  • Very nice neat and clean little cabin. It is also in a great location!

  • Buck Lodge is a cute little cabin and made for a nice stay in the snow. The indoor electric fireplace made it nice and cozy, and it is decorated for a backwoods feel. The staff keep it sparkling clean and the kitchen and bathroom are well-stocked. It is right by a main road, but still felt enjoyably secluded. We didn't meet Paul, but he made check in easy. We would happily stay again!

Jeanne and Chad are both great hosts... very accommodating and friendly while giving as much space as you would like. We enjoyed quiet days on the river and loved meeting their dog Sam and the goats and chickens. We hope to come back soon! Thank you for everything!!

Welcome to The Morel Cottage, a perfect couples retreat or small group stay! We purchased this property in the spring of 2019 and renovated it from the ground up. We love the way it turned out and couldn't be more excited to share it with you! The cottage features an open concept with a cozy loft upstairs. There is Knotty pine throughout with an abundance of unique touches that truly give you that "up north" feel. There is a log queen bed upstairs and a futon downstairs that can be converted for additional sleeping. All standard amenities are provided with full laundry on site. The cottage sits on two and half mostly wooded acres about six miles east of town. You will find yourself near the end of a dirt road with deer and turkey making regular appearances :) The property is only a half mile from the "Holy Waters" section of the Au Sable River. This section of the river is renound for its beauty and incredible fly fishing. The river and surrounding lakes are a must see when in the area with several canoe liveries within a ten minute drive. There are also several access points along the river for tubing, kayaking, and canoeing within a short drive. State land is plentiful in the area with miles of regulated ORV trails. There is not direct access from the property but we are happy to point you in the right direction. Hartwick Pines and Wakeley Lake State Parks are perfect for hiking, biking and just being amongst nature. There is a book at the cottage featuring local restaurants, attractions, and emergency contacts. We live locally and are always available to help in any way possible. Thanks for considering The Morel Cottage for your stay! Check out our other listing Big Bear Cabin on Airbnb for larger groups :) Nick and Tanya
  • Very aesthetically pleasing cabin in a private wooded area. Perfect for any time of the year.

    Christopher2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Nick and Tanya have created a wonderful AirBnb experience. The renovations they did were terrific -- excellent quality and the perfect balance between rustic and stylish. Everything was super clean. There were just two of us and it was ideal, although we could have fit our two teenage kiddos as well. Late February skiing conditions were also perfect - spent a lot of time at Hartwick Pines SP. Really enjoyed Rolling Oak Brewery (loved Wipe the Sky and the other porters.) Also hit Northbound Outfitters -- they have some excellent high-end gear and we spent way too much money on end of season clearance items. Everyone we met was super friendly and our hosts were very responsive to any questions we might have had. We hope to be back next winter!

This cozy cabin is located in Crawford County, Michigan, known for its military & State owned land. 60% of the county is available for recreation including ORV and snowmobile trails, XC skiing, kayaking, biking and hiking. • We just got home from an amazing weekend at Andy and Carols place and we are already planning our next trip! It was a super cute house extremely clean and decorated beautifully with comfortable beds and lots of games and extra amenities to make it feel homey. The back yard was perfect and we enjoyed a bonfire on Saturday night after a Canoe trip down the Au sable river and a hike along the trail that is right in the back yard. Andy and Carol were extremely friendly and accommodating and helped me as a first time AirBnb user figure out how to book the place. It was a weekend we will all remember for sure and we can’t recommend this house enough. We will definitely be back. Thank you Andy and Carol! :)

In the winter months things don't slow down as the temperatures, snowfall, and terrain make an ideal winter wonderland for hunting, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and even downhill skiing. The area is rich with outfitters supporting your canoe, kayak, tube, ATV, snowmobile, horseback, skiing, and fishing interests; along with other convenient services such as car spotting and livery options to maximize your vacation experience.
  • The Gold Fox Lodge is impeccable - great homey touches, very clean, ideal location, and very peaceful. If it wasn't so booked up, we'd go back in the next few months!

  • This is an awesome place to spend vacation time. Super clean inside and out. We enjoyed watching the birds and furry friends eating and playing every day. The waterfall on the other side of the river was gorgeous. You can’t go wrong staying here. We were very pleased.

