Places to stay in Glenveagh

Places to stay in Glenveagh
"The Hide" is a cosy, handcrafted cabin nestled on a slope on our property with stunning views towards Glenveagh National Park. Just fifteen minutes drive from The Wild Atlantic Way makes The Hide ideal for a peaceful retreat or a great base for exploring Donegal.
The cabin is a cosy, self contained space, designed and made by Pete to make the most of our beautiful mountain views. We have both enjoyed decorating the space with as many handcrafted, reclaimed and up-cycled items as possible. As you enter The Hide you will find a wood burning stove in the centre of the cabin, alcove double bed with curtains and blinds to the right and a small bathroom behind the bed. A couch against the centre back wall allows guests to avail of the fire and the tranquil views through the double doors onto the deck. To the left is the kitchen area with a four ring electric hob, combined oven, grill and microwave and fridge with freezer compartment. Guests have access to a washing machine and dryer in a nearby outbuilding. The space is heated by the wood-burning stove with fuel provided. The private decked area with seating, table and barbecue is to the front. Guest access is via a private gravel path behind our own traditional cottage which leads to the cabin. If The Hide is unavailable for the dates you are interested in, please check out our other listings. The Cow Shed is a little converted byre at the opposite end of our house from the cabin. The Birdbox is our little handcrafted treehouse nestled in mature trees behind The Cow Shed.
We are centrally located in a beautiful part of Donegal, close to most of its attractions. The cabin is nestled in a valley 3 km from the scenic village of Fintown. The river Finn is known widely for its salmon and trout fishing and permits are available locally for fly-fishing. In Fintown village, you will find the only operational narrow gauge railway in Donegal. It runs for 5 km beside Lough Finn, which is overlooked by Aghla and Scraig mountains. The local village has a shop, pubs, church, school, health centre and library. The towns of Glenties, Dungloe, Ballybofey and Letterkenny are 15 minutes, 15 minutes, 25 minutes and 30 minutes drives respectively. There you will find restaurants, pubs and supermarkets. There are many stunning beaches within a 30 minute drive, offering beautiful walks and a choice of sports such as kayaking, surfing, golf and horse-riding, all of which we can help you to organise.

  • We loved, loved, loved our stay here. So peaceful and cozy in this cottage even if the weathers bad you don't mind sitting inside with a gorgeous view and a book by the fire. Great place to unplug from the world for a bit. Cant recommended it enough!

    Isabelle2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing space in stunning scenery. Get away from everything with no phone signal just we needed. Space is amazing with everything you could need and the Spotify playlists are amazing!

    Nathan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed in Donegal many times over the course of 30+ years and this is by far the best place either of us has ever stayed. Anna and Pete are the perfect hosts; enthusiastic, warm and friendly. The wood burning stove was lit before our arrival, so the cottage was cosy, even in 2 degrees! The cottage exceeded all of our expectations; far bigger than it seemed from the pictures, super cosy, spotlessly clean and full of character. The views from the cottage are incredible, even with snow, storms, hailstones, and lightening! We loved staying here, cooking, listening to music, drinking wine, taking drives to spectacular wild beaches, and enjoying watching the ever changing weather from the comfort of this cosy little cottage. We will definitely be back.

    Laura2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little place in Co. Donegal. Pete was an excellent host, and talked us through everything that the cottage had to offer. Even in February it was a great place to stay, and I would reccomend it to anyone looking for a quiet getaway away from the world. Thank you Pete and Anna!

    Adele2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! Cosy and comfortable with lovely personal touches. Stunning scenery. Pete and Anna were warm and welcoming. Also very accommodating and flexible - communication was great! Highly recommend for couples/friends looking for quiet get away in rural Ireland.

    Naomi2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • You read the reviews and have an idea in your head what to expect but Pete and Anna will blow them out of the water. You couldn’t ask for more hospitable hosts. The cottage is so cosy and ab escape from the outside world. From books and DVDs to Spotify playlists made for you, Pete and Anna thought of everything!

    Laura2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to escape to. With no phone signal its amazing to just take in the mountain area inside the cozy cottage.

