Places to stay in Charlesworth
The Smithy is a delightful stone detached, single storey cottage with a turf and heather roof, hand carved oak doors and a woodburning stove. The cottage boasts amazing views over Swinshaw reservoir surrounded by the beautiful Peak District moorland.
Cooking facilities: microwave combination oven/grill only. 2 ring hob. Small fridge.
The Smithy is nestled above the lovely Victorian town of Glossop in the Peak District. There are lovely public parks and a swimming pool. Restaurants in the town and locally cater for all tastes. On the edge of the Longendale Trail, Chatsworth, Bakewell and Eyam.
  • The Smithy is a cute, comfortable and cosy cottage with oak doors, a log burner, a super comfy bed and lovely farmhouse furnishings. Perfect size for a couple for a weekend away! Picturesque walks opposite your door, good pubs and also on the outskirts of other places of interest within the peaks. Julie and her daughter were both lovely hosts, we got homemade bread (still warm) delivered to our door on our first morning which was to die for! The kitchen is compact yet workable, we managed a fry up both mornings! Netflix is an amazing addition, home from home especially after a nice long walk! I wouldn't hesitate recommending anyone to stay here. It is a beautiful little find. Waking up to green hilly field views and sheep out of your window is a real treat! Thank you for a lovely weekend!

  • The Smithy is exactly as incredible as it looks. It has everything you need for a trip to the Peaks and is a beautiful place to come back to after a cold day in the hills. The property was immaculate and the log burner in the lounge and underfloor heating in the bathroom were an absolute godsend. I can’t recommend Julie as a host enough, plenty of local tips and very helpful in all aspects.

  • Excellent stay - so beautiful with lovely views, cosy fire, lots of amenities, and Julie added those extra touches to make it extra special! Highly recommend visiting this special place!

  • Great place and great host. Will be back again !!!

    Kerry2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Julie’s Smithy cottage met all my expectations based on the description, photos and previous reviews. The views and setting were lovely, the cottage was warm when we arrived and Julie was there to meet us, communicating well prior to our arrival and allowing when we asked, to let us check in a little early. The log burning fire and character features are a lovely touch to the cottage and the door is amazing. Facilities like tea and coffee, milk and sugar were present and Julie brought us a fresh loaf of bread when we arrived which we soon started eating! The facilities worked without issue and Julie responded straight away in the evening when I asked if we could get a little more kindling. We had a lovely relaxing stay and would stay here or at another of Julie’s cottages without hesitation.

    Jessica2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was amazing! Julie is a great host and had so many thoughtful touches- she even made us cakes and baked us a loaf of bread!! The cottage is so cosy and we felt right at home. Highly recommend!

  • The cottage is very cosy and very close to the peaks. We felt very at home and Julie was always available for any questions.

    Glossop, Derbyshire, United Kingdom

Quaint and tastefully renovated 2 bedroom apartment, full of history and charm. It is one of the oldest buildings in New Mills and I'm lead to believe from my history lessons in school that this stoney building housed the cotton spinners from the mills back in the late 1700s! Just a stones throw from the Torrs Millennium Walk and the Sett Valley Trail. All amenities such as Sainsburys, Boots, The Crispy Cod Chippy, Local Pubs and Transport Links are all within a short walking distance.
The property is ideal for walkers and bikers. With easy access to the Sett Valley and Goyt Valley trails. There are a variety of leaflets and maps of the suggested trails available in the apartment. Advice is also available should you fancy visiting Lyme Park, Kinder Scout or Lantern Pike. 2 bedroom apartment, private entrance into a small hall, opening up to a large living room with a 2 and a 3 seater sofa. Smart TV and DVD player and a small selection of DVDs are provided. Fully fitted kitchen and dining room table that seats 6 persons. Fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and all other appliances expected in a generic kitchen are all available for use. Bathroom, Shower and bath, towels, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are there for your use if you so require. Master bedroom, double bed with tv, wardrobe and drawers. Second bedroom, single bed and drawers. We have also provided a fold away collapsible single bed (with extra bedding) that can be positioned in the living room for a fourth guest. Exterior, a raised decking area, with bench and chiminea for guests use. There is a secure lockable space for a couple of bikes should you need it. Parking, a large public car park is next to the apartment, you may also if feeling brave, park outside through the tunnel, however I take no responsibility, should you damage your vehicle in the process.
  • Nice place in a great area - flat was really cosy and had everything we needed for a good, lots of leaflets with info for local walks and things to do. Hosts were wonderful, check in was as easy as could be. Would stay again!

