“Thank you very much! It was a great experience. The surrounding environment is very comfortable, we can see the stars at night, very quiet. The house is tasteful, the garden is beautiful and exquisite. The room was clean and the bedsheets were patterned Chinese tatoo. My son also had a good time here, feeding sheeps, bulls, alpacas and so on. Anne-Marie is also talkative, friendly. She and her husband John were pleasant to communicate with us! Great experience.”
Bienvenuti ! "Lake View" is a beautiful and spacious modern one bedroom self-contained guesthouse that I have always dreamt of creating since I first found this wonderful location. My property is situated on the shores of Lake Cartcarrong midway between the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians. I speak Italian and French with an Italian accent! There is one horse and one whippet on the property and numerous species of native wildlife. The accommodation is light, private, spacious and comfortable.
“My partner and I had the opportunity to stay at Yvie's place for 3 nights in lieu of our yearly 'pilgrimage' drive to the ocean. Yvie's place is located in an idyllic nature setting in a quiet neighbourhood. Her place is nestled right next to the lake (which is primarily used for boating and fishing) and surrounded by a lush landscaped garden which attracts bird-life. With a car, it takes a little under 25 minutes to drive to the neighbouring town/shop areas of Warrnambool and Port Fairy. This was perfect for us, as we wanted to stay somewhere that was more quiet and in nature, but was also not too far away from the town/shops and beach. I especially enjoyed visiting the Port Fairy Sunday market (one of Yvie's recommendations), where I got to pick up lots of fresh produce to cook with (it can be a bit difficult to find vegan-friendly eateries that don't just subtract ingredients). My partner and I also loved exploring the Warrnambool marine sanctuary and Tower Hill nature areas and took every opportunity we could to get in our ocean dips! Yvie was lovely to communicate with, both online and in-person. We were so appreciative of the amount of thought and care she put into the property and our lodging experience. The place was beautifully decorated, and was more bright and airy than I had expected. This gave a great sense of space to relax (I especially loved the high ceilings!). Upon arrival, we were greeted with fresh flowers, fragrances of cinnamon and lavender, beautiful decorative antique furniture/touches and horse motifs, and thoughtful consumable amenities (e.g. breakfast foods, fruit, bathroom soaps, etc). It was also so sweet to see her whippet, Layla, and her horse bringing extra life to the grounds. We only wish we had more time to talk with Yvie about our shared interests during our short stay! Highly recommend staying at Yvie's place if you have access to a car. We came away from Yvie's place feeling well rested and rejuvenated for the year ahead.”
Overlooking the Southern Ocean, Tower Hill Farm Stay (Port Fairy) is an Alpaca Stud, settled in an ideal spot to rest and enjoy a farm holiday. Nearby Killarney beach and Port Fairy are perfect for families, or those chasing a wave. Nestled on western rim of the crater, overlooking the lake and Southern Ocean, sightseeing's a must! As with all farms, the owner lives on site and provides a wonderful cooked breakfast, along with sight seeing and interaction with the alpacas and other farm animals
“Nicky’s house is situated at a very good location right next to the tower hill crater lake and lots of wildlife keeps paying a visit near the fence just across her backyard. We saw kangaroos, emus and lots of birds. We also got a chance to go feed the chickens and see the alpacas and the donkey. This is a quintessential “off the beaten track” countryside experience on a farm run by a very lovely host. We felt right at home as she let us use the kitchen and living room and she did have some pretty fresh eggs from her hens as well as everything we needed for our breakfast. She even went and bought us some fruits and veggies coz we were vegetarians. Our kids loved playing with the dog Jessie and the Lorikeet Charlie. A unique experience for them.”