BLACK BEAR LODGE ON THE AU SABLE RIVER SLEEPS: 4 BEDROOMS: 1 (queen in master & bunk bed in hall) BATHROOMS: 1 *RIVERFRONT (Au Sable River is difficult to access) *TV with CABLE ONLY, NO WIFI MARCH 2020-For our guests piece of mind regarding the recent Covid-19 outbreak this property will have a deep cleaning and a 3 day grace period in between stays now through May 1st. in order to insure that the property is virus free. Just 100 feet off County Road 612 in Frederic (Crawford County), you'll find this small, charming, classic cabin alongside a beautiful section of the headwater on Au Sable River. Yes, you can see the cars driving by and they often drive faster than we would like during the summer. There is another home across the street, visible from the cabin. The view of the Au Sable is often wide in the winter and narrow in the summer due to the leaves on the many trees surrounding the cottage. Although the cabin rests alongside the Au Sable River, is not easy to enter the river directly from the yard. The entry is in its natural setting and not maintained as an entry point. With a full kitchen, you can cook a great meal, catch your favorite shows with the cable service on the large flat screen TV. The full bath ensures a hot shower after a day on the river or hiking in the woods. There is a queen bed in the main bedroom, built in bunks in the hall that kids adore (the 2nd sleeping area) and a futon in the living room. Enjoy sitting on the patio with your cup of joe or grilling dinner while you catch glimpses of the river down the hill. At night, gaze upon the stars at the fire pit area. Enjoy the river right outside your door. Walk out to the river to cast your rod or set your canoe or kayak on the Headwaters of the Au Sable– known as the Blue Ribbon trout stream. Be care walking down to the river, the first part is steep. The public access to the river is across the bridge (see map) for easier and safer entry to the river.” Try your luck at the 'Holy Waters' in Grayling or the Manistee River down the road just 4 miles from the cabin. If golf is your activity, the cabin is only minutes from the award winning golf courses in Grayling, Gaylord and Shanty Creek. In the wintertime, snowmobilers will enjoy the miles of state trails nearby. The closest trails are Trail 679 & Trail 7, just 0.5 mile east of the cabin- See map photo. Not only are Snowmobiling/ATV Trails nearby, the legendary “Swamp III & Frederic Inn” located down the road- walking distance. If you enjoy downhill or cross country skiing, we have nearby Hanson Hills (Grayling), Treetops (Gaylord), Shanty Creek and Boyne. If the family wants to go tubing, Hanson Hills offers both day and night service. With “one of the best” state parks only 9 miles away, Hartwick Pines State Park, offers scheduled events and activities year round. Enjoy the museum, gift shop, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, hiking, picnicking, birding, hunting, and fishing during the day and return to your comfortable cabin in the woods to relax. Fishing: Situated in the Northeastern quadrant of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, the fabled Au Sable River watershed boasts of nearly 180 miles of blue-ribbon trout water, making it the state's and one of the countries most renowned trout fisheries. Winding through a gently contoured wooded landscape from its freestone headwaters north of Fredric to its frequently impounded tail stretch funneling into Lake Huron, the river is large and varies greatly in size and characteristics along its length. On the Au Sable, one can expect a healthy dose of small to medium-sized rainbows, browns, and brookies, with the chance of tying into a football-sized brown -- not to mention the healthy influx from Lake Huron's most important steelhead run. The Black Bear Lodge is at the headwaters of the Au Sable River. (Fredrick to Grayling) The headwaters of the Au Sable, just north of Frederic, mark the beginning of a nearly 80-mile stretch of blue-ribbon trout water. These waters are classic American freestone in nature, clear and gravel-bottomed, dominated by brook trout with the occasional brown trout. Pressure along this 13-mile stretch from Fredrick down to Grayling is minimal thanks to other local freestone attractions and limited access. At Grayling, the river bends eastward towards its Lake Huron descent. Just below, the East Branch injects a welcome shot of cold water. Unfortunately, both sun-wilted humans and trout alike revel in fresh, cold river water making the fabled fishing town of Grayling a haven for canoeists and water fanatics. Luckily, the trout have grown accustomed to the ruckus and success can be easily achieved in this area. The last Saturday in April marks the opening of trout season for this part of the Au Sable. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS A/C: Window unit only. Ceiling fan and box fans help keep it cool. Animals: Coyotes, partridge, squirrels, rabbits, & standard bugs ATV/Snowmobiles: Yes, ride right from the property. Bring them! Trail 679 and 7 just .5 miles east of the cabin! Bedroom Configuration: Master bed: Queen bed 2nd Bedroom: (in the hallway) twin bunk bed Additional sleeping: Futon in the living room Boats: You are welcome to bring your own row boat or kayak. Bugs: Yes, there are plenty of bugs in the wilderness. If doors are left open, even for short periods of time at the cabin, then bugs/flies/mosquitos love to sneak in. • Freshwater’s place is amazing and cozy. The river in the back yard is perfect for exploring and getting out in the woods for a few hours. You are close to restaurants and state parks but far enough away to not have a lot of neighbors. We would definitely come back and stay here. It was very clean and inviting.