  • Great flat to stay in for at most 4 people, it's a great location with many local shops nearby. It is also really close driving distance to some of the main areas of Peak District!

    Chloe2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jason and Kim are excellent hosts. They provided excellent check in instructions. The house is lovely, and felt very homely. It's clean and well equipped and very quiet. There's parking in the courtyard outside (quite narrow but doable) or a public car park 50 yards away. New Mills is round the corner, and Derbyshire and the Peak District close by. Highly recommend the house to anyone in the area!

Iron & ironing table, hair dryer, Aircon, TV & WiFi. D/bed, chairs and table and sofa bed. Patio garden fully planted and outdoor table, chairs and umbrella. The Loft is essentially a self contained Studio flat with an external garden space and parking. It measure 15sq/m. Not an enormous space but well appointed with the guests comfort and convenience a priority
Tintwistle is located on the Woodhead Pass, in The Longdendale Valley. This is a primary transport route across the Penine Hills, connecting Manchester to Sheffield and Barnsly. The Village is in the Peak District National Park, one of the oldest national parks in the UK. The scenery is stunning at any time of year, it is a joy for walkers and ramblers or cyclists and motor cyclists. The village is small with less than 1500 people, it has a Pub, a General Store, a Cafe / Bakery, a Cricket team, a Football team and most of the usual attributes of a tiny village. There is a Fly Fishery on Arnfield Reservoir, Clay Pigeon Shooting at Boars Clough Farm, Golf and Tennis at Glossop. The nearest rail station is Hadfield, just over a mile away. It gives you good connection to the main city life in Manchester, Stockport and Glossop - our largest nearby town. Manchester Airport is a 45 minute taxi journey away, giving you connection to the world.
  • Wonderful little bolt hole that I have found. Well proportioned space. Everything you could possibly need for your stay. I was comfortable, warm & cosy. Excellent communication, Tony replied immediately and always on hand if I needed anything. I'll be back, thank you so much Tony. Excellent airbnb. Highly recommended.

    Becky2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tony’s place completely exceeded our expectations! If you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway, with beautiful scenic walks right on your doorstep- then this little gem is definitely for you. It’s a small space, but tony has thought of absolutely everything that you could possibly need. Most of the touristic towns mentioned in blogs like Bakewell/ Dovesdale are in the south of the Peak District (and Buxton still 40 mins away by car)- so I was a little concerned we might be a bit ‘out of it’ - but Glossop is just on your doorstep which has lots of shops and restaurants if you need them... and for a peaceful weekend away- just being surrounded by the countryside in Tintwistle was perfect for us. I’d highly recommend the Longdendale Trail (although the bike hire shop in Glossop didn’t seem to be open anymore- so you'll have to complete by foot if you haven’t brought one)! Excellent value for money, and a really cozy stay!

    Vicky2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great little Place and have already booked to return.

    Tom2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Tony is a good host and his place is great. It's private, clean and has everything you need. Recomended

    Chris2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place was incredibly tidy and Tony gave us a few personal touches which we were really startled and happy with, for example, Prosecco in the fridge (as it was Valentine’s Day), he was in constant communication from the minute it was booked to help us decide where to go over the weekend and was very keen to help. Wonderful host and world class service.

    Jake2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what a fabulous place in great location definitely worth a visit and Tony is a great host. Our second visit and we will.be back

    Fiona2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem a fantastic flat with everything you need. Tony is a fabulous host and nothing is too much trouble. Location is amazing you are so close to lots of interesting places to visit. The view from the window is picture postcard. Thanks again Tony

    Fiona2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very good three nights at the Hayloft on a short walking holiday in the Peaks in January. Tony was prompt, clear and courteous in his communication prior to my arrival. The flat itself was clean and equipped as described in the listing. I was particularly impressed with the heating and the shower, both of which I enjoyed after coming in cold from walking. The outside steps to access the flat are steep but there is a good light to illuminate them. At the price you would be hard-pressed to find a better self-catering option for the northern part of the Peak District. Definitely recommended.