    Fintown, CO DONEGAL, Ireland

Ideal location for visitors to Letterkenny. Its is particularly suitable for groups or families, wedding parties and those attending functions in the area. Just 5min from the bustling town of Letterkenny and a 2 minute drive to the Golf Club and the renowned Brownes on the Green Restaurant. The property is also ideally located for touring the Wild Atlantic Way. This restored church dates from 1838. It may not be suitable for very young children or the very frail due to the steps and stairs.
Hidden away in a tranquil oasis of trees The Spires is a wonderful retreat. The property is at the disposal of the guests and is the ideal home from home. While a few quirky features reflect the age and history of the building it has present day creature comforts to most peoples satisfaction. There is ample car parking and a host of local walks.
The Spires with its long history spanning some 190 years is situated in what is arguably one of Letterkenny’s most desirable areas. While only a few minutes drive from the bustling town of Letterkenny with its pubs, clubs, theater, cinemas and fabulous restaurants it will seem a lifetime away as you enjoy life with your friends in front of a roaring open fire. Whether walker, golfer, romantic or reader you will find something while staying at The Spires to make your break special.
  • We stayed at The Spires Letterkenny for a weekend in March and it was absolutely fabulous. Ger is a true super host as he was so friendly and helpful. The house is truly unique and was so clean and comfortable. We had a birthday night out in a restaurant in Letterkenny and had no trouble getting taxis back. We loved this place!

    Johanna2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Spires is an absolutely beautiful home near Letterkenny. The place exceeding our expectations and my only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the future.

    Kelly2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing home with plenty of room for a large family. Four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Very large kitchen and living room. Plenty of parking for multiple vehicles. The host is very knowledgeable of the area and activities. Ger had a fire started in the fireplace when we arrived. The nearby town of Letterkenny is beautiful and there is a nearby national park and outdoor activities. One of our favorite places to stay during our trip to Ireland.

    Sean2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful unique home...full of character. My family and I ( 6 of us) stayed here over for Christmas eve and Christmas day. It was such a beautiful place to spend the holidays. The home is stunning and very spacious. The windows are amazing especially the little circular one and the open fire is the cherry on top. So cosy and homely. All bedrooms were of a good size with comfy beds and very clean and tastefully decorated. The kitchen and the top bedroom were my favourite parts of the house although everywhere is beautiful. It is very well equipped... everything you would possibly need in the kitchen and an endless amount of fuel for the fire. I loved the beautiful blue and white crockery also. It was such a lovely touch having some nice Christmas decorations up around the house while we stayed there. Ger is an excellent host...thoughtful, knowledgable and quick to respond. We really appreciated his local tips on walks in the surrounding area and also him lighting the fire for our return while we were out for Christmas dinner. An amazing stay all round. Highly recommend.

    Holly2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Spires is absolutely beautiful. Such a creative, comfortable space for our family of 6. Ger and Martha were very accommodating and responsive. We’d love to come back!

    Alida2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ger couldn’t have been more thoughtful or welcoming! The house was absolutely beautiful and very clean and we had everything that we needed at hand. It is conveniently located next to the golf course in Letterkenny. The views from the house are also second to none and a lot of the key features were well maintained. On our first night, Ger had fresh peat brought in for our fire that he made for us arriving which added to the overall experience. What a wonderful stay!

    Kate2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house to stay at! Ger was more than helpful

    Sheena2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Ger is a phenomenal host. He's very responsive and hospitable. The place is amazing an there clearly was pride taken in the restoration. We weren't planning on staying in the area but did, to stay here. No regrets!

