  • You can expect a very large individual house with great space in the rooms. Very ornate individual choice of furniture but a lovely homely feel to the house. We were a group of 9 and had all the space we wanted. Great large house.

NHS staff see below for details. Mallard is a traditional underdwelling with wonderful original features including beams and barrelled ceilings. It is tucked away high above the river, reached directly by a path and has a lovely view from its own garden to the sheltered woodland beyond. The private hot-tub is available for an additional cost. Exclusive use of the owners private heated indoor swimming pool, spa bath and sauna is also available for an additional charge, subject to availability.
Mallard is in a quiet conservation area and is only suitable for people who are willing to be respectful of the peaceful nature of the setting. Mallard has both a small kitchen and small separate dining room with a unique barelled ceiling. It is a spacious cottage for two adults with a large sitting room and bedroom with delightful views over the garden and beyond. The hot tub (optional charges apply see below) has a wonderful view out over the garden to the countryside beyond. The garden is very quiet, the only noise is from the river rushing far below when it is in full flood. Because it is so quiet, noise carries easily, so the cottage is only suitable for people who are prepared to respect the quiet conservation area and keep it quiet. We have had complaints from the neighbours on the main road that some guests have been very noisy too late at night. Guests guilty of this in future will be asked to leave immediately. The master bedroom is very spacious and has a super king size bed (6') and an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is very, very small and is accessed through the master bedroom, so it was originally intended to be a dressing room or study. There is just room for a small bed and bedside table as you can see in the photos, there is no storage space. It is suitable for a child, or two small children, or an adult who is good friends and willing to share the dressing, storage space & en-suite with the occupant/s of the master bedroom. Swimming pool There is also the option (additional charges apply) for exclusive use of the owners private indoor swimming pool. The pool is heated to 32 degrees Celsius. It is 8mx5m (26’3”x16’5”) and has a 2m deep end. The swimming pool is located in a converted barn and has views out over the owners field to the Peak District moors beyond. In the swimming pool room there is also an indoor spa bath. In the adjacent changing room there is also a sauna - if guests hire the pool, both are also available for £3 each for 30 minutes. Guests of Your Yorkshire Time - Holmfirth Hot-tub Heaven (Eider, Mallard, Shelduck & Teal) can book the pool for their exclusive use for 75 minutes for the discounted rate of £30, or £60 for two hours 30 minutes. The swimming pool is situated at your hosts own home, 8 miles south of Holmfirth. The drive from Holmfirth to the swimming pool provides spectacular views of the Peak District. There are separate house rules for the swimming pool. Use of the pool is subject to availability. Please book early to avoid disappointment. To do so send an Airbnb message with your preferred time/s and dates.
Holmfirth is a quirky village, as woderfully showcased in the TV series Last of the Summer Wine. It is ideal for hikers and cyclists, but also for people who want to wander its quaint cobbled streets and enjoy the market and numerous shops, pubs and restaurants and other attractions. There is also a live music venue - the Picturedrome. The centre of the village is a ten minute walk down hill from the cottage. The walks can be accessed right from the door. Holme Moss with its spectacular views is the steepest climb on the Yorkshire section of the Tour de France and is a short cyle ride / drive away. The river running through the village always has lots of ducks to feed and there is the famous annual Holmfirth Duck race and many annual festivals including the Festival of Folk, the Arts Festival and the Food and Drink Festival.
  • We had an amazing week at the cottage. Angela was an absolutely fantastic host, she left us to it, but was always on hand to answer questions and have a chat. From the moment we stepped in the cottage we loved it, as others have said the hamper is exceptional, I don't think I have ever seen such a thoughtful welcoming gift, along with homemade cakes. The cottage itself is exactly as described, infact it was bigger than I was expecting ('small' in the Peak District is different to 'small' in London). The kitchen had everything we needed in it to cook our meals, the sofa was comfy with plenty of blankets. Upstairs, the bed was really comfortable, I had the best night's sleep there (helped by the fact I could kick my other half into the small second room if he was snoring!) The hot tub was the icing on the cake, I made use of it every day and it was helpful having plastic cups available so we could enjoy a glass of bubbly at the end of a long day's walking. Most importantly, the cottage is SILENT at night, just bliss. The cottage is really well located, 10 min walk to Holmfirth, but more importantly walking trials could be reached from the garden, by just popping across the river. We didn't need to use our car at all. The price was really reasonable as well! I would highly recommend this cottage.

