Monthly Rentals in Pedra Furada, Montelavar

We spent a month at this countryside cottage in the mountains, and it was a wonderful experience. The place offers stunning mountain views and absolute tranquility, with neighbors far enough away that we had complete solitude. The house is well-equipped for a comfortable stay, including a fully stocked kitchen and a great outdoor barbecue area, which we used often. The self-check-in process was smooth and convenient. As with many places in Portugal, the house can be quite humid, and the evenings can feel a bit chilly due to the humidity, so it’s something to keep in mind. Additionally, a small part of the house, with a separate entry, belongs to the owner, who visited a couple of times during the month to tend to the garden on the mountain hill. This wasn’t disruptive, but it’s good to know in advance. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for those seeking peace and privacy, and we would love to return someday.

We could not be happier with our stay - in fact, in many ways, it was the best part of our trip to Portugal. Mata Pequena is centrally located between Lisbon and Sintra and Mafra. They've taken a set of 300+ year old homes and beautifully restored them - it was like living in our own little Hobbit Hole for a week. The fresh bread (and sometimes added goodies) in the morning was an over-the-top lagniappe, and the hosts were all so friendly and accommodating. We could not recommend this beautiful place more. Scrupulously clean, so much character, and two sweet donkeys ("Zé" and "Maria" 💛) at the end of the lane. We will definitely be back and will tell all our friends about this beautiful property.