Set in a lovely semi-rural location......
Walks from the doorstep straight into the Peak District and only 23 minutes by train to Manchester Cory Centre. Bed and breakfast at Robin Cottage built in the 18th Centuary. Located in a semi-rural setting surrounded by fields, sheep and horses. The Trans Pennine Trail,(Sustrans route 68 Pennine cycleway) runs by the side of the cottage. The Peak district and its National Parks are located on the doorstep. Near by Broadbottom only 10 minutes walk away hosts a few take aways, a pub that serves food Thursday to Sunday, train station and garden centre with a great cafe and local produce on sale. Charlesworth hosts a few local grocery shops, a pub that serves food daily, and a horse riding centre. There is easy access to trails and footpaths around the local countryside many of which lead to the Peak district National Park. Manchester city centre is only a 23 minute train journey away. The city is great for shopping, restaurants, museums, theatre and clubs and pubs. Combine a country holiday, walking, mountain biking, horse riding or just relaxing and enjoying the culture and the dazzling night life of Manchester. Offers a basic room with a double bed, clean linen, towels and free wifi connection. Decorated to a high spec and set in the attic. The attic does not have a door but the room occupies the entire 3rd floor space, with a winding staircase leading up to it. Please do not book if this may cause a problem for you. Shared family bathroom with shower and bath and separate toilet room. A simple 'help yourself' breakfast of tea or coffee and cereal or toast is provided. If you require anything in addition to this then you are welcome to bring your own. I am normally quite a sociable person and love to chat when I am free, I would be more than happy to share my knowledge of the area (I am a member of the local Mountain Rescue Team) and help in any way I can if I have the time. Manchester city centre is only a 23 minute train journey away. Tickets cost around £5 return. The closest main line train station is Broadbottom which is 10/15 minutes walk away and a bus stop is located opposite my house. Manchester Airport is a 30 minute drive away from my home. It is also possible to get from Manchester Airport to Broadbottom by train, changing trains at Manchester Piccadilly. However, I may be able to arrange to collect from or take to the airport, for a charge of £25 (taxi costs £40) Non smokers only please. Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me and ask.
Near by Broadbottom hosts a few take aways, a pub that serves food Thursday to Sunday, a train station and garden centre with a great cafe. • Joanne has created such a wonderful cottage, the entire experience was fantastic. Communication was great and all the relevant information was provided. Was able to easily locate the cottage and as i was driving was glad to have driveway parking. The kitchen was spotless with everything you could possibly need. The whole house was decorated very well with nice touches all over. Really nice artistic paintings on the walls (I took pictures of for my mum as shes an artist and she agrees with me!). Bathroom shower was great with a combi boiler providing instant hot water. Heating too was great and included a wood burner in the front room. Bedrooms were again very well decorated and contained stylish and matching furniture. Bed was very comfortable and had a much needed nights sleep away from the kids ;) Outside there is a large park and countryside within walking distance, as well as rivers and a lake. The park has an old Victorian pond too- and if you know what your looking for also has some wild garlic leaves! There is a takeaway shop in the village, about 5 minutes walk, as well as an off licence and an Indian restaurant. Really couldn't see any negatives at-all and highly recommended - Joanne is a credit to Airbnb - Many thanks!

A wonderful and relaxing rural retreat perfect for couples or small families. The Apartment is set within the beautiful extensive gardens of a large country mansion. Your visit will be completely private for you to use as you wish. The accommodation is nestled amongst the foothills of kinder scout and the surrounding moors. Excellent views and completely surrounded by all the wildlife the British countryside has to offer. A very clean and well equipped space in the Peak District National Park.
The apartment can sleep up to 4 people, the bedroom has one double bed and the living room has a double sofa bed perfect for children. All the water that enters the cottage is from a fresh spring that serves several other properties this is treated and is absolutely fine to drink but if you prefer chlorine treated water you may wish to bring bottled water for drinking. This can also sometimes have an affect on the water pressure. A travel cot and high chair can be provided upon request. The Garden flat is surrounded by stunning walks and is a very short drive to Glossop, train station, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and Glossop Golf course. Trains regularly go back and forth to Manchester City centre (tacking 20/30mins) for those who fancy a city shop with a peaceful retreat to return to! • Leeanne was a great host, really easy to communicate with, very warm and friendly. The apartment was spotless and had many useful/ thoughtful touches- snacks, cleaning products, local tips. We were there over Storm Dennis and the house remind warm and cosy- and the washer dryer came in very handy! Would recommend!

  • This is a lovely cottage right outside Glossop, very easy to get to by taxi for around £6-8 or with a relaxed walk in 35 minutes. Leeanne is a great host with whom the communication was easy and quick. She even suggested us visiting a nice pub called The Beehive that turned out to be a very cool place that served both English and Thai cuisine. The cottage was perfect for us as a couple, perhaps it would be a little crowded for 4 people as the second bed, which is a sofa bed is in the living room and there’s only one en-suite bathroom in the bedroom. Leanne’s place offered us a great escape to nature and a very relaxing stay. Thank you for having us!

