Places to stay in Brittas Bay

Places to stay in Brittas Bay
This is a spacious room with beautiful woodland and sea views. The house is set in the middle of the farm with green fields all around. 5 miles from Brittas Bay, 15 miles to Glendalough, it is a perfect base to experience the magic of County Wicklow with the added entertainment of the general hustle and bustle of farm life.
Springfarm is a working organic sheep farm set in beautiful rural surroundings with amazing walks available without ever going onto a road.
We are near some beautiful beaches, the Wicklow mountains and historical Glendalough. Also closer to the farm is the beautiful vale of Avoca and Mount Usher Gardens.
  • You need to spend at least three days here to even begin to explore all special places in this “Garden of Ireland “. Selena’s place is the perfect location with so many attractions within easy reach. We were warmly welcomed by Selena and her family. These peoples are kind and earthy with that genuine Irish instinct for hospitality. Stephen

  • We loved it at Selena and Alex' place. They are lovely people and very friendly hosts. It is perfect if you like to see the true rural life and like to meet their animals as well :).

  • Selena and her husband were very warm and authentic. We had nice conversations, a cozy bed and a rich and delicious breakfast. The two own a great farm in an absolutely quiet environment.

  • Expect a very friendly and caring family on this day to day working farm with chickens, sheep, dogs and cats. We really love animals so this was a perfect place. Breakfast was wonderful and great conversation.

  • You will not be disappointed if you stay here. Such a cute cottage away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Location was close to many hiking trails and the scenery was amazing! You’ll miss out if you don’t book with Selena!!!

    Charsie2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The farm of Selena and Alex is a perfect place to switch off, warm up next to the warm oven in rainy weather and go on great trips. All animals are very tame and trusting - you are greeted with love and get your money's worth when cuddling. The fields are what you would imagine Ireland to be, and even in February there were cute lambs. The equipment leaves nothing to be desired - you can borrow shoes on site to explore the farm. Communication works great - that's why it can be recommended without any restrictions!

    Irina2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Selena was great about communicating and had the cutest little cottage room for us to stay in. Fire was nice, but we had such cold days and being out all day it was a bit hard to keep it as warm as we would’ve liked. Although Selena kept heated blankets on the beds and lots of wood to stock up the fire so we managed just fine once we got it up and roaring! We definitely had a good time exploring Wicklow, hiking, and having a can of Guinness while hanging out by the fire at night. Definitely worth the experience if you want to enjoy the real farmland of Ireland. (I really loved feeding the chickens and ducks) :)

    Allison2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for “rustic”, as I was, this is the perfect place for you.

    Kam2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing opportunity! A chance to really work on a farm was a dream for this city girl. The cottage was very comfortable and quiet. Lots of places right on the farm to walk and explore. Hosts were great and offered lots of info regarding the area and things to do.

    Denise2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • SpringFarm is a beautiful and idyllic working farm which considering being located in the rural Irish countryside is only a 10 minute drive from the nearest motorway. The accommodation itself is a 3 roomed traditional cottage with a bedroom, bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen/dinning room which hosts an amazing little log burner fire. Awaiting you is an information book pertaining to the farm and things to do and see in the area as well as pans, cutlery and condiments. The hosts Alex and Selena are absolutely brilliant; despite leaving you to come and go and explore as you please they are always happy to help and assist in any way they can. We felt very comfortable and at home here we did also have some car issues whilst we were over here and they literally bent over backwards to do everything they could to help us out. No areas of the farm were off limits we had a lot of fun venturing through the surrounding fields taking in the breathtaking countryside and meeting all the animals along the way. Long story short this is a fantastic little place to stay for anybody who is looking to enjoy and explore the true countryside. Thank you so much for having us we are very much hoping to come out and stay with you again soon 😁

    Nicole2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great sheep farm experience with welcoming hosts. The fire was lit when we arrived and there was a great atmosphere in the cottage. All the amenities we needed were there, and we felt very lucky to see the buildings and livestock of a working farm. Way better than a clinical hotel stay. A highlight for us was a tasty cooked breakfast which included black pudding, fresh duck eggs and bacon with the hosts in the farmhouse kitchen. Already missed Selena and Alex’ conversaion while we drove away. Highly recommend this place.