  • Very nice place, stayed before lockdown and was a great little get away for a long weekend

    Joel2020-03-23T00:00:00Z

  • This place is amazing! Angela was so incredibly thoughtful! We went for our first wedding anniversary and had the best time. Angela recommended places to eat and walks to go on as well, we had such a great time! Thank you so much

  • Fantastic little cottage with a lovely hot tub...furnishings are the best of the best. Lots of personal touches, very welcoming. Highly recommend. Thank you Angela

  • This really was an amazing place to go. Angela was helpful, organised and so thoughtful. Due to Angela's great hopsitality and lovely house my boyfriend and I were able to really enjoy our stay.

    Emma2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Mallard Cottage. The lovely village of Holmfirth is a short walk away, and we enjoyed some long scenic walks into the surrounding countryside. The cottage was well equipped, perfectly clean and tidy and Angela's finishing touches (and yummy cake!) were brilliant. Highly recommended!

Peaceful old house near Dewsbury hospital, with fast WI-FI, easy access to motorways & on direct train line from Manchester Airport, and to Leeds and York. Space to park inside our garden, public transport to Yorkshire Moors, Huddersfield, Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Ossett & a walk from Red Brick Mill. Its one of two rooms available in our house, so check both listings. xx Elaine
You are all welcome of course, not just arty people! We live in an old Victorian house, built in 1872, set in a private crescent, so away from traffic. Jorge is a cameraman and editor, as well as our technology Mr. Fixit! I (Elaine) am the artist and wedding photographer. Between us we speak several European languages: Greek, Spanish, German, French & Italian. Dewsbury is near several major towns (Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford, Wakefield, under 10 miles apart) and has easy access to both M1 and M62 so you can explore from our home as a base. We have super fast WI-FI, and in house techie (Jorge). The internet password is in our house manual which Airbnb send you once you have confirmed your booking. If you like walking there are several lovely walks and woods nearby too, I am veggie but my husband is a carnivore so if you would like to share a meal with us, just let me know. We often travel with our wedding photography and video work - to all sorts of places abroad, so understand how important it is to feel at home when away from home...much more fun than a hotel! See our guidebook for bus and train station locations: London (189 miles), Leeds (10 miles), Bradford (10 miles), Huddersfield (10 miles), Wakefield (6 miles), Sheffield (30 miles), Manchester (40 miles). Happy to meet you from the train and to either walk up with you to show you the footpath, or to pick you up by car if we are around at the time you arrive. Message me if you'd like help checking best public transport routes, as happy to look them up for you. If you fancy a bike ride to get around the various Greenways, and Canal tow-paths in the area, you can borrow one of our mountain bikes if you like too. You will still need to go up at least one steep hill to get back to us though I'm afraid, but if I can do it at 60+, am sure you can too. No worries if you choose to push it for the last bit though of course! xx Elaine & Jorge
We love the peace and quiet, set among old Victorian houses. and easy access to main motorways East-West (M62) and North South (M1), large towns nearby for interesting experiences and night life, and quick access to open countryside and Yorkshire Moors. Dewsbury itself is an old town, with buildings in the centre mainly from the same era as our house. Market days are Wednesdays and Saturdays, where you will see a variety of stalls selling clothes, food, and electrical goods. Apart from several large supermarkets, the town centre is mainly pound shops and charity shops so for serious shoppers Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield or Huddersfield are more likely to be of interest. Crow Nest Park is an easy walk away - about 10 minutes - and features in some of the photos on our listing.
  • Great value, lots of lovely attention to detail. Elaine is very accommodating and goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable.

    Gemma2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to travel the world from the comfort of a beautiful home look no further. Elaine is a B&B veterain, you will be provided all you need and so much more. Elaine & her husband Jorge are such interesting characters, never a dull moment if you wish to spend time chatting with the friendly hosts.

