The Old Post Office Cottage in Furnace on the shores of Loch Fyne provides very comfortable family accommodation comprising an open plan lounge/dining/kitchen, garden/family room, 3 bedrooms, family bathroom, WC and utility area. Of traditional stone build dating from the early 1800s, it is ideally located for exploring Argyll, one of Scotland’s most beautiful areas with Inveraray to the north, Crinan and Kilmartin to the south (Sunday Times July 14th 2019).
“In the historic village of Furnace it is a beautiful and relaxing space with a large garden room, dining area, TV space with freeview via Sky and a large kitchen. My job requires that I have access to broadband and often when I come to Scotland this is a bit hit and miss but I had no issues. The cottage has Wi-Fi which was solid throughout the house and the internet connection was fine although I didn't have to use it in anger The cottage is about eight miles from Inveraray and fifteen miles from Lochgilphead. It is an easy drive to both. There is a co-op in Inveraray and a Tesco Express which opens until midnight in Lochgilphead and the village has a small post office which has a very limited stock of groceries. Oban is an hour away, Campbelltown is 90 minutes and there are plenty of walks, the village itself has it's own "Furnace Walk" . Although the village is on the side of the loch, you can't see the loch from the cottage, but a short walk to the south edge of the village will take you down to a stony pebble beach with fantastic views down Loch Fyne. Highly recommended whether you want a quiet, relaxing space to chill and recharge or need a family base to see the Western Highlands and Kintyre Peninsula.”
Welcome to your Private Double Room and bathroom upstairs in our home, you can have breakfast and relax in the conservatory. We, Russell and Kate, live here with our dog Ollie on the Eastern Shore of Loch Fyne, Argyll, Scotland. We are just 5 miles from the amazing Inver Restaurant and can arrange transport to and fro. We are 2 miles from the closest restaurant and 20 miles from most others so please think ahead and book if you want dinner, we can help if needed.
“Just lovely. A wonderful one night stay. We came for a meal at Inver, which only was a short taxi ride away. And as lovely as the meal was, our stay with Kate and Russell was just as memorable. Really welcoming and friendly. The views are just stunning. The room was great. Useful local tips. And after all the rich food at Inver, a light and simple breakfast was just what we needed. Plus you must get a quick tour around their garden and greenhouse! Highly recommended, and we’ll be back again if we can.”
Simple, Comfy and Welcoming room in cottage beside Loch Fyne. This listing is complimentary to my other listing of "Tigh Beag: Simple, Comfy and Welcoming". It lists an extra double bedroom (with King-size bed) in my cottage - available to accommodate extra guests attending local events.
“We had a great time at Fiona! We found easily thanks to the explanations, then we came across a house even more beautiful than in photo. We enjoyed eating and eating on the veranda with a great view. We then had dessert on the edge of Loch, it was magic! The bedding is even better than at home, it was a big room with the view too and we had our bathroom with everything we needed. We were greeted by a truly charming, dynamic, caring person who lovingly prepared an excellent homemade porridge. A place and a unique person that I advise everyone to discover!”
