“This was our second trip to this little slice of heaven and we are already talking about our next one. If you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful and just altogether amazing getaway please don't look any further. You will be entertained by the wildlife, the trails through the woods, the beautiful lake (whether on the dock or on the pontoon), the amazing hot tub under the stars......I mean I could go on and on as to why we highly rate this place and why we don't hesitate to tell our friends about it. Just an amazing experience that we will be repeating every year at the minimum!”
*Completely remodeled in 2018, this cabin has 130 feet of direct frontage on the Snake River. Gorgeous wooded acreage gives privacy and the up north feeling, yet is less than 1 hour from Minneapolis, and 10 minutes from historic Pine City, a great place to shop and grab a bite to eat. Use our kayaks or tubes to float down to the St. Croix River, or hang a fishing line out and see what happens!
“Great location and lot. Such a cute cabin! One side of the lot provided a good amount of space for our kids to run around and burn off energy, which was awesome! The neighborhood was pretty quiet during the week which allowed for some great walks and bike rides on the road. We really appreciated access to the water toys (canoe and kayak). We also appreciated the very detailed cabin guide! Note to travelers - we found it helpful to bring our own washcloths, hand towels, and dish towels. The description mentioned that only bath towels are provided, which is accurate. We traveled with three kids, so we always tend to travel with extra towels! The only thing we desired a bit more was additional storage for food and personal items. Bedrooms - There was some drawer space, but some drawers in the dressers were hard to open, so we kept stuff in suitcases. Probably not an issue for some travelers - just a bit more difficult to navigate around bags with a family of five. It was helpful to have a coat rack on the river bedroom door - a similar accessory could be helpful in the back bedroom. Kitchen - we kept our dry goods in a bin we brought as counter space was limited. Definitely not a deal breaker, just a heads up to other guests.”
Beautiful house built in 1912, refurbished back close to its original glory with up to date kitchen. It was the 2nd house built in Askov for the banker. Original pocket doors and trim put back in the house. I still have minor renovations to do such as cleaning the trim and pockets doors, and finishing the 3 season porch. If your looking for a stay closer to Duluth, please check out my Savanna Retreat in Floodwood, MN. Please note it's $25 per person per night after the first 2 guests
“We found ourselves unexpectedly needing a place to stay outside of the Twin Cities area. Normally I like to do lots of research and take my time in choosing a rental, but we were in a hurry. Brenda answered my questions so quickly, allowing us to book our stay and check-in on the same day! The home is very spacious and there are interesting things to do in the area. We thought it was a great value for what we paid. My fiancé was leery of Airbnb stays for years so this was his first experience with one - thankfully, he's now onboard with using Airbnb for our future travels thanks to our wonderful stay at Brenda's Banning Manor! We'd be very interested in visiting again, especially once the movie theatre room addition is complete.”