    Lewis2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful experience Flexible checkin was vital for us and Elaine was a fab host caring and lots of attention to detail. Excellent communications I hope we turned out to be decent guests and thank you for your patients

  • Just love this place. And Elaine and will never stop staying here. It’s creative and quirky and might not be for everyone. I’ll say it again. I love it.

    Nick2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • A warm and friendly welcome.

    Julia2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine is a warm and caring host. House is unusual - big and old, paintings on every wall (by Elaine), and full of character. Elaine took every care to make sure I was warm enough (December...) and the bed was really comfortable with lovely fresh white cotton sheets.

    Sophie2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you like sanitised the bland and impersonal places like premier in and the like then you will not like staying here. If you like homes and people Full of colour, vibrancy and life then you will be amazed not only by the experience you will have but also the value and outstanding hospitality offered. I was travelling to work in a community in Leeds and booked my stay with my two sons at the absolute last minute. Elaine accommodate to do so without blinking and I, made made us breakfast and even came along to our event and helped us out by taking photographs. Elaine and her home are the sorts of secrets and treasures that Airbnb serves up every once in awhile. I cannot recommend it highly enough, the people who appreciate what is important in life, its people.

  • Most welcoming couple. Everything was as described on the web. Kitchen has everything you need and was clean and tidy. House was cosy and warm. The steps to the front door are not a problem as there is level access to the rear. It was actually nice to forego a TV for a few days 😊. Will definitely return.

Characterful, cosy and quirky late 17th century weaver's cottage situated in the suburb of Fartown approximately 1.4 miles from Huddersfield town centre and train station. There are excellent links from the train station to Manchester airport, Leeds, York and London via Wakefield. Bus stops are close by (for Huddersfield and Bradford) and there is easy access to the M62 (approximately 2 miles away).
The small cottage is full of character, with an interior that's a fusion of vintage, retro, industrial, rustic and country cottage elements. The main space is the cosy kitchen/living room (approx 5 metres x 3 metres in size). The kitchen section has a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, smoothie maker, single induction hob and small oven. The simple living room has two comfortable leather armchairs, coffee table, and electric heater. The upstairs bedroom (approx 3 x 3metres in size) contains one double bed, an electric heater in the bedroom, hanging space for clothes, and a wall-mounted 40 inch television with main freeview channels in HD. The new bathroom suite has an electric shower. There is NO WiFi in the cottage. Outside the cottage is a private/fenced garden with outdoor table and two chairs, that guests are welcome to use. There is an adjoining cottage next door (it is currently unoccupied, but there could be workmen on site at times doing work renovating it). The cottage accommodate 1-2 guests due to its size. Although situated in a fairly busy urban area, the cottage is set back from the road which gives it a more removed and secluded feeling and usually its pretty quiet. Guest access Guests are welcome to arrive from 3pm onwards and the departure time is by 11.am. Other things to note Please be aware that there is no Wi-Fi in the cottage. There will be a selection of foodstuffs available (in the fridge and on the shelves) for the preparation of breakfast, which could include the following: bread, butter, breakfast cereals, various spreads, filter coffee and tea. Although the cottage is Andy's home, on occasions he may need to call by for various reasons, but would let you know in advance. Whenever possible, guests will be greeted by Andy, otherwise guests can use the key safe for self check-in from 3pm onwards.
Within a short walking distance away is a post office, bakery, chemist, launderette, general store, takeaways and restaurants. There's also a choice of supermarkets in the area including Asda, Aldi, Sainsburys and Tesco.
  • Very cute cottage, really enjoyable stay. Perfect if you're looking for some time to yourself to read or listen to music. It is a very small place, so be prepared for that, but it adds to the charm. If the weather had been better this week, I would have been able to enjoy the garden area a bit more. Recommended for spring / summer months. The accommodation was very cute, and I had a great time there. It is the perfect place if you want to spend a little time alone. The house is quite small but this adds to its charm. In spring / summer it would be an ideal place.