Designed to look like a woodland lodge, the caravan is warm and cosy, and perfect for a good weekend getaway.

  • Everything is really well prepared in advance, the hosts are warm and attentive, nothing is lacking. Highly recommended for relaxation and airing in the English countryside.

  • We had a lovely stay at Bryony’s place. We arrived around half 7 to a warm, lit caravan which we appreciated greatly after such a long drive. The caravan was clean, warm and well decorated, the beds were comfy and the shower was lovely and hot (things I worry about when staying in a new place!) We had been provided with loads of extras (bread, eggs, jams, milk, orange juice, teas, coffees, herbs and spices - the list goes on!) and this made the place feel super homely. We would definitely stay here again!

    Emma2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing place to stay !! Extremely cozy and comfortable! Anything you could think of needed in the kitchen was just there , pretty much anything you needed was supplied . Fresh eggs , milk , bread and orange juice was provided and the fire was on when we got in so it was nice and warm. Extremely lovely Inside and out and it’s in a great location

    Megan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful space which the hosts have clearly made a thoughtful effort to personalise and customise. We stayed during a storm and it was such a cosy little place to come back to following our adventures on the moors and peaks.

Spare room plus converted loft in traditional Peak District gritstone terrace house, close to 2 railway stations and Manchester airport (12 miles) and good links to Manchester and Buxton. New Mills is a small traditional peak town with independent village shops, built above a beautiful gorge (the Torrs), and overlooked by the Peak District hills. A great location for the outdoors (walking, climbing, cycling, etc). I know the area very well and am happy to recommend routes, activities, etc.
My house, built around 1880, is set over 3 floors, plus a comfortable loft where the double sofa-bed can be used if there are more than 2 people or if you have children. There is a shared sitting room and kitchen, and I have recently fitted a very nice bathroom. There is plenty of on-street parking close by, and if you have bikes I am happy for them to be kept in the kitchen.
    - Within sight of Kinder Scout, the highest hill in the Peak District and a super area for walking. - 2 superb bars that serve local real ales - the Shrub Club, in an old mill in the gorge, and the Beer Shed, a micro pub on the village High Street. - Close to plenty of good shops and places to eat, and 300m from a supermarket. - Several National Trust properties within easy reach (Lyme Park, Dunham Massey, Nether Alderley, and Hare Hill, and 30 mins drive to Chatsworth House). - Very good hiking over the hills to Whaley Bridge and on Kinder Scout, and easier walks along the canal to Marple and along the river Goyt. - Lots of very good mountain biking - my favourites include Chinley Churn, the trails towards Mellor, and those around Whaley Bridge. There are also a number of gravel cycle tracks on converted railway lines for those who aren't keen on hills! - My favourite climbing areas include the esoteric New Mills Torrs (2 mins walk), the beautiful Castle Naze (10 mins drive), and the famous edges of Stanage and Froggat are within easy reach (30-40 mins drive). - Favourite nights out include the Exchange Theatre in Manchester and the Opera House in Buxton. - And some fascinating geology and history!

