Finding the house was a bit of an adventure, but Kirsten graciously met us on the road to help direct us to the parking. Ikuko was helpful and already started communicating with me on my arrival plans 2-3 days before my stay. On the day of my arrival she kept constant communications and asking how I was - it made me feel welcomed. On the room itself, the attic room is very special and quaint. I loved the whole set up. It felt like a little adventure out of a Harry Potter book climbing into your room. Though the surroundings are peaceful, there could be a little noise from the cars and night train. Make sure you bring some ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. The convenience store just across the street makes life much easier! I also loved the simple but nice breakfast. Eating right beside the kitchen where the hosts are preparing coffee and breakfast gave me a homely feel. I also caught the view of Mount Fuji just from the second floor beside the kitchen! It was a fantastic stay and I would highly recommend this place.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the artistic studio at Epinard. Ikuko and her husband Masami were very welcoming and made us feel at home right away. From picking us up at the train station to dropping us off and helping us get on the right train on the way out of town, they were there for us whenever we needed. We spent a lot of time and ate all meals together (homemade Japanese food that was delicious), and really got to know each other. They have three sons, two of which we had the chance to meet and eat with. Lovely family and very open with us. The loft itself was a neat space - very Bohemian and artsy. Felt kind of like cottaging/camping for those of you out there that enjoy that. As other reviews say, the washroom is a bit of a trek in the middle of the night if you need to use it, but that was our only issue (and it was only a minor inconvenience). Would stay here again if given the opportunity.

Already trying to figure out a way to get back to Oiso. This town captured my heart. Surrounded by mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Masami and Ikuko are generous, warm hosts. They care deeply about community. They made us breakfast every morning and on Saturday they had a dinner party followed by live music. Three days here was not enough time.

Beautiful traditional style house with very well equipped kitchen. Kosuke was an excellent host who picked us up from the station, he also offered to take us back to the station on the day we left. We also ate at Kosuke's restaurant in the town center which was a beautifully decorated small style pizzeria. Would recommend to anyone visiting in the future.

It's a wonderful traditional Japanese house that has everything we need like clean, roomie, big sitting room, well facilitated kitchen, beautiful garden, cute balcony full of sunshine...... Same as the host says there is a very nice Hot Spring w mountain Fuji view located five minutes driving away and delicious Japanese restaurant nearby. The owner is very polite and offer warm hospitality. Definitely we will come back some time in future!

We were very pleased with our stay at Kosuke's lovely place. The cottage may look old but it offers all modern necessities that will guarantee a comfortable stay. It is very spacious for a family of three or four; the cooking set at the kitchen is comprehensive enough for a nice meal and there's a great supermarket only 10 mins away by walking. Gotenba is a beautiful small town with tons of hidden gems to explore (e.g., the amazing Royal park near the cottage. Kosuke is a friendly host and has helped us a lot during our stay. I highly recommend his place for whoever wants to get a taste of authentic Japanese-style living.

It's definitely a wonderful Japanese cottage with beautiful scenery and all equipments. Kosuke is a nice person. He picked us up and showed the supermarket and bus station in the city to us by his car. The cottage locates on a very good place, really close to the station where we can take the bus to different spots, such as Outlets, Hakone and other Japanese cities. We had impressive experience in the cottage and recommend it to all the tourists.

Stepping into Kosuke-san 's cottage is like stepping into the past. It's an interesting exerience living in an old Japanese home. The cottage is on the outskirt of a quaint neighborhood. The day we arrived, there was a neighbourhood carnival, which was very cool to visit. This property is probably best for 6 to 8 person. It felt a little too quiet even when there were 4 of us. Kosuke-san was really kind. He picked us up from the bus interchange the day we checked in and dropped us off at the premium outlet when he heard that was our destination.

she was quick to respond to our messages and help reassure us as we made our way to her listing. she even picked up the tab for out taxi from the bus station since she couldn't pick us up. it was so kind. the school/apartment itself is awesome. my son and i loved it! it felt like the japanese version of overnight sleepovers in your elementary school(if you ever had those). the futons were not the MOST comfortable, but my japanese standards, really good and since they were on tatami mats, made it authentic and that much more comfortable. again, this really only applies to westerners and those accustomed to sleeping on super cushy beds. the location turned out to be a nice surprise. its a bit far from tokyo, but really close to super cool areas like kamakura and enoshima island. also, close to the beach!(which, if its not rainy season, is awesome!) also, we had a lot of fun teaching a group of miho's adorable students and their moms. we are english teachers and so it was fun to do that in japan. its super close to a convenient store, which is where we ate most of our breakfasts :) (try the egg salad sandwich, chocolate biscuit cookies, melon bread, onigiri and basically everything else in the store it was all so tasty! visiting with miho was fun and even though she didn't live there, she made a point to come by and visit to make us feel welcome. she drew us lots of maps, too haha. and because she didn't have anyone coming the day we left, she let us have a super late checkout! she was very accommodating. overall a fun area and a great hostess.

