what a wonderful place. staying at miwa's house felt like a real insight into rural Japan. the house is so old and beautiful, and the location is stunning. the photos cannot capture how amazing the view is. nojiri is a lovely village with a cafe, shop, and all you could need but feels so quiet and tranquil. easy to get to tsumago and other stops on the train but nojiri and the atera ravine were the highlight of our stay! thank you so much for a beautiful experience!

It was our third time booking with Matt and Maya, and second time booking this particular cabin - we wish we could return to it much more often! Matt and Maya were responsive and helpful as ever, with clear and quick advice and guidance for any and all situations - including bus directions for when we didn’t have a car this time. Thank you!

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay! We were so grateful for Toshi and Hiromi’s gracious hospitality, from picking us up at the train station to helpful suggestions for hiking trails nearby, places to explore and eat, and enjoy all Nagano has to offer. Their place is centrally located in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of so much to do. We only wish we had planned to stay longer. We will definitely stay with Hiromi and Toshi on our next visit to Nagano.

This was an amazing stay — I can't recommend it highly enough! Satsuki and Isao are wonderful hosts. Satsuki welcomed us with homemade apple pie and juice, and surprised us with other treats during our visit. She also gave fantastic recommendations, including the snow corridor on Mount Yokote. The house is immaculate, full of interesting details, with a beautiful tatami room overlooking a pristine Japanese garden. Beds were very comfortable, and the insulated doors, reverse cycle air conditioning, and quiet washer/dryer made everything so easy. Great hiking nearby, a toy that amused the kids, and a TV with Netflix login — a perfect stay!
