“Aaron's place was an absolute little slice of sanctuary. The bush retreat was located in a very isolated and quiet part of Strathewen but also close to Kinglake national park and a delicious local bakery cafe'. At the same time, the place is quite new and spotless clean and has everything we would need and make our stay comfortable. It’s got a cooktop, microwave, fridge, all the kitchenware, bathtub, wooden fireplace, outdoor bbq, nice view from bedroom and bathroom to the garden, etc. We also loved the company of Lucy, a wonderful and lovely border collie, who was always up for a good pat. My partner and I absolutely enjoyed the place's serenity, the garden walk, Aaron and his partner's hospitality including a great conversation over dinner. Highly recommended for quiet getaway from city or suburb life.”
The Guesthouse, attached to our family home has many unique architectural features, ply panelling, recycled and salvaged timbers throughout. The bedroom is minimally decorated. The bathroom and small kitchenette with hand crafted timber features, opens out to an al fresco dining and cooking area with a private deck overlooking the paddocks and rambling bushland. Somewhere to reflect, listen to the birds and whisper gently to the horses. Come and stay, it's quiet here.
“Fortunate to spend a few days in this special little place that is Kate’s paddock right at the footsteps of Kinglake National Park. From the entrance you are welcomed by a good size veranda that is equipped with everything that you need to relax and unwind: stunning views of the paddock, swing to help you let your hair down and enjoy the views, the horses and the multitude of birds. There is also a BBQ if you remember that you also have to eat not only sightseeing and interacting with the horses. Good size kitchenette with everything that you need for cooking the yummy eggs that Kate has left in the fridge for you alongside the homemade bread, jam and beautiful selection of teas. Bathroom is sparkling clean and offers organic soap and shower gel. The room is absolutely gorgeous with big windows looking over the paddock and forest. The smell of wood is so inviting, go inside and you don’t know where to look first: at the comfortable bed, at the good selection of books and movies, at the beautiful branch that stands for a closet... And there is more, within 30 min you have so many beautiful wineries and on farm butchers or dairy farms. Furthermore, lots of great walks and waterfalls surrounding that area. Come and spend a great time in this wonderful place !”

The unit has a large entertaining deck, fitted out with a bbq and outdoor setting to enjoy dinner on a warm afternoon or soak up the morning sun. “Very comfortable cabin with great views of surrounding mountains due to its elevated position. Bring some carrots to feed the friendly Alpacas and Horse. Close to town so you are never far from anything you need. Enjoyed a relaxing stay.”
