and over a pedestrian bridge brings you to Marjorie St. A block down that ends on Spruce, where turning one way puts you down on the middle of Biltmore while a turn the other way puts you on College St and a short walk to the beginning on Broadway. Really convenient! Parking in front of the house is somewhat fluid, but we only moved the car one time in 4 days anyway, and found a spot in sight of the house no problem. Quiet neighborhood. Despite the run-down appearance of some of the houses, we never felt unsafe at any moment. The inside of the house was just lovely, with hardwood floors, nice furniture, great HVAC system...really all you need for a wonderful stay in Asheville. We will be back.

This one bedroom, one bath studio is located in the back of my beautifully restored 1920s bungalow in downtown Asheville.
The studio apartment, located in the back part of my house, is decorated with a mix of modern and vintage furniture. Some have been in my life for a long time, some brand new to the space, and art made by me hangs on the walls. There's a small kitchenette with table and chairs, a bedroom with exposed brick from an old cooks stove and a living area with a futon-style couch. The full bath has a claw foot tub/shower that has a custom copper curtain rod and antique heirloom vanity. This is a perfect retreat for two people.
The beauty of the house not only lies in all of its charm, but also in it's location! There's a unique Whole Foods, called Greenlife, right across the street and Trader Joes is a couple blocks up from that. If you fancy yoga, Asheville Yoga Center is about three blocks away, on Liberty Street. In the other direction, a lovely greenway runs along Reeds Creek, or you can simply stroll around the eclectic neighborhood. Historic Montford, one the oldest neighborhoods (and in my humble opinion, the most beautiful), is a block away and the architecture is truly inspiring. My favorite coffee shop sits at the bottom of the street, called High Five Cafe. Don't let the hip tattooed baristas intimidate you- the coffee is delicious! Most importantly, all of downtown is just a 5-10 minute walk, complete with shopping, museums, restaurants, breweries, bars and music venues.
  • Christal's home is lovely, comfortable, and the perfect place to stay in Asheville. Short walk to lots of restuarants, shops etc. She was quickly responsive to our questions. We loved our stay and will definitely stay again next time we're in town. Highly recommended!!

Prepare to get comfortable in this condo in the heart of downtown Asheville. This desirable location puts you walking distance to anything; breweries, amazing restaurants and shopping. Legally permitted short term rental with the City of Asheville
In the heart of the city this place is for anyone who wants to explore Asheville and does not mind a very urban location. You will be right off Lexington Ave, the funkiest street in Asheville. Surrounded by restaurant and bars nightlife is footsteps away.
Location Location Location you are footsteps from Lexington Ave one of the funkiest streets in Asheville. Everything is at your finger tips. Lexington Ave Brewery 300 ft away One World Brewery .2 miles Asheville Brewing Co .4 miles Wicked Weed .4 miles Hi Wire .5 miles Table, my favorite restaurant is right around the corner. Curate, Limones, Rhubarb and Cucina 24 are all with in minutes of an easy walk. High Five Coffee bar just opened a second location two doors down from the condo. It is the best coffee in Asheville. 5 Walnut Wine bar is also very close, along with Early Girl Cafe for the best breakfast in town. Civic Center .2 miles Orange Peel .5 miles
  • We had a great stay at Studio Lex over the weekend, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay right in the middle of the downtown Asheville action. You can walk to the best that downtown has to offer in 5-10 minutes. The condo is nice and modern, with huge tall ceilings, a well-appointed kitchen, a good bathroom with soaker tub, and giant windows that let in the best morning light (if you want to raise the blinds). The view isn't spectacular from the condo windows, but you do get some mountain views, and you're downtown, so if you want views, stay on the mountain or in a high-rise hotel. This area is close to a lot of bars and restaurants, so the nightlife can and will be noticeable. If you're in early at night, or the noise bothers you, there's a white noise machine that drowns it all out. We were there with our 3 month old and the noise was not really a problem. He slept through the night the whole time we were there. We got there around midnight on Thursday night, and there was some club music reverberating through the condo from below, but when we told Melissa the next day, she made a call, and the late-night music never returned. Parking (normally the bane of my Asheville experience) was a breeze, as there are two huge parking decks right across the street. We used the car twice all weekend: to go hiking, and to go to Sierra Nevada in Mills River (totally recommended by the way). We walked everywhere else with ease. Melissa was a great host and checked in via email to make sure we had everything we needed, but she was not at all intrusive. We couldn't get the fireplace working, and when we told Melissa, she sent someone over, who although they weren't able to get it working, was very kind and even gave us a 6 pack of local beer as a way to apologize. I've been coming to Asheville since the late 80's and this was definitely one of my better stays in the city, thanks to this fantastic condo. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again. Pros: highly walkable location, fun, modern apartment, easy to get in and out, felt like a local, wonderful host Cons: some nightlife noise, pillows (bring your own)

