Founded in 1957, my grandfather, Eiichi Tanuchi, ran an inn called Aiwasho for the cultural development of Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. In order to continue to protect its history and traditions, his granddaughter, Kiushuko, reopened the inn under its original name in 2021. Built on the site of Ueno Castle, this inn is a traditional Japanese house with tatami mats on the floor. Please relax in one of the two Japanese-style rooms. The inn is located on a hill overlooking the city of Tanabe, so you can enjoy the morning sun, sunset, and night view. On a calm day, we recommend having tea in a wicker chair on the edge of the hinoki cypress wooden deck, which was made in the image of the moon viewing platform of the Katsura Imperial Villa. The newly installed bath and toilet are spacious and barrier-free, so you can bathe together or use them easily even if you need assistance. We installed popin.aladdin (lighting with projector) in one of the Japanese-style rooms. It projects on the sliding doors You can watch TV, music, movies, etc. Enjoy BGM on YouTube before you go out in the morning. My parents, Kisaku and Shuko Tanai (Japanese), live next to the house, so please let me know if you need anything.

This is a private house located next to the World Heritage site, Torikokujinja Shrine. The entire house is made of solid wood, and we strive to create a cozy space where you can relax and rest. You can feel the sound of the drums of the Torikokujinja Shrine and the four seasons up close. It is a 7-minute walk from JR Kii-Tanabe station, and is a convenient base for access to the Kumano Kodo, Shirahama Onsen, Adventure World, and many other places. < The charm of the Torikake Shrine > ・ There are 4 bedrooms, so you can enjoy it with multiple families, friends, clubs, circles, etc.　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　・ JR Kii-Tanabe Station and Kii-Tanabe Bus Stop are 7 minutes on foot from the station. ・ 2-minute walk to Torike Shrine. Nanki Shirahama Inn (one group only)

The entire house is rented to only one group at a time (the price will be added depending on the number of people). It can accommodate up to 8 people in a 16-tatami mat (2 rooms with 8 tatami mats each) living room and bedroom and a 6-tatami mat bedroom. Fully equipped with a bath, toilet, washing machine, kitchen, and fridge. Face and bath towels are included. Free WiFi. The room is on the second floor, and it is difficult for the neighbors to hear sound, so it is a perfect house for families with small children or those who want to spend time quietly. The area around the house is quiet with little traffic and few pedestrians.

Kumano Kodo 1 day 1 group limited, a house with a beautiful stream in front of the inn

There are no houses around and it's quiet. Recommended for those who value privacy! It is about a 10-minute drive to Hongu Taisha Shrine and about a 5-minute drive to Kumano Kodo Ukekawa and Kawayu Onsen, making it a perfect base for a trip to Kumano. In front of the house, you can enjoy playing in the river, barbecues, bonfires, insect collecting, bird watching, stargazing, mountain walking, and more. We also provide a kitchen and barbecue grill, so please bring only the ingredients. Relax with family and friends at this peaceful place to stay.

The Cottgae Kirihata is a one-bedroom house perfect for one or two guests for a relaxing stay. It is perfect as a base for a long road trip around Japan or the Kumano Kodo hiking. The owner has 15 years of experience as a wilderness guide in Hokkaido, experienced for trekking, fishing, canoeing and snowshoeing guide. I am currently enjoy outdoor activities in the Kii Peninsula in the green season and Hokkaido in the winter season. I am happy to coordinate and guide tours for guests.

Limited to one group per day, Guest House Agai is convenient for walking the Kumano Kodo and playing in the river. You can experience country life.

To reach it, climb about 50 steps (5 min) for a rewarding view. *Note: not suitable for those with limited mobility. There is no TV or clock—disconnect and relax. *Extra fee applies for 2+ guests. For safety, a motion-sensor camera is at the entrance; it only takes still photos when someone passes, never continuous video, ensuring privacy.

"Genki House", a house near Kumano Hongu-Taisha

It’s a house 8km from the Hongu Taisha. (about 15 minutes' drive) If you have a car it's more convenient, but if not I'll be happy to drive you to and from a bus stop or a tourism spot in Hongu area. My family run an organic farm, bakery, NPO offering long-stay for the youth, and an alternative school for children nearby. You'll have some loaves of bread from our bakery(^^)/ （If you don't eat bread please let me know beforehand)