  • The Nest is a really cosy, clean and comfortable place to stay. A place to relax in as soon as you walk through the door. Andrew provides all you need (plus some very thoughtful extras) to ensure a great stay. We will definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone looking to visit this area.

  • As they say...’Good things come in small packages’! I arrived late and walked up the side path. At first I wasn’t sure as the house next door looked run down , HOWEVER , don’t be put off as you realise it’s having a facelift , the builders are in progress updating. So once in it’s a safe little nest .. As a woman on my own, with dog, it was ideal. All small details thought of for your furry friend too. Everything explained very clearly re heating , all simple to use .. fridge had a choice of milks ( very thoughtful) and all very clean..the bed is extremely comfortable... and the best thing for me, I had no WiFi so peace and quiet .... a great excuse. Andrew responded quickly to any question . Yes I would recommend . Thank you Andrew.

  • Beautifully decorated cosy little place. The host Andy was very generous with the amenities available, everything you would want for a short stay and was there.

  • The cottage is adorable and beautiful with lovely comfy facilities and lots of personal touches for the guests who stay there. Andrew was easy to get a hold of while being very welcoming and answered every question even providing good places nearby to eat or bus and train options for those who need it. Would easily recommend this place as it was nice location and lovely accommodation and hosting.

  • Host is so welcoming, friendly and helpful eg taxi to venue. Louise showed us where to help ourselves to warm drinks in the kitchen and where to eat that evening - bath towels huge and fluffy - bedroom was quirky which I liked - and bathroom had a lovely big bath but we only stayed one night and shower fine. Loved the Temple Spa products ! Bed so so comfy too. A great find. Thanks again.

A first floor apartment with nobody below (archway apartment) and nobody above. Set just above Holmfirth, this uniquely designed apartment gives you all the benefits of a house in an easy to manage apartment space. With off road parking and access to Yorkshire and the surrounding counties, it makes the perfect choice for both business commuters and holidaymakers alike. Motorways: the M1 is 10 mins east; the M62 is 20 mins to the north. Go West, and the M60 around Manchester is just 30 mins away
“Hill Top Apartment” is based on two guests in the main bedroom on a double bed. A further two can be accommodated in the living area on the double sofa bed. There is also the option of a further single pull-put bed, which can be set up alongside the double bed in the master bedroom (the extra guests are charged per person, per night). The house has one large family bathroom. We are dog-friendly! We only ask that pooches don’t venture into the master bedroom:) We do have clean dog beds available to you if you need them, though; just let us know:) If you’re cyclists, then there is also the option of a secure storage space downstairs for bikes.
Sitting in the heart of the breath-taking Holme Valley, this picture-postcard town is popular with walkers, cyclists and wildlife lovers alike. Holmfirth is the renowned location of the TV classic Last of the Summer Wine, and the acclaimed live music venue, The Picturedrome, a century-old picture house that stages touring bands throughout the year.
  • A lovely little apartment on a quiet estate. We went for a week of climbing which was unfortunately cut short due to the Corona virus outbreak, however we will certainly be returning. Everything was clean and tidy, a cosy place without feeling too small. Great for if you have a dog, accessible for climbing (just over 30mins to Stanage). Well worth the price, would thoroughly recommend :)

  • We were going to a wedding at Bagden Hall and the bungalow was about 20 minutes away. Someone in our party was driving so it didn't matter that it wasn't right on the doorstep. The bungalow was nice and spacious for us (3 adults and a baby) they provided a cot which was great. All in all great stay

  • Lovely spot perfectly situated just outside Huddersfield- on the doorstep of beautiful countryside. Brian and Sally are great welcoming hosts who met us on arrival and made sure we had everything we needed. We only stayed one night but it would be a perfect spot to stay longer as a base to explore - there is a lovely secluded garden patio area too so you can chill out in your own little corner.

