Harding Lake State Recreation area is just 12 miles south down the Richardson Highway. The Salcha Ski trails are a short distance away and start from the parking lot of the Salcha Elementary School

We built the Rocky Top AirBnB as an Aurora-viewing, winter-loving house: its walls are a foot thick, with radiant floors heated by an environmentally-friendly vegetable-oil boiler. At night, watch the Aurora from bed or the large north-facing windows. The large couch is a comfortable place to watch the low winter sun traverse the mountains to the south during the day.
