  • Lovely little cottage just outside Abergavenny. Amazing views, stylish place and lots of lovely little touches. Hot tub a definite bonus! Easy to get out and about, and plenty to do in the area. Would definitely recommend.

  • If this place isn't booked up you'll be lucky. And there is a reason for that......its very, very nice. Modern and sleek but cosy and peaceful. In the middle of beautiful countryside, its so relaxing. Very clean, comfy with milk and butter in the fridge upon arrival and a cute little bottle of prosecco, all nice touches. So book if you can, you won't regret it.

  • We booked Daisy Lodge for a little weekend getaway and had a wonderful time there. I can only recommend it. The lodge was spot clean and we had everything what we needed.

  • Claire's place is as beautiful, if not better than the photos. The interior is modern, spacious and very comfortable. They are located amongst fabulous scenery (and down the road to a michelin star restaurant!) and our stay was very enjoyable. Unfortunately, the hot water was not working for the first evening/morning of our stay, but the hosts made up for it with it being fixed fast and a half-day extension to the end of our stay.

    Ben2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation, super hosts, beautiful setting. Highly recommend.

    Helen2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation is done to a very high standard, to the extent we enjoyed staying in more than going out. Both hosts were helpful and attentive and made our stay special. Thank you.

    Kate2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • I will definitely be coming back as this place is a little cozy gem. Close to a lot of attractions or just a good place to relax.

    Wynter2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful accommodation in a gorgeous setting. The lodge was stylish and spotless with all of the lovely extra touches you could ask for. There wasn’t a thing we needed that Claire & Justin hadn’t thought to supply. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. Would definitely recommend!

A newly renovated cottage in the grounds of a country house close to Abergavenny & the beautiful Black Mountains. Stylishly designed, it retains the stone walls, beams & arched windows of the coach house it once was. It's the perfect place to relax after a day in the Welsh countryside: There's a well equipped kitchen, a cosy wood burner (with a basket of logs & kindling), a smart TV, wifi, lots of books, 100% cotton bed linen, fluffy cotton towels & SenSpa bathroom products. Outside, the kitchen garden is a great place to chill & there's also a private courtyard right next to the cottage.
Court Cottage was once part of the stable yard of the country house to which it belongs. We have recently refurbished it - turning it into a lovely cottage that retains the original roof beams, stone walls, arched windows and doors. Outside, there is plenty of private space - including a pretty courtyard next to the main house, with a table and chairs. Guests can also use the South facing kitchen garden - where there's a bench that's a great place to read a book or take in the views of rolling countryside. There's space to store bikes under cover and an outside tap to wash down bikes, boots and wellies. Inside, you walk straight into the sitting room, which is open to the roof eaves. It has two comfy sofas piled with cushions, a wood burner for chillier days, a digital TV & DVD player, a selection of board games and lots of books & local guides. Through the old pine double doors is the cosy bedroom, with its large arched window and beamed ceiling. It has a king size bed with pure cotton bed linen and a blanket woven from local wool. The bedroom has plenty of hanging space and a chest of drawers (and lots of room under the bed for suitcases etc). There's a digital radio on one of the bedside tables, usb plug sockets and also a hair dryer. Next door is the stylish en-suite bathroom, with a roll-top bath and separate shower. White cotton towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap and shower gel are provided. There's a socket for electric toothbrushes or shavers. The kitchen leads off the sitting room. It has painted cupboards and a marble worktop, together with a kitchen table for two. There are two usb sockets near the table, making it perfect for working as well as eating. A large antique pine storage cupboard houses everything you'll need to cook up a feast (or microwave a ready meal...). There is a microwave, induction hob & oven, fridge with ice box, dishwasher and washing machine. Tea, instant coffee and sugar are provided - and there's also a cafetiere if you're a real coffee aficionado. There’s also salt & pepper and olive oil. We also provide a clothes drying rack, iron and ironing board as well as tea towels, washing powder, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. There is wifi throughout the cottage. There is central heating throughout & we also provide a first basket of logs & kindling for the wood burner.
Abergavenny, renowned both for its Food Festival and as the gateway to the Brecon Beacons & Black Mountains, is 4 miles away. There you'll find local shops, a really good butcher and bakery, as well as a great local cinema and some of the best restaurants in Wales. For wonderful walks & cycling, you're spoilt for choice: the Sugar Loaf & Skirrid mountains are very close by, as is the famous Offas Dyke Path.
  • It’s nothing that hasn’t been said before, but what a beautiful place. Quaint setting in a courtyard, peaceful, quiet and tastefully decorated. There’s also a huge stockpile of firewood to keep cosy. Absolutely recommend! (Maybe just take slippers in the colder months as the stone floor can feel cold!)

    Sophie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely beautiful. Well designed and incredibly tasteful. The location was very peaceful. I would highly recommend it and will definitely return.

  • A beautiful stay at this stunning cottage. Perfect for us for our birthday weekend. Cosy, beautifully decorated with a luxurious feel.

    Lucy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cottage - spotless throughout with great bath and shower. Comfy bed and lovely linen. Had a nice time relaxing after walking the nearby peaks. Plenty of places to eat nearby or stock up on food for the cottage. Very easy to find. Thoughtful hosts. Would recommend.

    Penny2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay at Joanna's beautiful cottage. As the weather wasn't amazing, we mainly stayed in, and felt really at home doing so. There was plenty of wood for the fire provided, the kitchen was amazingly well equipped meaning we could spend lots of time cooking, and the entire place was just really comfortable and cosy. The bath and shower we're lovely - it was very hard to leave!

    Emily2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was beautiful, even better than it appears on the photos. Joanna was also a great host who was easy to get hold of should we need anything. Location-wise there were plenty of shops (Aldi, Waitrose) and restaurants about a 10minute drive away and the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. There were a variety of local walks a short distance from the cottage, we drove a bit further afield into the Brecon Beacons national park to the four waterfalls walk which was about a 50-minute drive. I'd recommend this AirBnB and would happily come back.

    Greg2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Every detail well thought out and meticulously executed. A thoroughly wonderful place to stay in a beautiful part of the country andJoanna ensured we had everything we needed for a perfect trip.

    Ed2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed here for our first Christmas together and we cannot fault the airbnb or Joanna in any way. When we arrived, it was spotless, tidy and welcoming. She even sent us a message to ensure we had enough kitchen utensils to make our Christmas lunch the next day (we absolutely did, the kitchen is very well stocked!). It was a very special place to spend Christmas, and the grounds it's situated on are absolutely gorgeous. We went for a walk around the gardens and it was teeming with woodland wildlife (including the odd pheasant or two). Most importantly, it was absolutely silent! A perfect place to go if you want to get away from the city and hide away for a weekend, or ideally longer. This is an airbnb where the pictures really do not lie. I highly recommend booking a trip so you can see it for yourself. Worth every penny. Side note: my girlfriend accidentally left an item behind, and Joanna soon arranged for it to be sent back to us!

  • Barbara is a Lovely host who clearly really cares about everyone who stays here A brilliant place to stay too, great location and lots of touches which give it a nice home feeling Can’t fault it at all, lovely person, lovely place

    Christopher2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • You will get a warm welcome From Barbara. The accommodation shares a front door and stairway, but elsewise is self contained, and Barbara is happy to let you decide how much contact, if any, there is. There is a fridge/freezer, kettle and microwave which we found perfect for our needs. There are local pubs that serve food, more choice is available at either Abergavenny or Crickhowel. The canal that goes through Gilwern provides a relatively flat walking surface and way to enjoy the countryside as an alternative to climbing the many local steep hills.

    Vince2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Cwtch is a real find - extremely good value accommodation of a high standard. Barbara is a friendly and helpful host and there is nothing she has not thought of to make the Cwtch a welcoming and comfortable place to stay - I look forward to returning again in the Summer 😊

    Lesley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful find. The Cwtch has everything we needed. It was clean and warm with comfy beds and plenty of hot water for showers. Tea, coffee and milk were provided, as well as yummy welsh cakes. Barbara is a welcoming and helpful host. Our stay was fantastic value for money and we would highly recommend The Cwtch.

    Jill2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place and Barbara was very helpful, there was a minor issue with heating that was quickly resolved. Comms and check in were great. Sorry that I broke one of the wine glasses!

    Roger2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Cwtch was perfect for our needs. There was much more space than I expected, and having our own lounge which we could store the bikes in as well as relax in was also a bonus! Barbara was and excellent host: communicating promptly, offering advice for dinner and being extremely welcoming and accommodating. I would certainly stay again if I was in the area and would recommend. Thanks for looking after us!