Unique and spacious Canadian oak post and beam country house with self-contained traditional cottage attached. Dynamic and truly breathtaking views across the entire Derryveagh mountain range, including Mount Earagail and Muckish. We are only 4 miles from the stunning Wild Atlantic Way coast and beaches. Magnificent walks and cycle paths from outside our door, including the new Burtonport Railway Walk.
This beautiful oak post and beam country house is sandwiched between the Derryveagh mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean in Donegal and is just 20 minutes drive from the Glenveagh National Park, with its castle, lake and golden eagle colony. The local beaches are stunning and offer swimming, sailing, kayaking and surfing opportunities. The property has an optional additional self-contained dwelling - a traditional Irish stone cottage (usually only made available if more than 6 guests, for an extra charge). Both properties are connected by an adjoining door but can be kept separate. The whole property is on a 10-acre site with the Tullaghobegly River on one boundary and our own 8-acre turf bog on the other. It is completely private, surrounded by hundreds of semi-mature trees, planted over 15 years ago. This is an ideal holiday retreat for a large family, or even two families, who want to either relax in a beautiful sun-drenched house, or who want to get out and enjoy the great outdoors - surfing, mountain walks, horse-riding, fishing - there is something for everyone around us. A new 30km walk has just opened (a little like the Greenway in Co Mayo) and the walk passes along the railway line at the top of our property, making a stunning walk or cycling route for visitors. When completed it will be an over 60km walk from Creeslough to Burtonport. Our eco-friendly property is constructed with a large open plan living space with cathedral height ceiling framed by oak posts and beams, with all internal woodwork in solid Canadian oak, and extensive South-facing glazing offering bright, comfortable spacious accommodation with outstanding views across the fields to the mountains beyond. The house is ideal for summer and winter holidays, as it is spacious but very warm. The 3-bedroomed main house is connected to a traditional fully self-contained 1-bedroom cottage with its own bathroom and kitchen (extra charge - please ask). Our entire property is heated without oil, using underfloor heating powered by a combination of an air-to-water heat pump, solar panels, the passive solar gain from the South-facing glazing and a wood-fired stove. The cottage is also heated by the air-to-water heat system, a traditional Rayburn range, and a lovely little cast-iron stove. 2 1/2 acres of the 10 acre site are planted with over 1,000 indigenous trees, some of which are established now for 15 years. The Tullaghobegley river is on the property and forms one complete boundary of this idyllic rural site. Main House 220 sq metre 3 bedrooms 2nd (upstairs) living room with movie projector and screen has a double sofa bed and can be set up as a 4th sleeping space. 2 bathrooms Utility room 1 open-plan Lounge/Dining room/Kitchen Self-contained Cottage 65 sq m (extra charge - please ask) 1 bedroom 1 bathroom 1 Living room, with double sofa bed 1 Kitchen/Dining space
Local people are extremely friendly and will stop and chat, invite you in for a cup of tea, and much more, but will also be discrete and leave you to enjoy your stay. The local area is famous for its intense natural beauty, with walking routes and trails over the peat bog and into the Derryveagh mountains, and is located only 4 miles from the stunning Atlantic beaches of Magheroarty and Falcarragh. Glenveagh National Park, across the Muckish Mountain Gap, is also well worth a couple of visits.
  • I for one can recommend staying here in the depths of winter during a storm. Fantastically cosy and a joy to listen to the mountain winds howling outside, while sitting by the fire.

    John2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house in great surroundings. Good facilities, super communication and check-in. Warm water was a bit scarce so got some cold showers, but apart from that perfect. Would easily rent the house again if I am going back to northern Ireland.

    Anders2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The house is amazing - made it very easy to have a nice relaxed time. Plenty of room to chill, plenty of room to commune. Also incredible views of both sun rise and set.

    Ryan2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful house for a large group, particularly since one needs to prepare for spending a certain amount of time indoors because of the weather. The location was magnificent. The owners and their contact close by were a joy to deal with. Thar a bheith buioch agus sásta.

    Máire2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don’t do this house justice! When you walk in it takes your breath away. Spacious, light and warm. A beautiful place to stay. What a privilege! The wilds of Donegal are at your doorstep. No matter whether you need rest or adventure; this is a perfect base for a spectacular break. Every time you come home and turn the key you’ll think ..wow.. how lucky am I to stay here..

    Fionnuala2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious but homely and welcoming house set in a quite rural area of outstanding natural beauty. We did not want to leave.

    Jennifer2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The kitchen and laundry room are very well equipped, lovely clean, warm house but don't forget to step outside on a clear night for the fabulous starry sky.

    Sara2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Our family had the best time here. It's remote and that was the charm for us. David and Naesa left plenty of notes about what to do in the area and that was incredibly helpful. We traveled from the U.S. and the driving is challenging. We were able to get around and find all of the spots to visit using Google maps and our rental car had a GPS. The house was comfortable and 7 adults and 2 kids had plenty of space to relax. Keep in mind we rented the cottage space too. It was worth it

  • Amazing place, pictures do not do this place justice. Very remote and was just what we were looking for....so relaxing and tranquil. Was hoping for clear skies at nite but not this time. Milford is only 5-10min drive and has all the amenities you will need, local shops, pubs and lovely food. Fanad drive and Downingsis only 20mins away, Portsalon is a must, beach unreal as is the scenic drive looking down onto the beach. Will be back again...Thanks Brian