It’s an ideal getaway retreat in a beautiful and accessible area of Wicklow. Only 4 minutes from Jack Whites Inn & Restaurant and only 10 min drive to Blainroe Golf Club and the European Club for the Keen Golfer. The beauty of the Garden of Ireland is on our doorstep here just waiting to be explored .
The site is located on our property which is very secure and surrounded by trees and security gates. We also have our local shop directly beside us which also has a deli counter and all the basic shop needs with a filling station attached. The surrounding area boasts a beautiful countyside located only 5 mins to Kilmacurragh Botanical Gardens and 10 mins to Avoca village, (the famous Avoca Handweavers is a must to Visit and their coffee shop and food area is scrumptious !!) There are beautiful picnic areas close by and I will advise you on what are the main events and festivals that are on at the time. Wicklow is a wonderful place for the guest /family who just want time out or the more adventureous who want to track the hills of Glendalough or Avondale. We have a beautiful garden area which is part of the site and where you can barbecue and sit outside to enjoy the day in your own private area. The area has raised flower beds which I am just finishing out which will be beautiful to admire over the summer. The apartment was large and had absolutely everything that we needed for a lovely break away. There is a washing machine and a separate dryer also a microwave oven, plus a full oven and hob too. There was a flat screen TV with free to air satellite UK TV channels. The place was very clean. The hosts were so nice and kind and helpful. They even offered to drive us to the local Pub. • Iadore Farm is the perfect place to stay for a relaxing break away! Ashling our host was amazing throughout our stay and provided not only a beautifully prepared continental breakfast each morning but went that extra mile with her kindness. She would drop us off into town or to pub restaurants we wanted to go and was friendly, talkative and helpful with giving us advice on the best places to visit. The b&b is situated in a beautiful location and is sparkling clean, modern and spacious. I will definitely be back!

    Gemma2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Ashling is a wonderful host. Even with a last minute booking she was prepared for our arrival. The welcome was warm and the room perfect. The unexpected pleasure of her delicious breakfast was an excellent touch. Thanks for having us stay in your home.

    Jasmine2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • My first stay was for 10 nights in July and it was just perfect! Ashling and her family are very very warm-hearted, helpful and kind. The room is big, spotless, cozy and well equipped with everything you need. Your privacy will be respected but if you feel like it, you can have a good evening talk with Ashling or the whole family over a cup of tea. The rich breakfast in the morning is just outstanding with the warm scones and fresh fruits! I enjoyed long walks at the beach and the peaceful, beautiful nature there. Ashling was so kind and arranged a horse riding lesson for me, which was really great fun! It wasn't difficult to get around without a car because it was always possible to get a lift into Wicklow town if I wanted to. If you would like to hike: there is a direct bus connection from Wicklow town to Glendalough. Unfortunately, my second stay in September was just for one night but it was just as perfect as the first one. I would highly recommend staying here! And if you have time and would like to have a quiet, peaceful vacation on the beach - stay for longer. It is really worth it. Thank you again for everything. I will miss you all. xx

    Anja2019-09-25T00:00:00Z

  • The property is a former barn and would be very smartly converted. It is easy to get to the sea or can make beautiful walks. For breakfast there were homemade scones. Ashley and her family are very hospitable and everything was very uncomplicated!

    Cindy2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Ashling was so kind and friendly. The breakfast was perfect and the scones were just the best! The room was larger than expected and had the right amount of coziness. We'll be sure to go back.

