Thanks so much for taking time to check out our guesthouse. Before you book we encourage you to PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS & READ THE ENTIRE LISTING DESCRIPTION & HOUSE RULES. We want to make sure that your stay meets your expectations. We live on-sight so if you decide to stay with us, please tell us a little about yourselves, the reason for your trip, and what you hope to accomplish while you are here when you send us a request or inquiry. This is a 750 sq. ft. suite on the 2nd floor of the detached pool house. One bedroom with queen size bed, living room with kitchenette, (no stove or oven but gas grill on the deck) and a luxurious bathroom with walk in shower and dual shower heads. The pull down attic stairs give you access to a quaint loft with a full size mattress that sleeps 2 children, or one adult. (we ask that the children be 10 & older in the loft for safety reasons) If you need more sleeping room, the couch converts into a queen size bed. The deck is a great place to read or enjoy a cup of coffee from the Keureg while you overlook the pool. There also is a propane Blackstone Griddle/Grill on the deck available for your use. The HVAC system was recently updated and improved over the summer to provide consistent comfort year round.
Hampton is a very small town, and is listed as one of the safest cities in Georgia. It is a quiet town 35 miles south of Atlanta. Occasionally, "The Walking Dead" films in Hampton and have even set up their base-camp across the street from us! Hampton recently began offering TWD tours. We are about 1.5 miles from the Atlanta Motor Speedway, so anything from Friday Night Drags, Thursday Thunder Legends Series or any of the many NASCAR Racing Experiences are just minutes away. We also have an award winning craft brewery, Jailhouse Brewery, just a mile away that offers tours throughout the week. We are approximately 20 miles from the "Porsche Experience" at the Porsche plant in Hapeville. Many find this to be a great stop off traveling to or from Florida as we are just under 6 miles off of I-75. We are a "distant suburb" of Atlanta. If you are coming to the area to enjoy Atlanta, please research the time & distance you will be traveling to reach the places you plan on visiting in Atlanta PRIOR TO BOOKING with us. For many, we are the perfect distance from Atlanta: close enough to get there in a reasonable amount of time but far enough away to avoid the challenges of a big city. For others, the drive in is more than they wanted and the end result is we get a bad "location" review. Please look at the map and understand where we are in relation to where you want to spend your time before you book as to avoid getting here and being disappointed. While we do not live in a subdivision and our home is located on 5 acres, we do have neighbors nearby.
  • David and Janet were great hosts, their guesthouse was the coziest, cleanest, most confortable Airbnb we have stayed at. Everything you can imagine they have, it is a hidden gem with a country feeling but very close to the interstate and Atlanta. Great place for families and couples, we look forward to come back very soon.

  • David & Janet have an amazing guesthouse & pool! They literally have a small petting zoo in their back yard (which, is it's own attraction), including a donkey, squirrel, chickens, goats, & a miniature horse. They are located about 30 miles from Atlanta & less than 5 minutes from the Atlanta Motor Speedway! We came for a quick work trip, but enjoyed our stay so much we are going to make plans to visit the area again!

  • The Fulton Guesthouse was incredible from start to finish. Their place was beautiful, comfortable and had a resort like feel. The outdoor amenities with the pool, pergola, hammock, outdoor lighting and landscapes were luxurious. And the carpet ball table was a unexpected surprise and huge hit with all! The guesthouse was ready for relaxation with comfortable beds, linens and the loft was a bonus for our boys! David & Janet are superhosts indeed! Their hospitality was off the chart. They gave us the full outdoor tour, introduced us to all their farm animals, and even had a a fire and s’mores ready for us at dusk. We had wonderful conversation and enjoyed our time visiting with them very much. Literally, could not have been any better! Look no further, this is the place to stay on your way to Disney or just for a quick retreat with a resort feel!

  • David and Janet are amazing hosts! They went out of their way to accommodate our large family and made us feel so welcomed. Their home is beautiful and so peaceful and everything is sparkling clean. The pool is amazing and we had the best time making memories!

  • David andJanet are special folks! Very hospitable, and caring! Their place is magical! They were very helpful and giving... we would stay here over and over again! Thank you guys so much for making our quick stop a great memory for our children, and us!

  • Such an understanding couple, we had a crazy mix-up before we even got to the location and they were super understanding and offered to help however they could. Thanks so much!!

  • David and Janet's retreat is a jewel: a piece of heaven. The house is beautiful and full of everything you could need, down to the smallest details. Welcoming, fresh, clean, calm, quiet, and peaceful. The pool is fantastic and so is the company of cats and dog. Goats, donkeys, and chickens are also on the property without being at all intrusive! David and Janet welcomed us with open arms into their house and were very helpful with tips and recommendations on places to go and to eat. Fun fun fun and very relaxing! Highly recommended! Grazie!

  • Wonderful home! Wonderful hosts! Amazing yard space with pool, patio, and hot tub. Home space is private and exceptionally clean, decorated nicely, and very comfortable. We will definitely be staying again.

  • John's place is what airBNB is all about, VALUE. Everything was awesome including John's communication. Thank you

  • The location of John's place is great. The building is a bit dated but the unit is incredibly clean and very secure. I had no problems getting into the unit and John was very responsive to any questions I asked.