We are In the edge of peak district , 3 miles from Lyme park 16 miles from Tatton Park 30 mile from Chatsworth house 12 mile from centre Manchester , bus stop just in front of the main house , 5 minute to Strines train station Our own private car park for at least 20 cars in the back and front of property so you don't have to worry if you come by more than one car Please note that the chalet is not suitable for person who use whealchair
Chalet/Cabin in Cheshire - perfect for nature and animal lovers! An ensuite chalet overlooking the Goyt valley in Cheshire. This cabin has all the comforts. It can accommodate 4 guests - suitable for groups or families. The chalet has one double bedroom with an en suite shower room and a large living room, which can accommodate a king-size inflatable bed . We have a Barbie's cot as show on the pictures so all the little ones will enjoy their comfort as well There's WiFi. We just installed a 45" smart TV with free view in the living room and 32" TV with DVD player in the bedroom , It is really well insulated and warmer than my house in winter! The chalet does not have a kitchen but there is a fridge-freezer, micro wave ,toaster and kettle. Guests are very welcome to use my kitchen. There is a utility room next to the chalet with a washing machine and dryer. The chalet also has a DAB radio , so you know that even if the weather is against you, there's still plenty to do! The Chalet is located in the rolling hills of Cheshire, which is lush green in the summer and has plenty of snow in the winter. The chalet is set on 11 acres of land, which includes my house. I originally built the chalet for my son to live in. He has since left home and just graduated from Oxford University. I didn't want it to sit empty, so I have made it available to Airbnb members. There are 11 acres of land, full of a range of rare, pure breed poultry, some already extinct, some not even on the internet. They include peacocks and peahens. If you are nature and animal lovers, this is the place for you! Join me for a glass of red wine seeing the peacock dancing to attract his lady friends and on occasion watch the daring deer wandering round the garden. http://cheshirechik.co.uk/ Walking in Cheshire One of the best ways to see this part of the world is on foot. We are located on the border of the famous Goyt Valley and the Roman Lakes. Although the Lakes might not have the strongest link to the Romans, it is still amazing to visit one of the most important sites of the Industrial Revolution in this part of the world. We are close to transport links for the rest of Derbyshire and the Peak District. We have plenty of National Trust parks, and our closest, Lyme Park is perhaps most famous for being the site of the 1990's television adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Located close to Marple village, which provided the title for Agatha Christie's famous series, Strines also has excellent transport links to the center of Manchester, Stockport . With regular trains and three nearby railway stations, it is just as easy to use our Chalet as a jumping point for a quiet city break as it is a country one! So whether you'd like to enjoy the tranquillity of the surrounding countryside or be close enough to enjoy everything Manchester has to offer, Strines is the place for you. With the summer fast approaching we have just purchased a new BBQ which guests are more than welcome to use. We are also happy to accommodate anyone who would be interested in using the cabin and gardens as the site for photo shoots; all are welcome! Please note, due to the winter months coming up, all guests that need to go out by foot please be advised to use our steps just in the front of the main house when walking up or down from the chalet rather than the driveway itself as it can become rather slippy! Cheers and have a wonderful day!
  • I really enjoyed my stay at the chalet, Minh was excellent with hospitality, fast responses, helpful information, outstanding chalet with everything you need in it, great location and beautiful scenery, definitely be returning in the summer. 10/10

  • Minh's cabin is perfectly located for a trip to the Peak District, where wonderful walks and amazing views are a short drive arrive. The nearby Marple Bridge is a very pretty little village with lots of lovely eating places and quaint charm. The cabin itself is incredibly cute and cosy, with wonderful views over Minh's beautiful garden, and very peaceful. Minh is a very friendly and helpful host, and has two of the friendliest Alsatians we've ever had the pleasure to meet. All in all, we spent a lovely five days here!

  • very cute place, check in super smooth, thoughtful touches like tea, tv with dvds and speakers with aux cable

    Matvi2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a superb little space which acts as a great base for exploring. We had 2 nights here and had everything we needed. Bed was comfy and shower was lovely! Hosts were available by phone at all times and very easy to communicate with. Getting to town was a short walk (10 mins). There is a Sainsbury's Local and lots of cafes and pubs - Beer Shed is definitely worth a visit! We also caught the train from New Mills Central to Hope and then walked to Castleton (hourly buses also available). The closest pub is The Packhorse which does good pub grub. The walk is short but there are no pavements so a torch and/or high vis clothing are a must if making the journey after dark (it's a 30 road but lots of people were going faster!) Overall really happy with the stay and would definitely recommend!

    Sophie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

Woolpack Studio was once the Woolshop in the centre of the village and has been sensitively renovated into a one bedroom apartment. The interior design is simple modern and paired back, graced with original art throughout. The Studio is located in the heart of the village within a minutes reach of 3 gastro pubs, the award winning Italian restaurants 'Collesso" and the'Pack Horse' with their gastronomic delights and hugely popular tasting menu. With direct walking into the National Park.
Woolpack Studio is a perfect cozy base for a couple or a single traveller to enjoy the wild charms of the Peak National Park or simply as a base to tour the area and Manchester (40mins drive away). The studio is very reasonably priced, and is located in the heart of the historic village of Hayfield. The building dates back to 1840 and has a round end and as such is an iconic landmark in the villiage. Open plan kitchen /dining /living area Separate small bedroom with full size double bed and a small ensuite shower / toilet. Well behaved non malting dogs are welcome. The studio is a stone's throw to the many pubs , cafes and resturants in the village. You will not ever need to get in your car ! You have direct access into the Peak National Park from the door on foot. There is no outdoor space with the studio, however just a few yard from our door is a secluded spot with benches overlooking a waterfall on the banks of the river Sett, where you can sit and take in the nourishing air and tranquility of the river . Also there is a communal garden opposite the village hall with a waterfall view seating area at the far end . Whats not to love !😊
Hayfield is an amazing place . We have lived here for 11 years and it has a buzzing eclectic community . Hayfield also has a thriving community of creatives + artists with two galleries and excellent pubs, resturants and two cafes. Also walk down the Set Valley trail towards New Mills and stumble upon the amazing Set Valley Cafe (get there early at weekends 10 am opening ). The Spa town of Buxton is a 20 min drive and Bakewell /Chatsworth House 45 mins . The great thing about Hayfield is that you can walk directly onto the Kinder Estate and the highest peaks of the National park directly from the village . During Summer times you can sit outside the Royal Hotel or Pack Horse and bask in the evening sun with your favourite tipple and food and watch the sun go down into the hills . Magical! Food is available in The Pack Horse , The Royal Hotel , The George,The Sportsman Inn , Collosso (Italian Bistro /restaurant) There are two Cafes with a two new ones opening soon. A short walk down the Sett Valley Trail will bring you The Set Valley Cafe which is highly recommended with plenty of outdoor seating. All the pubs in Hayfield are Dog friendly. Access into the High Peak National Park and Kinder Reservoir is straight up Kinder Rd out of the Village.
  • David’s place is very stylish and cosy. It had everything we needed, special mention to the cafetières and two teapots! The village of Hayfield is very beautiful and lively. The local shop has good fresh bread and eggs. Although the place is advertised as a studio, it actually has a separate bedroom which is nice. Some previous reviews mentioned problems with the shower, but we actually thought it was completely fine once at the right setting (set the power to high, temperature 7-8).

