Monthly Rentals in The Doward

Decor is simple and clean and to a good standard. Hosts are amazing; Helen left incredible homemade flapjacks, which we still keep talking about and sourdough bread. One day, she's going to stop and guests are going to wonder where all the treats have gone. Both Helen and Graham were proactive in helping us settle down, without being intrusive and available 24/7. Remember you only have access to where the chains are in the garden (beyond is private property to others). Our dog didn't get this and made herself welcome at Helen's place. I would have liked to have had blinds / net curtains on all windows for privacy, else they can see into this place (not that they did). There are proper curtains to draw in bedrooms. Finally, Helen was extremely kind in extending our stay when requested. The views are amazing from property; so peaceful and just 5 mins drive or 10 to walk to river and I highly recommend it. No other houses can be seen from the place or are that close.

We loved our stay here. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed (for 2 people, a little one, and a small dog). It is in a great location for accessing the walking trails and the river with the pub 10 mins away. Susannah gave very clear instructions for finding it and how to work everything inside. Useful guide books, a few games, and a couple books are also available for guests. Would stay again.

Great place to stay, with much to see and do in and around. We came to give our grandson a Castle experience, and covered five in two days plus a river trip...We were blessed with fabulous weather and He had a blast! Everything in the accommodation was well thought out and comfortable, with rapid response to any questions. Very happy to recommend. Thank you Charlie.

What a wonderful gem of a cottage. About the cottage-: The lounge sofa is so so comfy and big to chill out on. The king bed in the main bedroom is so comfy too and with the peaceful tranquil setting, made for a great night’s sleep. Having the use of 2 bathrooms is also great. The absolute gem is the balcony - a great sun trap when having your morning coffee. We had mixed weather during our stay but those precious moments sitting on the balcony when the sun came out, was lovely. Even the dog loved it. Easy to find - although a narrow lane to the cottage- there are plenty of passing places so it’s not scary as we had a big SUV and the parking space opposite cottage, was easy to park our car. The communal gardens out the front are pretty and convenient for your dog. The location and scenery are superb— to walk out from your door. Highly recommend the Ye Ole Ferrie Inn (10 mins walk) on the same side. Thank you- we definitely want to return.