  • This was our first Airbnb experience and I have to say it's going to be hard to beat! The loft is located in the PERFECT location in downtown Asheville for shopping, eating, exploring. Can't be beat. Our jaws dropped when we went in. The photos are awesome but wait until you see it in person. The process was hassle free and streamlined. We won't stay anywhere else when we visit Asheville in the future. Our new home away from home. :) Thanks so much for everything! We absolutely LOVED it!

  • Great spot! Would definitely recommend this space to anyone traveling to Asheville.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed making Mellissa’s place our home base during a 5-day stay in Asheville. The location could not have been better. Our car never left the super-convenient parking garage across the street. The best coffee in town (High Five) is steps away. And all of Asheville’s world-class restaurants and breweries are minutes away by foot or by Lyft/Uber. For a traveling couple, the apartment offers everything you could possibly need: comfy bed, tons of space with great lighting, out-of-the-way storage for unpacked suitcases, full laundry in the unit, a well-organized closet with shelves, drawers, and hanging racks, a kitchen that we would have loved to use were it not for all the yummy local foods we ate while strolling around. You won’t go wrong with this one. We can’t wait to return.

  • Awesome!

    Mellissa2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location for everything downtown Asheville has to offer. Very private entrance, and super secure. Directly across the street from a reasonably-priced parking garage. Absolutely beautiful and wide-open studio-like space with one of the most comfortable beds, ever. Everything was sparkling clean and in great working conditions. No complaints at all. Great and well-stocked kitchen. Spare mini toiletries in bathroom. Nice washer and dryer. Cozy heated fan in bathroom for those chilly winter mornings. There was only a little ambient noise from outside from either late night revelers or garbage trucks in the AM, but you’re in the center of a lovely and lively little city! Absolutely recommend this place.

This small room is perfect for the solo traveler, with a twin bed, sitting chair, writing desk, refrigerator and shelves.
  • I had a great stay. The location can't be beat for exploring the south slope brewery scene and the surrounding mountains/forests. As advertised, this is a great basic room for a single traveler who would rather spend their time outdoors rather than indoors. Thanks to other review posts, I used the overnight parking at the Aloft as this was easier than trying to find a spot on the street during the busy weekend. I would stay here again if I returned as a single adventurer.

    Casey2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb worked perfect while taking a class nearby. It was just as advertised with pleasant hosts and a great price!

    Beth2016-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • I would call this Inn a true hostel. It is the last building at the edge of town. I felt safe but I was noticeably watchful. I would recommend this place to hikers needing a bed and a shower/bath down the hall.

    Dejie2017-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • My room at the Gray Rock Inn was absolutely perfect for me. It was extremely affordable, walking distance to everything in downtown Asheville and an easy drive out of town. The host was awesome and most importantly, as a female solo traveler, I felt safe.

    Debra2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The location is absolutely superb and everything was very clean and organized. Check-in was timely. Bathrooms are shared, but I never had to queue or wait.

    Heidi2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The grey rock inn was super easy to find and in an awesome location within walking distance to all of Asheville. John and staff were very helpful upon arrival and I found the room to be clean and just enough space to crash. I would recommend this listing to anyone on a solo journey to Asheville looking for a prime launching point to the downtown or outskirts area.