    Metta2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication. Lovely cosy studio in an amazing location. Just as described. Comfortable with all the amenities we needed. Very warm. Was always parking outside. Amazing walks direct from the studio to Kinder Scout and Snake Pass. Would thoroughly recommend the Sportsman pub - 10 mins walk - but well worth it for dog friendly, people friendly and gorgeous food/beer! Would love to return.

    Kate2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what an amazing place in such a nice village, what this studio offers is a gateway to some amazing walks right on your doorstep. There is everything you will ever need in the studio from a comfortable bed to a walk-in wet room. The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking equipment and the living room very comfortable. We can't wait to stay again.

    Kevin2020-02-24T00:00:00Z

A stones throw from both the Torrs Riverside Park and the Sett Valley trail, this is a cosy end of terrace house that has been recently renovated. An ideal base for walkers, bikers and climbers who are wanting to explore the stunning local area of the Peak District.
The house has been renovated to a high standard to make a practical and modern home whilst still trying to retain it's old charm. The living room is a good size and offers a very large, and very comfortable sofa to relax on. Also available for use is the big freeview tv, along with xbox for dvds and netflix. There is a large kitchen complete with the usual appliances and dining table. The bedroom has solid wood furniture with a kingsize bed with memory foam mattress. Both bed-side tables are empty for your use as is the wardrobe. The bathroom is fully tiled with waterfall taps and an amazing 'rain shower head' that is great for a soak.
  • Big spacious house, spotlessly clean and in a truly beautiful area. Check in extremely easy. The house has everything you could need and more, very well equipped large kitchen, very comfy living room and bedroom. Even extras like a washing machine, lovely garden to sit in. Nature walks and supermarket nearby.

  • Gareth's place is lovely. Great house with lovely interior and fantastic kitchen. Very comfortable bed! Extremely clean when we arrived. Loads of useful things like washing machine, big freezer, fridge. The location is great. If you're looking for a base to explore New Mills and the surrounding area it doesn't get much better than this. Very close to train station and 5 minutes to countryside walks. All the nice touches left for the start of the stay were so kind!

  • This is a great house in a good central position in New Mills - I would not hesitate to book again. Gareth left a good selection of breakfast goods for us and we enjoyed the style of the house. The sofa is super comfortable, TV excellent and a good bed and shower. It also felt like the kitchen and bathroom had recently been installed as both were in really great condition. We enjoyed our stay here and it met our needs perfectly. Thanks Gareth.

The house is in a terrace and is 200 years old, mill cottage. It's not overlooked and is afforded with wonderful views of the countryside. The property is newly decorated and is 5 minutes walk from the station. 20 minutes by train from Manchester and is the gateway to the wonderful walks of the Peak District.
The house is clean and cosy. It isn't overlooked and has fabulous views of the cricket club and the wooded valley. There are wonderful walks on the doorstep, litterally one minute walk away. There is a fabulous pub with its own Italian restaurant and micro brewery. The station is close by and bus services to local towns.
This a picturesque village. Easily accessible by car and train. There are many delightful towns and villages close by such as Glossop and Buxton and Chapel en le frith.
  • Peter's a lovely and really interesting guy, and it was a pleasure to meet him. His place is really cosy and warm and very close to the station, in a quiet safe village. I would very much recommend him.