A Perfect cottage for families. We rent for 7 nights. Our cottage is situated right on the beach of Manistee Lake. You will have unobstructed views of the lake from inside your cottage. Watch the breath taking sunsets from inside your cottage, on the patio, on the beach, or on your dock. Bring your water toys and attach them to your dock. Our 2 bedroom 1 bath cottage has everything you need for your summer vacation. Play during the day and enjoy a nice glass of wine by the fire at night.
Our cottage is comfy. The bedrooms are not huge. Bedroom #1 has a double bed, side table with lamp, and a closet. Bedroom #2 has two sets of bunk beds (4 single beds), cubes to put clothes in, and a closet. The bathroom is efficient by design. If you want to spend your vacation in a sprawling bathroom I would suggest going elsewhere. Our completely updated bathroom has one of the smallest, yet efficient sinks you will find. There is a stand up shower tiled from floor to ceiling with soap and shampoo available for your use. The living room has an Ikea lounge couch and a reclining chair. There is a 42 inch smart samsung TV with an electric fireplace under it for your viewing pleasure. There is WiFi and Cable. In the kitchen you will find a full size refrigerator, stove and stove top, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and everything else that you would find in a kitchen including the sink. Since you have exclusive privileges to the dock feel free to bring your boat or jet skis. You will also find great fishing off the end of the dock. The sand is clean and white. The water is clear and beautiful that slopes slowly towards the lake. We like to take walks on the road that goes partially around the lake. We also enjoy a fire at night with a fire pit(communal) that is just off the patio by the water. There is a store within walking distance that makes pizzas, dishes ice cream, and has all your other necessities you might have forgotten.

  • This cabin was so much cuter than my husband and I expected. Very Clean!!! We did have to contact someone when checking in and got a very prompt response. We went in mid February; the cabin was warm and comfortable. Cupboards were stocked with basic kitchen cookware and utensils, no need to bring extras. The only thing we wished we brought were a few DVD's. Tons of snowmobilers around. We found a few nice trails to go snowshoeing on. Beautiful area.

Our place is a convenient place for couples, friends, or families to stay. It is 2 rooms consisting of a dining room and partial kitchen area as well as a bunk room with two sets of bunk beds, couch, chair and TV and of course a bathroom. With wood floors and walls this cabin themed place is very cozy and located right off US 131 just south of Mancelona. A great central location on the Snowmobile Trail or Ski 15 minutes from Bellaire, 30 to Boyne or about 45 minutes to Traverse City or Petoskey.
There is currently no wifi or cable, the TV gets local channels only and has a DVD player. There is a Redbox located outside the Dollar General in Mancelona. It is available outside 24/7.
Located right off US 131 but the traffic noise is not bad.
  • What can I say? Everything was fantastic. We came to ski at Boyne Mountain which was a short drive down the road from the cabin. The place was exceptionally clean. The shower worked better than I thought. Yes the water is hard, but fine to take a shower in. The beds were great for what we needed. I slept very well. There was no stove, but the griddle worked nicely for our needs. The check in was easy with the keypad. This is a great place to stay if you are on a budget like we were. I highly recommend.

  • We had a great time here. The dark nights were perfect for stargazing! The beds are comfortably firm, and the rooms were cool even during the end of June. There is plenty of living space in both rooms, and a lot of amenities in the kitchen, and ample parking. We accidentally locked ourselves out and called the host at 1:30am, she was there and getting us in within a few minutes, thank you for that!

The place is absolutely awesome, not only for the price but just because of how much room there is along with the general comfort of the house. 1/4 mile from a trail that takes you to trail seven. Very convenient for snowmobiling. I highly recommend

  • Stephanie's place was great for our family of 6 (four boys ages 7 months, 4, 6 and 8). We had more than enough space and the basement game room was the perfect spot for family hang out time in the evenings, and to keep our older boys entertained while we unpacked/packed. The house is equipped with anything you would need during your stay, from extra pillows and blankets, to fully stocked kitchen (cooking supplies, seasonings, coffee ect), and little extras in the bathroom (soap, lotion, hairdryer). The laundry room came in handy with my 7 month old's messes. The beds and all the furniture were in good shape and comfortable. This was the best Airbnb experience our family has had so far.