  • John was a fantastic host! I had a colleague coming from Kenya and John went above and beyond to get him settled and make sure he was doing OK. The place is perfect and a great alternative to the expensive conference hotels.

One of the most Wish-Listed Airbnbs in the world, featured on Treehouse Masters, our magical treehouse built with antiques, lux beds, power, AC/Heat, marble bath, in a private bamboo forest, on a working farm. Watch llamas wander the forest; listen as roosters crow, yet in Atlanta. We book TV, movies, weddings, videos, photography for SPECIAL RATES--must have contract/insurance in advance! Check out Llama Farm Stay & Luxury Llama Cottage also on property. Website: alpacatreehouse. Dot. Com.
The Alpaca Treehouse is one of the most wish listed Airbnbs in the world, honored to be featured as an Ultimate Treehouse on Treehouse Master, episode found on the Animal Planet website. Hollywood frequents the treehouse. Featured in a Netflix dating show, ABC Primetime TV Show, "Kevin Probably Saves the World," 3 episodes of the VH1 show "Love & Hip Hop." A multitude of music videos filmed here (Trey Songz was a highlight), indie movies, Delta airlines, loads of commercial videography, still photography, intimate events, and weddings. Children over 12 only please. All photography and videography, ceremonies have special rates, contracts, set hours, and insurance and MUST BE scheduled in advance. Arrangements must be made PRIOR to your arrival. Failure to adhere to this policy WILL result in cancellation of your booking without refund. We don't allow parties in the tree house, but can handle small parties in the Bamboo Barn. Message for rates please. Also on the farm property, two beautifully designed and appointed brick cottages with views of the barn, llamas, and alpacas are on Airbnb and welcome kids of all ages. Llama Stay Farm Cottage sleeps 8 and is a large beautiful home. Likewise, Luxury Llama Cottage sleeps 5 and is also outfitted with antiques, oil paintings, and comfortable furniture. Links to these accommodations can be found at alpacatreehouse. Dot. Com. In our treehouse, you wake up on the queen size memory foam bed in a climate-controlled loft and peer out the large skylight at the swaying zen bamboo. Look to the Southern gable and take in the gorgeous jewel tones of the stained glass and see the bamboo through the French doors. Look to the forest floor to see grazing alpacas and llamas. We also have our beautiful and comfortable swinging rope bed (Bali bed) decked out with a slew of comfy pillows and a full sized mattress! The treehouse is built with all reclaimed architectural antiques, so staying here is like living a jewel box, an art project. Roosters crow nearby because you are on a working farm, in City of Atlanta. You are 15 feet above the forest floor, tucked into the middle of a 80- year old bamboo forest. And there are beautiful Bolivian suri alpacas (like a small llamas with dreadlocks) roaming: Paloma Piper, Caitlin Tastee, Elfie Fay Von Picklesprite, and Sunny Shevoun. We also have two gentle, calm llamas named Dali Llama and Llama Mia Figaro (Figgy) wandering about grazing. This treehouse was built with reclaimed architectural salvaged elements so you have the feeling you are in a historic room with the multi-colored walls of heart of pine beaded board. But the two skylights, with views of the bamboo canopy above, shed dappled light through the vaulted ceiling and remind you that's it's not the late eighteen hundreds. Some of the beaded board was reclaimed from Civil War era homes. The treehouse features several pieces of turn of the century stained glass, heart of pine floors from an old nineteen oh five church, Victorian French doors that open onto a wrap- around catwalk, a composting toilet, heat and air, and electrical throughout. You'll want to sip your coffee or a glass of wine on the large treehouse porch, held up by black locust trees, still sporting their bark. Or maybe you'll want to walk around the deck of the tree house to check out the bamboo forest or the alpacas and llamas. The tree house roof is clad in eighteen sixty-one South Georgia barn tin, so if it rains, you'll have a night of gentle percussive rhythm (we sprayed insulation foam so the treehouse is energy efficient and the roof not too loud). Our stairs are live-edge heart cedar and quite beautiful. The treehouse is wrapped in cedar trim and vintage heart of pine siding salvaged off an old Atlanta house (the porch, so it wasn't painted). We furnished our tree house in antiques and we have a composting toilet, a small fridge, a Keurig coffee maker, 3 gallons of potable water, and an antique enamelware wash basin to wash your face. The fully functional (running water) marble bathroom is a short walk down a rustic path through the bamboo forest. The marble bathroom boasts a gorgeous walk-in shower, a "no rules" toilet, and a vintage restored sink. Contact us if your also interested in having a wedding here (they are so magical), doing engagement photography, shooting music videos, hosting small events in the Bamboo Barn or shooting a television show. These have special rates and terms. But we are happy to accommodate!
The Neighborhood of East Atlanta The neighborhood is residential but we are a working farm, so you'll hear the crowing of roosters although somewhat muffled by the bamboo. But be mindful that you're in Atlanta and you may hear the occasional siren or traffic sounds during your stay. You'll also hear the birds that live in the bamboo, the humming of alpacas, and the quacking of the nearby ducks. There are a ton of delicious eateries and bars in East Atlanta Village: Argosy, Holy Taco, The Shed, We Suki Suki and the Buford HWY Collective of amazing food vendors, Thai-Sushi, Soba, Midway, Tomatillos, Grant Central Pizza, and The Elder Tree (Irish Pub). We also love Poor Hendrix up on Hosea L. Williams Drive.
  • My daughters and I had a wonderful time. It's the second time I've stayed there. Comfortable, quiet and peaceful, with lots of character. Seeing the baby Llama and Alpaca was a special treat.