Dating back to 1752 this rustic Granary has been sympathetically converted to retain its original features. Perfect for chilling out or walking, set in our family farmland with direct access to Offas Dyke footpath. Dramatic high ceiling oak beamed bedroom with ensuite. Cosy low beamed kitchen/diner with wood burning stove. The sunroom/lounge makes the very most of natural sunlight with rural farm views.
The dramatic high oak beamed ceiling of the bedroom provides a unique space combined with the modern convenience of an ensuite bathroom. The cosy kitchen/diner (originally where corn was ground in 1752), has a range of modern kitchen appliances including coffee machine. The wood burning stove is available for romantic evenings in and the sun room/lounge makes the most of sunny days.
The nearest village is about a three minute drive away or a pleasant twenty minute stroll across the fields. The local village pub has a great restaurant or bar meals and is open every day.
  • My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at this beautifully unique barn conversion. The space was spotlessly clean and has all the necessary amenities. Fresh bread, jams and butter were provided (delicious, thanks!) as well as tea, coffee and fresh milk. The log burner made the space really warm and cosy as it was a chilly night. The hosts were very welcoming and were on hand to help with anything we needed. A very peaceful and relaxing stay in the Welsh countryside, I highly recommend staying here!

    Matthew2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Granary is a great place in a beautiful location. Caroline was a fantastic host and even lit the log burner for us! The Granary has everything you need for a relaxing stay with stunning views. Would highly recommend 😁

    Craig2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Sue’s place was great. Just as shown on Airbnb. The fire was a treat and the conservatory great for watching the night sky. Lovely all round - highly recommended.

  • Lovely place, very helpful hosts. Great place to escape every day life

    Sarah2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for our lovely stay, all we wanted was peace, quiet, and beautiful surroundings which we got, the log burner kept us cosy and we had everything that we needed. Would 100% recommend ♥️

  • A great host, great place, great location. What else is there to say!? Will definitely stay again!

    Matthew2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We travelled to The Granary in ‘Storm Dennis’ and so very glad we did. It was warm, cosy, spotlessly clean and filled with character. Caroline came over to welcome us, she is absolutely lovely and made us feel so at home. Fantastic location for walking from the door, across owners land to Offa’s Dyke trail past the very vocal donkey 😀 but we spent hours in the spacious sun room enjoying the antics of the hens, the sheep and the hawks soaring overhead. On a clear night we gazed through the roof at the amazing dark skies....incredible!! This place exceeded all our expectations. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

    David2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We didn’t arrive until around 7pm. The host came out to greet us and explained what was in the house. She had already lit the fire so we were toasty warm straight away which was really thoughtful. There were also roses on the bed as it was Valentines weekend and roses in vases. The pub down the road we were recommended was brilliant. The pictures don’t do the place justice. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone. Perfect for a couples night away. :)

Skirrid Cottage is one of two cottages converted from a stone barn built in the 18th century. This peaceful retreat is set in 45 acres of ancient meadow and woodland in the foothills of the Black Mountains within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Skirrid cottage is surrounded by woodland and nature. It is lovely to be able to walk out of your front door on to private peaceful paths and to explore the countryside. Enjoy birdsong during the day and starry skies at night.
Skirrid cottage is in a secluded valley in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is on National Cycle Route 42 and close to the Cwm Coed-y-Cerrig Nature Reserve. Good local pubs include the Crown at Pantygelli and excellent restaurants can be found in Abergavenny - which also hosts an annual food festival.
  • We loved Skirrid cottage. Belinda was there to welcome us and the cake she made for us was a great way to start our holiday, very tasty. The cottage is spotless and so we’ll equipped. Definitely everything we needed for a long weekend. It was cosy and easy to relax in. We love it around this part of Wales and will certainly be back as we search for somewhere to live there. Thanks Belinda. See you again

    Jonathan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z

  • A lovely place to stay if you like walking and getting away from it all. There is not a pub or shop within easy walking distance so make sure you have enough supplies. Amazing walks up the hill where the views over the valley are spectacular. A lovely safe place for children and dogs.

    Megan2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A gem of a cottage! Everything you need and more for a relaxing break. Highly recommend- one of the nicest we’ve been to. Hosts are super - friendly and helpful but allow you privacy to enjoy. Can’t fault this place.

    Suzanne2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely nice and heartwarming, yet discreet hosts with a remarkable attention to details. Everything exceeded the pictures and descriptions provided here. Just perfect.

    Fabio2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • I freaking love this place! We have been before and we are already planning to return next year! Hubby and I wanted somewhere to get away that was quiet for our anniversary and boy did we get that! Be aware you are in between two mountains/hills? So phone signal is fairly non-existent but there is WiFi (if a little spotty). But that is what we wanted, we didn’t even turn the tv on we just chilled out for a few days. Being able to bring our dog Vixen is a massive plus and we even gained a dog in Sonny for a while! Just please please stay here (but not when I want to!) because it’s amazing as are Belinda and Roy!

Horseshoes, Old Lands' former stables, has beamed bedrooms, a cosy sitting room and dining area, and a well equipped kitchen and private courtyard garden. On site there's a local produce shop, a children's Forest School and 200 acres to roam in. Also we have Liam & Emma who offer massage & personal training.
Horseshoes sits in Old Lands stable yard to the west of the big house . With its climbing roses, worn red sandstone walls and gentle planting, the recently landscaped yard has the feeling of an old quad. For eating out, a long table in the archway under the clock tower is the perfect spot. On the ground floor of the cottage there's an open plan sitting room and dining area leading into a well equipped kitchen. The original stable box wooden panels and stone wall divide the space which opens into your own private courtyard garden with BBQ and seating. You can park your car just the other side of the garden fence gate. There's also a toilet on the ground floor. Upstairs are three comfy bedrooms with beamed ceilings and basic modern bathrooms/ toilets (a double bedroom with shower and toilet, a twin bedroom with toilet, and a single room adjacent to a shared bathroom and separate toilet). The big house, Old Lands, is a grand but kindly old place, lived in by the same family for over 200 years. You will undoubtedly stumble across one of the youngsters who lives there zipping up the drive on their bike with a Jack Russell in hot pursuit. The 1,000 acre estate with the new generation at the helm is in a period of transition, with a new emphasis on the setting up of and supporting of gentle sustainable projects on site. It’s a family affair with all the Bosanquet generations, old and young, playing part in making it come together.
Old Lands is within easy reach of the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, and Black Mountains and there are castles galore on the doorstep.
  • We had a great 10 day stay at Old Lands. Coming from North America, it provides a wonderful opportunity to stay in. a Welsh country estate. Cozy furnishings, beautiful Welsh textiles, convenient honesty shop and friendly people from the owners to other staff. The grounds are nice for a stroll, or weather permitting, a row on the lake - alas, for us the weather didn’t cooperate. We used Old Lands as a base for exploring many castles, abbeys, towns and pubs in the area. Highlights were Raglan (nice little onsite cafe), Chepstow, Skenfrith, and Usk castles. World Heritage Site of Blaenavon, and Roman site at Caerleon are must sees. Also the Lion pub in Trellech! Spectacular circle drive to Hay-on-Wye and back - amazing scenery!! It was always great to come back to Horseshoes at Old Lands and relax in the evening. We also enjoyed some meals catered by Penny - a great partnership with Old Lands. Thanks Sam, Clare and Amanda!!

  • Beautiful, quiet and private setting. Stylish, clean and quaint cottage. We absolutely loved our trip -- Sam gave us great suggestions on local hiking as well as activities on the property. Our kids LOVED letter boxing and it gave us something to do in the evenings after we had finished exploring the surrounding areas. Coming from the U.S., we liked that the cottage was centrally located to a lot of great attractions (Tintern Abbey, Highclere Castle, Bath, Cotswolds, Gower Coast, Brecon Beacons, etc). Wonderful place to stay for a family!!!

  • We had another lovely time staying at the fabulous Old Lands in the beautiful Horseshoes. Old Lands is such a tranquil, beautiful and special place with a lovely ethos and atmosphere. Horseshoes is a really stylish and comfortable place to stay. We hope to be back again soon! Many thanks.

  • The cottages at the Old Land Estate are a fantastic place stay. Clare and Sam are excellent hosts and they really go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. Staying at the Old Land Estate is an incredible experience all onto itself. It’s in a great location to be able to easily see the attractions in England and Wales. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to stay there for our trip.

  • This is a lovely converted barn with 3 good bedrooms. The cottage is great and well equipped and feels like home. We chose it because it was near to a wedding we were going to. But we discovered that the REAL reason to stay here is all about the grounds and the amazing focus on nature which the owners have nurtured. There are lovely walks through the parklands and fields, around the lake (where you can row too), and amongst their kitchen gardens and animals. The owner Sam is a serious naturalist and took us on a nature walk where he dipped ponds and caught insects and moths - this was full of gems of knowledge and fascinating creatures. It would be a great place to bring children, or to get some peace and quiet away from the world.