Swallow Barn is a converted farm building on Ballard Farm that has been host to families for over 30 years in the tranquil landscape of Co Wicklow. The original interior has been beautifully restored, revealing the original thick structural beams and stone work. This allows for a spacious yet cosy ambience, heated by a combination of radiators and a large Waterford log stove. Doors open out onto the farmyard, where the daily comings and goings of farm life can be enjoyed from your morning cuppa.
Ballard farm, facing south west into a beautiful Wicklow valley, has been held by Michael and Denise Sloan for over fifty years. In the early days the farm bred and managed a jersey dairy herd and later changed to sheep and tillage. The farm is situated a full kilometer from the road, with a glorious avenue edged by spring bulbs and mature trees. The farmyard has a traditional courtyard design with the rear of the family house facing stables opposite, flanked by Swallow Barn (originally for livestock) to one side and The Granary (originally a grain barn) opposite. On occasion we have had joint rentals of the two houses to accommodate for family reunions and large holiday celebrations for which the situation of the two houses works perfectly. The substantial grounds, in and around Ballard Farm, are a gardeners delight. Full credit must be given to Denise Sloan, whose creative and natural green touch is evident by the spectacular array of blooms and sweetly scented flowering throughout all seasons, including a productive vegetable garden, orchard and wild flower paddock. The large shared garden is ideal for relaxation, play and shade with the old apple tree as host to an array of jungle ropes, swings and hammock amongst the leafy branches. Since the conversion to self-accommodation of two of the main farm buildings, Swallow Barn and The Granary, we now have many regular visitors and always enjoys meeting new guests. Both houses are open all year round.
Ballard Farm is situated at the southern part of Co Wicklow near to Brittas bay, the first of the many long sandy beaches which stretch down the coast through Wexford. We are ideally situated with plenty of activites to suit all ages near by. Wicklow town (10 minute drive) is a charming harbor town with many interesting shops, laid back cafes, and a variety of quality restaurants and an excellent bookshop to stock up on your holiday reading. The historic town Gaol (Jail) is very popular with the older children, some evenings special scary tours are arranged. Other activities for children include a kidszone, bowling alley, swimming pool and marine activities. There is even a celebrity seal called Sammy who swims into the harbour for his early evening meal provided by The FishMan who stocks an excellent selection of fresh fish and seafood. There are a number of local country pubs all within a short driving distance that do meals also. If you want to get out into the fresh air there is a selection of golf courses from par 3 to international championship courses within thirty minutes drive. World renowned Mount Usher (Robinsonian) gardens and Powerscourt House and garden are also near with many other gardens open throughout the summer. Horse riding is also a popular activity with plenty of trekking centres nearby. Bikes can be rented locally also, although note that whilst the farm enjoys a wonderful elevated aspect, the hills can be tough on the cycling legs so some cycling experience would be recommended! Brittas Bay is the nearby coastline (6 km) with stunning golden sandy beaches and gentle waves, perfect for a walk any time of year. There is a small surfing school, with classes all summer and usually on the term breaks off season. And if relaxation is in mind there is an superb yoga studio just 3 kilometers from us. They offer a selection of levels and class types and dropins are welcome with a quick call before to check availability. For the walkers out there Wicklow is a must with routes that will cater for all levels. Going west, inland to the mountains, Glendalough was one of the most important early christian settlements in Europe and makes an inspiring visit with many walking trails, for both beginners and advanced, starting at this point. Dublin is only an hours drive away although most guests like to opt for the rail route which takes the same time but travels along the coastline. Back on the farm there are bar-b-qs for your use and most weeks there is some seasonal activity happening on the farm.

  • Lesley’s little haven was the best Airbnb experience we have ever had. It is not surprising that Lesley holds the title of super host on Airbnb as her place is stunning, warm, welcoming and stylish. One of the great things about the location is that you are nestled away in the beautiful countryside, away from the hustle and bustle but only a few minutes away from a secluded beach and a lovely little village. A very short drive away is Wicklow town center with all amenities available. Being animal lovers it was such an amazing experience to be able to around her rescued animals and feeding her 4 little ponies and lovely horse right outside our doorstep while watching the chickens roam about. Lesley is amazing and very kind she made us feel very welcomed and met us with a friendly smile and couldn’t be more helpful. We will definitely be booking again shortly. Thanks for everything Lesley. See you again soon. Dan, Sue and Ciara

