Top-rated things to do in Cottonwood Heights

Unique activities hosted by local experts vetted for quality

  • Sip, Snack, Stroll Salt Lake City
Walk downtown Salt Lake stopping at the best coffee shops, cafes and local hotspots for the best downtown has to offer. Have a fun Instagram worthy day of food, drinks and local culture along with tons of tips and suggestions for the rest of your trip. We will also use the local trax train to help you learn how to navigate the city using public transportation. In total we will spend about 3 to 4 hours together visiting some of the most well-known sites in the city such as Temple Square, Gallivan Plaza (one of the sites of the 2002 Olympic games) and Library Square as well as some local favorites such as the Pie Hole, and Ken Sanders Rare Books. Stopping at coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants based on your interests and food preferences. The best part about traveling with a local is that I can adjust to help create the best experience for the group.

  • Whiskey & History | SLC
This is approximately a 2.5 hour walking and tasting tour learning about Utah's distillation history from the mid 1800's to present day. This is both an indoor and outdoor experience. We meet at a designated corner in downtown Salt Lake City and learn of the history of Utah's distillation, then adjourn inside to our offices where we are presented a flight of local whiskies at our tasting table. After the tasting, the experience continues and we venture outside for the 8 block walking tour (35 minutes) of downtown Salt Lake City, where we show you the insiders view of the sights and whiskey history, finishing at one of Salt Lake's hottest pub with a final tasting of local Whiskey on us! Please note * final location subject to group size * experience starts and ends at a different location six blocks apart * tour takes place snow, rain or shine * Covid-19 Social Distancing rules at time of event are in full effect * must be 21 years of age and older for full experience * please bring a valid picture ID that is not expired

  • Mountain Meditation & Yoga
Start with a moderate hike into the breathtaking Utah mountains where we pass a lake and come to a beautiful clearing where I will guide you through a 50 min yoga and meditation session. You will then have some time to explore and enjoy the peaceful area before we make our way out of the canyon to enjoy the spectacular views of the valley. The hike is 1.8 miles round trip and about 500 ft of elevation gain. The entire experience should take 2.5-3 hours from start to finish.

  • Swim Inside A Utah Natural Spring Crater
We will start our journey up the canyon as we listen to some tunes and chat as we drive through an iconic Utah road. Once we get to the crater, we will go over some safety tips and enjoy a one hour dip in one of the coolest and most hidden gems in the world. (Water is a consistent 96 degrees. Not as hot as a hot-tub but warm enough to be relaxing) Once our dip in the crater is over, we will head back down to SLC and stop at THE BEST chocolate factory in the city (it is soooo good that they once had their own TV show) where we will drink the best hot (dark) chocolate your lips have ever tasted. Other things to note: Don't know how to swim? Don't worry, for safety reasons, everyone is required to wear a life jacket.

  • Private Tour of Utah's Dinosaurs
We'll begin with an in-depth tour of our Past Worlds gallery and end with a behind-the-scenes visit inside our Paleo Lab. In the gallery, we will talk about dinosaurs found in Utah (some known exclusively from our own collections) and explore the ecosystems and adaptations that make these animals so fascinating. Inside the Paleo Lab, we will get a sneak peek at the projects that our paleontology volunteers are working on and learn about the techniques used to prepare our most recent discoveries. The tour is for adults and teens 13 years or older. Teens 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum number of participants is 6. Admission is complementary with purchase of the experience. Admission fees cannot be deducted from the package price. Tour length ranges from approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours. Due to social distancing concerns, the Paleo Lab is currently closed, however an alternate experience has been created that simulates a lab environment. Per CDC guidelines, face coverings are recommended for those who are not fully vaccinated.
