Welcome to Lake Manapouri, the hidden gem of the South. Our new 'suite style' bach is nestled in the heart of the best that Manapouri has to offer, with bush walks to gorgeous lake beaches a step out the door. Couples, and small groups will love this location on the doorstep of Fiordland National Park, while still only a few doors down from a bar/ restaurant, cafe / dairy and the starting point for Doubtful Sound cruises.
“When we drove into Manapouri, we were desperate for lunch so we stopped at "The Church" where we would also figure out where "The Bivy", our new 'crib', would be. It was practically right next door! Ideally located to Lake Manapouri (across the street) and up the hill from the excursion boat to Doubtful Sound, we found Carolyn's place to be just perfect. Bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Easy parking and entry. Very clean, very modern, with every convenience including a washing machine, lovely shower with good pressure, dishwasher, oven, stovetop, kettle & toaster, wi-fi, etc. It is a one bedroom but they have put another bed where maybe the couch would be, but I liked the setup much better. More relaxing watching night TV. Plus Carolyn has put a lot of energy into the instructions (found in a folder) for running everything. We were very pleased. Especially my husband, which is saying a lot! Btw, if you miss a booking for the Doubtful Sounds, you can catch "Mike" at his water taxi close by to take you across the harbor to a lovely trek. Get there before 11am. His return is 3pm unless you book it otherwise.”
Welcome to Fiordland! View Street, Manapouri; turn south west on your travels through middle-earth! 300m from the Doubtful Sound jetty, our one-bedroom cottage overlooks Fiordland and the Waiau river and is complete with all the comforts, including a wood-burning fireplace for cosy New Zealand winter evenings. Perfect for couples- our cottage is not suitable for children.
“A beautiful cottage, exceptionally clean and homely, with views of the lake. Lots of additional little extras in the kitchen. Fabulous location to take the tour to Doubtful Sound. Really enjoyed our 3 nights and enjoyed this beautiful location in preference to the more touristy Te Anau. Wished we could have stayed longer.”

“We had a fabulous stay at this cosy cottage. Communication beforehand with/from Myell was very good and self check-in was easy. The cottage is well-equipped and had a lovely outside deck and hammock, laundry facilities, an open fire, heaps of information about the area, and plenty of blankets (and even baskets of slippers and hot water bottles) for cooler evenings. It is a short walk from the departure point for Doubtful Sound. Would definitely recommend.”