    Alex2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely three bedroomed five person self-contained cottage. Spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. Sam and Clare communicated brilliantly and openly and made sure all was ok. Lovely too that Sam spent so.much time on arrival talking us through things. Beautiful grounds very safe and generally just the best time. I even ate the spinach bought from the honesty shop. If you're looking for a break in mid-Wales this is a place to check out.

    Ian2018-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Old Lands is a great place to stay. Clare and Sam are excellent hosts. Communication before travelling is excellent and in our case they could even arrange Christmas decorations (tree and other green) in the house (Horseshoe)! The house is well equipped, many bathrooms, lovely mix of old furniture and modern styling and spotless. The Old Lands around Dingstowe Court (the main house) are great to stroll. The area is of outstanding beauty and you can do many things in the area: we played lots of golf, but there are many opportunities for walking, biking, fishing etc etc. We'll certainly return to this lovely place.

  • A lovely property in gorgeous surroundings. We played tennis and rowed on the lake. Fabulous. The accommodation was ideal. Very comfortable, and all amenities provided. Kitchen and bathrooms all well equipped and beds very comfy. Excellent all round. We loved it.

The Brecon Beacons are not far away for those that like to walk there is also the Sugar Loaf and the Black Mountains locally , the walk along the local canal in Abergavenny can also be completed while trying out the canal boat rides for those that prefer it . Coarse fishing can also be catered for locally

  • This cottage is very large and nicely laid out. It's in a lovely quiet spot, yet extremely accessible. I stayed for work so I didn't get out but there are plenty of attractions very close by. I would recommend abergavenny town, walks up the mountains or The Big pit is also surprisingly interesting. Also close by is Raglan play barn and farm which is awsome for kids. The cottage had everything I needed and I would definitely stay again. Thanks! Wendy

  • Zoe and Merv were absolutely top hosts. Friendly and really accommodating. A lovely cosy place surrounded by gorgeous horses, perfect for our small family (a couple with a 6mth old baby). The cottage is perfectly located for exploring the Brecons and rural Monmouthshire. We'll be back again! When there isn't the 'storm of the century' passing through again, hopefully!

Kingfisher Camp is a romantic hideaway set in the dimple of a hillside of a small farm in the foothills of the Black Mountains. The hut is available for anyone who is content to cuddle up by candlelight and light the woodburning stove to get cosy, or spend a night out by the fire, cooking food and star gazing. The perfect space for anyone looking to self isolate in a special location!!
It's a tin hut, warm and cosy, tucked away from the world with stunning views. Previous guests have described it as the loveliest wendy house ever. It will accomodate a couple - or two good friends. It is all one room, with a sofa bed at one end and the kitchen department at the other. We do ask that guests bring their own sleeping bags or bedding (double sheet/duvet cover and pillow cases) and towels, and firewood. Everything else is provided for cooking etc.
We live on the edge of a fantastic village in the lee of the Black Mountains. There is a wonderful village shop - Hopes of Longtown - which stocks everything you could possibly need and more and caters for all types of dietary preferences, with a large focus on locally sourced food. There is the Crown Inn in Longtown and the Cornewall Arms in Clodock, well worth a visit, and the walking in the surrounding hills is unsurpassed.
  • Was a great experience! Arrived to a warm welcome from Amber and he husband. Everything there needed for a stay with plenty of wood. Views and scenery are stunning. Highly reccommend to anyone wanting to get away.

    Liam2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amber's hobbit hut in the hills is truly wonderful. With the fire lit, we stayed warm and cosy despite the gales blowing outside. The futon bed was firm and comfy, the kitchen helpfully stocked with tea and other essentials, and the view from every window was breathtaking. We'll definitely be visiting again.

    Steve2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We visited the hut in early March and had a wonderful experience. The hut has all the essentials and wonderful views. The wood-burning stove kept us very warm and was great to cook in!

  • Great stay here! Small walk from a pub & shop. Great place to chill out for the weekend.

    Jamie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a peaceful, heartwarming place to stay and relax. The hut is so cosy and we felt instantly at home. The views were incredible and you have a lot of privacy! The place was toasty warm even during a storm and we had all the amenities we needed. Despite being off grid we still managed to cook some lovely meals with all the kitchen utensils provided. We didn’t want to leave! Thanks Amber!

Though small, we have a church, an inn and even a Post Office! The 13th century Church of St Cadoc is home to rare bats and some even rarer mediaeval wall paintings; our local, The Hunters Moon Inn, also dates from the 13th century but offers completely up-to-date meals, fine wines, real ales and continental lagers in charming and cosy surroundings. Llangattock Lingoed is on the Offa’s Dyke long distance path and there are many other walks through our beautiful countryside. We are only 9 miles from the market town of Abergavenny, offering an ideal base for visiting the local castles and Roman ruins, browsing the book shops in Hay-on-Wye, seeing the industrial heritage of the South Wales Valleys, soaking up the atmosphere of Hereford with its Cathedral and the Mappa Mundi, or enjoying our lively Welsh capital city of Cardiff. Ideally located in a quiet village but close enough to Abergavenny for shopping, with plenty of walks on the doorstep. All in all an perfect cottage for a short break in the countryside.

  • We stayed two nights here over a late January weekend. It was a fabulous getaway, the place was close to the pub, just a three minute walk, and in a beautiful village close to Abergavenny and the Black Mountains. The place itself was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean making it the perfect retreat to escape, chat, relax and base ourselves for a few walks and a little R&R. Thank you Brenda!

    Julian2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

A private ground floor apartment set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. A perfect country escape to recharge those batteries. The property looks directly onto the sugar loaf mountain from the sitting room window. The property enjoys its own private landscaped garden. Ideally situated for access to a number of popular mountain bikes routes. The property also enjoys door step access to numerous scenic walks for both the seasoned walkers or those who enjoy more gentle strolls in the countryside.
The space has an open plan, kitchen, sitting room and dining room. It is heated by a electric fuelled wood burner effect fire and central hearing making it a cosy, comfortable and romantic place to enjoy rural wales. It has a double bed and a bathroom with a shower. From the back door you can walk out onto a patio and large landscaped private garden so you can sit and enjoy the beauty of your idyllic surroundings and in the evening listen out for the song of the nightingale or the hoot of the owl. There is one pub which serves food and real ales in a 20 minute walking distance. There is also another pub the Dragon's head in Llangenny which is only a five minute drive away which we often frequent - a warm welcome is always guaranteed. The space is nestled in the mountains so is very rural although you can pick up mobile phone signal and 4G and it is easily accessible by car. There is also free WIFI. There are loads of walks right from the front door so you can park up for the stay and take in the surroundings leaving you refreshed to return home. There is another apartment above the property but the two spaces are entirely separate. If you would like to come friends, if available, you can rent both properties which would then accommodate 4 people in total.
We hope that you will love the peace and tranquillity that the countryside offers, except when we are herding the sheep! ;)

Thank you, Lizzie, for giving us the chance to relax in your cottage - it was perfect for us!

  • Lovely stay in gorgeous little spot near crickhowell , highly recommend

    David2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzie’s place in the welsh countryside is a delightful peaceful retreat within a stones throw of some of the best attractions in the Brecon Beacons including the big peaks and the four falls trail (worth a trip!!). Very close to crickhowell in which The Bear was a wonderful pub with excellent food (Make sure you try the lamb rump- it was to die for!). Very secluded but excellent instructions will make sure you get to the property even in the dark. Very warm, cosy property with everything you might need to cook for yourself. Only slight downside is it is a downstairs flat, so it can be a bit noisy from the upstairs air bnb habitants even just walking around. Having said that it is in an incredibly peaceful location so other noise isn’t an issue.

    Georgina2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This house was one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed at. The house was lovey and set in the most amazing location, just what we wanted for our relaxing new year, we had a lovely walk just outside the door step which was a bonus! The directions to get to the house were clear and easy to follow. Elizabeth was very helpful and kind when we had a problem. Can’t wait to come back for another relaxing holiday.

Come and stay in my lovely, spacious, private guest room; and fabulous views. It's just a two minute walk to the local 13th century village inn, which serves great food every day. For walkers, the Offa's Dyke path is at the bottom of my garden. Dogs are very welcome here; light breakfast included; cooked breakfast available on request (£8pp)
Your room has lovely views over the garden and beyond to Skirrid Mountain. Sleep in an original Victorian brass bedstead with luxurious Egyptian cotton linens. The downstairs sitting room, with sofas and an enormous TV, is reserved just for you. If you choose a cooked breakfast, you can have it served in your room or in my kitchen looking out over the fields. Well behaved dogs are allowed in the the room... but please... not on the furniture or bed, or in the bath! Scrummy homemade Welsh cakes on arrival; come and say hello.
Don't think the countryside isn't for you, there's loads to do here! We have great walks from our door, including Offa's Dyke, plus fabulous local churches and castles to visit if they're your thing. For foodies, there are renowned - and Michelin starred - eateries, notably The Walnut Tree Inn (Shaun Hill) and The Hardwick (Stephen Terry). • We had a lovely time at Diana's barn. Fresh flowers and toiletries were a nice touch. The barn is very large for two people, and best suited to a romantic get away for a couple as it is very open. The fire is fantastic and quickly made it a very warm space! Very quiet and peaceful area. Had a great meal at the Raglan arms, and close for hiking in the Beacons.

