Halmhuset - The Straw House

Our thatched house is probably the only "Halmhuset" that is rented as a vacation home in Denmark. It is breathable, made of clay and straw, and is sustainably supplied by heat pump and photovoltaics. In summer, the thick walls provide pleasant coolness, in winter it is cozy and warm, with a room height of up to 4 meters. A real feel-good place for up to 8 people, located at the gates of the city of Tønder, close to the Wadden Sea National Park and the islands of Sylt and Rømø.

From Humptrup, the North Sea is about 20 km away! The ideal starting point for day trips to the North Frisian islands and Halligen (e.g. Sylt, Föhr, Amrum, Hooge, Oland, Hamburger Hallig). The Nolde Museum is in the immediate vicinity and Denmark is only 3 km away.

The living room also offers great opportunities with its approx. 250 m2 with 3 bedrooms on the 1st floor. There is a bathroom and guest toilet on the ground floor. Located in the border country, there is ample opportunity to dive into history or take a trip to Flensburg.

Welcome to our terp in Waygaard near the lake Botschlott. The accommodation is a traditional thatched farmhouse flat with a view overlooking the lake, the surrounding meadows and the North Frisian marshes. It is ideal for nature lovers: you can canoe, cycle and watch the flocks of birds that use the partly protected lake as a migration and nesting site. The house was carefully restored with natural materials in 2025/2026

A quarter of an hour's drive from Flensburg and Aabenrade is a large and well-equipped vacation home with a large property in a rural area. The house has a spacious hallway, a bedroom with a double bed and electric fireplace, a bedroom with a double bed, storage space and a TV. Meals can be enjoyed in the large integrated sunroom with underfloor heating and panoramic views of the park-like garden.
