With wide, open views out to the Isle of Rum, life in Sweeney's bothy is cosy, simple and completely relaxing. The bothy has everything you need - a wood burning stove, a small but well equipped kitchen, a super-comfy double bed, a table, an armchair and a library snug with an eclectic mix of fiction and non-fiction, maps and books about Eigg. Sweeney's Bothy sits beneath the cliffs of Cleadale in the north east of the Isle of Eigg, a community owned island with spectacular landscapes and abundant wildlife. Climb to the top of the incredible and unique Sgurr of Eigg for truly fantastic views. Paddle or swim off the magical Singing Sands or in Laig Bay. Then return to Sweeney's, eat and sleep well. Perfection.
“For anyone looking to connect back to the simple life - Sweeny’s Bothy is the place! such a delight. Wonderful location. Everything is provided for to make your stay most memorable on Eigg! Loved the stove, you can get couried up into the reading corner - literally spend hours there! I went to Sweeny’s to get my head around a current Art project- I think I found a hidden gem, I’ll be back. Just being there helped my flow. Eigg is tranquil, with so much to see around ever corner. Sunsets and views where incredible. There is so much to find out about the island history, the library is a great extra to an already well thought out space. Did I mention the outdoor shower!! It’s great. A trip here to Sweeny’s will be brilliant in every way.”

“We enjoyed a one night stay here on a subzero February night. Alex was so kind and welcoming when we arrived, coming out to meet us in the dark and getting the fire going in no time, which was very much appreciated! The space was actually a bit better equipped than we expected, and although it's very basic we had everything we needed for the night to cook, relax and keep warm. We imagined how dreamy it would be here in spring/summer when it's a wee bit warmer... A lovely peaceful stay.”
The cottage was fully refurbished in 2017. It is a pretty end of terrace house with an interesting layout. Ideal for up to three couples - regardless of race, creed, sexual orientation etc. The most prominent feature from a holiday-maker's point of view is its central location within a minute's walk to the city centre yet in a secluded corner of the city. This also has advantages for professionals with work in Inverness
“We were 2 couples and really enjoyed staying at Cherry Tree. Comfortable and all we needed there. The garden was a special surprise w all the flowers. We LOVED the location for both access to walk to close very good restaurants and shopping, also the great grocery next door as well as the bakery and the deli! Getting out of town was very easy too. We hope to comeback.”