A pair of private, romantic shepherds huts with incredible walks right from the door with a good local pub close by. Hand-crafted by Graham from local hillside timber, Spring Farm’s authentic shepherds’ huts, winners of a county award, are set in a hawthorn-fringed meadow, which becomes a sea of bluebells in late spring. With a stunning panoramic view down the whole length of the Bryn Awr valley to the Brecon Beacons on the horizon – one of the loveliest vistas in all Wales. Click on our profile
Hut one’s cosy living room has picture windows on both sides and pastel-shaded paneled walls, while its blissfully soft double bed has generous storage space beneath. A table and two comfy armchairs complete the furnishings and in one corner there’s a traditional wood stove (all logs and kindling provided) to keep you warm as toast in winter. The adjoining second hut’s two rooms comprise a fully-fitted kitchen complete with stove, oven and fridge and a separate bathroom with shower cubicle (ample hot water), wash basin and loo, both rooms being decorated in charming pastel colours. • Had weekend stay and wished we had booked more time there, amazing place and definitely return 5 stars all-round!

  • My wife and I had a lovely weekend away, couldn’t recommend it enough!

    Max2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • As soon as we arrived we had a lovely warm welcome (with freshly baked bread). The views are stunning and the huts are perfect for a break for two. The log fire heats up the hut nice and quick. Can’t wait to go back.

    Tom2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Exceeded all of our expectations in every way! The location was so remote and the huts were a real break from daily life with no plug sockets or signal!! Just what we needed to re-charge :) we stayed for 3 nights and loved being able to relax under the starry sky and watch everyones NYE fireworks over the hills at mid-night. The space was super clean and had so many lovely and thoughtful touches. Graham was a great help and we completed 2 of the hiking routes that he recommended to us. We'd love to stay again the future!

    Nicole2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastically stylish and memorable space. Super cosy and well equipped. Loved the closeness to nature and the silence of the mountains. Beautiful walks on the doorstep. Graham was a great host and even filled up the bird feeders outside the hut so I got to enjoy the company of woodpeckers and goldfinches all week. Perfect for a week immersed in nature. Highly recommended.

    Justine2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Graham and Pip’s Shepherds hut is cosy, has all the amenities and is located in a beautiful location perfect for walks and exploring. Thoughtful touches made the experience even more enjoyable and the log fire in the hut is amazing! I would definitely recommend for those looking for peaceful weekends away where you can relax and enjoy some star gazing and hiking in the beautiful Brecons.

    Sophie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely outstanding! My girlfriend and I had the most amazing weekend stopping in the Shepherd's Hut. The setting is incredible. Waking up to those views from within the comfort as warmth of the hut was perfect. Graham and Pip were wonderful hosts. There to offer help and made our stay that little more perfect with touches like the freshly baked bread. Would 100% stay again and recommend to anyone.

The 'Cwtch', is delightfully situated at the foot of the Blorenge. Conveniently placed on the edge of Llanfoist village it borders the Brecon National park. The cabin is located in the garden of the Coach House sharing the same parking area. The Cwtch has a spacious veranda which leads to the living space with kitchen and sitting area. From there, there is a bedroom and bathroom with a bed loft accessed by a secured ladder. The bed loft has a stair gate for the safety of smaller guests.
Included in the facilities offered by the Cwtch (pronounced coo - (as in cook) ch (as in church) , for those staying for longer periods or with small children, there is an attached utility room with washing machine and dryer, also large Belfast sink for washing dirty boots, fishing tackle, or kit. There is a TV/DVD player and access to our library of nearly a hundred DVD's, as well as free view satellite TV.
Llanfoist village lies on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National park and Blaenavon World heritage site. Follow the stream that runs through the garden up the Blorenge past the Monmouth to Brecon canal, or down to the river Usk, all within 5 minutes walk of the cabin. Abergavenny, famous for its food festival, is only 20 minutes walk. Or step outside and watch the Velothon come past your door, the Welsh national cycling event. All of these stunning landscapes offer a range of attractions from walking to hangliding, pony trekking and canoeing in the majestic Wye Valley. If you like to eat out, we recommend the Spice Lounge in the village or the Angel, Foxhunter bar in the Abergavenny. There are also Thai, Chinese, Bengali and Gurka restaurants or takeaways in the town. Waitrose is 10 minutes walk, and Aldi or Tesco is a short drive.
  • This is a lovely cozy cabin right next to the Blorenge and an easy walk to town. Hassle free and everything you need.

    Abby2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to explore Walsh countryside, very good location. Great family walks just around the Llanfoist town, but also not far from highest peaks of South Wales. Only 30 min drive to Pen y Fan. There are lots of local pubs in Llanfoist and the big Waitrose for those ones who would like home cooked meals. Peter’s kitchen is very well equipped and has got absolutely everything you need. Good touch including basic things like tea, coffee, sugar, salt, olive oil and few herbs. Really enjoyable stay, nice and stylish cabin, much bigger than I expected. Thank you Peter!

  • My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay in the Cwtch. We were looking for a cosy play to stay during our weekend in Llanfoist and this was just perfect. Right at the foot of the Blorenge mountain means it is the ideal location for anyone looking to go on some scenic walks and hikes and it was also a short walk away from local shops and restaurants in Abergavenny. Peter’s place is perfectly clean and has everything we needed, including a book with local tips and recommendations. We loved the spice lounge!

  • We would definately recommend this as a perfect place to get away from the busyness of life. We went to the Potting Shed for 3 nights with our small Spaniel and hibernated from the world. There was no signal on phones in the accomodation so no phone distractions. While we were there the weather was quite stormy but the Potting Shed was lovely and bright and warm inside and felt very cosy in the evenings. When we ventured out for a walk there was lots of fields surrounding for the dog to run around in. The kitchen was well equipped so we had everything needed to stay in and cook meals, although there was a very nice looking pub about 30second walk away. Thoroughly recommend. Thank you Brenda! • This has become our favourite retreat spot now, we absolutely loved our stay here and wished we could’ve stayed longer. The Potting Shed is stylish and cosy. The kitchen had all the stuff we’d need to cook for ourselves, but there’s also a lovely pub at the end of the lane that serve great food and beers & wine. We can’t wait to be back!

    Johanna2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing beautiful space...in an amazing beautiful place. Such attention to detail with beautiful little luxurious touches...including the delicious Welsh cakes...such a treat! • I don't know where to begin - The Old Dairy was more than we could have hoped for for our relaxing New Years getaway. The views were breathtaking (even in low cloud) - throw in the hot tub and the ability to stargaze and the whole experience was tremendous. The inside of the cottage did not disappoint either. We were surprised to find underfloor heating and the log burner fire made for a really cosy evening. The bed was incredibly comfy (some of the best sleep I've had in a while as a primary school teacher so was very much appreciated). Also managed to make use of the luxurious bath - would definitely recommend. The Old Dairy is somewhere we would recommend to any prospective bookers and we hope to return ourselves. We got engaged on the first night (to my surprise) and the setting could not have been more perfect. Pam and Steve have rennovated the property with a keen eye for detail and love. Many thanks for having us.

    Samantha2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. Where do you start with this place? Everything is just perfect Set in stunning scenery with the most amazing views, the property is decorated so stylishly! The interior is incredible and great for relaxing infront of the fire or watching some tv curled up on the sofa, the kitchen is modern and has everything you need to cook a great meal. The front room has a great log burner to keep you warm and it’s perfect to cuddle up on the sofa infront of. Upstairs the bedroom is spacious and has the comfiest best (so much so my wife wants us to replace ours with the same mattress!) The bathroom is spacious and modern and with a great power shower you can’t go wrong. The bath looked incredible and generously sized but we never tried it. Outside the hot tub is worth going for alone! Even in December we sat in it and admired the views of the English hills across the border and watched the sheep, life doesn’t get much better then that! Checking in was a breeze and it’s a short(ish) walk to the local pub. Top tip, stick to the road, we tried the path that google suggested and it meant a lot more effort especially as it was wet mud and over a big hill!! Worth noting the local pub does take card :) We can’t wait to come back and stay !

    Peter2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning place to stay for couples, for us we wanted a weekend together without outside interruption. It was perfect! Lots of walks available and a really friendly pub with good food 30 mins walk. Pam & Steve are friendly helpfull and are easily available should you need them.