    Joost2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brian was a super host!Great communication throughout our booking and replied to all my questions. The pictures on Brians site don't do this place justice as it was a fabulous, cosy, massive house with great amenties. Stylish, sparkling clean - all you need for an enjoyable stay. Even without heating on it was still warm and comfortable with a beautiful sitting room and an inviting, open fire. The bedrooms are so comfy and spacious, all you need, with ensuite bathrooms in most. Plenty of towels for bathrooms also. The kitchen is massive with a great dining area looking out to the stunning view. Kitchen has dishwasher, microwave and all the utensils you need. Tea cloths kitchen towels etc.. provided. There is also a great laundry room out the back off the kitchen with everything you need to wash your clothes with an airer/dryer. The nice little touch which I thought was lovely were the christmas decorations, and festive lights, as we were there to celebrate the new year with family and they made it more special and festive. It's very easy to get to literally - after the bunlin bridge, left turn up a lane then a quick right turn up a lovely country lane. It's quiet, scenic views are stunning over looking Mulroy Bay... We were very lucky as we had really nice sunny dry weather while there, and It's a lovely walk down the hill, about 15 mins. to the end of the road. To walk to Milford village after that, its about a half hour walk into town, or by car is 5-10 mins. There are some good pubs one at the bottom of the town the Travellers Inn serving delicous food, breakfast, lunch, dinner and great evening music at weekends. Their is also Dustys bar which has good music too and a pool table. There was great music on while we were there for our few nights. Mulroy woods hotel is just further out the road a mile and has also great food and music at the weekend. Brian had everything you needed and more during our visit. We were very impressed with the whole place and pleasantly surprised also as the wifi which was superb! We thorughly enjoyed our stay and will definatly return.

The view from outside of the mountains was breathtaking and will definitely recommend this to all my friends. I even forgot to lock my door because I felt so safe on the premises. To good for the price. Thank you for ending my journey so perfectly.

When I got to Letterkenny she very kindly collected me from the bus station and showed me my room which was spotless! It’s not too far from Letterkenny town either which is great. Would definitely stay again if I find myself up in Letterkenny again!

As I was new to the country, Marian helped me in every way that she could that were all kind and ensured I was safe and comfortable at all times. Her place was also that very clean and had all amenities for a sophisticated stay. I would highly recommend Marian’s place for the best reception and a convenient stay. I love the fresh country air the tranquillity and silence of our surroundings, the panoramic views, and the country lane walks on our door step.
  • Tranquil House is possibly my top favorite airbnb to date. The house is adorable and artistic and comfortable. The location is gorgeous (on a hill with a view). The hosts are super kind and easy to get on with (even when under the weather!). I had an amazing time, and would go back in a heart beat.

  • Sarah and her husband are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They're house is perfectly set serenely on a hill in the forest not far from town. The bed is as cozy as it gets, and the shower is hot. Would happily stay with them again!

  • Sarah and Christy are two of the friendliest people I've ever encountered. I felt completely at home as their guest. Sarah went out of her way to help us enjoy our stay. Both Christy and Sarah provided insight into the local music scene, as well as points of interest around Letterkenny. I loved the rural feel, the beautiful scenery, and the fresh air. The room was quite nice, and the bed very comfortable. We both hope to come back!

  • This is a lovely, peaceful, and tranquil location to go and get away from it all with beautiful views and fantastic company. The location is just a 10-15 minute drive to just about anywhere in Letterkenny, which has numerous restaurants and charming sites to visit. Sarah was an amazing host, we had a lovely chat when we arrived, and then she went above and beyond to make me and my friend feel comfortable the next day when I got sick and needed to stay quite a few hours later than originally planned. She was just wonderful. We were very lucky to have her as our host. I can’t thank her enough.

    Heather2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s place is a tranquil spot so close to Letterkenny. The large bedroom has stunning views of the countryside. Sarah suggested a couple of restaurants for dinner, the 10 minute drive to town was easy and we had a great meal. We would definitely recommend staying here

  • Home Away From Home ❤ Sarah and her family were the ideal hosts. Their home was warm and inviting. Clean and Fresh. Homely. Beautiful artwork, sculptures, vintage pieces of furniture throughout their home. Two furbabies ❤. The views from the bedroom and bathroom were that of tranquility/ pure serenity. This house has surely no shortage of windows for you to absorb that Ireland green. The bedroom boasts of wooden floors❤. Pleasant conversations, ever ready to assist with my unconvential travel schedule. There was a supermoon out one night and the family knowing my lunar interest whipped out the telescope and stood it infront of my window in my room, adjusted et al. These are unforgettable touches that I will not forget. Peace. I enjoyed my stay here. This was the first of many to come. County Donegal is ideal for truly, living :) Kavita, Sept 2019