Find this special haven, the Coach House, within the unique ambience of a 17th century Quaker settlement. Architect-owned & 1 hour from Dublin airport, in historic, undulating countryside, 10 mins from Wicklow town and 8 mins from the 5km stretch of golden sands of Brittas Bay, we welcome guests to Ballymurrin Quaker Farmstead. Enjoy 350 years of history in stone lime-washed walls, with all mod cons - geothermal heating, power shower, and your very own entrance. Be at home ...
The award-winning architect owners provide accommodation that is special, sustainable and luxurious, allowing the beautiful simplicity of the building to shine through. The Coach House dates back to the 1600s, and is converted to provide a chic, authentic interior of light flowing spaces, whitewashed walls, porcelain floors with walk-in, en-suite wetroom. Guilt-free luxury includes underfloor geo-thermal heating and filtered well water. The bedroom opens onto a small stone terrace, made from the original flag-stoned floor. The double bedroom leads to a small hallway and ensuite. From there, access our newest old feature - the Forge - with clay fireplace, and a cunning kitchen hidden inside a cupboard. Here there is a workspace, sofa and dining table. There is a small fridge, microwave, toaster, a single induction hob and the makings of a cup of tea/coffee. We are delighted to announce that we have just added a secluded, private outdoor seating and barbecue zone in the unroofed cottage behind the house for the exclusive use of guests during summer months.
Close to everything, yet apart, this location will allow you to explore the Wicklow Mountains, enjoy one of the many world-class golf courses, stroll the gardens of Mount Usher, voted “the most romantic garden to visit in the Republic of Ireland”
, and stroll the structured Italianate gardens of Powerscourt. Savour gourmet cuisine in one of the Avoca Cafés, close by, from whence the best-selling Cookbooks derive, or select a different themed restaurant each evening. If coastline beckons, visit the most famous beach on the east coast, Brittas Bay. With no headlands to interfere with the peaceful rhythm, it is ideal for bathing, sailing, walking and never crowded. In Wicklow town, visit the haunted Gaol and prepare to be ‘afeared’; browse in the excellent fashion boutiques; enjoy lavished attention in one of the many beauty parlours or local spas. Or…simply relax ...
  • We enjoyed our stay at the coach house! We came to Ireland for our honeymoon this past summer and loved it so much we came back! We did mainly the west coast last time and decided to use Wicklow area as our base point this time. This is such a great location to travel up and down the coast! The breakfast items for the first day were a great touch. The space is so cute and was perfect for my husband and I. We decided we would make our breakfasts at the place and do dinners out. All items needed to cook were there and easy to use. I would recommend the coach house to anyone else traveling to Ireland!

    Melanie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed peace and quiet, lots of privacy. We loved meeting the pets. Also the convenience of the location being under an hour's drive to the city centre!

  • Wow, a truly outstanding experience! Delphine and Philip are great hosts. After a warm welcome we found croissants and fruit for our first breakfast in the cozy and well styled room. We loved all the history and stories about the place and early residents. The place looks even better then the pictures, it’s a very comfortable stay. Everything was very clean. Highly recommended, we definitely go back if we are in Ireland! Thanks Delpine and Philip

Lador is a large bungalow on a totally secluded, quiet, gated 2 acre plot. It's 5 minutes drive from Wicklow Town, 5 minutes drive from the N11, 5 minutes drive from our gorgeous local beach, Magheramore, 10/15 minutes from Brittas Bay, 25 minutes from Glendalough & the Wicklow Mountains & 50 minutes from Dublin. There is ample parking space for 2/3 cars. PLEASE NOTE; LADOR IS JUST OUTSIDE WICKLOW TOWN AND BALLINTESKIN IS A LOCAL HAMLET. If you want a quiet, secluded rural location which is also close to a lively town, the sea & beach, the Wicklow mountains & the motorway to Dublin, Wexford & beyond, then Lador is for you. I love the fact that I live in a rural oasis of calm near the sea & the mountains, but in less than an hour, you can be in the centre of Dublin enjoying the sites & sounds of a vibrant capital city.
  • The apartment I reserved was unexpectedly unavailable so Michael was kind enough to let me stay in a room in his home. It wasn't exactly what I wanted but he made me feel very welcome and at home. Even cooked me a full Irish breakfast each morning. The property is gorgeous, the area is peaceful and exactly what I hoped it would be. I was provided plenty of tips on what to do and where to eat. Thoroughly enjoyed my short stay with Michael. Thanks!

    William2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, very well equipped and cosy. Michael is a great host and very communicative.