    Mark2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wow wow wow. This cottage is absolutely amazing. It’s so beautiful inside and in such a wonderful location. The hot tub is also an amazing addition. We were sat in there at midnight star gazing, it doesn’t get much better than that! Pam was also so helpful in the lead up. We will definitely be back and I would recommend anyone looking for a beautiful little place to get away to to go here. We were here for our first wedding anniversary and it was simply amazing!!!

    Harriet2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The old dairy is beautiful and Pam & Steve were wonderful hosts. The cottage was warm and cosy, perfect for nights in after long days in the country. The cottage has everything you could need with the added bonus of a hot tub. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely have another stay here.

    Laura2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazingly restored space in a gorgeous setting. Loads of homely touches and everything you need to enjoy your stay. Fantastic undisturbed views of the local scenery. Make sure you visit a supermarket before your arrival.

    Marianne2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful place to stay in absolutely stunning countryside. The Old Dairy has been beautifully renovated and is such a lovely, warm, cosy space for 2. The view, hot tub and wood-burning stove all add to the ambience & experience. Pam was a great host - responded quickly to all questions, gave us very clear instructions and overall really lovely. Great local places to eat, walk & visit, so makes for a good location as a base. We spent a very relaxing 3 days here - a great break from work & London!

    Belinda2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend the old dairy. Very high spec, all mod cons and roomy for two people. Great outside space with spectacular views especially from the hot tub. A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. I will definitely be back!

Stable Court is the former coach house. Access to this private apartment is by a covered stairway which leads into a spacious sitting and dining area with a high vaulted ceiling and original features. There is a large bedroom with three single beds, a double bedroom with en-suite toilet. 2 well behaved dogs are able to stay at a small charge, before booking please contact us regarding this. Outside there is a communal garden to enjoy with outdoor eating area and 200 acres of estate to explore.
Stable Court, as its name suggests, sits in the old stable yard to the west of the big house. With its climbing roses, worn red sandstone walls and gentle planting, the recently landscaped yard has the feeling of an old quad. For eating out, there's a picnic table in the front garden or a long table in the archway under the clock tower which is perfect if the weather is not so good. The self-contained apartment is accessed via a covered stairway which leads into a large sitting and dining room, a light and airy space with period features and a high-beamed ceiling. Off this room is a generous bedroom with three single beds, perfect for the younger members of a family to share. A small separate kitchen and bathroom are also located on this floor. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with its own toilet. The big house is a grand but kindly old place, lived in by the same family for over 200 years. you will undoubtedly stumble across one of the youngsters who lives there zipping up the drive on their bike with a Jack Russell in hot pursuit. The 1,000 acre estate with the new generation at the helm is in a period of transition, with a new emphasis on the setting up of and supporting of gentle sustainable projects on site. It’s a family affair with all the Bosanquet generations, old and young, playing part in making it come together.
The estate is within easy reach of the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, and Black Mountains and there are castles galore on the doorstep.
  • A really lovely place to stay - a number of really great walks suggested by Sam and very special to eat fresh produce from the farm shop.

    Claire2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were searching for a place to stay in Monmouthshire for a short family break, and as soon as I saw stable court with its characterful decor and expansive grounds as part of the old lands estate, I knew we’d found the right place. The house itself is clean, plenty big enough for 5, and full of charm. Especially appreciated was the lovely outside seating area. But what really made it extra special was the setting. The cottage is within the grounds of a large country estate and you can enjoy free roam of the whole place. It’s well located on the edge of the Forest of Dean with lovely walking and tons of castles to visit. But to be honest, it’s a bit of a wrench to leave the grounds of the estate. There’s a letterboxing trail (kind of like a treasure hunt), two ponds and a boating lake. A free guided nature walk including pond dipping for newts was a real highlight on our last day. Totally recommend this as a great place to stay for relaxing and soaking up the beautiful surroundings. In comparison with other places I looked at it’s great value for money. Enjoy!

    Caroline2019-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely welcoming place to stay. Lots occupy children and adults alike. Striking surroundings well worth a visit

    Matthew2018-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Stable Court is a lovely place to stay dor a family! Great living, 2 bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen all the equipment you nees. Wonderfull surrounding, so much to explore on Old-Lands.

    Michiel & Colinda2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place in a beautiful setting. Clare and Sam run Old lands with great care and consideration - and helped us on every front - on the day of our daughters graduation found us a dog sitter so we could enjoy the whole day out. We very much enjoyed the shop which is stocked every morning with fresh produce from the estates own walled garden. Sam’s nature walks around the estate are not to be missed to discover a world of minute creatures. He has been returning cultivated land to wild flower meadows, providing new habitats for wild life, creating a model natural environment. Our grown up family all loved it, though it would be exceptionally nice for young children. We rarely ventured further afield, we were so happy, eating outside, cooling off on a warm evening with a row on the lake. I don’t think any holiday could have suited us better. Roger

    Roger2018-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Old Lands was absolutely incredible. It is a very quiet, relaxing place to sit back, relax and recuperate after many days of driving on our vacation. The entire flat at Stable Court was decorated in historical, yet lovely fashion. The beds were super comfortable and the amenities available were too many to describe. Sam and Clare are just wonderful hosts. Thank you again!

Just 10 minutes by car from Abergavenny but a peaceful country retreat. Simple, modern log cabin with open plan sitting/kitchen/dining with double sofa bed & a double bedroom and bathroom. Away from it all: 50 metres from the farmhouse, away from the road and screened by trees. There are board games, books, toys etc. Garden furniture for sitting out. Farm to wander over. Animals to see. Good places to eat out. Walking in the hills.
The cabin is in the back garden screened by trees from the house. It looks out over fields and gardens. There is one bedroom with a double bed and a sofa that turns into a good size double in the main living space. The kitchen has a fridge, kettle, toaster, small oven/grill, two ring induction hob (new in response to guest feedback). Lots of bowls, pans, plates, cups etc. Please ask if you need anything else. We provide a few cooking essentials like salt and pepper, mixed herbs and sugar. In the bedroom is a full length mirror, hair dryer, iron, lots of hooks for hanging clothes up and some shelves. The bathroom has shower, toilet and basin and a heated towel rail. We provide towels. A travel cot and a high chair are available. The accommodation may suit a couple, a couple with one or two children, or two couples. Wi-Fi is available in the conservatory in the farmhouse or it can be accessed from outside when its warmer. Mobile phone signals are erratic--some people get much better reception than others. The thick pine wood walls offer excellent insulation. Electric heating and electric blanket are available if needed so the cabin can be used all year.
The farm is set in a valley just 10 minutes out of Abergavenny but a world away from the town. We are near the Brecon Beacons National Park and surrounded by farm land where traditional dairy, beef and sheep farms are interspersed with holdings for horses and some chicken farms. There are lots of possibilities for walking, cycling, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities locally in the Brecon Beacons and the surrounding countryside. There's a cycle/walking tarmac path up an old railway line leading from Llanffoist to Bryn Mawr (with a gap). It's easy to walk to Govilon up this track then walk back along the canal towpath to Llanffoist. There’s a short walk to the top of the Little Skirrid directly from the farm. Abergavenny is a lively country town. The main market is on Tuesdays. It's worth visiting the Market Hall just to see the huge decorations which go up each year for the Food Festival. Smaller markets happen over the week. There are quite a few independent shops, loads of places to have coffee, some good places to eat. There's a small, modern two screen cinema (for an old fashioned cinema feel try the Savoy in Monmouth or the Working Men's Club in Blaenavon). The attractive 300+ seat Borough Theatre is housed upstairs from the Market Hall.
  • The cabin is great! And the location is really good! Lots of great places to visit and the landscape is fantastic

  • The cabin had everything you need to relax and unwind for a few days, lovely country walks right on the doorstep with Abergavenny only a few minutes drive away. Tessa is a fantastic host and was very welcoming-we would definitely stay again!

  • A basic but cosy cabin with everything you need. The board games and books kept us entertained in the evening, and the kitchen was well equipped. The location was perfect for the areas we were visiting. I would definitely recommend staying here.

  • We stayed at the cabin for a weekend with our two daughters ages 17months and 3weeks. The cabin was toddler friendly, there is a swing and slide in the garden and Tessa kindly provided a travel cot, there are also some toys and books that were an unexpected bonus! There was plenty of space for us all and everything we needed to have a relaxing time. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and we had a wonderful time. Definitely recommend for families with young children who want a quiet getaway that is toddler friendly.

    Jerilyn2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place for our family to spend the weekend! The cabin is open and bright, and we all slept well. We made good use of the little kitchen - it worked brilliantly for our simple supper. The farm is beautiful and our children (all of us, really) were in love with everything. Our hosts very kindly invited us to participate in a few of the more fun farm chores, and we said yes to every opportunity! One afternoon we drove the few minutes into charming Abergavenny, and the children wanted nothing to do with it because they wanted to get back to the farm. A wonderful place to stay! Highly recommended!