  • Our time at this space was amazing! It's certainly an anniversary and time shared that we will never forget. The treehouse itself is breath taking, nothing that a photo could give justice to. The detail is such that you can see a lot of love, dedication, and thought went in to it. Now the bamboo Forest will leave you speechless, especially being a native of Atlanta and literally living not even 10 minutes up the road, we felt as though we had travelled miles across the world, able to escape to paradise! The animals just add to the whimsical feel if the grounds. They all obviously were used to humans and we're so comfortable while I their presence. Again all of the experience is so special, in order to feel the greatness of it all there are no words or pictures I could share to show just how phenomenal this place is, you must experience it for yourself! She was a dream for a host. She was helpful, informative, patient, kind, and such a delightful spirit.

  • The Treehouse was just as amazing as you would expect! I do not think I can recommend this place enough! The Treehouse was absolutely stunning with every little detail meticulously planned out to perfection. In addition to is in a bamboo forest....with alpacas...what else could you ask for! I am just sad that we couldn't stay longer as we had to catch a flight the next day.

  • Our visit to Kara’s treehouse was fantastic! We really enjoyed our time there. It was peaceful and private, and we enjoyed our morning tour of the farm. This is a must see! Thanks again!

  • Words can’t describe how amazing our stay was. If you are looking for something unique, romantic, and beautiful this should be your first choice. We will be back!

  • Great serene getaway. The treehouse is completely surrounded in a forest of bamboo which is definitely unique. Loved being able to feed the alpacas & Llamas.

  • Wonderful place to stay! Kara is great & we really enjoyed meeting her and learning about the property. We most definitely plan to stay again, next time it will be for more than one night!

  • this is truly an oasis in the urban jungle

Nestled near a private lake on a large land trust, Kilo Cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway, artist’s retreat, or quiet family vacation. *** Please read the listing description and reviews carefully before booking! Most of your questions will be answered below, including inquiries about the cabin’s distance from other destinations. Thanks you! ***
Fall asleep to the murmur of crickets and wake up to birdsong at Kilo Cabin. Our bohemian log home sits in the middle of sun-dappled woods – you’ll feel like you’re deep in the mountains, but we’re only 40 minutes from downtown Atlanta, 50 minutes from the airport, and a straight shot 15 minutes south of I-20. We have a wrap-around deck and a two-story screened porch. Cozy up in the comfy couches on either floor; cook in our bright, open kitchen; Netflix-and-chill with the Roku stick in the loft; or relax in the balcony hammock and watch the nearby lake shimmer through the treetops. Downstairs we have two private bedrooms. The first downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, dressing mirror and rocking chair, as well as both an empty dresser and closet for guest use. The second downstairs bedroom has a full bed, rocking chair, and direct access to the back porch. It also has empty drawer space and closet space for guest use. There is a full bath downstairs. In the spacious loft upstairs, there are two more full beds as well as a closet for guest use. There’s another full bath upstairs, as well as a TV and sitting area, a work space, and access to the second-floor screened porch. For groups of more than eight guests, we add a single camp cot upstairs and make up the downstairs sofa as a sleeping space for one more person. For groups larger than ten people, please inquire about brining your own floor mattresses. We are often able to make accommodations for quiet groups needing more space. The cabin has central heat and air conditioning. Our water is from a private well. We provide a Brita water pitcher for you, if you prefer filtration. The wood burning stove is not for guest use, and you may not build any outdoor fires. Please note that the cabin is not baby proofed. While the space is well appointed for guests, this is our home, so you will be sharing the space with some personal belongings. Our style (including everything from our furniture to our dishes) is bohemian and eclectic. Please don't book our space if you are afraid of the dark or remote areas. We are set very far back from the road, and you cannot see any other houses from the cabin. You might see and hear wildlife. The surrounding land is undeveloped – don't expect manicured lawns. Do look forward to lots of privacy, sunlight, and magic!
There are other families living at some distance through the woods, but it’s highly unlikely you’ll see anyone else during your stay. Historic, downtown Covington is 15 minutes away, with a quaint courthouse square, restaurants, bars, and shops. We are two minutes from gas stations and 10 minutes from a pharmacy and grocery. The cabin is at the end of a very, very long gravel driveway, with no streetlights or other buildings visible day or night. We are not, however, in the mountains, so there are no opportunities for challenging hikes. We are driving distance from several state parks, named in the listing’s “guidebook,” if you’re interested. For our approximate location, you can use "Rocky Plains Convenience Store" at 2310 Highway 212, Covington, GA 30016. This is within a mile of the cabin, and will help you determine how far we are from anywhere else you might wish to visit.