    Ritchie2019-10-29T00:00:00Z

  • Wicklow is a lovely part of Ireland with many attractions on the doorstep, away from the hustle and bustle of the town, this lovely peaceful setting, helps to recharge and connect back to nature, it was lovely to hear the birds in the morning. The unit is private from the main house, yet there is access for house should you need anything. Great host and Ben the spaniel is very friendly. The place is very dog oriented.

    Julie2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was perfect for our stay in Ireland. Michael was a very welcoming host... even with our late arrival due to car breaking down! It had everything we needed... lovely clean private studio with lots of space in a quiet location with a very comfy bed. It has its own private outdoor seating area, perfect to sit out in with our dog. We used the studio as we were visiting friends in the area and we will definitely be returning next year.

    Mel2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice stay in the apartment of Michael. It is really cousy and he had a nice collection of DVDs to watch before bed. It's close to Wicklow town and to the beach really nice.

    Manuela2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Michael is a fantastic host; he’s friendly and helpful, and has a great knowledge of the local area and beyond. His dog, Ben, is utterly gorgeous. The studio is lovely and comfortable - perfect for a peaceful getaway. Michael has ensured the place has lots of little touches to make it ideal; all of which were greatly appreciated. The location is close to Wicklow centre, which has places to eat, drink and shop. It is also close to other sights, such as beaches and walks. We would definitely stay with Michael again when back this way.

    Carolyn2019-08-09T00:00:00Z

The Gate Lodge is situated on the property of The Old Rectory, Dunganstown. Gently restored over time it includes integrated modern conveniences with the structure and sentiment of the original building. The interior is ambient and full of natural light. Large patio doors face south west onto an intimate courtyard space which then leads to breathtaking views across the valley. As well as being very spacious the house is cosy; heated with geothermal underfloor hearing and a solid fuel stove.
Welcome! The Gate Lodge is part of the Old Rectory which was the Rectory for Dunganstown, Redcross and Conary parish up until the 1960's. Since then the property has been owned privately. Joanna, Simon and their growing family have lived at the property since 2002 and over the years have restored the main house, gardens and out-buildings whilst introducing their own design and practical needs of rearing a family. The Gate Lodge is situated along the property's boundary to the road. The building's south west facade was rebuilt using local stone and retains it's generous arched entrance which was an original feature. This glass patio-doored entrance leads to the Lodge's own little garden where guests can enjoy a coffee in the sunshine or an evening barbeque. Guest access to the building from the car is through a separate entrance to the garden patio doors and does not involve climbing any steps. The interior is double height with an upstairs platform corridor linking the 2 bedrooms. There is a bathroom with a shower upstairs and a bathroom with a bath downstairs. The main living/kitchen/dining area is large and light filled -so much so that it has been used for life-drawing workshops in the past. The living area has a modern wood burning stove which heats the entire open-plan space along with geothermal underfloor heating. Other conveniences include a washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine, fan oven, 4 ring electric hob, microwave, Smeg free standing fridge/freezer, iron and ironing board and an essential collection of cooking and dining utensils/crockery. Tap water is clean to drink and collected by a water pump on the land. The property has locks and keys on all external doors of which the guests are given a set. A cot and high chair are available on request as well as some children's toys. Breakfast cereal, bread, milk, tea, coffee, juice and some jams are left out for guests on their arrival. Free range eggs and homemade jams are available to buy from our neighbour who leaves them at her gate with an honestly box, they are quite delicious!
Your stay at the Gate Lodge sets you at the top of the gentle rolling hills of Dunganstown - the views over the valley and across to the Wicklow mountains are truly exceptional. The long golden Brittas Bay beaches are 4kms away; a quick drive, pleasant cycle, brisk jog or ambitious walk! From surfing on Magharemore beach to kite-flying to walking and beach-combing the south-east coast line continues to delight all ages. Wicklow is the closest town (10 min drive). It's a harbour town which has a wonderful holiday ambience all through the summer. There are many cafes, butchers, fruit and veg shops, a gourmet wine shop and 'Ireland's best independent' book shop plus much more local enterprises which make up the fabric of the town's community. The Wicklow Historic Gaol offers guided tours and has a welcome cafe after you've been suitably scared by it's haunted stories. The pretty pebble harbour attracts sailors, swimmers, dog walkers, paddle boarders, pier jumpers, fishers, and landscape painters. It's a very social spot during the holidays where parents and children gather for it's busy sea-swimming lessons. Further west is the monastic heritage site Glendalough. For keen golfers there are many golf courses along the coast all within a 20 minute drive. Horse riding and trekking are very in the area with many stable yards who will give lessons and take you out for a gentle hack.
  • Great location, lovely hosts and a very comfy and well kitted out space. Also, we had to leave unexpectedly and Joanna was very understanding and generous about the situation. Will be back for sure. Thank you!