    Peter2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Peter was understanding and patient when I checked in later than usual. Very friendly and easy check in experience. Free to come and go as you please. Bedroom had no lock in the door that I saw which was a bit unusual. May make more paranoid people uncomfortable but I didn't really mind too much. Nothing bad about the stay. All clean quiet and comfortable.

During travel restrictions we will not accept bookings from holidaymakers but welcome keyworkers who may be looking to isolate. We cannot predict when the travel restrictions may be lifted but our policy currently extends to June 1. Lantern View House is the perfect base for walkers and cyclists wanting to explore the Peak District. The well-equipped house was fully modernised in 2015 to provide a home-from-home just 4 miles from Kinder Scout. Located on the Sett Valley Trail, Lantern View House has four bedrooms (2 bedrooms with kingsize beds and ensuite bath/ shower room, 2 bedrooms with pairs of singles (extra-long beds 6'6"; one pair can be linked to a superking ). The large, comfortable sitting room has three sofas and a TV with NetFlix subscription. The large kitchen-diner has everything you need to enjoy refueling and relaxing at the end of the day, with a small balcony with great views to Lantern Pike. There is a large basement suitable for storing bikes and other equipment, accessed from the dining area, or through an outside door (no need to wheel bikes through the house). The spiders also live here. Dogs are welcome (but not upstairs, please).

  • Excellent location and lovely set up! The house felt very homely and gave us exactly what we had wanted! Some brilliant local trails to hike and pubs to drink in. Would return again in a heartbeat!

    Matt2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Such a big house in a beautiful area within the Peak District. I loved the space and the well stocked kitchen. All the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable as well. However, if you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs as the main road is quite noisy, as is the squeaky floorboards. Otherwise, it was fab!!

    Ky-Le2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lantern View House is a large generous house with excellent kitchenware. Peter is a perfect host and replies to questions rapidly. It was spotlessly clean, and the bedrooms were large and felt "crisp" if you know what I mean. There is a huge cellar downstairs with washing machine and dryer so you don't get the noise if the machine is on. It is really easy to find and centrally located in Hayfield. We recommend it without reservation, and I'm sure we will be back. It is on a busy road so if you are a very light sleeper brig ears plugs for the traffic noise.

    Stephen2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, lovely big space would definitely recommend and stay here again next time I’m in the area.

  • Peter and Sally's house was a lovely place to stay. It was above our expectations and the rooms were large, two en-suites, the attic room had a lovely view and the facilities were very clean and well presented. It was a perfect location for us to go walking and a large living space for us to have a group dinner, play cards and watch films. Communication with Peter and Sally was always spot on. Highly recommend this place. x

Spectacular views over Kinder Scout and the Peak District on one side and peaceful fields on the other. This is a smart terraced cottage, cosy, stylish and with vintage charm. Real fires, flagged floors and a pretty garden. 5 mins from village centre, stations, and decent pubs. Festivals, music/art events abound! The loft is airy & bright, yet has blackout blinds. It is the full footprint of the house but has sloping ceilings and beams. The en-suite is tiny but handy. Head height is limited.
The house had been unchanged for 100 years when I made it my home and over the years I've tried to add 'modern conveniences' sympathetically without disrupting the old charm of how I found it. The house therefore has many original features such as, flagged and wooden floors, cast-iron fireplaces in all the rooms and some of the original wallpaper, but it does now have a washing machine in the cellar, a power shower and central heating! The bedrooms on the first floor are for our use and on the same floor as the shared bathroom. The Loft space has a small private en-suite. It is bright and airy with a lovely open view of Lantern pike, Bleaklow and the majestic Kinder Scout.
I'm lucky to have lovely neighbours- the terrace I live on and surrounding folk are great and always there to help if you get stuck! New Mills is a fantastic town. It has the most wonderful walks on the doorstep, Hayfield (at the foot of Kinder) is 3 miles away & the Sett Valley trail also joins the Goyt Way. We are in an area of spectacular natural beauty and the town stands above a natural rocky gorge -The Torrs Riverside Park - the park 'under the town' - which extends to two miles and is a superb place to walk, picnic and learn about the natural and industrial history of the area. Plus it has free outdoor rock-climbing! New Mills is a Mecca for cyclists & horse riders and is also a centre for artists, designers & craftspersons, hosting lots of Art & Music events. We are in easy distance of Bakewell, Chatsworth House, Lyme Park, Haddon Hall and many other attractions. Manchester is 30 mins away on the train and is a brilliant thriving and cosmopolitan city.