Our place is conveniently situated a stone throw away from the town centre and all its surrounding much required amenities. You’ll absolutely love it here, as both the Huddersfield train and bus station are minutes walk away making transport extremely efficient . The university, cafes restaurants, and takeaways are all available in and around the town centre.
It's extremely clean n tidy with a new wood floor
The studio flat is 1 minute walk to the fantastic Greenhead park, the chippy, pizza and a good chicken n chips shop, a independent grocery store. The town centre is again 1 minutes walk.
  • It was such a pleasure for me and my girlfriend to stay at Maneer’s studio! Everything was perfect, price was very good for the value, the bed was super cozy, very good cooking conditions, heating was warming very quickly... it’s even pretty good for work and business video calls (after some tiny arrangements). Absolutely recommended! :)

Located in the lovely Yorkshire village of Clayton West, the surrounding countryside is very peaceful and quiet. Our newly renovated studio flat is self-contained, comprising of an entry hall with kitchen, a shower room with toilet and a bed-sitting room. The whole place is wonderfully light and airy with large windows and high ceilings. There is free off road parking, right outside your own entrance, available during your stay, making loading/unloading as convenient as possible for you.
The kitchen is equipped with crockery, cutlery & cooking utensils, toaster, kettle, sink, half-size dishwasher, single plate induction hob, microwave and under-counter fridge with ice compartment. The bathroom contains a vanity unit with small basin, toilet, walk-in shower and underfloor heating. The bed-sitting room has a day bed, a large dining table with four chairs, a wardrobe, a cupboard and a flat screen TV with DVD player. The day bed opens out into a doule bed. The room has three large, double glazed windows, one west facing and two south facing - it’s wonderfully bright. Outdoor seating & a portable BBQ available upon request. Bicycles can be locked indoors over night. As well as the complementary tea & coffee we can provide extra milk, eggs, bread, butter, jams & honey etc. at an additional cost. Vegan options available. Please let us know if you want us to provide a continental breakfast or fill the fridge for you. Let us know if there’s anything else we could do to help you to enjoy your stay. No WiFi available at the moment, but we have excellent connection to the 4G network. The studio flat is part of an old industrial building, originally built as the weaving shed for Kaye’s Textile Mill, around 1880. After the mill was shut down the weaving shed became the village hall. At one point in the 1920s it was a roller skating rink. It then became a book binders and in the 1930s Walker’s Printers. As the owner was also an organist, playing at the local churches and chapels, there used to be organs along one wall and the apprentice boy had to operate the bellows during his break, while eating his lunch, so that Mr. Walker could practice. It has been our family home for the last ten years. I am a textile designer and my husband John is a photographer and filmmaker, so we have studio spaces and a workshop. We both work from home and host events here. We also rent the studio space out. Though I’m new to AirBnB, I grew up on a farm in Bavaria, where my family ran holiday flats, [and still do]. Before studying textile design I worked in the hotel and hospitality industry for ten years. John ran an outdoor pursuits centre in the South of France for seven years. We both have lots of experience in hospitality and are looking forward to making your stay with us extra special.

Shelley is a beautiful quiet area, set in rolling countryside with incredible views and lovely places to walk and hike. Within walking distance from my house is a lovely local pub, shop, hairdressers and cafe. We have a stunning restaurant called 'The Three Acres' only a few minutes away by car. I'm also located very close to Holmfirth & Emley. Plus Huddersfield town centre, Sheffield and Wakefield are only a 20 / 30 minute drive away.
  • We had another great stay in Shelley. James had the house warmed for our arrival. It was spotless.

  • Thanks to James for providing a nice simplistic stylish house. It was perfect for my needs. Fast WiFi as well. Quality heating. Everything you need included. Will stay again one day.

  • 2nd time in this house. James is a fantastic host. The house was spotless AGAIN. Cheers

    Adam2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house is excellent. There’s is nothing bad I can say about it. It’s located on a fairly quiet road and has a driveway for your car. There is enough entertainment to keep you busy on rainy days. Netflix is available as long as you have an account to sign into, Plenty of DVDs to choose from and a games console with two controllers with a selection of games to choose from. The sofa is very comfortable and the beds are very comfy too. The kitchen has all the basic things you’ll need to cook. All in all a great house. The host, James, is very friendly and professional. He knows the local area very well. He is very quick at responding to any questions you may have and will respond on the same day.