Guest reviews:- "Beautiful house in an even more beautiful location." "Ty'r Olchon could not have been better. Beautiful location for peace and quiet, and lovely walks along the river, through the valleys, fields, and forests. The house was perfect - cosy, warm, stylish and the home cinema was an extra treat for down time." "This place is a hidden gem, wow what a find. I took my family of 10 adults here for my partners surprise 40th Birthday and we had the most amazing time. Both the house and the cottage are spacious, clean and well finished. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and the table sat 10 adults very comfortably." "Stunning location, beautiful house with excellent BBQ area for summer, and huge log burner for winter! : guest review December 2017 "Beautiful very well equipped home We had an amazing time. Mesmerising views . Entertainment lounge with log burner cinema system and games . Superb kitchen with an Aga . Pleasure for those who enjoy cooking." : guest review October 2017 "Had the most fabulous week here in October. Incredibly cosy getaway. All creature comforts are present in the house. Awesome views across the valley! Hygge time!" "House and location are quite simply stunning. Can't fault this place. The local walks are magnificent" " "Amazing house and location for a family weekend away. The house was comfortable and warm and had everything we needed to cook with. The log burner kept us really toasty in the evenings whilst watching films on the home cinema set up. We walked from the house on the public footpath with dog and 4 week old baby in a sling across the fields into Longtown, stopped at the pub for a drink, and the shop for supplies and walked back via the road. We also headed over to the other side of the valley to explore the landscape, less than 10 minute drive and then on foot again up the mountain. Very relaxed. The views are amazing." "A beautiful house tucked away in a peaceful and scenic situation. No noise or light pollution made this a very relaxing location. The wood burner was very welcome on a cold January weekend, as was the Aga, meaning the house was always very pleasantly warm and cosy."
This is a relatively undiscovered part of the UK with beautiful countryside, but with easy access to excellent restaurants and pubs, and culture and retail therapy in the book town of Hay-on-Wye and Abergavenny. Longtown village with its well-provisioned shop, post office and pub is five minutes drive away. Within 25 minutes drive are the Walnut Tree & Hardwick restaurants offering high quality cuisine in relaxed settings - book in advance! The magical Llanthony Abbey is in the next valley. The historic Marches towns of Ludlow, Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury and Hereford are within easy travelling distance. SOME OF THE LOCAL SITES OF INTEREST: Llanveynoe Church - 15 minute walk along the lane or through the fields and along the public footpath. Longtown Castle - in the middle of the village. Llanthony Priory & Cwmyoy Church - both in the next valley to the west of the cottage - a must when you are so near. St. Margaret's Church, 15 minute drive - very beautiful medieval church with a wonderful carved Rood Screen. Abbey Dore Church and Monastery - 20 minute drive. Red Daren/Offa's Dyke - directly opposite the house :- Drive for 10 minutes along the Mountain Road (the one you were told not to take just before you first arrived), over the river and up and over the cattle grid into the National Park - until you reach the parking place directly opposite the house. Within a few hundred yards before, and only a few yards after the parking place, there are two public footpaths leading up the mountain. The first is easier and will take you towards Llanthony Priory, the second is steeper and will take you in the direction of Hay Bluff. Cat's Back/Black Hill : quickest way to the top of the ridge and great views - 10 minute drive to the car park at the bottom of the Hill. Abergavenny - nearest market town (with a Waitrose, Aldi, Morrison, and Tesco), 25 minute drive on the route to Cardiff (which is only an hour away, traffic permitting, if you would like to spend some time in a surprisingly great little city). Hay on Wye - the book town - retail therapy, good food and pubs. The drive, from Ty'r Olchon to Hay-on Wye, taking the shortest route on the narrow road which climbs up to the highest point, gives stunning views and takes about 25 minutes. FOOD AND PROVISIONS Longtown Village:- Shop & Post Office; The Crown Inn Ewyas Harold Village, 15 minutes drive away has a well stocked village shop and post office, fish and chip shop, butcher selling very local fresh meat and good frozen fish, pub - The Dog; pub with restaurant - The Temple Bar. • Micheal is a amazing host and thank you for everything. You have a amazing place simply stunning views will be coming back during summer time

  • Exceptional AirBnB. Michael is a great host, who communicates clearly and often, giving clear and easy to follow instructions. Ty'r Olchon is an absolutely amazing house, with everything you need for a perfect weekend!

    Beth2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place is an absolute gem set in stunning countryside scenery. We visited when storm Jorge was raging, which scuppered our walking plans a bit, but it didn't matter because it meant that we got to spend more time in Michael's fantastic house. There were 9 of us altogether (without cars!) but we managed to explore Llanthony Priory, The Walnut Inn and The Bridge Inn and meet the most friendly local farmer over one weekend - all with the fantastic service of the Celtic Minibus team! I couldn't recommend them more if you're thinking of visiting without a car. Michael was an excellent communicator from the start, answering all of our questions promptly and helping us with a shopping delivery. The house itself is the most relaxing and cosy space with all the amenities you'd ever need. Thank you Michael!

  • The cottage and annexe were as expected, exactly as described and did not disappoint. Despite no cleaning fee the house was immaculately clean. We had everything we needed to cook, except if you plan to arrive on a Sunday you will need a few essentials. The grounds and views at Michaels place are spectacular. We arrived amidst Storm Dennis, so it was very noisy in the cottage, thankfully the beds were the most comfortable I have ever stayed in, so we did sleep eventually. We managed a walk to the waterfall from the cottage, but note that the farm nearby had removed some signs, so you will need an OS map. Overall a great stay, I would return, in fact it would be perfect for Christmas. I would recommend the cottage and Michael as a host, informative and easy to deal with.

    Sandra2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place is, in a word, fantastic. Perfect for a weekend getaway with friends. The only slight drawback is that the range takes a little getting used to. The pictures do not do the place justice, it is a real gem and I'd stay again in a heartbeat.

    Stephen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Really stylish place, great location, withstood Storm Ciara! All my guests commentated how lovely the house was. Recommend this place to large groups of people and would stay again.

    Katie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home in a stunning location. Highly recommended. Thank-you to Michael for all your handy tips that you left us. We enjoyed our little walk to the waterfall and our lunch in the local pub.

    Marie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place was my first Airbnb and he was very patient in helping me set up my initial account, along with explaining detailed directions and an overview of the house rules (which are by no means arduous or restrictive). The house is set in a stunning location with Offas Dyke and the Black Mountains just outside the front door. We were a party of 5 walkers, however the house would easily absorb a party of 10 without feeling overcrowded. Our trip was at the end of January with snow on the higher hills (spectacular views from the house) yet the house never felt anything but warm and inviting. There are many little touches that make your stay very much home from home and I felt that Michael was there at the end of the phone or email should ever I need him...….. We had a great stay and could not recommend the house, location and Michael enough. BA Somerset

Keith and his family had decorated the house for my stay which was a lovely touch and they'd also left me some Christmas goodies to enjoy... I would happily return for another visit!

Gaer Cottage is one of two cottages converted from a stone barn built in the 18th century. This peaceful retreat is set in 45 acres of ancient meadow and woodland in the foothills of the Black Mountains within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Gaer cottage is surrounded by woodland and nature. It is lovely to be able to walk out of your front door on to private peaceful paths and to explore the countryside. Enjoy birdsong during the day and starry skies at night.
Gaer cottage is in a secluded valley in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is on National Cycle Route 42 and close to the Cwm Coed-y-Cerrig Nature Reserve. Good local pubs include the Crown at Pantygelli and excellent restaurants can be found in Abergavenny - which also hosts an annual food festival.
  • The Gaer was a lovely cottage and very conveniently location. The cottage was clean, warm and very well set up. Belinda was a lovely host and extremely helpful! Would highly recommend

  • Photos does not do this place justice! Beautiful little cottage, which felt bigger in person than on the photos. Plenty of room for us to get around the table in the kitchen. Fresh cake and eggs on arrival. Lots of gorgeous scenery to explore, really recommend climbing to the top of the mountain. Fantastic views at the top! Our dog loved it and even had a spare field for him to roam around in. Five stars. Hopefully be returning soon!

The location is perfect for exploring the area, & relaxing there with the chickens. A peaceful, quiet spot, comfortable house & spotlessly clean. I love the area so will definitely be going back to Gaer Cottage again next time.

  • The photos do not do the cottage justice, it was a really homely space to stay in. The woodlands and gardens are fantastic, and there is so much to do close by to do.