    Jay2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • John and Kathleen were very kind in responding to my last minute cancellation due to the death of my uncle just hours before I was scheduled to check in. They communicated in a prompt and friendly manner throughout the entire reservation process. I would recommend the Gray Rock Inn to anyone visiting Asheville and looking for a unique accommodation. The location can’t be beat—walking distance to everything you might want. Right across the street from renowned music performance venue The Orange Peel.

    Judy2018-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The room was perfect for a single traveler. It is an extremely close walk to everything you need downtown and the parking garage I parked in (aloft) was close as well and cheap. Would definitely recommend to anyone that is traveling alone and wants a inexpensive and close place to stay.

  • We really enjoyed our stay and especially appreciated the convenient location. There was a Green Life grocery store just across the street where we had a breakfast buffet on our first morning. We were walking distance to downtown, but it was very cold so we took the car!

  • Brandee's apartment was exactly what we needed for our Asheville trip - quaint, easy walk downtown, easy parking, convenient to the highways, and a killer recommendations book with everything from restaurants to hiking trails!

  • Location, location, location!!! This place is perfect if you are wanting to explore downtown Asheville and also have a private little outdoor area. It's everything you need and nothing more. We brought our two dogs along for the stay and they loved the place as well.

    Scott2013-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was exactly as it was listed. My wife and I enjoyed being able to walk from the house to all of the shops, restaurants, and other events downtown. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and easy to get to. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip.

  • Our experience at five points was very enjoyable, and relaxing. Brandee was kind enough to provide us with basic necessities such as toiletries and kitchen supplies. The room was clean and decorated in a pleasant manner. Brandee was available via email and text if we had any questions, overall great place to stay if you are staying in Asheville.

    Rob2015-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in B's beautiful studio. We had everything we needed! The location was absolutely perfect, and B was an awesome host! I would go back and stay in a heart beat :)

    Victoria2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We felt at home as soon as we walked into this welcoming space. The kitchen had everything we needed to make hot tea, hot chocolate, or coffee, and a meal (had we desired to do so -- so many great restaurants within walking distance). The surroundings were comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Wish we could go back!

