I spent an enjoyable six days at Luci's house, which is in a wonderfully quiet and attractive neighbourhood, only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Morris library of Southern Illinois University where I was working. There were very good cooking facilities in the house and a marvellous supermarket and Whole Food Grocery store only 10 minutes walk in the other direction. So I was able to cook my evening meal, that is until Luci insisted on cooking me two lovely dinners herself before I left. (There are also restaurants within walking distance.) She could not have been more obliging and charming as a host!

A comfortable stay with a very friendly and helpful host.

This was our first time ever trying out Airbnb and I would recommend ANYONE to stay with Luci. We were nervous about doing it, but not only was Luci comforting, she even convinced us to try out Airbnb in our own home once we officially move to Carbondale in August. We stayed two nights and only left her house for about 5 hours in those two days just because Luci and her wonderful dog Hudson were great company and now our new friends as we will be moving up the street in August. Thank you so much Luci, for everything!!!

I stayed with Luci and Hudson when I returned to Carbondale after 4 years. Luci was very friendly and great to talk to! Hudson was also one of the friendliest dogs I have met. Great location if you need to be close to the SIU campus. Worked great for me as I did not have a car for my trip.

Our stay with Luci was great. She was unfortunately not home for us to meet her but her communication was great and she let me know ahead of time that she was out of town. She had a certified Airbnb host house/dog sitting for her and he was extremely nice and available if we needed him. The house is very close to campus, great location if you are wanting to truly experience Carbondale and SIU. It was also very clean! Hudson (her dog) was as cute as could be and graciously gave us love when we came back each time.

Luci was very welcoming. The house was clean and comfortable, and located on a quiet residential street near the SIU campus. Though she was not there, she was in constant contact and left clean sheets and directions. Good experience!

We booked last minute & Luci was immediately in contact with us, helping us sort everything out. The place was very sweet and comfortable in a quiet, residential neighborhood. We stayed at an econo lodge the night before and Luci's was a thousand times more comfortable. A safe, convenient and reasonable option.

Motahareh is a great host. They helped with finding location, and even though we had a quick chat, they seem very friendly. Close to downtown of carbondale. And would totally stay If I ever stay in carbondale.

My Mom and I planned a trip from Maryland to see the Total Eclipse at Southern Illinois University. We stayed at Colleen's Airbnb and it was such a pleasant surprise. Colleen was warm and friendly, making us feel right at home in her cozy, comfortable cottage. She even drove us, along with some of her other guests to the SIU Stadium for the Eclipse Event and dropped us by the gate to save the long walk in the heat. Colleen's home was clean, attractive, the neighborhood was quiet and our bed was a welcome oasis, especially after our 12 hour drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Carbondale, Il and the time we spent with Colleen and her sweet little dog,"Boo". We would most definitely stay here again.

Colleen was a wonderful host. She accommodated me last minute and with me having to arrive later than expected. She was very welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed. Would definitely stay there again!

I stayed at her house for one night. It was very quiet. She is a very nice and helpful host. She told me the information I want to know about the town, like restaurants, shopping areas, etc. I couldn't contact with my friends because my phone doesn't have any signal, she let me use her phone and wifi to contact my friends. Especially, she gave me several phone numbers for property managements after she heard that I will need to find a place to live (I will stay here for about one year). She also offered me tentative stays at her place until I find a place to live (although I didn't because I found a place). Overall, a great host!

Host was very helpful and was friendly. Had several conversations throughout my three day stay. Also very thorough in communicating. Home was very clean. Bed was firm and comfortable. Slept well. Location was very close to Amtrak station and SIU campus. I rented a car but probably would not have needed that to visit campus and get to train station. I would stay with the host again. Host had cats that were friendly.

Lisa was great. She was very nice and welcoming! We decided to stay in the night we stayed with her and watched a movie. There was never any awkwardness. I definitely recommend her if you need to stay in Carbondale!

