Vacation rentals with beach access in Shetland Islands

We had a fantastic time on Bressay, I'm very happy I chose this little island over the mainland, it was peaceful and quiet with breathtaking scenery and still very close to Lerwick & the big shops. The apartment itself was perfectly located within the island: a very short walking distance from the local café, shop & play park downhill - and a little longer, but lovely walk to isle of Noss uphill, ferry to the mainland wasn't too far either, around about 30-40 mins walk... Kim was incredibly nice and helpful offering us lifts & taking our luggage down to the ferry port on our last day! The apartment was perfect for our needs: lots of green area outside, lovely fresh air, beautiful surroundings, stunning views from the terrace, spacious rooms, comfortable bed & armchairs, lovely modern bathroom (++Shetland 🧼 Co toiletries 😍), compact well equipped modern kitchen. I'd love to return, thanks so much for everything Kim & Lindsay!

Brilliant place to stay with amazing views! The apartment was pristine and had everything we needed, and Kim was lovely and welcoming - even being super accommodating with a late check out to give us time to do the Bressay parkrun. Would highly reccomend!

With friendly, helpful hosts and a cosy, warm atmosphere, this one of the best places we’ve stayed. From the breathtaking views to the comfy and beautifully equipped accommodation with its warm and relaxing spa, Niki and Piet have created a true oasis of tranquility in a hectic world. While Shetland itself was even better than we’d hoped for, our trip was made truly special with our stay at Voortrekker.

I stayed at Heather and Gordon’s studio for a couple of days and could not have asked for a better place to stay in mainland Shetland. Close to Lerwick that you can get into town to get groceries or petrol but quiet enough that you still get that seaside feel. A 30min drive away from most places and a fantastic location if you fancy going for some long hikes in the mainland. The studio itself was so cozy and pristine and I couldn’t have felt more at home and comfortable! Heather and Gordon even gave me flexibility to check out later if needed. Could not recommend Heather and Gordon’s place enough! Thank you for a lovely stay!

I loved staying in the Weaving Shed studio - I loved its privacy and peacefulness. It is in a beautiful area and I was able to go to Eshaness twice to see the place in different weather. The nearby beach was also a delight. Thanks to all the facilities in the flat and a well-stocked shop just across the road I was able to be self-sufficient. NCDC staff were very responsive and the Northern Lights alert messages were an extra sweet touch - many thanks. I'd love to visit the place again, and as an artist I would use it for self-directed residency.

The cottage was warm and cosy on entering. It has everything you need and is full of character. It's an amazing find!

Voortrekker ranks as one of the top places I've ever stayed. Not only was the apartment very evidently thoughtfully handcrafted (half of the furniture is built-in) it was also very functional with everything well supplied, especially the kitchen. This was only made better by its location, with amazing views and perfectly positioned near the airport and for adventuring in any direction you'd wish. The spa is a fantastic addition. Lastly, Niki and Piet were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable hosts – plus they helped me out (twice!) when I had car trouble. As a woman travelling solo, the apartment struck the perfect balance of privacy/independence and security/safety. I highly recommend staying here!

This is a fantastic place to stay. Anne has thought of everything…even a pair of reading glasses. Anne and her family were very friendly but not intrusive. She offered good advice on where to go and what to see and knew a lot of people. She was extremely helpful when a taxi we had ordered failed to turn up….I don’t think that taxi firm will ever forget again where Anne’s place is! We had great weather whilst visiting and could not fault the property or amenities. Well done Anne, Aimee and Tommy we will recommend you to anyone who wants to visit the beautiful Shetland Islands

We had such an amazing stay at Jenny & Pete's! The home was so comfortable, with a really great kitchen set up and a fabulous shower (strong pressure and super hot!) and the most beautiful views over the hill side and cove below. Very convenient to Lerwick, right at a bus stop and less than 10 minutes from town. Jenny was also a really great host, flexible with our check in time and dropping off luggage early, and even helping us sort some car trouble at the end of the trip! Highly recommend!

Da Crubbit was the perfect holiday cottage. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Peaceful, with fabulous views. We have had an amazing 2 weeks. Many thanks for having us to stay. We are already looking forward to returning.

Lovely location, well equipped kitchen, fluffy white towels in bathrooms, elegant and comfortable living room with large windows and great views over harbour. Charming housekeeper with lots of useful information. We loved it.

A nice "chalet " suitable for 2, three at push. Very warm, if required and very quiet. Easy walking into Scalloway- just down the hill. Everything you need in the well equipped kitchen. I was over on business, it suited my needs perfectly.

Very well described and James is a very good host indeed. In future I’ll check availability here first when I visit Lerwick. Thanks!

My stay with Dave and Debbie for wool week was absolutely wonderful. They are so welcoming and have a beautiful home. Broonie and Wee Boy were also lovely! The house itself is in such a beautiful location - very peaceful and relaxing. The guest facilities were great with plenty of room to relax in the evenings and cook my dinners. The bedroom is very quiet and has a comfortable warm bed. Debbie’s breakfasts were wonderful and kept me going for several hours. This is by far the best Airbnb I have every stayed at. I had a lovely time and will definitely stay again the the future!

A clean, comfortable property in a stunning quiet location - seemingly in the middle of nowhere but an easy 18 minute drive into Lerwick. The host was exceptional, providing a lovely welcome pack (including wine, bread, cheese, etc), fresh flowers and even offering to do some shopping on our arrival. Helpful advice was given regarding the Up Helly Aa, allowing us to fully participate, and she sent literature to us in advance. Easy parking, plentiful hot water and heating, and lots of towels! Highly recommended!

The house is very lovely and really well equipped. Bethany is so responsive and available and helped us with every little thing we needed. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed for our young children, including decorating for Christmas. A lovely stay and exactly what we needed.

This was such a great place! thing was wonderful in giving suggestions of things to do, restaurants to eat at, and ways to make my trip memorable. Jane was an outstanding host, and had breakfast, and often times lunch or dinner ready throughout the day. Her and her husband were so lovely to talk to and spend time with. They introduced me to friends of theirs, and even invited me out for dinner with them. This was so nice since I was traveling alone. I felt like when I left I had many friends in Lerwick. It was such a special vacation for me!

Excellent location (Bressay). Very regular local ferries across to Lerwick. Bressay is stunning. Lindsay & Kim are excellent hosts + live on-site so always available if u have any queries. Flat we stayed in (Pettifirth) is perfect for couple, or two friends who don't mind sharing double-bed. All mod cons, very high-spec, v.good heating, v.good wifi for internet, fully equipped kitchenette inc dishwasher, tea/coffee/milk/condiments & cereal provided, lovely shower-room, toiletries provided, decent-sized wardrobe with plenty of hangers & two deep drawers, nice towels, dining table & two chairs, double-bed, two comfy armchairs, good TV, flat is spacious for 2 people, triple-aspect windows with stunning views. Communal areas also lovely & with the views. Lots of tourist info. Off-street parking. Ground-floor veranda. Outside seating & picnic/dining-table (all with views). Bressay stunning. Remember it is very rural (1 small shop) so you will need car. Flat is about 30 mins walk to ferry. X

The Bains Beach apartment was a perfect home from home for our Shetland stay. The views were irresistible and so many thoughtful touches that made it feel so homely and welcoming. A great location, easy nearby parking and we were very lucky to be able to get early access and later check out - that really helped with ferry timings.