If history repeats itself, then may it always be a replay of Asheville’s Gilded Age. If walls could talk, then a centenarian newsroom would have some spectacular stories to tell. And if location is everything, then The Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street is the epicenter of all things Asheville. Welcome to the intersection of past & present, to stories of the Gilded Age, and to the ideal home base for Asheville vacations. Welcome to The Daily Condo 201 @ the Asheville Times Building.
Historic Building, Iconic Views! Heart of Downtown w/ Private Outdoor Space Once home to the Asheville Times, the local afternoon newspaper and now the city’s most antique-chic address, this is IT: a 1-bedroom, 1-bath, 500 square-foot condo that breathes Asheville history, embodies the Gilded Age spirit, and incorporates all the modern amenities of the 21st century. HIGHLIGHTS (many more details, below) ------------------ •• Stay in the Shadow of the Gilded Age •• → Asheville, built post-Industrial boom and riding so high it was almost Depression-proof, is unique among Southern cities. So, why would you stay anywhere but in the historic center? Located in the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street, The Daily Condo 201 represents the heart of iconic Asheville: in the shadow the Jackson Building (check out that view!), at the start of the Urban Trail arts & history tour, and with easy access to the city’s exceptional dining, nightlife, and culture. Walk Score: 86 – “Very Walkable”! •• Historic yet Contemporary Design•• → From soaring ceilings to original hardwoods, from antique doorknobs to one-of-a-kind artwork, from leather seating to century-old balustrades, the Asheville Times Building preserves the old while incorporating all the must-have new. •• Private Outdoor space •• → Outdoor space may be hard to come by in downtown, but not at The Daily @ 120 College Street! Step out onto your own 160 square-foot, private brick-walled terrace: enjoy a meal (or just a drink) at the bistro table (seats 2), check out the western views over N. Market, and drink in that sunset. •• Walk in the Footsteps of ASHEVILLE’S EARLIEST NEWS REPORTERS •• → There’s nothing more Asheville than living, breathing history. The paper – which changed ownership and names from The Asheville Daily Gazette, to The Gazette-News, to The Times, to The Asheville Times – witnessed the Golden Age of William Sydney Porter (pen name: O. Henry), Thomas Wolfe, and F. Scott Fitzgerald, among other Asheville art royalty. Indeed, 120 College Street is THE creatively prestigious address in Asheville. •• Modern Amenities •• → From a 43” Smart TV’s wall-mounted in both the living room and BR, to streaming entertainment, dimmer lights to a street intercom system, blackout shades to keyless entry, portable speaker, and stainless steel appliances, The Daily Condo 201 in the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street has all the modern comforts you crave. •• Fast WiFi •• → Go on, upload that Asheville selfie! With fast WiFi, you’re as connected as you want to be. •• Easy Parking •• → You don’t need a car at 120 College Street but if you bring one, you’ll be happy to know that parking is easy to find, in lots, parking decks, and on street. •• Locally Managed •• → Don’t underestimate the value of having an Asheville local in your back pocket! From filling you in on secret, no-signage bars, to being on-call 24/7 to help in a late-night emergency, to remote-rebooting the WiFi at a moment’s notice, our 100% local service delivers both a great experience and peace of mind. •• Perfect for Groups •• → Traveling with other families or as a group? Good news! We manage three one- and two-bedroom properties at 120 College Street, to accommodate a total of 8 guests. ☀☀☀ Antique-Chic DESIGN ☀☀☀ The Daily Condo 201 at 120 College Street is a special place. It’s probably not like anything you have at home, but it is exactly the historic-yet-contemporary feel you seek in Asheville. It is historic. It is completely renovated. It is period-perfect. It is home. Or, a home-away-from-home, at least. Each of the three properties, The Gazette Condo 200, The Daily Condo 201 and The News Condo 202 the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street rises to 10-foot ceilings and blends select antiques with new pieces, modern furnishings with neutral tones, sleek lines with strategic pops of ebullient color. Architectural walls dull sound, the kitchen is fully stocked, the closets are custom, and the bathrooms are completely renovated. You’ll sleep like a baby, thanks to custom drapes and blackout shades. This is where modern meets old world, and it couldn’t be any more Asheville. It’s the perfect complement to your historic downtown experience, complete with a 160 square-foot outdoor terrace and bistro table seating for two. The Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street was originally built in 1914 for the Asheville Gazette-News; (later, the Asheville Times), occupied 120 College Street until the 1930’s. Fun fact: In 1929, Thomas Wolfe would forever immortalize this time in his highly autobiographical first novel “Look Homeward, Angel,” a coming-of-age story that mirrored his life in Asheville and experiences at his mother’s famous boardinghouse, Dixieland, "the most famous boardinghouse in American fiction.” Just two blocks north on Market Street is the restored Thomas Wolfe Memorial State Historic Site and welcomes visitors Tuesday-Saturday. ----------------------------------
☀☀☀ Welcome ☀☀☀ Welcome to the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street, the historic and cultural center of downtown Asheville and former home to The Asheville Times. Welcome to a historic building that still unfolds over original hardwood floors, five-panel doors, antique doorknobs, banisters, and railings. Welcome to a home-away-from home located above the Black Mountain College Museum and Art Center and with its own private terrace. A downtown condo, just footsteps to fine restaurants and trendy nightlife, art galleries and antique shops. Yes, it’s safe to say – this is it. You’ve found it. Over 500 square-feet of historic space, The Daily Condo 201 offers a blend of antique and contemporary furnishings, neutral tones and bright pops of green and yellow, solid woods and airy windows, architectural touches and high design. ☀☀☀ LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! The Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street is your no-compromise-required destination: at the intersection of past and present, in the shadow of the Jackson Building and overlooking Pack Square Park, and enveloped by the energy and charm of downtown life. The Daily Condo 201 embodies and embraces the Asheville scene – a scene that draws designers and artists, creatives and music lovers, foodies and artisanal beverage aficionados alike. History: From the 120 College Street, you’re just minutes to many of Asheville’s historic landmarks, including the Vance Memorial, Monument Corner, the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, and Asheville’s historic Flatiron Building, not to mention numerous statues, plaques, and monuments that commemorate the city’s past. The renowned Blue Spiral 1 Gallery and Momentum Gallery are a couple of blocks away and the Black Mountain College Museum + Art Center is right downstairs. Festivals: From Downtown After Five (once a month, in summer) and the Lexington Avenue Arts Fest, to Drum Circle and Art in the Park, downtown Asheville and the River Arts District are ripe with arts, culture, and creative pursuits. ----------------------------------
  • We had a lovely stay here! All the amenities are top notch, every drawer is labeled so you won’t have any questions on where to find things, the shower is heavenly, and the location is truly right within downtown! Would highly recommend!