Lisa was very welcoming and made me feel at home as soon as I arrived. She is friendly and very helpful. The bedroom is exactly as pictured, quaint with a beautiful antique bed and furniture. My only issue was that she has certain habits and expectations for the shared bathroom that are a little idiosyncratic and these "rules" are not communicated on her profile or in person. She needs to be more clear about her expectations from the beginning. She does not seem to be aware that her own way of doing things around her house may be different than for other people. All that being said, she is very friendly and it's a good place to stay if you're in the Carbondale area.

Although this house is conveniently located, it is not a great Airbnb choice at this time. Cleanliness and basic amenities like having bath linens available is the main issue. Patrick is very nice but this home is not ready for guests. There were also children who kept knocking on the door looking for their mother late at night. It was weird and in some ways made me feel unsafe.

Patrick was a great host, informative, and friendly! House was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for a good nights stay. The garden in the back is amazing and the fire pit was a great experience to wind down the night.

Good place to stay in Cdale

Good location in a very quiet neighborhood; we had space for 3 generations traveling together to spread out and be comfortable. (My son LOVED having his own lair upstairs, although he informed me that my terminology of "boy attic" does not have the same ring as "man cave" :D)

I went to Carbondale for the solar eclipse with my two friends and we ended up staying at Demetra's place. Demetra was incredibly helpful and a great resource for all things Carbondale and south Illinois. She knows the area very well and gave us good suggestions for what to explore around town. Her home is a four bedroom house, with plenty of space, which was something I was a little bit worried about and wasn't really expecting. While there were a few people staying at her place, it never seemed over crowded because she had the properly-sized place to host them in. The place itself was very clean and organized. She has two gorgeous and well-behaved--loved meeting them! The only issue we experienced we can think of was that on our first night the air wasn't working properly, but Demetra resolved what ended up being a minor problem quickly the next day. All in all, I had a great time. Demetra was a lovely host! She bought us bagels and cream cheese and even invited us to a solar eclipse party she was throwing. I would highly recommend Demetra as a host to other users of air bnb. Thanks!

This was the first time that my wife I used this service (Airbnb). Michael's place was both beautiful and inviting. This location far exceeded my family's expectations. Upon entering the home, I was pleasantly pleased with the home and its amenities. Both Michal and Allie were attentive and available for questions during my stay, but they were also genuinely interested in making our stay comfortable. We have stayed in five-star hotels before, and this eexperience gives a level of comfort to enjoy the people your with that no hotel can provide. Michael and Allie have definitely set the bar high for our first time using Airbnb. Thank you both again!!

Wow! If you're coming to the Carbondale area this place is a no-brainer. Michael had the house stocked with snacks and drinks for us and the place was very, very clean. Highly recommended!

The home is great with nice sized bedrooms, wonderful decorations, appliances, and modern media. Michael is a super host and provided snacks and drinks. The place is close to everything Carbondale has to offer and the Southern Illinois Wine Trail. My only knock was that the living room couch is very low and not suitable for older or less mobile guests. It does fit well with the decor.

Perfect location to downtown. Cute place with the largest collection of Le Creuset I've ever seen! Records, games and Tv's in every room, if that's yer thing!

Staying at Michael's was a breath of fresh air, I am a local and needed a place to stay during a fumigation at my house. I was delightfully surprised at the arrangements provided by Michael. I was a little nervous as this was a fresh listing and the pictures looked too good to be true. It lived up to what you see in the pictures and went beyond. Michael was a gracious and generous host, I hope I have to fumigate again in the future, this is the best AirBnB I have visited.

Our family spent the weekend in Carbondale to watch the solar eclipse on 8-21-2017. The house is super cute! Very clean with great decor. The fridge was fully stocked with drinks and there were plenty of snacks and breakfast foods. There was lots of everything we needed for our stay: towels, pillows, blankets, soap and shampoo. There were a number of board games there to play which was nice for our family. It was a great place to hang out during our down time. Perfect location to walk to restaurants and not too far from SIU. Michael was great at communicating with us before and during our trip. Will definitely stay again when we take our next trip to Carbondale.