    David2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We were over the moon when we arrived at Joanna's place. What a beautiful spot, surrounded by stunning landscapes! We received a warm welcome and enjoyed a walk in the private grounds, brimming with apple trees and blackberry bushes. Over the next 3 days we got to explore the sea side at Brittas Bay, a hike up to the Spinc in Glendalough (we got drenched, but hey - still worth it!), went shopping in Dundrum Shopping Centre and enjoyed simply gathering together in front of the wooden stove. The house was super clean, we found everything we needed in the kitchen, the shower is nice and warm and the beds cosy. I would definitely recommend this place. Thank you for a wonderful stay and for your thoughtfulness, providing us with breakfast items and fresh eggs! Warm wishes, Tanja

  • Joanna is a lovely host and her guest house is wonderfully private, quiet and yet connected! It's perfectly positioned for the beach, trips to Dublin and walking in the countryside. We totally relaxed and even lit the fire for extra cosiness as the evenings drew in. We highly recommend a stay and you won't find much better in terms of beaches than Brittas Bay!

    Vicky2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the property is just idyllic and the grounds are beautiful. We stayed here for 3 nights with our 19month old daughter who had the most wonderful time. The property is well equipped and the log burner is fabulous. We enjoyed the great beaches at Brittas Bay, Avoca and exploring Glendalough, which were surprisingly toddler friendly. All in all a very special trip

South facing sunny secluded back garden with covered barbeque area. Nice big sunny kitchen. 3 tennis courts and football pitch on site. Five minutes by car to Blue Flag Beach. 10 minutes drive to Arklow town and Wicklow town which has great shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and Bowling Alley and Kidzone. There is a wide variety of cultural and heritage sites in Wicklow including Avondale House and Gardens, Glendalough, Kilmacurragh Botanical Gardens, Powers Court House & Mount Usher Gardens.
Brittas Bay is best known for its 4km stretch of white sandy beach. Only a 45 min drive from Dublin it is busy in the summer and beautifully quiet in the winter. D Stores is the local mini market and directly beside it is The Bay Café serving superb breakfast and freshly made lunches and an array of baking daily. Jack Whites' is the local pub and serves a good lunch and dinner menu. They have a courtesy bus that will pick you up and take you home. 'Mickey Finns' is a good alternative in Redcross (10 mins drive) which occasionally has traditional music, has its own brewery and separate adult only restaurant - advisable to book. Wicklow town is also a 10 min drive and Bridgewater SC & cinema, Arklow is a 10 min drive.
  • Wonderful family retreat. We came as a group of 5 adults for a very early Christmas! We had a fabulous time. Lovely and well-appointed house with everything you need (the lack of WiFi was not an issue - there was plenty of mobile signal (we were all on 3)). The beach is just a 5-10 minute walk away. Shops etc not far off in Arklow. Overall a great stay for those looking for a country retreat and spot of fresh air!

    Brittas Bay, County Wicklow, Ireland

Welcome to Ballard Farm Holidays. We provide self-catering accommodation in two of our converted farm buildings set in the beautiful and tranquil landscape of Co Wicklow, Ireland. The Granary was originally used as a grain barn and still retains many unique features. Conversion adaptations include full wheelchair access, with a downstairs twin bedroom and bathroom, and large sliding doors that lead out to a private patio where stunning views extend across the Wicklow valleys.
  • We had such a lovely time on the farm , a real glimpse into peaceful living. We would love to come back. Thank you

  • This airbnb location has an unbelievable pastoral view with 80 sheep, horses, dogs, chickens, guinea fowl, rabbits and numerous wild birds gracing the skies. Mary and her husband Michael are extremely gracious and hospital with a vast knowledge of the local area and Ireland. The Granary is very comfortable and has all the accommodations one would need for a long stay. You will greatly enjoy it!!