Glebe Cottage is a two hundred year old thatched farm house on the edge of Kilmacrenan village, where you can enjoy a taste of days gone by in Donegal. It is conveniently located on the main road from Letterkenny to Glenveagh National Park and is walking distance from Nora's Traditional Irish pub. The cottage is part of a group of thatched farm buildings, one of which has been converted into a café where guests can enjoy fantastic local homemade food as well as a bit craic with the locals.
Staying at our place is an unique experience! Two hundred year old thatched Irish cottage in the beautiful Co. Donegal, where you can avail of homemade breakfast and lunch and of course awesome Irish roasted coffee in our café adjacent to where you'll be staying. We love telling people about the area and all the amazing places to visit eg. Glenveagh national park, so many fantastic hikes and outdoor activities, our favourite beaches and places to eat & drink, the stuff you don't find in tourist books!
Kilmacrenan is a small village about ten minutes drive from Letterkenny on the main road to Dunfanaghy and Glenveagh National Park. It is mostly an agricultural community and was once home to a large fair where farmers from the surrounding area would gather to trade livestock. Historically, Kilmacrennan is best known as a major eclesiastical center and the place where Colmcille (St. Columba) was educated. The ruins of an abbey that he founded are located just north of the village. The other most notable historical feature is Doon Rock. The rock was the traditional inauguration site of the O'Donnell chieftains who ruled over the kingdom of Tyrconnell which is now Donegal. The village itself is quite small but does have a shop where you can buy all your essentials. There is also a very good traditional pub, called Nora's, about five minutes walk from the cottage where you can enjoy a pint with the locals. Nora's regularly hosts live traditional music. Kilmacrennan is fairly centrally located for visiting north Donegal. There are plenty of great places to eat, drink, climb, walk, and explore within a few minutes drive. When you arrive we will do our best to point you in the right direction.
  • Branden was a great host, with some very thoughtful touches throughout the cottage. When I arrived there were fresh scones laid out. They were delicious. I can highly recommend staying at this cottage if you want an authentic rustic Irish experience.

  • Beautiful 200-year-old cottage. As one would expect, there will be small glitches with an authentic old cottage. But, hosts were lovely and nearby to quickly resolve. If you want an authentic, real Donegal experience, this is it. Beds very comfy. And soda bread was delicious. And a bottle of wine on arrival. Could not ask for better!

  • Majella is a wonderful host, very generous and welcomming. She makes you feel right at home. And offers so much for breakfast , its better than a hotel!!! THe room is comfortable for long stays and the location is great for trips to Glenveagh or Letterkenny. Some nice walking close by the house also.

    Kathy2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Majella was a perfect host. She responded to me promptly and truly went out of her way to make me feel at home, which I especially appreciated being a solo traveller! She was so welcoming and helpful when I asked for advice about planning my next day’s activities. There’s even a book filled with tourist attractions and descriptions available to you in the room. The space had everything you could need - even toast, yogurt, tea, etc for breakfast. The room was adorable, comfortable, large and had an en-suite bathroom with a shower that was nice and hot and that had great water pressure. Majella was so thoughtful and provided anything I could possibly need for my stay. No fear in case you forgot your toothbrush or whatever else at home! The house was not far from Letterkenny and was so close to Glenveagh National Park and all the scenic drives/sites I wanted to see around the peninsula. I would highly recommend Majella’s place to anyone visiting Donegal.

Oil heating. Continental breakfast. Please note this property has limited cooking facilities. There is no oven/cooker. There is, however, a microwave oven.

  • Great property in a fab location. Perfectly clean and ample facilities for a short stay. The Airbnb is actually part of a larger property so we felt very aware of this while we were there, as friends catching up we felt quite conscious about talking into the night with our hosts next door and above us, this could be clearer in the listing. Other than this our stay was perfect, clean, easy and thoughtful essentials for us.

  • Barry and Robison were lovely hosts! If we are ever in the area again, we would love to book this AirBnB again. When we weren’t adventuring, we were playing pool & darts in the AirBnB - a really neat addition!

    Destiny2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Barry & Roisin are great hosts, very generous in offering us a lift to local pubs etc. Very good communication and great info on local things to do. The location is a slice of Heaven on Earth! Highly recommended, will definitely be back.

