“Ruby's Rest is a sweet, comfortable, squeaky clean cottage. They share a tremendous library of books and the most pleasant porch I enjoyed sitting on under the shade of a huge, beautiful magnolia tree. Peaceful setting that is close to all the best conveniences of Trail Town. Damascus! Great relaxing vibe here! Much appreciated”
The Konnarock Homestead is located in the heart of The Jefferson National Forest. Guests can easily visit three beautiful recreation areas (including the two highest peaks in Virgina): Grayson Highlands State Park, Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, and Whitetop Mountain. The area provides many beautiful and exciting experiences such as biking the Creeper Trail (2 bikes provided), hiking the AT and many other trails, and much more!
“We were in the area to hike and Molly's place was very convenient to Grayson Highlands and Damascus, VA. Beautiful view of a mountain from the front porch, and you can hear a nearby stream. Though we weren't biking, it's close to the Virginia Creeper Trail, too. Place was clean and comfortable and had nice touches, including Roku. The family also owns the pottery up the road. That is worth a visit. Family is very nice. We plan to return.”
Entirely renovated, this charming cottage is right on Laurel Creek (trout!) in the friendly community of Konnarock located between Damascus and Whitetop Mountain. Enjoy yourself on the massive deck and wave to the locals as they pass by or take a stroll to the stream and sit in one of the relaxing sitting areas. A well stocked community store is within walking distance for anything you may need during your stay. The owners live one half mile away and are available for anything you may need.
“Our stay at this Airbnb in Damascus exceeded our expectations. When I️ messaged about anything extra that we may need to bring for our stay, the owner promptly responded, "All you need are your clothes and food." She wasn't kidding. We've stayed at many Airbnb and VRBO rentals and this one was top notch. The pictures are adorable, but it really doesn't do the place justice or even convey the outdoor setting or feel of the cottage. The cottage is spacious and every detail inside and out was thought through with care. It is obvious that this cottage is a labor of love and the owners truly want to offer a better than "home away from home" experience. Every room is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The bedding was comfortable, clean and the rooms bright and airy. The bathrooms had a nice selection of soaps and shampoos, extra toilet paper, and even bandaids. The kitchen was FULLY stocked with clean, brand new appliances, and we found everything we were looking for when making meals for 2 families. There is an adorable coffee/tea set-up in the kitchen, with beautiful handmade mugs (Note the pottery business cards to the right of the sink. I️ didn't notice them until we were packing up on Sunday or I️ would have bought a set). There were even snacks on the table and homemade cookies on the counter - all the finishing touches. The deck is a great place for relaxing and flows perfectly from the kitchen. It was so nice to sit and listen to the water babbling in the creek when sitting outside. It was extremely clean, something that is really important to us. Another thing we found so convenient, and the kids loved, was the convenience store across the street. They sell a little bit of everything, and make food fresh to order. They were so friendly and the food was great. Our 3 teens made multiple trips there for burgers, sausage/egg biscuits, and cheese fries. We did not have cell reception, but the wifi worked great, and allowed us to text, call and FaceTime through our phones and surf the web on our laptops. It wasn't a hindrance at all. The location was great - halfway between Damacus and White Top. Friday, we rode bikes on the first half of the Virginia Creeper Trail. I️t wasn't crowded and we were able to really enjoy the trail. Saturday, we hiked in the Grayson Highlands State Park and saw the wild ponies. It was a bucket list experience for sure. Coming back to the cottage, after each day's adventure, was a real treat and worked as the perfect home base. We'd love to come back and re-live the whole experience next fall. Thank you for an excellent experience and providing a perfect setting to make memories that will last a lifetime!”