  • Peter is fantastic! He dropped off some towels that the cleaners forgot to leave and even brought some ham, cheese and bread so we didn’t have to go out with our little kids. So kind. The place is simple but it was great for our group of 9. And the community seems very quiet.

  • House was perfect for what we wanted. It had everything we needed and more, including a very useful first aid kit! • Our stay at Sandra’s and Colm’s incredible house is in my opinion exactly the reason why Airbnb was once setup; enjoying a family holiday in the setting of a real Irish household, for 8 days they made us feel part of their family. Sandra and Colm have a wonderful house, with views that will take your breath away. The location in the beautiful county Wicklow is perfect to explore the east coast, but also close enough to Dublin for a visit. Sandra and Colm made us feel right at home and allowed us to make full use of their house and their (child friendly!) garden. Their hospitality was outstanding! They were there if we needed them, always happy to help, but also respected our privacy. They involved our children when feeding the animals and collecting the eggs, which they absolutely loved. We had an amazing holiday and will be back!! Thank you!!

    Ofke2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • From before we even met, Sandra was a fantastic and friendly host asking if there were any special requests for food or suggestions for our travel planning. She went out of her way to arrange a travel cot for my toddler. She gave us location tips, which improved our entire week’s plan in Ireland even though we only were able to stay at her home for 2 nights. Her whole family was warm and welcoming and we were in awe of how they trust and share their beautiful home. We loved walking around the nearby beach, jumping on the trampoline with our 2 year old, and gathering fresh eggs for breakfast from the happy hens. This place embodied Ireland and was a wonderful finale for our time in the country.

    Marc And Julie2018-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Sandra's place. The house and surroundings are beautiful. We really enjoyed the conversations around the kitchen table! From the house it is easy to spend a day or two driving around to see all the sights. Wicklow mountains were amazing

  • This is truly and exquisite home. The photographs cannot do justice to the light-filled, tastefully-decorated, beautifully furnished spaces within. The views and ambience, along with the warmth and inclusivity of the welcome accorded by Sandra, Colm and family all contribute to a complete switch off and peaceful break. Highly recommended.

    Carmel2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is how you dream your holiday start. Fantastic location & house. Excellent hospitality. Helpful Sandra.

    Stefan2018-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived, Sandra and Colm made us feel welcome. Their home is lovely and the grounds are even more picturesque than we imagined. This being our first trip to Ireland, we were grateful for their wonderful recommendations about things to see and do, and the best ways to get there. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, and highly recommend this home.

    Mike2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • I love Sandra’s property and the room and bathroom are great. Her family is genuine and welcoming. If you’re playing golf at The European Club this is a fantastic spot to stay - just a 5 minute drive. Easy 5 star rating.

  • The yurt is amazing. We were worried about it being too cold as it's February but once we got the stove going it was toasty warm and stayed like that the whole time we were there. It was great for a 2 night stay but I would have loved to stay longer. Unlike a lot of the glamping parks this doesn't cost an arm and leg and there's plenty of space for sleeping/relaxing/eating, plus a heater in the outhouse bathroom which turns it practically into a sauna if you want. Loads to do nearby. Thanks Sara, James, baby, and Buddy!

    Aideen2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Warm, cosy, spacious Yurt. Relaxing place to spend the evening after walking in the hills. Hot stove to keep you comfortable at night. Thank you Sara and James for making sure we had everything we needed.

