“Just a lovely, lovely place. If we could wrap it up and take it to other locations we want to go to, we would. Amazingly quiet given that its 2/3 minutes from Sainsburys/Aldi and little more than 5 mins from the centre of town. Two sofas so we could both lounge/read in comfort, nice big bathroom with rain shower and good bath. Having the bedroom/bathroom downstairs and lounge/diner/kitchen upstairs makes perfect sense with the windows as they are. Clearly a lot of work gone into restoring this for use, and we're very grateful. The chocolate cake on arrival (which we managed to eke out over three days) was a nice touch. Glad we found the footpath that runs down through the cemetery, briefly though a new estate, and then along field edges to the head of the Pocklington Canal - much nicer than the roads. Highly recommended to anyone (except for those days we want to return !)”
Charming en-suite garden room situated in the quiet rural village of Skirpenbeck. Seven miles from the market town of Pocklington, a 25 minute drive from the historic City of York and less than an hours drive from the East Coast. Perfect for cyclists, walkers and local wedding guests.
“A beautiful quaint space finished to a very high standard. All the amenities you’d need for a few nights to cook/shower/lay your head with lots to do with 30mins drive (or closer!) Kathryn was a great host, quick responses and made us feel really welcome, highly recommended for anyone looking to stay close to York but likes the quiet”
Superb luxury holiday accommodation. The Old Stables is a stunning barn conversion set in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. It has space in abundance, with a light airy contemporary feel yet retaining fabulous features such as the vast vaulted ceiling and the underfloor heating keeps you cosy on those chilly evenings. The Spectacular bi-fold doors open out onto a lovely patio, garden and hot tub area, which is a fantastic sun trap.
“Really lovely and fairly secluded property in a very quiet village. Enjoyed our stay and was the perfect base for our walk of the Yorkshire Wolds Way. Friendly and helpful host who was happy to help with the local area both before and during our stay. We didn’t get to use the hot tub as we were too busy walking but this would be big plus for many and it was spotless. Property itself is in the hosts garden and is a little overlooked but this didn’t cause a big problem and the hosts are very respectful. It is also very spacious and we slept very well. Also has the benefit of a small friendly local pub (Half Moon) which served good home cooked food and good ale which meant we didn’t have to drive in the evenings. Bonus.”