    Lauren2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a brilliant place to stay! Barry and Roisin were so hospitable and the barn is perfect. We arrived in the midst of a pretty bad storm but we found that there was plenty to do between snooker, darts and a great collection of DVDs. Roisin gave us some great tips on what to do when the weather settled and there are some brilliant walks on our doorstep. Would definitely recommend this lovely place!

    Ali2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Barry and Roisin were wonderful hosts and couldn’t be more helpful! Check in was easy and they met us at the barn. The barn itself was fantastic, everything you could ever need! Was made especially cosy by a gas fire. It was the perfect way to get away from it all as you are nestled in the mountains. Barry and Roisin even heat up our lasagne for us in their oven, which was a lovely touch! Thank you we will hopefully be back again to stay soon.

    Emma2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Barry and Roisin are incredible hosts!

    Ellen2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and large place. The pool table is a nice plus. Everything you need for the bathroom and enough in the kitchen for making tea and coffee. Hosts are wonderfully friendly as are their sweet dogs. One thing to note is this location is completely cut off from the internet. No wifi, no cell signal (data or otherwise). The nearby town of Cresslough, however, had plenty of cafes and restaurants with wifi. Overall, among the best AirBnBs I've stayed in.

    Scott2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great welcome from you and great stay in the donegal is beautiful! We had a great 3 day stay the accommodation is perfect !!

    Justine2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Warm and cosy barn with a comfy bed, great pool table, and a big selection of DVDs. Close to Glenveagh and Ards Forest Park, short drive to Dunfanaghy and Downings. The directions Barry and Roisin gave us were really detailed and made the place easy to find. We had a lovely relaxing weekend here, and would highly recommend!

  • Really nice location, great hospitality, Declan was very helpful with any questions we had! Can definitely recommend it, we had a great trip here!

    Philipp2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a great place if you want to escape the buzz of the city or your internet connections for a while. I used it as my home base for 10 days while having a training in Letterkenny. The place sees only a couple of houses around in the typical Irish landscape. The communication with Declan was fast, easy and accurate. The cottage is clean and way bigger than I thought. I felt at home immediately. You have a full kitchen, so I could regularly in the evenings. And the opportunity of having a fire place was perfect in the cold winter time. I would love to come back during summer.

    Leon2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous warm and cosy cottage on the doorstep of Glenveagh National park. Perfect for hikers or those just wanting a quiet stay in the countryside. Declan and his daughter were warm and welcoming hosts and gave great tips on things to do in the area. Great value stay and highly recommended.

    Una2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage. Declan had a lovely fire on when we arrived on a cold evening, and was very helpful in assisting us to find the house! Great local recommendations on things to do!

    Lucy2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful peaceful place to stay and Declan was a great host. Class place to go walking in the Derryveagh mountains, explore the Donegal coastline and see the local towns and pubs.

    Ross2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This AirBnB is just wonderful. A beautiful little cottage with beautiful surroundings. No Wifi which allows to actually switch off and leave the world be for a few days. The cottage is very cosy and comfortable and has everything you need. Declan is a very friendly host and also his daughter who gave us a nice welcome at check-in. The area around offers amazing landscapes, which is great for picture taking. Highly recommend this place if you want to get away from people for a little bit and enjoy nature in beautiful Donegal.

    Sandra2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely cottage! Very clean and cozy, especially with the fireplace. Communication with the owner was uncomplicated, since we changed our arrival time on short notice. Glenveagh National Park is nearby and other lovely towns as well. We would definitely recommend to stay here and enjoy the cottage and the area around!

  • Perfect spot for exploring this part of Donegal. It's right on the Wild Atlantic Way and there are a variety of long beaches within a short drive. Super location. The accommodation itself is loft-style so is accessed via a flight of outdoor steps but these have rails on either side so are easily negotiated unless you have walking difficulties. Marianne's description of the facilities is spot on. Bright and very clean, it has everything you'll need and good shops are only a stone's throw away. Great Wifi, very quiet, comfortable bed and nice and cosy, even though we were there in February. Great value and Marianne responded to the few queries we had very quickly. All in all, highly recommend Marianne and her accommodation.

    John2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Teach Fiach was exactly what we were looking for - a warm, homely space that was spotless. Marianne gave us great local tips and left some fantastic scones for us on arrival! Ticked every box we wanted and it was in a perfect, private location.