    Michelle2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Gaer Cottage, we received 6 free range chicken eggs and a freshly baked cake upon arrival! There are some amazing walks in all directions, including one that begins right from the back of the grounds and another just across the road. There is a small shop & 2 dog friendly pubs with food & drink within a 5 minute drive or 30/40 minute walk. Gaer is also dog friendly & Belinda was an amazing host, she made us feel all feel very welcome. We will definitely be visiting again!

  • Graham and Pips little hideaway is lush for a weekend away. Listening to the rain hit the see through roof (worth bringing eye masks for the morning sun). Graham made sure we had plenty of wood to keep the fire going, had it pre lit for when we arrived and was very helpful in telling us the route for sugar loaf mountain (not for the faint hearted but great). He called before we arrived to make sure everything was ok and gave some hints for dinner and confirmed directions before we lost signal. I would suggest to save local maps for offline (search "ok maps" on Google maps and choose what are you'd like to save...include Abergavenny and Crickhowell). Would happily stay here again.

  • A lovely weekend spent on the farm. Despite the very wet and windy weather, we had a lovely cosy weekend using the log burner stove and looking at the stars. We used to carriage as a base to explore the local area and had a very relaxing weekend. Looking forward to booking again soon.

An off grid rural glamping retreat in a hand built oak frame cabin on the slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain and spectacular views. Enjoy the cosy loft bed and glow of the wood burning stove, wood supplied. There is a posh compost loo and the bathroom is a converted horse box, plenty of hot water and bath with a view. Once there you will enjoy complete peace (no WiFi or signal here) amongst wildlife, a spring fed pond and barbecue area. Steep access down the field; you must be relatively fit.
Bluebell Cabin is on the slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain in the Black Mountain region of Abergavenny. It is glamping heaven in a peaceful wild field of your own. The owners live at the top of the field. There is gas burner cooking, a barbecue, solar lighting and lots of hot water. The loft bed is a cosy space. An ideal place for walking, cycling, mountain biking, wild swimming or unwinding and getting away from it all within designated dark sky area status.
Forest Coalpit is a tiny hamlet in the heart of the spectacular Black Mountains. We are ten minutes from Llanthony Abbey, a great evening cycle with a welcome beer at the end. The Black Mountain Cycle Centre is ten minutes away with some great mountain biking. We have sheep on site and our cat (Jones) and dog (Spud) are both likely to pay you a visit.
  • Our stay was absolutely perfect. The cabin is beautiful and exactly what we needed to take a breath from our busy life. The little touches and added comforts made the stay even better. Truly the best weekend away we have ever had. The love and attention to the cabin pours out and stays with you. And that bath...!

    Melissa2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely and very relaxing spot. The cabin is beautiful and there are lots of lovely little touches everywhere like cosy rugs and blankets and a light that's perfect for reading on the sofa near the fire. I stayed for 2 nights alone and it was a perfect secluded but safe spot that is close to lots of lovely walks. Anne is a very welcoming host and ensured I had everything I needed. Would definitely recommend.

    Ruth2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • A really beautiful and thoughtfully put together place in stunning scenery. Anne is very helpful with tips for things to do and spud is also very friendly!

  • Bluebell Cabin is a wonderful little wooden cabin in a magical valley setting. With beautiful mountain and woodland walks nearby, lots of wildlife and very friendly and helpful hosts in Anne and Dean. Would love to come back again and definitely highly recommend to any couple looking for a quiet and rustic getaway in stunning location.

  • The Blue Bell Cabin was an amazingly place to stay. Totally enchanting and extremely relaxing. Anne was a very helpful and welcoming host. Highly recommended!!

    Edward2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Bluebell Cabin for a blissful birthday weekend, it's a beautiful and cosy space for tranquil slow living. Everything you need to relax and enjoy is right here ... If it isn't, you probably don't need it (especially WiFi!). Particularly enjoyed toasting marshmallows in the fire, a brainwave extra touch! Will definitely be back...

    Justin2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic weekend. The hosts were very relaxed and the accommodation was fully equipped. We cooked outside on the BBQ and enjoyed baths looking out at the view. It is so peaceful and you can go for numerous incredible hikes straight from the door. Sugarloaf is highly recommended.

    Charlotte2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights in this beautiful cabin but could have stayed for weeks! It's really spacious and comfortable with so many thoughtful touches - sofa, blankets, firewood, books and games. The solar lighting was just as good as electrical lighting and the hot water supply was reliable - the bath in the horsebox is a genius idea and so relaxing! Definitely climb up Sugarloaf mountain if you can, it's an easy but stunning walk from the cabin. We didn't bring a car, but arranging taxis from Abergavenny was easy enough (around £12). Anne was kind enough to drive us to Crickhowell at the end of our stay as well. Finally, if you like dogs you can hang out with the lovely Spud, an added bonus :)

The views are spectacular and the walking and biking great. It is an eco barn, off the grid and powered by a wind turbine, solar panels and a back-up generator. Water is from a nearby spring (it tastes delicious).
The barn has direct access to the mountain behind so hiking and mountain biking is fantastic! Downstairs is all open plan, with a wood fired stove, kitchen, dining table and comfy sofas. The shower and WC are downstairs and there is an additional sink upstairs. Access to the bedrooms is up a stone staircase in the fresh air. We enjoy seeing the stars on our way to bed, but this might not suit everybody!
This barn is up a remote lane and steep drive. The view are spectacular up and down the valley and across to Table Mountain and Sugarloaf.
  • Amazing barn, in an amazing location. Had everything you wanted, the cosy fire whilst it snowed outside was perfect. 👌🏻

  • Amazing place to stay with views that cannot be beat. The house had everything needed and between Harriet and the care takers anything we needed was sorted out. We wanted a chilled quiet weekend and it was perfect for it. Welsh valleys at it best! We will certainly be back if!!!!

  • Absolutely stunning and a fantastic place to relax or set up base for great walks in the Brecons. Superb.

    Daniel2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful gem nestled between two Welsh national parks. Peaceful with birdsong, cosy warm indoors with a great fire, and bonus sauna to boot! We loved staying here. It was a bit difficult to find (for future reference: search for 'Draen'), but the effort was worth it!

  • It was a lovely stay. The setting is stunning, beautiful views no noice or light pollution. The house is simplistic but in a good way it has a rustic feel to it. It’s great if you have a dog because the back garden is all fenced in so you know they are secure. There are so many walks to do right out from the doorstep. Great place for walking holidays. We did struggle to get up the drive. It had been raining allot so the cattle grid up to the drive was slippery it took quite a few attempts to get over it then got stuck again going up the hill my partner had to try push the car. It does say in the book in the house to give it a good run up and it does help. But it’s just something to be aware of. It made me a little anxious to go back out in the car again because it is so steep and tricky to get up the hill. But it’s all worth it once your up. Thank you for hosting us and also thank you for changing the gas for the boiler. We had a relaxing stay.

    Becca2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place, everything we needed for two nights. Walks straight from the property into the hills, an amazing walk to the local village with a great pub and river for a dip! Loved watching the bats fly around at night. We hope to be back!

    Lily2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The most amazing location, if you're looking for peace, tranquility and walks straight from the house this is the place!

Chill out in our love-nest made for two (by Simon and Rhiannon) in the beautiful Black Mountains! The cute wooden house has ALL mod cons, complete with small, perfectly formed kitchen, a wood burning stove, and a comfy double bed with spectacular pillow views of the Black Hill. In winter it’s all snuggling round the log burner with breath-taking views and wonderful walks, and in summer it’s outside living in a flower-rich meadow. Plus you will enjoy complete seclusion and peace and quiet!
The Little House is at the top of a wild flower meadow with fabulous views of the mountains and the Black Hill. Sorry, no near neighbours, no road noise - just a few lambs bleating and the birds singing! And after dark the night-sky is spectacular - we are right on the edge of the Brecon Beacons Night Sky Reserve. So bring your telescope! .
Our farm is "off the beaten track" in a spectacularly beautiful landscape, on the northern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. We are also near to the festival towns of Hay-on-Wye and Abergavenny. When you stay at the Little House you will be able to find out about our way of life here in the foothills of the mountains. You can learn to make different kinds of bread and even on occasions bake it in my wood-fired oven. You can also join me at our local pub where I regularly perform traditional folk music, and you can take part in our local festivals, from the wassailing nights in January to the summer shows with their sheep dog trials and vintage tractor rallies! Plus of course, morris dancing at the summer solstice! And not another tourist in sight! I speak four languages, English, Welsh, French and German, plus some Spanish. So this would be a fantastic opportunity for guests from abroad to experience a real slice of "olde England", entirely off the tourist map. Although the Little House in the Mountains is still fairly new , I have been hosting guests for 4 years in our B&B. You can view our many guest-reviews on TripAdvisor - they are all 5*! Look for Little Trewern.
  • The Tiny House and it’s stunning surroundings make for a great weekend away. You have everything you need, including “the hobbit” a wood burning stove that kicks out welcome heat. Rhiannon has thought about everything and has used the space really well.

