Palleira (old Asturian pajar) is located in the Asturian west, privileged area for its natural landscape, where you can plan walking routes, btt, and access to the beaches of western Asturias and the Mariña lucense
“The house is gorgeous, the view from the terrace is to let the hours pass with its charm. The town is very family friendly, the hosts very hospitable and I have loved to meet. The area offers many possibilities, to get around by car or, simply, to stay in the village, to bathe in the river or to walk through the chestnut forests of the surroundings. A place for the calm and the enjoyment of the nature to which we wish to return ...”
in the historic Navia Park but with an Italian heart apartment for four people in a house consisting of other houses and the house where the owners live. It consists of a living room with sofa bed (two single beds), full kitchen, bathroom and bedroom (135 cm bed) .. possibility of using outdoor spaces, the covered patio, the bar area. Bicycles, canoes, rods and shooting arches are rented. Possibility breakfast and dinner with Italian cuisine.
“How to make a stop on the road the best experience of the whole summer. We decided to spend a few days here not to do so much road followed, thinking that it would be a not so remote place. After a good time of winding and narrower roads, we managed to arrive thanks to the indications that Liliana had previously sent us. The independent room of the main house but integrated into the whole. Rustic but very well conditioned. The house is very cozy but nothing compared to the hosts. Not at home, better. With Liliana's triumvirate, Stefano and Loki don't get bored. Indications and activities to have been one more week. And what a dinner ... :) We will return.”
Traditional and cozy stone house with good views of the natural environment that surrounds it and a balcony with the morning sun, in a remote valley in western Asturias next to a clean river. An hour from the coast and beaches and two from Oviedo. In the surroundings there is a wide variety of hiking and cycling routes. . This area has a special microclimate. It is located in a mountainous area but only 200m above sea level, very protected from the north and with good exposure to the south.
“El Mazo de Mon is the unique experience of living close to natural life: a house next to a river, in the middle of a valley, with no more noise than running water, birds or crickets. It is about living giving up the comforts that electrical appliances give since there is no 220-volt network, only a 5-volt charge for mobiles and LED lamps in the rooms powered by solar panel and battery. The house, with slate walls, has two floors, you enter through the kitchen that is well equipped, with a gas stove and a wood oven (winter only). Through the window there is access to a small field where you can eat or have snacks at the log table with chairs. There is awning for the sun. By the wooden staircase, you climb the bedrooms, wooden floor, wooden terrace and bathroom. The master bedroom is very large, with a double bed on the floor. The other is small with two bunk beds. The terrace is priceless, with wooden railing and views of the valley and the only house that can be seen (that of the hosts who live in front across a beautiful bridge, also made of wood). The sunrises, the sunsets, the moon and the stars seen from that terrace are wonderful. The whole landscape is green, lush, with all kinds of trees. The river is small with waters like glass, and cold, typical of the mountains. The water that is drunk in the house must be taken in carafes from a spring a hundred meters away and you realize its quality when you return home to drink the "drinking" water. The walks on the trails in the area are for prepared people, in the sense that they are not flat, but very steep, (mountain shoes or hiking!) In any direction. But the effort is worth it, the forests deserve it. Like the walks up and down the river, in summer with a flow that does not exceed half a meter or less, fully passable. But proper footwear is required as crabs, the riverbed is very slippery boulders. And it is also bathable ... if you have courage (the water is cold!) If you are looking for the connection with nature, meditation, contemplation ... this is your place. To consider : There is hardly any mobile coverage, only in 2g and little (not 3g or 4g), so the idea is precisely to be in an environment of pure nature with a diet of urban civilization. Forget about laptops that require 220v power or any other electroque does not go to batteries. The two rooms are connected only with curtain, (without door). And the bathroom must be visited by leaving the terrace balcony and crossing the main room. Being an ecological house without connection to the sanitation network, all human waste must be specially treated: With them compost is made for the garden based on throwing sawdust. sawdust. It costs a bit to get used to this system for the very urban ones. When you are in a forest, you must wear the corresponding protections against insects: there are flies, mosquitoes, etc. In the area sheep and donkeys graze free, so it is normal to step on droppings, so it is mandatory to take off your shoes before entering the house and wear shoes outside the house, in the house wear socks. El Mazo de Mon is an ecological project of Laura and Gideon recovering the Asturian way of life, growing and using the food of the earth, animals and building with the materials that the earth gives you, slate and wood. We will come back.”