    Allison2019-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very convenient to all the sights in downtown Asheville! Highly recommend if you’re looking for someplace walkable. It was very clean and had great amenities!

    Brittany2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Very nicely decorated. Excellent patio. Only downside was a lack of sound insulation between units and hallway. You could hear conversation between the unit bedrooms and hallways.

    Mike2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely a must-book! Karen goes above and beyond in terms of supplying her guests with everything they would need during a stay. Coffee, water, wine, make-up wipes...it was very unexpected, but much appreciated. The condo is lovely and is centrally located, so you can easily walk to all that downtown Asheville has to offer. This will be our new go-to choice for our annual friends' trip for sure!

    Sarah2019-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended, very clean and modern. Centrally located to the breweries on south slope as well as other downtown attractions/eateries. Easy check-in/out process but recommend leaving the car at home otherwise you will be subject to public parking (read $$).

  • Great spot in downtown Asheville. This is a great spot for a single traveler or couple. The apartment is well appointed and conveniently located. Comfortable bedding is provided. Be aware that due to the location, street noise can be quite loud. You may want to bring a white noise machine or fan if you need quiet to sleep. Many nice touches in the apartment including a lint roller in the closet, lovely patio space, and a full size refrigerator. Was also pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of wine on the counter on arrival.

    Cris2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I came to Asheville for a 3 day weekend and it was both of our first time visiting. The location is great, walking distance to tons of restaurants, shops and cafes. The apartment was extremely clean, and tons of thoughtful amenities like a bottle of wine, coffee, and makeup wipes! The bed and pillows were comfortable and the space was perfect size for us two and the balcony is great to get some fresh air and have a cup of coffee. I highly recommend this stay!

    Alexa2019-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn’t have imagined a more beautifully styled, immaculate condo in the heart of downtown. The location is walking distance to so many restaurants. We will most definitely book with Karen again.

  • Location, location, location. This is a historic residence right in the center of downtown Asheville. I was in town for the annual Asheville Comedy Festival and was able to walk to all of the venues and related events within minutes. The room was small, but clean with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Can't beat it for the price. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

  • The Grey Rock Inn is a magical place that attracts magical people. This historic Inn is situated in an ideal location in downtown at 100 Biltmore. Music venues, restaurants, shops, and all the sights of the city are just a few steps away. The owner and staff embody the Asheville spirit of loving kindness. The residents of the Inn are also fantastic people. The shared bathrooms are sparkling clean thanks to Martin who lives on premises. The office manager and maintenance people are also friendly and helpful. You might even like the place so much that you decide to become a permanent resident. That's what I did! :)

  • I liked the idea of a room right in the heart of Asheville where I could walk to everything. I am not used to hostels but the hospitality and single room were great. The music venue across the street had shows each night of the weekend but did not keep me awake at all. I plan to return.

  • I had a great stay in this airbnb! The employees were very friendly and helpful. It was really at the city centre and it was easy to go everywhere by foot. I especially liked the view from the window and that my room was very well equipped with even a knife for fruits and soap for cleaning the dishes.

  • I enjoyed my stay. The house is very charming, located close to downtown and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. I especially enjoyed the porch!! The room was clean and had everything I needed. Very clean and comfortable. The shared bathrooms were always clean and available. The staff was very kind and communication was great. Easy checkin with a lock box. I recommend this place for your stay in Asheville.