I will never forget the gifts that our host brought us during the stay: hot homemade bread just baked out of the oven, homemade cookies - so fresh and tasty! And we haven't heard or see anybody. It was quite and comfortable! I am planning to come back here definitely! We do recommend this place and the host with all our heart. This is the best place to stay for a traveler!

  • James is ace. He couldn't have done any more to make us feel welcome. Everything provided at the house and extra touches were really nice, like a bottle of milk in the fridge and lots of reading materials for local activities. First time using air BnB so I'm really happy that we had James to set the standard. Thanks again x

  • Farlands Cottage was a lovely place to stay for my short visit. The area around the cottage is beautiful and wonderful for walks. The cottage is clean and well kept. James was a fantastic host, who had lots of local tips for walks or things to do in the general area. Would highly recommend and would love to go again!

  • We stayed only two nights, much too short, but it was lovely. Immensely beautiful location! I definitely recommend staying here.

  • James was a great host - quick responses and great local tips. James's place is spot on for a chilled time in the peak district. Also try the eggs!

We have recently moved to our beautiful new home and would now like to offer and warm and friendly welcome to guests coming to enjoy this idyllic part of the world. Our house is a 4 bed detached stone built property in excess of 120 years old and is on the by-pass just after (or before) the junction for Hayfield village. Literally a five minute walk into the centre of Hayfield. The en-suite double bedroom is at the top of the house, completely private and offers delightful views.
The room is light and bright with tea and coffee making facilities, TV, mini fridge, en-suite with shower and fluffy towels and toiletries provided. A wonderful and relaxing place to return to after a day of walking, cycling, fell running or just ambling.
Over the years we have visited Hayfield many times and enjoyed the area so much we eventually decided to move here permanently. The walks up and around Kinder Scout are incredible and Kinder Downfall takes your breath away, especially during frozen winter months. The village itself has many warm and friendly pubs serving excellent food. The local village store is also the post office and open until 9.00 pm every night, the newsagent opens at 6.00 am every day and there are some amazing tearooms and gift shops. All in all a fabulous place to stay!
  • A lovely space in a perfect location with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Sue was very helpful and made us feel welcome. We would love to come back for another stay!

  • Sue was an exceptional host. She made us feel incredibly welcome and it was just like home from home. Nothing was too much trouble for her and breakfast was lovely. The room was warm, the bed was very comfortable and it was spotlessly clean. We are looking forward to going back.

  • You can look forward to a cosy, comfortable and beautiful room with an en-suite shower room in a lovely house. Sue and Pete were wonderful hosts and Hayfield is very pretty with several good pubs, galleries, cafes and small shops. There is excellent walking country all round including walks directly from the house. We hope to come back soon and we thoroughly recommend Sue and Pete’s Airbnb.

  • Perfect place to stay for both it's own location and for visiting Manchester. Stylish annex which I think looks better in real life. Great amenities, smart TV and of course the hot tub which made our stay enjoyable, and finally our lovely host who was so attentive and down to earth. Very comfortable sofa bed (I've slept on really uncomfortable ones before) WITH AN ELECTRIC BLANKET! Couldn't believe my ears! Honestly couldn't fault our stay and our time exploring Marple.

  • Jayne was a brilliant host! Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend away. She looked after us fantastical, the annex was beautiful and clean, and to top it off the hot tub was brilliant. I would definitely recommend a stay here, we will be coming back! Thanks Jayne x

  • An outstanding place to stay. We felt instantly at home as soon as we met the host Jayne let alone before walking into the doors of the lovely annexe. The little touches all around the space that are so thoughtful and made us smile and think 'Jayne has literally thought of everything'. Hot tub under the stars was a fantastic way to end our trip. Jayne gave us local knowledge and the general communication was impeccable. Would definitely recommend staying here and only wish we had more time to stay and explore the local walks and villages. Thank you again for having us. Kelly and Jonny.

  • My partner and I stayed at Jayne's place as we were looking for a relaxing night away and it most certainly did not disappoint. The annex is beautifully decorated, spotless and has everything you need. The hot tub was great, right outside the French doors of the annex leading to the garden. Jayne was a superb host, we were provided with fresh orange, milk tea and coffee and toast and cereal for breakfast. We enjoyed ordering a takeaway from the selection of menus provided and watched a film from the extensive selection provided from the Sky package available. We will most certainly be back again, and next time plan to explore Marple and the bars and restaurants close by. Thank you again Jayne.
