Our country farm house is situated on 40 acres in the middle of hay fields lined with trees. The yard has a patio with some yard chairs, and a deck with bench. The house has central air conditioning. Private and quiet neighborhood. We are about 20 minutes from Giants Ridge (ski and golf), Duluth is only an hour away, we are close enough to the North Shore for a day trip of hiking, biking, and site seeing. Twenty minutes from the Zim Bog Bird Sanctuary. Bike trails are easily accessible.
“Grandpa's house is a short car ride away from many lakes such as ore be gone, Ely lake and Embarrass lake. The neighborhood is very quiet, surrounded by fields. The house itself was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The kitchen had basic ingredients and sufficient utensils. David was a very pleasant host to talk to and gave us good suggestions on what we could do. The house had a functional first aid kit which we used because of all the cuts we got under our feet from the lake. The house has an internet connection but don't count on it for anything that needs higher bandwidth (video streaming or video calls) . All in all, if you are looking for a calm quiet place with no one around you, look no further!”
Beautifully updated 1890s hand hewn log cabin.
“The perfect couples getaway! Everything about this cabin is perfect for a couple or a person just needing to get away for a few days. Simple, elegantly small, and quality workmanship on this old cabin. If you are a nature lover, what are you waiting for? Trails to hike and bike, Giant’s Ridge nearby for those golf, ski, mountain bike enthusiasts. The gold standard paved bike trail is literally outside the door and down the hill. The Mesabi Trail can’t be beat and there are shuttle services. If that isn’t enough, walk down and take a swim in Embarrass Lake or cast a line. Night time campfires with wood provided. Just what we needed. Will definitely come back.”
One of our favorite properties at Giants Ridge Resort, this 1BR/1bath condo is perfect for couples or a family in search of the quintessential northern Minnesota vacation experience!
“This place made for a fantastic 3-night mountain biking vacation for our family. Shawn's place was exactly as expected, clean, and well equipped. Shawn was communicative and attentive -- more so than most hosts. Being that we visited during COVID, there were a few a few details we want to share with future guests if you happen to be visiting while COVID restrictions are in place. The pool hours are more limited than we expected -- it closes at 5PM and the hot tub is completely closed as of mid-June 2020. Getting into the pool was not easy as you'll need a code. This would typically be provided in the Villa's Main Office; however, the office is locked and the lady inside does not open the door -- you'll need to call her. The kayak, paddle board, canoe rentals are open but you need to bring your own PFD. We didn't know this, so we ended up buying them up there. COVID restrictions aside, our overall visit was excellent. The mountain biking trails were beyond our expectations. We even paid a visit to the newly opened Redhead Mountain Bike Park in Chisholm, which was well worth it. All in all we only wish our stay was longer. Hoping to return again soon and we'll definitely choose one of Shawn's places again!”
