Riff Cottage was by far the best holiday rental we have ever stayed in - quiet, warm, comfortable, spacious, clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated. There are wonderful views to the farmyard and the firth and hills beyond. Greig and Lesley were the perfect hosts, quickly responsive when we needed help, friendly when we met them around the farm but otherwise unobtrusive. The location is perfect for accessing the nearby neolithic sites and nature reserves and the shop is Finstown is a short drive away. We much appreciated the ample welcome pack. We thoroughly recommend a stay at Riff Cottage.

We had a great stay at this cottage in Stromness. The accommodation was equipped with everything we needed and was lovely and clean. We enjoyed the quiet location and watching the wildlife from the windows. This was a great base for exploring Orkney. We are looking forward to returning one day.

We absolutely loved our stay, the cottage was everything we wanted and looked for. Evelyn is a fantastic host and provides an amazing cottage to stay in. Immaculate, peaceful and the best location, only a few minutes from Stromness. We will be back.

A great place to stay for our mixed group of adults and children. The house was warm on arrival and very welcoming. We spent so much time in the kitchen / Dining room cooking meals and playing board games.

What an absolute delight it was to stay in this quirky yet soul-filled Kirk. Treasures of life and experiences fill the Kirk with richness, and the celebration of curiosity and curiosity. Everything was very clean. The kitchen was so well equipped. There was nothing else we needed. We had such an incredible time at the Kirk and wished we had booked for longer than our five night stay. Absolutely LOVED staying here!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Amazing house with ample space for the 6 of us. Lovely surroundings. Peaceful. George provides logs & charcoal for the bbq & fire pit which was great! There’s also 6 folding camp chairs which you are free to use - they came in handy.! There’s outdoor seating & also a communal garden in addition to your own private garden space. The house was clean & comfy. Games room was a hit - we got in some darts practice which was a laugh & there was plenty time spent on the pool table too! All bedrooms are en-suite with one bedroom downstairs & 3 upstairs. Living room is large with 3 sofas. We definitely had loads of space. There was milk & butter in the fridge in addition to a lovely welcome pack of locally produced goods & breakfast cereals. George came to introduce himself & even gave us a wee tour of the neighbouring farm so we could see & hold the beautiful lambs.. really enjoyed our stay.

I booked on behalf of a team of three engineers and they had an amazing stay. Sharon was lovely host, so helpful, accommodating and friendly plus easy to communicate with. The house is the perfect home from home with everything you can need, clean and cosy - great parking and WiFi and fully equipped in every way. We will definitely be rebooking and recommend to others 😊 thanks again Sharon.

We had a truly wonderful stay at this home in Orkney. The views over the ocean were absolutely stunning—we spent hours just watching the changing light and sea from the comfort of the house. The home itself was spotlessly clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed, including all basic kitchen essentials. The hosts went above and beyond: they left us fresh bread and butter, and even a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers to welcome us. A special highlight of our trip was seeing a calf being born right outside the kitchen window—a magical, unexpected experience. The location, the home, and the incredible hospitality made this one of our favorite stays. 100% satisfied, and we would return in a heartbeat.

Spent a wonderful week at Nigel's bothy. The view was spectacular and was a joy to wake up to every morning. The bothy was as described and felt homely and special. It was clean, dog friendly and equipped with lovely local art and a good selection of books. Perfect as a base to explore Orkney, not too far from anywhere, and also a good place just to relax and hang out. We would be happy to return.

Really homely stay. Great for dogs with a big garden. Great kitchen and living room spaces, comfortable and with what you need (note no washing machine). Irene left detailed instructions for the quirks of the house. Great location for all the main attractions of the west mainland

This was our second time staying at this property and we hope to be back again. The location is just fabulous- right on the beach which our dog loved! The property is basic but very clean, welcoming and comfortable.

Stayed for 4 nights exploring Orkney. Anushka was friendly, welcoming and very responsive. Nice welcome pack - tea,coffee, cereals etc. Just what you need after a long day's travelling. 5 mins to 3 supermarkets and 10 to tourist office(helpful) and bus station. I used public transport to explore - incl ferries and it was challenging - so plan VERY carefully! Anushka has a very useful information file - incl timetables as well as general visitor advice. The accommodation isn't plush - but the price is good and I found it comfortable and well equipped. The heating system is unusual - but it works fine and there are good instructions. The weather has quite a bearing on your activities in Orkney - good foul weather gear is pretty much indispensable. One last thing - if you Google the address, it gives you the wrong side of the road! It's the black door opposite . And the bedroom is at the back - not beside the road - so you'll sleep fine. Happy to recommend.

Absolutely amazing. Beautiful view of the beach and surrounding area. We got lucky and saw the northern lights! The place was super cozy. Loved the extra effort the hosts put in to make sure we had everything we needed, which included a dog bed, doggy treats and board games. The Christmas tree and bottle of Prosecco were a much appreciated bonus. I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends.

This is a really unique stay and I spent a good part of my time there looking out at sea wondering when I would next be able to come back. So that should tell you how much I liked it! It’s at a lighthouse, so as you would expect, it’s at the end of a long road (which is very bumpy in places!). Then you get to the cosy house, with a wood fire, and well stocked kitchen with welcome treats. Alan is very friendly as are the dogs and the chickens! My child loved feeding them every morning. The fresh farm eggs were such a treat. Cantick Head itself is stunning and we loved being in the hot tub and sauna. Note to other guests- all these are wood powered so stock up on firewood before you arrive (you can buy bags at the shop next to the Lyness ferry). My mum took one of the bikes out and we all enjoyed walking the coastline. This is a special stay, don’t hesitate to book!

Our stay at the hen hoose was excellent, the location was great and we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing weekend. Yvonne was very helpful, supplying a BBQ on request, letting us know where we could charcoal and checking we had settled in. Check in and check out was super easy and stress free. We’ll be back!

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful setting. We appreciated all the special touches - including the kettle pre boiled ready for arrival and the bottle of fizz! Kitchen brilliantly stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Marston Cabin is immaculately presented and a lovely place to come back to after a day in the Sanday fresh air. The homemade loaf of bread and cakes were much appreciated. It was very well equipped with everything you needed and the sitting area and the beds were very comfortable. Thank you. It was a lovely stay.

My daughter (3) and I spent 2 nights for my 30th We couldn’t have asked for more , the cabin was immaculate and well designed with plenty of space . The views were stunning the cabin was warm and the hosts were great the cupcakes eggs and bread were lovely . We found the hot tub was a lovely touch after spending our time sailing and surfing I only wish we’d been able to stay longer We will definitely be back as soon as we can