Situated within 5mins walk from stunning Brittas Bay beach, this house offers everything you need for a hassle free getaway. Perfect for a large family or two families holidaying together, there is plenty of space to accommodate everyone. Only 45 mins from Dublin airport, everything is very accessible as you are only minutes from the M11. Wicklow town and Arklow only 10mins in either direction.
The house is 235sqm with generous proportions. The house is a H shape, the vaulted ceilings give you a greater sense of space. The living accommodation is on the right hand of the centre hallway that leads to all 4 bedrooms on the left hand side of the house. The open living & dining room is L shaped which makes each room its own. Double doors lead your to the patio with access to the rear and side garden. There is an open fire in the living room with plenty of seating area. The long wide hallway houses the main bathroom and leads to the 4 bedrooms, 2 of which are ensuite. Overall this is a fantastically comfortable and spacious warm house.
The house is detached on 1/2 acre at the end of a 22 house road. As you walk out of the double doors from the dining room to the patio, your view is flora & fauna, small sand dunes and an endless view. It’s beautifully peaceful.
  • Such a homely comfortable place to stay with a 5 min walk to the beach and only 50 mins from the centre of Dublin with perfect access to the countryside. Cannot recommend staying here enough. Perfect for groups.

  • Perfect for family or groups. It was our first full family Christmas with relatives from both sides of the family, and this beautiful spacious house became the perfect home for us. Sarah also prepared a Christmas tree for us in advance which was a lovely festive touch. Everyone agreed the amenities were perfect and even had some nice cooking equipment (but we also brought some). The rooms were spotless and the bedding was soft and comfortable. Everything worked very well and we particularly appreciated access to the washing and dryer machines, walks on the beach and the open fire. Really, we couldn’t fault this place and will be more than happy to recommend to friends and family.

This is a large spacious beach house suitable for everyone. It is fully furnished with everything you could need! It is located directly across from the famous Brittas Bay Blue Flag Beach. As well as all linens, towels and fully equipped kitchen, including oven, fridges, freezers, microwave, dishwasher, washer drier, etc there are also plenty of books and games to entertain all the family.
One of the highlights according to recent reviews is the amazing view out to the garden and the mountains in the background. It’s a great place to chill and watch the setting sun.
Brittas Bay is a great area. It’s close to both Arklow and Wicklow and good for rambles around Wicklow Way or along the long white sandy beach.
  • Comfortable, bright spacious house in a terrific location next to a great beach. Bathrooms and heating are a little dated but all worked fine. WiFi was adequate for leisure use but the local network seemed to slow down at very busy times during the day. House is really well equipped with kitchen implements, lots of duvets and towels etc. Anne responded quickly to address any issues we had.

  • Superb location. The house was spacious and had everything we needed. Anne was a welcoming host.

  • The kids freaked when they saw the airbnb was next to the Brittas Bay beach. We spent a good amount of our time on the beach and the kids didn’t want to leave. We had two nice sunsets which we enjoyed. We almost had the whole beach to ourselves, just a few people around. We were a party of four and everyone was able to have their own bed and bedroom, everyone slept really well. There was a Tesco a few kilometers up the road where we bought groceries. I would recommend buying some drinking water prior to arriving. It wasn’t any big deal on the way in to buy some water at the Tesco and then proceed to the house. I had run out of bottle water the last day and wanted some coffee. I made the coffee from water from the bathroom sink which was much cleaner than the kitchen water for some reason. Coffee was good, I couldn’t tell the difference. Although the washer has a built in dryer, the dryer seems takes awhile to completely dry the clothes so we hung the clothes on the clothesline for a few hours. We went to Powerscourt which has really beautiful gardens and there is a trail along the ocean between Bray and Greystone that is really worth doing. Out of the four airbnb we stayed at on this trip, everyone liked this airbnb the best.

  • Anne's house was superb! Anne was so helpful and easy to communicate with and always replied fast. The location was ideal for a holiday, only minutes walk from an amazing beach. The house had plenty of room out the front with a very large garden around the back and a patio with a seating area, great view of the sunset! The inside was spacious with a fully fitted kitchen and large comfortable bedrooms. There were lovely touches such as books and games also. The house was absolutely spotless and kept very tidy. Would absolutely recommend!

  • Andrina was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Everything was seemless in our communication prior to our stay. The house was perfect for our family of four, really lovely enclosed estate where it was very safe for kids to play around. The house was perfect with all facilities you'd need and very clean. Great outdoor area for relaxing and eating outside, closed off and not overlooked. The house also had tennis racquets which we used on the tennis courts on the grounds. One minute drive to the beach, you could walk it but we didn't with two young kids. Can't wait to go back next year, thank you so much Andrina.
