“We truly enjoyed our stay at the Erie Canal House! Here's what we loved: The kitchen was clean, stocked with coffee/cream/sugar and basics for cooking. The rooms were nice sized, well furnished, very comfortable. The front porch was our absolute favorite spot. It had its own heating element so we got to enjoy coffee on the porch despite the chilly weather. The history - oh my! Even if you are not a history buff, you will enjoy learning about Canajoharie, aka Flavor Town, and the history of the house itself. You will never know by how spacious, clean and modern that it was once an old mule barn. You can learn all about it's history and renovation in the photo album provided. The host - John was a very good communicator, and we even got the pleasure of meeting him when we arrived. The location - we loved rolling out of the house on our bikes and immediately hitting the Erie Canal Trail.”
Recently renovated flat two blocks from downtown where you'll find the oldest courthouse in the country and the birthplace of Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Our home is just 30 miles from Saratoga Springs. It's also a short drive to the Adirondack Park with excellent hiking trails, and the Great Sacandaga Lake and Caroga and Canada Lakes for boating, fishing, and swimming. We welcome people from all backgrounds and nationalities. We love to meet new people, but also respect their privacy.
“This flat was immaculate and very comfortable. The common area is small and cozy and I felt very comfortable there. The bedroom is quite spacious. The fridge had all the necessaries for coffee and light breakfast. Both a coffee maker and toaster are available for use. On the first night I was there I couldn't make the TV work, I contacted Bob and he came right up and took care of it. The following day I had a lovely visit with both Bob and Betsy. They are very pleasant and very gracious hosts, while at the same time not at all intrusive. I have already booked a follow up stay!”