    Sean2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A wonerful guest house, very clean and comfortable, with lots of beautiful little touches. I felt very at home, and didn't want to leave! But Donegal will do that to you! Marianne is very accommodating and professional. I highly recommend Teach Fiach.

  • We had an amazing time with Mary and her lovely mother Molly. We can only recommend this place. The welcome is considerate and the breakfast incredible for both the mouth and the eyes!

    Géraldine2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Mary’s place was great, positioned right along the Atlantic Way, and a gorgeous view of the bay. She was quick with responses and all of our needs were met. Her mum Molly is truly a dear, fixed us a fabulous Irish breakfast and provided lovely company as we took in the view of the bay.

    Hunter2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • This BnB is a real gem. Molly, Mary's mum who runs it, is extremely kind and helpful. The facilities were very clean and the full Irish breakfast a dream. If you travel by car, the place is perfect for exploring Northern Donegal including main sights like Mt Errigal and Glenveagh National Park. And there is a very nice local pub about 20min up the road!

    Rebecca2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely room, very clean with a wonderful view and it really is in a lovely area (quiet but beautiful). Molly looked after us so well and cooked us a great breakfast as well as being lovely to chat to. Fabulous local pub for food too!

  • A lovely spot with some really outstanding views.

    Danny2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • AWESOME! We can only recommend staying with Molly, Mary's Mother. A lovely lady with a very nice family home. Easy and nice to chat with. Delicious breakfast. And a good impression of their daily life. Mary is also very nice and helpful with local info. Don't be astonished, the upstairs unit is laid out with carpet, which confused us, especially in the bathroom. But all very clean. You all have sea view from your room and breakfast table but maybe have to drive to dinner or a pint. All in all: VERY NICE PEOPLE, we would stay there again

Our place is located at the end of a quiet, peaceful lane and has unrestricted views of the Derryveagh Mountains in West Donegal. It is a perfect base for walkers and climbers, writers and artists or for those looking for a peaceful break from the busy world. We are both hill walkers and climbers and have an indepth knowledge of the outdoor possibilities in this part of Donegal.
Our place is a small cottage with three rooms and a bathroom with a toilet and electric shower. One bedroom has a double bed and the second room has two single beds. A foam mattress is available on request. It has its own entrance and parking area. It has its own small garden and outdoor eating area.
The cottage is located in a very rural area near small sheep farms and bogland. It is a five minute drive to the nearest shop and pub, 10 minutes to the nearest beach and twenty minutes to Dunfanaghy which has a surf school, many restaurants and pubs. It is surrounded by the Derryveagh Mountains so there are endless hill walking possibilities. Sea cliffs and sea stacks are a twenty minute drive away for those interested in rock climbing. There are also numerous water-based activity options on the many rivers, lakes and the Atlantic Ocean. Our place is also the base of Unique Ascent, an adventure company run by Iain Miller who specialises in rock climbing, sea cliff climbing and sea stack climbing.
  • Lovely people hosting the most loveliest cabin, With the most stunning view of the mountain. Caoimhe has thought of everything! • A large , comfortable, modern house with all amenities. We had the upstairs room which was very private. Full use of a very well equiped kitchen was a real bonus. The house is in a lovely, quiet rural setting with convenient parking and easy access along the country roads. Chris, who looked after us was most friendly and helpful with loads of good tips. He made us very welcome.

    Philip2019-08-22T00:00:00Z

  • David's place is fantastic. He wasn't at the place when we arrived but his parents were there to host us and they were very very nice and welcoming with us. David's father came to pick us up to the bus stop and both he and his mother made our stay very comfortable. The place is sparkling clean. The room has its own bathroom with shower and the views are great. The location is also very good for those into hiking. We took from the house an alternative route to the Glenveagh National Park which was brilliant: through lakes, hills, wildlife and almost not a soul. In two hours and a half walking you can make it to Glenveagh Castle but without the cars and buses around. We would definitely recommend to anybody.

