“If you come from a big city and looking for a unique Japanese experience, Jun san’s home is exactly would be perfect. We come from Tokyo and wanted a place where we are able to take everything slowly. On one day, we walked through farmland about 30 minutes to the local hot spring which has great water quality. On another, Jun san was kind enough to take us to the port area and the local fresh foods market where we stocked up on delicious and cheap fruits and vegetables. (Must try to the pear which is local speciality of Tottori). There is also a cheap and delicious ramen shop a few minutes walk away. If you get hungry at night, there is a 24 hour convenient store away also a few minutes walk away. Upon arrival at the station, Jun san picked us up. This was unexpected so it was a very warm gesture for him to pick us up especially we had a 2 year old boy and it was dark. So many great things to say about the home. As he is a professional architect, he designed and built the house himself. It was one of the most stylish houses we have ever stayed in, one that you would expect to be seen in a magazine. We felt like we were out camping and very close to nature because of the wide open design of the house and all the wooden features, but in fact at night we can resort back to our cosy rooms. Comfortable bedding, heater, clean towels and coffee/tea were all provided for. My favourite part of the house was definitely the fireplace stove area which was used as a heater and also to cook. We had sweet potatoes, apples and pizzas baked from the fireplace stove with a cup of coffee for dinner. That was the perfect evening for us! Jun san’s wife was also kind enough to offer us “oden” on the first night there. For us, the highlight was definitely seeing how Jun-San enjoys his life. We definitely would love to stay again in the future. Thank you for the memorable experience.”
