“We are so glad that we chose to stay at Collette's place for the second time. Cozy stylish house, lovely hosts and a happy dog. Everyone and everything was really welcoming. We enjoyed stargazing on verandah, long walks along Murray River and other local experiences. Definitely will be back again 😊”
Oak Dene is a unique and historic building. It was built in 1908 for Dr and Mrs John Wight as a family home and surgery by his eminent architect brother, Gerard Wight. The house is built entirely of ripple iron, inside and out. It is encircled by deep verandas, giving it a shaded, private quality that is enhanced by its setting in lawns and trees. Our home is a restful, retreat-like place that has welcomed guests for 110 years. We invite you to share in this tradition.
“This was a real treat - such a beautiful old home that has been lovingly and tastefully restored and decorated by a heritage architect and the attention to detail and respect for design shows. The garden is also magnificently planned and kept. Gillian is a fantastic host, making sure we were comfortable and she had prepared a list of activities in the area for us as well. The beds were super comfortable and the lovely drapes kept the bedrooms dark for a guaranteed sleep in. Other lovely touches included fresh flower arrangements - probably from the garden - big plush bath towels, lovely kitchenware and fantastic books to enjoy. All in all a truly lovely, relaxing experience.”