  • Lovely place, great comms from James and an unspoilt gem of a town. We used James' home to explore the surrounding area of Yorkshire and found it to be a great place for returning home to each night. The house has all you need to stay comfortable during a break, with comfy beds, super snuggly duvets and an all round quality home to enjoy. The local pub is also very interesting with very friendly owners, an eclectic mix of clientele, well looked after ales and good pub grub when it was needed. Thanks James

  • I booked this lovely studio pretty much last minute as I needed to self-isolate for a week prior to some hospital treatment (I wasn’t infectious!) The check in procedure was very straight forward and once inside the studio I was surprised at how delightful it was! it was very clean with some lovely touches, I was able to cook, work and even have breakfast and lunch outside the studio thanks to some wonderful bi-fold doors! The bathroom is great with a fab powerful and hot shower and the kitchen area has sufficient storage for food (if you decide to cook!) and there is a good mid-sized fridge freezer... The bedroom has a TV on the wall and the wifi was very good... The views from the bedroom are outstanding, I just wanted to get my boots on and head out, unfortunately that wasn’t possible this time, but I will be back to do the walks and sample the array of bars and restaurants that Holmfirth has to offer! Finally a word about the hosts, Karen & Kevin, although we could only chat from a distance it was apparent that they are genuinely nice people and in different circumstances I’m sure a social glass of wine would have been apt! Thoroughly recommended!!!

  • The annex is so beautiful and amazing furnished! Claire is such a thoughtful host, alongside her husband - there was chocolate buttons left for us along side crumpets, milk, pastries ect. The annex was lovely a private, so we could have our alone time. I cannot not emphasise how lovely this was! We was also able to stay longer as there was no one staying there the next night which allowed us to look around Holmfirth. Would 1000% recommend this lovely place to anyone! Thank you so much - chloe and reef x

  • A great place for a stay in Holmfirth and the surrounding area. A fantastic view across the fields of the Holme valley. We only had a short stay but would happily go back for longer. Claire was a great host, she welcomed us and responded quickly to queries, but otherwise left us to our own devices.

  • Claire is an excellent host! She was incredibly friendly and helped us with all our requests. Communication was superb! This gorgeous place is a lot more spacious than you think. Claire is so generous and left out pastries, cereal bars, cereal boxes, a small smoothie for our young one and much more! We loved our stay and we'd definitely come back, next time we're in Holmfirth. Thank you so much for having us. Top tip: If you're not an experienced driver / Parker, you're best to park road side, but, if you can handle it, the drive is very convenient and so close to the entrance! Thanks again Claire. This really was one of our best Airbnb stays.

  • First time using Airbnb (although have used other similar sites) so rightly so, was a bit nervous. Angela is a great host, and gave a really warm welcome. Directions to the house were spot on. Her home is immaculate, and very stylish! The rooms provided for guests are spotlessly clean, comfortable and homely. The bed is seriously comfortable and I slept like a log! Totally recommend staying here to anyone considering it!

    Tony2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to stay.

    Carl2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was genuinely the best Airbnb stay I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a few! I was given tips right from the start on where to get food from and which taxi company to use to save money. When I arrived. I felt so welcomed and looked after. Angela had thought of everything - down to some emergency paracetamol and toiletries. Her and her husband are amazing hosts and really care about guests comfort. I had access to the kitchen, where I joined them for breakfast on my final day, and to a private lounge space which was cosy and stylish. The house itself is modern, clean and warm with amazing plush carpets. The private bathroom is again very clean and modern with a lovely big shower. The bed is super comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets (something I struggle with usually when doing Airbnb is a lack of supportive pillows). Although it’s a stay in someone’s house, there was plenty of space to keep to myself if I wanted without feeling uncomfortable at all. It’s in a super location, only about 25 minutes walk from the centre. They truly went above and beyond as hosts and I would genuinely go back to Huddersfield just to stay with them! We had some lovely and interesting conversations. It was like staying with a best friend’s parents, which is a big compliment.