Inside the large four season tent you will find a full regular bed outfitted with warm blankets for the cool summer and cold winter nights. Depending on the amount of people in your group, will determine how tents will be set up. Each tent is set up for two with the ability to set up two (2) additional cots in each tent so a total of eight (8) guests can stay with the use of both tents. If your group would like to bring an additional tent for set up please contact hosts. Your glamping experience includes hammocks strung up for relaxing, an outside shower to clean off the heat of the day, and all of the essentials needed for cooking. The tent comes equipped with cast iron skillets, wash bin, washable plates and silverware. Towels, sheets and blankets are all included. A clothesline, chairs, gas grill and cooler will all be ready for use when you arrive! We provide all the tools you need to camp comfortably and peacefully! There is a port a potty for your use as the septic system is not completely installed (much cleaner than state forest campgrounds vaulted toilets:). You must put the accurate amount of people so we can be sure that cots and additional tent will be ready for your party. We also have the ability to set up additional beds in a smaller nylon tent if you request more people. (Please discuss with host as there will be a charge for extra persons and tent use) We also have the ability to rent kayaks and provide transport service for kayaking trips - please ask! We also offer an Airbnb Experience that might interest you if you are looking for some adventuring as well! Please be advised that we do not allow dogs.
Quiet. Peaceful. Beautiful. Supreme stretch of Blue Ribbon Trout Stream. This setting is breathtaking and will offer you all the peace and quiet you have been seeking! If you desire to tent but don't want to deal with all the gear, setting up and tearing down and all the other obstacles that comes with camping, this is the place you have been seeking!
  • We have stayed here twice. Once my husband and I to have a weekend alone and once my husband and the kids to have a guys weekend. The place was great with everything we could ever need and so peaceful. Chad and aimee were great at communicating and providing us with Information about the area. It was a great quiet time to get away from it all with some nice kayaking. Couldn't ask for better hosts.

  • Lovely out of the way spot! With everything you might need on hand. Bed was super comfy!

    Julia2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Chad and Aimee's glamping adventure was such a nice getaway. Very private and tranquil, so many thoughtful touches like extra chairs and pillows, hammock, ingredients for smores, and a cute private dock overlooking a pristine creek.

    Kara2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful private location along a crystal clear stream. The tent and furnishing is first class. Having kayaks onsite and heading out from the campsite is a real plus. We enjoyed going down Big Cannon Creek and the Manistee river. We saw eagles, blue heron and deer along the way. The location is also great for side trips. We did a day trip to Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and stopped in Traverse dinner for a great dinner. We would definitely do this trip again.

    Ray2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and quiet spot up North. Loved watching an eagle fly over our campsite as we drank coffee by the river or watch the deer walk around in the early morning.

    Donna2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice. We had a great time.

    Laura2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • BEST VACATION EVER!! I cannot say enough about our experience here. The tent was beautiful -- hosts provide everything you could ever need. We had a couple of days that rained & the tent held up perfectly. Great stay no matter the weather!! Beautiful site. We could relax in the refreshing creek all day long. Hosts are incredibly friendly & willing to help in any way they can. Worth every penny. We cannot wait to return! You will not regret choosing this for your next getaway!

  • Big 🐻 Cabin is a must stay! We took a Christmas Adventure this year, I must say opening the door to this little cabin with Christmas tree lit and garland around the fire place was such an amazing site! Our children will remember it for years to come, ( the point of these trips)! We did a little hiking and shopping as well. Small town fun! Great hosts, super cute and clean! We will always remember our Christmas at Big Bear!!

  • OMG! THIS IS A MUST RENT PLACE! I almost don't want to give a review and keep this place a secret for just us! LOL When I enter into the cabin... it was like stepping into a fairy tale! Every deco and touch was so thought out... and made for such a cozy and romantic get-away - very private - after my husband and I have been so incredibly busy and hadn't had any quality time, this place was just the perfect spot!!! They also had ANYTHING you need in the kitchen, fully stocked with kitchen cooking utensils etc... HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