A newly renovated farmhouse on a working farm. An ideal spot to relax. The house is well placed for visiting Glenveagh National Park, Derek Hill Art Gallery, Ards monastery and Forest Park, Dunfanaghy , Falcarragh, Gweedore, Poison Glen, Errigal and Letterkenny etc.
  • The farmhouse had everything we needed for a quite get away- surrounded by fields & tranquillity. Micheal met us when we arrived as Bridie was away for a few days- he gave us many tips on what to see/do in the area & explained everything we needed to know about the house- lighting fires etc- even offered to keep our fire going of we were out for a while which was very sweet. Great location too- very close to Mt Errigal, Glenveagh National park & a short car ride to lough salt, dunfanaghy, horn head & general beautiful scenery. We will likely be back at some stage :)

    Lisa2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had 2 nights here over New Years. This is a lovely traditional farmhouse that has been carefully modernised so that it retains it's old style feel but has the comforts of warmth and a hot shower. It is in a great location so it is easy to get to the mountains for walking or to the coast for the stunning beaches and coastal walks. Shops are nearby and there are lots of good places to eat and drink, and interesting things to do. The hosts, Bridie and her husband, are very helpful, friendly and promptly responded to all messages. They even had the fire lit before we arrived! The little personal welcoming features when we arrived were wonderful. We would strongly recommend staying in this fabulous house.

  • Really lovely cottage highy recommend. Warm welcome bottle of wine, fruit loaf milk water etc, enough coal and logs for our stay. The bed was very comfortable, house clean and tidy. We got to meet Seamus on our stay.

  • This is my second time having spent 10 days over the Christmas period with Moya and Seamus. I came back this year because of the comfort, peace and quiet, and all the thoughtful touches which I really appreciated during my first stay. I think what I love the most about this place is how it's perfectly located close to Letterkenny but on the edge of utterly beautiful wilderness - the best of both worlds. Moya gave me lots of suggestions for things to do throughout my stay, but I also had total peace and quiet which I needed to work. This is an ideal get-away for anyone needing to write or study. And there's just so much to see and do locally that I feel like I will keep wanting to come back again and again. Thanks again to superb hosts for a lovely Christmas and start to 2020. Evelyn

  • We absolutely loved staying here and would definitely stay again. The cottage is wonderfully cosy and had everything we needed, plus lots of extra touches that we really appreciated, particularly the welcoming foody things and the large collection of music and books. The location was peaceful and it made a great base for exploring the area - thanks a million!

  • We arrived in the evening time and the weather was awful outside, the apartment was so cosy and the lights were on ready for us. We had our 17 month old son with us and it was perfect for him with a high chair left out for us and a travel cot. There was literally nothing we were left wanting for during our stay. Thank you for the food also! Great to be able to have a cuppa when we arrived! We would love to stay again!

  • A lovely clean modern 2 bed apartment with secure parking. Bridie our host was very welcoming and nothing was a bother. She had the fridge and cupboards stocked with all the basic essentials i.e breakfast cereals, tea sugar, milk, butter and best of all her homemade treacle bread. I highly recommend Bridie and Paul's place if visiting Letterkenny.

  • Nice, cosy and quiet place after a long day outside exploring the nature around the Co Donegal. Place was nice, clean and cosy, Majella is very nice lady, quick response to our messages, well organized with everything. Highly recommend.

    Zane2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place. Very convenient though a little challenging to find. Very welcoming host.

    Dylan2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We cannot overstate how perfect our stay was at the Ash Treehouse. We got in unexpectedly late, but Majella was fabulous and had great communication for checking in, with a lockbox option in case we arrived when she was out. The space is sparkling clean, charming, sunny, with loads of thoughtful touches. Hair dryer and straightener were a lovely find, maps and tourism booklets, extra shampoos and soaps, the works. Great water pressure in the shower and a wonderful bed-- we slept so well! There was also a lovely breakfast spread with scones, jams, coffee, tea, cereal, as well as more treats in the mini fridge. The best part of our stay was absolutely Majella and her family. We're generally pretty shy and she was marvelous about giving us space and privacy, but also being responsive and welcoming. On our second night, we stayed up to chat with everyone downstairs over some tea which was absolutely lovely. The whole family was so funny and kind and easygoing. Thank you for the wonderful visit! Very very highly recommended, if we find ourselves in Donegal again we will 100% be staying here.

    Carrie2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is my third time staying at Majellas home and again I have been looked after very well. Would definitely recommend and revisit this home to anyone staying in the area. Majella is very friendly and welcoming and is the perfect Airbnb host.

  • Majella has been a great host, very communicative and she provided us with everything that we needed. She even baked fresh scones upon our arrival! The room is spacious and very comfortable. Guests have water, food, tea and coffee available. The bathroom was spotless. A great value and I would totally recommend it to other guests.
