The bure was a great private getaway in the Yasawas. The room was as photographed, keep in mind it is a simple "resort" so your bathroom is going to be dated/simple compared to standard resorts in the US or elsewhere. The resort will pick you up in a small metal boat, you may want to bring a hard-sided suitcase rather than fabric/soft to avoid things from getting wet if it is raining. The meals were simple, we had one regular and one no-fish diet request and they were able to accommodate us. Most drinks in the "bar" were reasonably priced at $3-4 USD so be sure to bring cash, there is essentially no where else on the island to buy drinks/snacks. The beachfront area had some great snorkeling off to the right, and we would happily visit again. Be sure you bring bug-spray, the bugs are going to find your skin during breakfast and dinner. We just wish there was warm water (the naturally warm water wasn't as warm as we would like for showers, especially getting the bug spray off at night).

The perfect place if you’re looking for an authentic Fijian experience. We felt like part of the family, we had a great time with everyone, helped them build a shelter in front of the house, went to church, played volleyball with the people from the village, participated to the kava ceremony, everyone was welcoming and happy to share about there culture and lifestyle. The food was good and generous. After having stayed in 3 other homestays, I can definitely say that this one was the most authentic/traditional ☺️ Thank you to Illy and her beautiful family again, for welcoming us in Gunu
