Views out to the Farne Islands where you can see countless sea birds - or stay put and watch the wildlife from the apartment. Near the coast with all its castles and beaches, and only 12 miles from Holy Island. Alnwick is only 14 miles away with the amazing castle and Gardens, also Barter Books.

This bright and airy penthouse apartment, set in the former Alnwick Brewery and Maltings, is my home and I’m delighted to share it with you as a base for exploring Alnwick and the surrounding countryside. Just a stone’s throw from Alnwick Castle and Hulne Park, the flat has everything you need to self-cater, with a large supermarket conveniently located opposite. If you’d prefer to eat out, Alnwick’s many restaurants, cafés and pubs are only a few minutes’ walk away.

Swinburne Castle

Swinburne Castle is perfectly situated within its own beautiful parkland and gardens. Traditionally decorated, parts of the house have tremendous history dating back to the 12th century. The east wing is extremely comfortable and private, and don't be perturbed by the stone steps leading down to the vaulted cellar. In the mornings you can look forward to a delicious breakfast in the formal dining room. There is ample parking and a tennis court you are welcome to use.