Traveller's studio is a beautifully converted artist workshop and is situated behind private gates. The cottage has a light and spacious feel and it has been appointed and decorated stylishly and with practicality in mind. Perhaps one of the best features are the views across fields of horses and the sunsets are amazing. The cottage is on two levels, with a kitchen and living area. The bed has the option to be twins or a fastened together super-king-sized bed.
Self contained cottage with twin beds that can work as a queen size. New bathroom suite, cosy living room with separate kitchen that has wonderful views across the valley are bar stools which is a great area to work in. Original art on the walls, desk, comfy sofa (sofa bed) and occasional chairs.
The neighbourhood Location: Upper Hopton is a pretty village to walk around with 2 pubs serving excellent food and Upper Hopton Club selling good cheap beer. There is a park with a children’s play area and a cricket club. The area is highly successful in ‘Britain in Bloom village’ and has again been awarded a gold in the spring judging.

All of Richards fabulous art work adorning the walls are fantastic and really add something special to the cottage. The bed was so comfortable, it was hard to get up most mornings. Lots of hot water and great shower. I can not recommend Richards cottage highly enough, we will definitely be back on our next family visit. Thank you Richard for your hospitality x

  • We stopped here as we were going to a party at a nearby pub. It was a difficult weekend for the property owner Linda but rather than just blocking it off as unavailable she went out of her way to make our stay as pleasant as possible so a big thank you to her. The house is as described; very new and furnished to a high standard. Linda keeps it very clean and obviously works hard to ensure her guests are well looked after - she communicated by return and answered any questions we had such as available taxi's. We can throughly recommend staying at this accommodation.

Loved the little touches like the house slippers and masks (during covid 19) just wish I’d had more time there & to enjoy the lovely garden area, I would definitely stay again and recommend. Many thanks once again. Xx

  • My girlfriend and I had a magical weekend staying here; cooking, exploring and relaxing together, in a little zen haven. It was just what we needed, a brilliant quiet location and beautiful space that felt like home. We highly recommend it! :)

  • Amy's place was perfect for our needs. We attended a wedding near by and found that the four of us could get ready in the house with ease. The location meant we were only minutes away from the M62 and the venue in Lindley. The kitchen was very well equiped with pans, utensils, crockery and cutlery. The beds were comfy and rooms were clean. The instructions for the house were clear and Amy has been great with communicating details.

  • Excellent communication from amy, lovely creative, cosy home, well situated for trips into Huddersfield and beyond.

A lovely double room overlooking woods half a mile from the centre of the market town of Holmfirth. English breakfast included and access to a private lounge with woodburner and door straight out into the garden.
This is a cosy double room with a wooden floor and original cast iron fireplace dating back to the 1880s. The window overlooks the garden, woods and stream beyond and still has the original wooden shutters. The room is quiet and dark at night (no ambient street light). There are old wooden beams, one of which is carved by local artist Mick Kirkby Geddes. Antique, but comfortable double bed with feather topper, chair, chest of drawers, wardrobe and dressing table. The room is part of our house so you will be sharing the main house bathroom, which includes a bath and drencher shower. (We do have other toilet facilities downstairs if there is a logjam!)
Holmfirth is a small market town, tucked into the foothills of the Pennines and about 5 miles from the centre of Huddersfield. The town is well known as the location for the popular TV series ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ and visitors take advantage of the classic Summer Wine tours around the area in a vintage bus. There are many excellent restaurants in Holmfirth (Indian, tapas, Italian, French) and the fabulous Picturedrome (www.picturedrome.net) – home to a range of concerts and tribute bands. Throughout the year there are many festivals - including Holmfirth Festival of Folk (early May); Holmfirth Film Festival (late May); Holmfirth Arts Festival (mid-June); Holmfirth Artweek (early July) and the Festival of Food in September. We are also 30 minutes drive from the award winning Yorkshire Sculpture Park ( www.ysp.co.uk) and 40 minutes from the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield (www.hepworthwakefield.org). The walking is varied and beautiful and it is possible to walk out of the door of our house and straight up into the hills.
  • Lovely stay, you won’t find better for the price.