My place is close to Lake St Helen, ATV Trails, The Dream, Nightmare Golf Courses. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space, it is a wonderful spot to enjoy a weekend away.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (dogs). I will always do my best to have fresh sheets installed on the beds. Please understand I live 2.5 hours south of the cabin and may not always be able to change out bedding for the next guest. There will always be clean sheets at the cabin.
I am not charging a cleaning fee as some guests may have to put fresh linens on the bedding when they arrive. Clean sheets will always be at the cabin and easily accessible. Flat screen TV with usb plugs for a firestick or whatever streaming video you want to bring. Laptop etc. The cabin has wifi "no cable television" Please be advised that I can not fold a fitted sheet very well. The fitted sheets will be clean and I do my best to fold them but I'm still working out the kinks :) Pet Disclaimer: I love dogs and love that I can offer my guest the opportunity to bring their fur babies to the cabin. I have had a few guest that have had dogs that shed and have not cleaned up after their dog. Please if you bring your dog/dogs, clean up after them if they shed. There is a vacuum/broom/swiffer in the cabin. Please keep in mind that not everyone is pet friendly and if you leave dog hair behind and the next guest is allergic it can lead to an issue for their rental. The kitchen has now been equipped with a stove and oven 7-4-19. Charcoal and fire wood is the guest responsibility, it will not be provided upon arrival. The Weber grill is propane and has a tank provided. The offset smoker is great if you want to bring any meats or fish to smoke. Again charcoal and wood chips are guest responsibility. Hot Tub and Pole Barn Are Not for guest use.
Very close to all ATV and snowmobile trails. St Helen is very off road friendly, you can ride your off road vehicles on the side of the road anywhere in town at the dedicated speed limit of 25mph. Higgins lake and Houghton lake are both a very close 20 minute drive. Hiking trails, disc golf near Kirkland college and Roscommon are also within 15 miles. The Dream and The Nightmare golf courses are also within a short 10 minute drive. If you are a golfer and want to cross an amazing course off the bucket list? Forest Dunes is only a 30 minute drive.

    Luke2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Ben, was amazing, and it is the cutest little cabin. His patience with this old woman and my requests was greatly appreciated. Things went according to plan as I worked on my book and relaxed. Plus, we live in the country and it is kind of remote, so Nickel (my Shepherd/Husky) was fascinated by all the dogs and people. I had one teeny, tiny problem. There were two small rugs in the kitchen area. They are dangerously slippery. I have had a knee replacement and the first time in the kitchen the rug and I slid hard into the counter. I slipped a few more times before I just stashed them in the corner. We had one little hiccup and Ben was on it fast. Phone reception was spotty, WiFi was strong, TV had all the Hulu and Netflix you could want, and a wide range of DVDs. The cabin was clean, comfortable and more than I had expected. I loved it, the area, the people, and the quiet. Ben was the quintessential host. I hope he will allow us to come back. I highly recommend, THE BEN MAC SHACK. P.S. I think Ben likes golf. Lol.

    Kylie2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place! So comfy, cozy and homey! And furbaby friendly which is a huge plus! Very clean and in a cute little neighborhood, where all the neighbors seemed very folk friendly. Awesome patio furniture on the porch, and very comfy bed and couch! Ben also has tips around the house which were both super cool and helpful - along with map printouts of different activities, and a pizza place menu on the fridge for a quick and easy meal. Very peaceful at night, and we had an overall awesome experience! We will definitely be returning. Thanks, Ben!

  • This place is perfect for all reasons and seasons! It’s situated within a mile between two beautiful and pristine lakes, (Bear and Cub) just off 72. Coming up in the winter? Bring your snowmobiles because there are a plenty of amazing trails right out the front door! In the spring and summer you’re literally within about a 10 minute walk to the public accuses of either of the lakes. Of course a fall stay guarantees breathtaking colors as the leaves begin to change. The place itself is situated on property large enough to have a boat/snowmobile trailer. It is VERY clean, no detail going unnoticed. They lovingly stock basic toiletries and coffee, and if you forget your blow dryer, don’t panic! There’s one there. If you’re up for an amazing day trip there’s so many places a scenic drive away to go explore: Traverse City Torch Lake Leelanau Peninsula Old Mission Peninsula Petosky Tunnel of Trees Heartwick Pines Just to name a few! Finally, the main reason to stay here is Pops and Pam. They have beautiful and gracious hearts and take great care in all they do to ensure their guests are comfortably accommodated. The are available instantly for any needs or questions you might have and they live close by. Comfortable, clean, cozy and convenient. That’s how I would sum this place up.

  • This little cabin is perfect for anything and everything! Trails, relaxing, nature lovers, star gazing. The decor was an absolutely perfect fit. Chris's cabin had everything we needed to make our escape easy and light to pack. We definitely want to come back. Also, we are not new to cabin rentals and this is by far one of the best we have ever been to!

  • Awesome little cabin off the beaten path. Surrounded by beautiful trees and a creek. Great place to go unplug and relax. There’s perfect cell phone service and satellite TV if you choose not to unplug. Either way it’s a great place.
