Munroe Meadows lies in the heart of munroeisland with well furnished and decorated bedrooms with tasty homely food, friendly host. Canoing through the small waterways is the main attraction. This homestay lies in the very calm and peacefull atmosphere with a beautiful garden.
“Munroe is a silent island slowly catching the eye of travel and tourism industry. Though there is a bundle of commercialized resorts in the nearby vicinity, Ajith's homestay didn't miss to catch my attention for all that was being offered for a really great value. Being on a bike cruise, the unexpected was very obvious. Ended up checking in really late at night and found Ajith and his wife waiting for my arrival to ensure the smoothest check-in experience. The room was spotless and very organized, and assured comfort and coziness of a homestay but with uninterrupted privacy. Ajith arranged for me a canoeing your to one of the most beautiful and not so crowded sunrise points, led a tour to a cashew factory nearby, and arranged for me one of the best experiences of a Kerala Ayurvedic spa. Evening times were best spent with Ajith while doing the island tour and watching the sunset from a rare view point which isn't known to many. Must I mention that Ajith possibly knows every small corner of the island and is a great talker when it comes to Kerala's culture and traditions. Apart from being an amazing host, he can surely help you curate your iternary. Ajith's wife is a master-chef when it comes to local cuisine. Stay there for a day, and she will not miss to serve you with the best of your likes from the next day. Brilliant home-cooked seafood - the warmth of a homely touch definitely stole my heart away. Before I close the review, here is what you should expect - seek guidance from Ajith during or before arrival and hitting the right place won't be a difficult deal. It is in the middle of many houses around and far from commercial setups - deliberately so to give you a real experience of a homestay. Ideally I would recommend this place - if you wish to enjoy idle life in Kerala with minimal activities and nature walks and not for the folks who would keep running all around with no moment to pause and appreciate a silence. If you're with to set this up as a base location to see the places around, you need to plan this ahead of time with Ajith's inputs. For a nearby commute, Ajith has a few bicycles placed at his homestay. So don't think twice - if a Kerala homestay + Munroe + Privacy + Idle vacation is on your mind. All the very best to Ajith and his wife. I look forward to revisiting with my wife as promised - hopefully pretty soon.”

“The stay was very comfortable. The host was very helpful in guiding as to where to find things or how to get around. The stay is close to shops and eateries and the bus service into main Kollam, ferries and beach is very regular so it's easy to get around. It is in a quiet neighbourhood and the backwaters are at the end of the road. In wandering around I can only say how friendly the people in the neighbourhood have been. A great relaxing place after some city travels. (You can also have alternative therapies if you so wish!)”
Tucked away in a little village in Varkala, Villa Akasa is a charming home-stay and just a few minutes walk from a beautiful, untouched beach. We have a total 5 exclusive rooms with "Amrith" being one of them. We have a great team to make your stay comfortable; one of them is Yakko - our lovely dog who is friendly and loved by all who come stay with us. We know what it’s like to live in paradise in God’s Own Country – it’s that amazing experience that we want to share with you.
“Shama's place is an absolute haven of calm. The location is 5 minutes from a pretty deserted local beach that is lovely to walk to past a mosque and a temple, though swimming can be rough with the waves. The breakfasts are legendary and varied, the staff are extremely welcoming and the rooms are beautiful, clean and a wonderful base. The cliff area is a sweaty 25 minute walk away, but there are numerous other hotels within 5 minutes walk where you can get food at lunchtime or evenings. Shama also provides tasty lunches and dinners if needed, at extra cost. We stayed as Covid-19 started to bite hard in Varkala, and Shama was a real sweetie. We felt welcome and cared for with genuine warmth. Stay here, especially if you want somewhere quiet and restful away from the crowds.”