Location was perfect for our weekend trip to Carbondale, walking distance to restaurants/bars, Amtrak station, and SIU campus. Unit was clean and as described, quiet and no issues with check-in or check-out. Would highly recommend if you're checking out the campus or going down to visit someone.

This was a great place. It is just the right size if you want a full apartment experience. The price was great, everything was clean/new and we had a splendid time. Not only is this place *super convenient* to the train station, but we could walk to a number of great places to eat. Moreover, the apartment had all the amenities of a full house! It was great -- will definitely visit again.

Abdus is a very communicative host and has set up a small, clean home and appointed it well. Everything within the home is described accurately on his listing. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone with mobility issues, but the host is straight forward about this fact as well. That being said, the front door to the building as well as the hallway door are left unlocked. We arrived to a homeless man sleeping in the foyer. We had to sleep over him to access the lockbox and in the morning he had used the bathroom on the tile floor. We left after one night because we felt unsafe and because the small place was difficult to navigate on a broken foot. Abdus is a good host, and if the security issues are addressed this place would be nice to stay in.

Wonderful one bedroom apartment for the price. Close enough to all of the trails that we were wanting to hike, great little college town. Would definitely recommend! Wifi was out when we arrived but we managed without it. Definitely planning to stay here again if we come back for more hiking!

The place is at a nice location. We had trouble with the internet connection but Abdus was very prompt in addressing it. Parking is not available exclusively for the residents but paid meter parking across the street is available. Nice quaint place in the heart of carbondale accessible to all good restaurants. Andus was a great host . He wad very pleasant and helpful. The apartment was very clean and newly renovated. It was cozy. The neighbors are very quiet. The kitchen comes with glasses and coffee mugs. No dishes or pots and pans. Which was fine for us as we just ate out. Also the bathroom has all the amenities needed but you must bring wash clothes as none are provided . The only thing we did not like about the apartment was that there was only 1 small a/c unit in the living room and the bedroom was hard to cool. We slept on the floor in the living room the first night due to the bedroom being too hot. I lost definitely would recommend Abdus as a host. Thank you so much.

This house is very nice and exactly as pictured in profile! The house was clean, the bed were comfortable, and it was very spacious - great for the 5 of us. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a few meals on our own too! The keyless entry via an app made it easy to come and go as we needed, without having to toss a key around - very handy! Kathy was quick to get back to me if I had questions leading up to our trip and checked in to make sure things were ok! I would definitely recommend this location if you are coming to stay in the Carbondale area with a number of people!

Our hosts D. and Jane scream southern Illinois hospitality! From the moment we arrived, they took care of us in every imaginable way. There was home made zucchini bread waiting for us, a refrigerator filled with a wide variety of cold beverages, and the accommodations were spectacular! It's clean, comfy, cool, and private. We were working to cover the total eclipse, and when our crew grew, our hosts stepped up to offer even more space, bathrooms, food and drink. They didn't have to do that, but we're so grateful they did! Our only regret is that we couldn't spend every minute of every day there. Next time no work, all play!

The Pool House was above and beyond my expectation! I read the reviews before booking my first AirB&B and thought the pool house sounded great! It was AMAZING! D. & Jane made me feel so welcome! I felt as though they were old friends! I only wish I could have talked with them more!! I can't wait to go back!!

Perfect place to relax and feel like your at home. Close to all amenities and easy to find. Kitchen has everything you will need to prepare a meal or heat things up. The back yard is very private and serine. Large private bedroom as well as upper loft sleeping accommodations.