  • Great place for a remote weekend away in the countrysids with beautiful surroundings.

    Joseph2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A truly beautiful place to stay in an ideal setting for some stunning walks and some very quiet time! Would recommend to absolutely anyone who enjoys a cup of tea while looking at the most beautiful mountains in the country!

    Sarah2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay - a lovely and remote cabin with bathroom and hot shower inside the cabin. Black mountains are a great place to visit, and when the weather is clear the views from this hut are incredible!

    Niki2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful space has been put together and cared for with love and attention to detail. The location and views are very special, and Rhiannon was a wonderful host.

    Carolyn2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Secluded but not remote, this is a fantastic place to stay for our weekend away

    Neal2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing stay! Rhiannon and her late husband have thought of everything to make this cabin comfortable and usable with everything you would need. We felt such privilege at being able to stay in the best spot on their land and with privacy and stunning views - absolutely amazing! Rhiannon made us feel welcomed immediately upon arrival and was helpful and friendly throughout our stay; even to the point of giving us a jump start for our car! I would love to go back again and highly recommend this cosy cabin.

    Lissa2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The photos do not do this place justice. The cabin is cosy and thoughtfully designed. The views and the surrounding areas are very beautiful and tranquil. Rhiannon was the perfect host and I definitely recommend this place.

Little Loft is a bright, sunny, well equipped private studio apartment with a small terrace, garden and stunning mountain views: It has a lovely elevated setting with a babbling brook. There's a great village shop and 3 pubs within walking distance.
Little Loft is a studio apartment in the apex of an oak framed barn, built in 2007. It has its own access up a garden stone staircase. A rocky stream flows down a gully through the gardens and separates Little Loft from the main house, thus providing privacy. An oak framed bridge provides another access. The loft has its own private elevated garden and a small, decked terrace built over the roof of a small house—bats. This terrace leads into Little Loft via a lobby, which opens on to a simply furnished space with a bamboo floor. It has a very comfortable king-sized bed. There's a well-equipped kitchenette (with steamer, microwave, toaster, kettle, and Foreman grill, multi cooking pot e.g. slow cooker, fryer, roaster, etc.). NB No hob or oven! There is separate modern shower room, with restricted height by the wash hand basin - the shower is a large rectangle and of course is full height. There is broadband internet, although it is on occasion slow. Mobile phone signals are patchy, improving, but sometimes not available at all. Little Loft is most suitable for two people, but could accommodate an extra adult or two children. There is a private garden with outside seating above Little Loft
Little Loft is set in a stunning landscape on the English side of the Welsh Border. The view from the Loft window flows down to the Monnow River at the bottom of the valley before sweeping up to the mountain ridge that bisects the landscape. This ridge is part of the Offa's Dyke Long Distance Footpath and its summit separates the pastoral hedge lined meadows of England from the more mysterious rolling wildness of the Black Mountains in Wales. It is a magical borderland, dotted with ruined castles, abbeys, and ancient churches, a spot for lovers of nature, for doers and explorers, and for dreamers and thinkers. There are many great options for dining out, and within walking distance there are three pubs, two of which have restaurants. There's no best time to visit; spring, summer and early autumn are all festival times in the market towns. May brings the Hay on Wye literary festival; August Brecon Jazz; and September the Abergavenny Food Festival. Musical events happen regularly and there are small independent cinemas in Hay on Wye and Abergavenny and a multiplex in Hereford. Abergavenny and Hereford have lively theatres.
  • Awesome place to stay. Daughter and I had 3 days of chilling time. There is a double sofa bed in as well as the double bedwith plenty of spare bedding should you require it . Snug and warm. Loved the home made bread to welcome us with . Highly recommended- we visit the Brecon waterfalls several times a year and they are only 50 minutes away

    Frank2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Was really nice to get sent information about the local area before our stay and the freshly baked bread when we arrived was a lovely extra! Gorgeous area, really clean studio which has everything you need in it and within walking distance of a local shop and pubs. Thanks! Ps- the local pubs don't take card so take cash with you

    Danielle2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really great hospitality, great base to visit the Brecon Beacons and to get out in the countryside! The loft is separate form the main house so there is lots of privacy. We went to the Crown in the evening and it was a great local pub with plenty of good food options.

    Cameron2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely time. Kate was lovely and made us feel very welcome. The extra touches were really appreciated. Little Loft is set in a beautiful place close to local pubs and places to explore. A very warm, cosy and stylish little getaway. We loved every minute. Thank you.

    Julie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and cozy, great views and well located for exploring the Brecon Beacons and surrounding towns. Kate was very welcoming and even presented us with a loaf of freshly baked bread. Would recommend.

    Jason2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Super cosy accommodation in a beautiful setting, with many amenities provided and some very thoughtful touches. The Hayloft had books and information about the local area which was very helpful. Kate was an excellent host and communicated information and directions ahead of our visit.

    Darren2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Charming little place in a great quiet spot. Would highly recommend for a quiet weekend away

    Luke2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Loft is very quaint and perfectly formed. With everything you would need for a perfectly comfortable stay. It was warm and cozy and very clean. The location is amazing with outstanding views even on the most gloomiest of days. The directions that were offered but Kate were accurate and we had no problems in finding it and there was parking on site. It was central to where we wanted to be and easily accessible. I have no doubt there are lots of walk on the doorstep which i would like to explore, when i go back. There was outside space also which is an added bonus, although we didn’t have the opportunity to use it (weather and time of the year). I would thoroughly recommend this accommodation.

Staying in the Redwood is just like being high up in a tree house, - its floor height is elevated into the middle of two wonderful mature oak trees. It has the true wooden cabin feel, and it is particularly easy to hide away in for quite some time!
There is a 360 degree view of the Golden Valley around you from the Redwood, with great big windows all round the space. While you sit cosy on the sofa in front of the woodburner, you can see out for miles into the countryside in front of you, whilst being beautifully sheltered inside your ‘cabin on wheels’. The Redwood was handmade on the farm, and the wood milled in the field just next to you! I made the effort to pay a lot attention to detail. When you are lying in your big comfy kingsize bed in the mezzanine bedroom, you will be nearly 15 feet off the ground, with a window out to the tree branches, making you feel like you are suspended in the tree canopy while you sleep. Chanstone is a working farm and provides the backdrop of a genuine rural experience. The Redwood is a real one-off structure, you wont be disappointed. The Redwood sleeps five people. The mezzanine has a king-size bed. There is an delightful little single bedroom underneath the mezzanine and also a double sofa bed by the wood burning stove. All of the beds have memory foam mattresses a French linen bedding. You have hot water on demand, a heated towel rail and a nice big power-shower, hair dryer and toiletries. The kitchen is very well equipped with cooking kit. There is a gas cooker and oven, fridge and small freezer. There are also some cooking basics such as a variety of herbs and spices, stock cubes, olive oil, sauces etc. There is also tea, good coffee and milk provided. Outside you have a lovely elevated deck area with a seating for 6 and a BBQ (please bring charcoal with you). This space works well for someone on their own looking for some quiet time, couples wanting a bit of a wooden cabin-like escape, or families to have a rural holiday with a twist.
  • Stunningly put together, clever little hut that feels magical. Just the right balance of simplicity and comfort. Thank you!

  • This place is absolutely stunning. It is genuinely 5 star (not just Airbnb 5 star). It is one of the most stylish Airbnbs we have ever stayed in, beautifully cited, and every detail and fixture is real quality. Every minute spent there was a pleasure.

  • All the other reviews say it better than i could simply put, if you want an escape from the pace and stress of modern life, this is the perfect place for you. Every aspect of the redwood is perfect for rest and relaxation and the scenery is beautiful. I would live here if o could, quite happily. Thanks.

  • A very special place. Cosy, relaxing, and comfortable. Lots of great little touches. We absolutely loved it and can't wait to come back. You can go on great walks right from the doorstep and then sit by the fire all evening. Fully-stocked kitchen, so no need to go out for food. Don't miss it.

  • Marjorie and Tom were great hosts. They were around for our arrival and checked in to see how we were doing a few times over the weekend. They made it clear that if there was anything we needed they would supply it however the bunkhouse was so well equipped, we didn't need anything extra from them. They provided us with maps of the surrounding areas with different ideas for walks and places to eat/ drink. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely go back again.

  • I can't comment on the glamping pod as we were upgraded (thank you!) to the railway carriage. The carriage was lovely. It included a shower and toilet with heaters which definitely helped during our cold and wet November night stay. The hot tub was spot on. We went for food in the local pub (which was about a 5 minute walk) and it served lovely pub grub. Would definitely recommend staying here to friends and family! Thanks for a great stay!
