“A quaint piece of Nova Scotia little fishing villiage experience. If watching a beautiful sunset over the amazing Bay of Fundy, with a bottle of valley made wine, in the warmth of a hot tub with the one you love, isn't on your list of romantic get aways, it should be! There is lots to do. Great hikes, quaint towns and shops, and excellent restaurants. We love the valley and the Boathouse. Heather made it all amazing! We will be back.”
Our little house is located in the beautiful coastal forest of Baxter's Harbour, Nova Scotia. It is tucked in the woods, 1km away from the road and 1 km away from the majestic Bay of Fundy! The off the grid installation allows for lighting and laptop/cellphone usage.
“This is an absolutely wonderful place to get off the grid, enjoy nature and some time alone, and feel safe and cozy while you do so. The cottage is surrounded by forest and is far better equipped than I'd expected: the kitchen has a grater, colander, and many other little things that you don't find in a bare-bones kitchen; there are lots of extra blankets and pillows; and the couch is super comfy. For electricity-free entertainment indoors, it has board games and a great, very eclectic collection of books that will do for almost any taste. The walks in the area are lovely, including the dramatic coast of the Bay of Fundy and the peaceful woods behind the cabin. Be sure to go down to the river, especially if you're there on a hot summer day. Andrée-Anne is an excellent host who met us when we arrived and offered firewood (even though it was June) because it was quite cold out. The wood stove is easy to use, and the whole family is very kind. I hadn't realized before staying there how peaceful a building would feel without the sound of a fridge humming away, but I spent hours simply listening to the absence of the sounds of mod cons. Truly, a beautiful place.”

“This was our 3rd stay, but our first in the warmer months and boy were we glad we chose this time of year to visit. We ate at the picnic table in the backyard both evenings and watched the sunset over the hills the first night. We took the time to take in some of the outdoor activities in the area by hiking Cape Split, visiting and exploring Baxter’s Harbour Falls (twice - once being at sunset) and two of the local wineries (one of which is right on the water and has a beautiful view of the mud flats). The space was perfect for our needs and there were even some new vinyls added to the collection since our last visit. We are already looking for dates we can book again before fall.”