The Pool House is the best Airbnb experience we've ever had. Carbondale, IL, has its charms, but Pool House is a destination unto itself. This is a place where the whole is very much more than the sum of its parts. Every last detail has been thought through: from the interior decor to the most basic wants and needs of travelers. Everywhere you turn, there's a furnishing, facility or other object that is fascinating on its own but also exactly what's needed. The Pool House experience includes a private structure with master bedroom, kitchen, full bathroom with shower (including laundry facilities) and an upstairs "nook" or "bird's nest" for work, reading or for children. Pool House opens onto a patio with the pool and fire pit, lounge chairs and further on extensive gardens of vegetables, flowers and native plants. The pool is unusual, being specially designed for swimmer comfort and safety. The deep end plunges to 11 feet, but there's also a shallows for young children. The grounds are secure, well kept and private. The entirety of Pool House except the upstairs nook is accessible. I could envision solo travelers, couples, or families having a great experience. The proprietors are an engaging couple and highly responsive to traveler needs and concerns. The lasting impression is having had more than you expected and being entirely pleased with it. We'll definitely be returning.

The Pool House was spectacular! I've stayed in loads of Airbnbs and this was the best. The home is amazing--incredibly well appointed, sticker with extras and perfect for our family of four. The pool is an absolute delight--we spent most of our time splashing around or hanging on the porch. The gardens were beautiful and the hosts were so gracious and generous. We plan on returning, for sure!!!

Every detail was considered in the design of this place. Our stay was very comfortable and we really didn't want to leave. This place is EXACTLY as described...nice living quarters in a pole barn. Take note, the living quarters are not separate from the rest of the garage but rather share the floor with the garage. For what it's worth, this is the cleanest garage I have ever seen. For those who have any sensitivity to garages (namely, typical garage smells, things kept in garages, and no windows), this might not be a good fit. However, for those who are not squeamish about sleeping in a garage, and especially for those who need it to be pitch black to sleep (even during the day), the pole barn is perfect. The living quarters themselves are clean, comfortable, and tidy. Richard the host is very nice; he was on the premises and attentive during my stay. I enjoyed talking with him.

Listing is accurate - this is a pole barn and is used as such. That said, it is the nicest pole barn I've ever seen and it's clean! Know that there may be a boat and other machinery so if you are sensitive to smells keep this in mind. It didn't bother me, my GF, or our dogs. Plenty of room to park if you are trailering a boat. The place is convenient to local lakes, wine trail, restaurants and shopping. Richard was helpful and friendly and made every effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

Our stay at Richard's Pole Barn was amazing. He has thought of everything for the guests convenience, and then some! Really enjoyed a few conversations with Richard. Oh and his collection of blues music figurines and his other neat things from his trips abroad that are neatly displayed in one corner of the barn, were a treat! My wife particularly loved the cute Toilet paper container that was so much in keeping with the character of the place. Also, the place was well equipped with all kitchen appliances, dishes, nice dinnette table. We would love to stay in Richard's place if there's another opportunity!

I had trouble locating the apartment because no apartment number was provided to me, only the building number labeled as the apartment number. I had to try the key in most of the building's apartments before I found mine. Upon check-in my wife and I discovered the apartment had not been cleaned since the prior guest's departure: * Dirty bed linens, pillows had head imprints * Bathtub and sink filthy * Toilet had not been flushed since last use * Dirty towels in bathroom * Dirty towels in kitchen, one of which was crumpled on the floor * Trash had not been taken out Needless to say, the listing's description and photos grossly misrepresented the situation we encountered. I reached out to report the issues and was directed to extra sets of clean towels and sheets. However no clean pillowcases were available so we were forced to spend both nights in a hotel instead.

We stayed with Aaliyah for the "Great Solar Eclipse". We were excited to see that Aaliyah kindly provided us with solar glasses and pamphlets regarding the event. Aaliyah communicated information ahead of time regarding other guests that were also staying with her so that we were not hit with any surprises. We found the room to be clean and comfortable. Aaliyah also left small tubes of toothpaste and mouthwash for our use. This came in handy since we forgot ours! We had a great time viewing the Eclipse and had a great experience with our room and stay with Aaliyah!