Miho made Hiratsuka an impressive stay for us! In this 'smaller' town at the periphery of the conglomeration Tokyo / Yokohama most people do not understand English. We received a message from our host indicating that she was working when we arrived (while we were in the hours data) and that the front door would be open. Takahashi was a great host! He was able to meet us at the train station and had bikes for us to use. We were late getting in due to us missing our connecting train but he was extremely gracious about it. His home was amazing and had everything we need. He explained everything in great detail and made us feel at home. Oiso was a cute little town and a nice getaway from busy Tokyo. We wished we stayed longer!

The area was nice but a bit sparsely lit with local supermarkets, conbini and fast food places all within walking distance. The main Street was newly paved and replete with weekend cyclist and bicyle commuters. There's also apparently a local special built bicycle park with a minimal entrance fee. If you head east and towards the coast, there is a significant surfing culture taking advantage of the local waves and families enjoying weekend festivals. The house itself is large and spacious with nice beds and warm comforters. Owner has a dog that he stated barks. If your a dog person, you may only hear 'Koro' bark once or twice. He enjoys attention but is quite shy even around dog people...

We had a great stay in Oiso, the host even picked up our baggage first and later us, so he came to the station twice!

Takahashi-san was a very good host who ensured that my family and I were able to find his house, even if that meant riding out to meet us on a bicycle after sunset. Location-wise, it takes about 20 minutes of walking to get to his place from the train station and has slopes along the way. It can be quite taxing for older persons. Takahashi-san was also very thorough in explaining the usage of various household facilities. It was also very kind of him to allow us to use his bicycles to get around. His flexibility with the check out time was also very much appreciated. House is pleasant, clean, and in a very quiet neighbourhood. loved the traditional Japanese room with tatami mats and mattresses! Thank you for the hospitality (:

Clean and cozy I traveled here from Tokyo because I needed a break from the city. This was the perfect place for me to find that break. Kind and generous host, relaxing environment with several parks nearby to hike around and explore. The bike was my favorite feature. One day I biked around for at least six hours exploring.. Go to Japan so many times, this is the first time I stayed B & B, very lucky I met Yumiko-san, this time choosing to stay here two nights, so I told my mom left a very good memory. House is like the photo on the website ㄧ like ~ clean and comfortable, there are two close to the people, lovely cat, focusing Yumiko-san is also very intimate + + attentive enthusiasm, in addition to the station, pick-up, every morning will be great preparation breakfast, really recommend if we allow the itinerary, you can go to experience the passion Yumiko san yo!

Yumi is a very good friend, we went to the Hiratsuka Station, she was at the station waiting for us, and car to take us to her house, the house layout is very warm, she prepared us a very tasty breakfast and sent us to station. Her two kittens are very cute, and we will live to Japan after her house, we will introduce a lot of friends to her house. We will remember her pleasant exchange in the house, we have repeatedly invited her to take a look at China. Thanks to her care.

Spacious, inspiring and cozy house near beach. We were 4 adults + 3 kids and every each of us LOVED the place ! We didn't get to meet the owners Yuko and Gary but they were very nice and responsive. Thanks again for making our trip awesome !

What a great place! We were a family of 5 staying in this beautiful house for 4 nights. We felt immediately at home in this spacious and cosy house. The neighbourhood is really nice, and you have transport, the sea, shops and restaurants in walking distance. Communication with Gary was flawless and he replied quickly when we had questions. We sure hope to come back soon!

To the sea and the train station a short walk away is a quiet residential area. It is moreover widely fashionable and comfortable. I think I want to stay everyone is also liked by the family.

This is a wonderful home located about equal distance between Chigasaki station and Southern Beach. The town has a nice vibe, plenty of neat shops, variety of restaurants, lots of coffee shops, some live music venues. The house is in a quiet residential area that you reach on a charming little footpath. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided. Pictures represent exactly what the property is like - it's lovely! Within quick walking distance were a few park/play areas for children. The beach is a short walk. It's not the sandy beaches of Shimoda, but it's also a LOT closer to Tokyo.

There were several problems with the stay at Kozue's place. - There was the odor of a dead animal or some sort of mold coming from the kitchen sink - The key was incredibly hard to retrieve - The breaker was turned off when I arrived, and I was not warned of this - The shower curtain was only halfway attached in the bathroom, and I had to reattach it - There was no location to hang laundry - The provided frying pan was not compatible with the electric stove - The lightbulb in the bathroom broke after the third day Otherwise, the apartment is in an excellent location, only 5 minutes from Hiratsuka Station.
