The concept of this facility is not just to renovate, but to remake while preserving the good qualities of old houses, to redefine their value, and to make them modern and comfortable. The facility is located at the foot of Mt. Ibuki in Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture. Enjoy a relaxing time feeling the blessings of the mountains and nature to your heart's content. We also rent BBQ grills and tent saunas, so you can enjoy an extraordinary experience while feeling at one with nature. * We may not be able to provide a tent sauna depending on availability. Please note that we are only able to lend it free of charge, and even if it cannot be used, we cannot change the amount.

The quiet living room and forest-like garden are connected through the veranda You will be healed by the sound of birds and greenery. Go out to the veranda and quietly enjoy meditation and tea time. It's an old house, but the house has been completely renovated, (2023) You can spend a warm winter and cool summer. At your own pace, A tea box where you can taste and compare teas from Shiga prefecture coffee (Nescafe Dolce Gusto) are available. The bookshelf has books on Japanese culture, gardens, kimono, kaiseki cuisine, and a photo collection that allows you to experience the culture of Shiga Prefecture.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.

To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.

TABITABI JURAKU is a fully renovated Taisho-era machiya offering 100㎡ of private space. Historic beams and traditional details blend with modern design. Omi's Machiya "Kado" Traditional building preservation area

This is the only guest house (entire house rental) facing Shinmachi Street in an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The streets lined with merchants' houses, built in the late Edo period to the Meiji era, give you a strange feeling as if time has stopped when you step into it. This Shinmachi neighborhood is important not only for its scenery but also as a historical site. This is a very rare accommodation where you can stay in such an area.

Kurazo is limited to one group, and can accommodate from 2 to 6 people, with a private Shigaraki stoneware bathtub.

This guesthouse is a renovated 120-year-old traditional Japanese house located in the merchant town of Omi Hino, overlooking Mt. Watamuki in the Suzuka Mountains of Shiga Prefecture, with the concept of "nostalgic yet new." The townscape of Hino itself is somehow nostalgic and calming. "Watamukiyama Village" was born in a corner of this town in 2019. Accommodation is limited to one group at a time, and the accommodation fee starts from the rate for two people.
