This home was built by my family in 1916 when they moved to Texas from Alabama to claim land granted to them for fighting in the Battle of San Jacinto. Martha Cunningham didn't want to move to Texas unless she could have a home built like her Aunt Idora's plantation home. The home is close to 2 wineries, an olive oil company, a beautiful golf course, 4 parks and numerous pecan companies. The home has been restored with much of the original furniture and hard wood floors. It also has a great pool!
“Everything was great. Everything we needed was provided. We wanted a quiet get away from the city with my family and this was perfect. The house is a fun old home will a lot of original touches. The pool was fantastic. We could sit out all day in the Texas summer heat without worrying about sunburns. There was even a bathroom out there so you didn't have to dry off and go back inside. We spent every evening reading in the rocking chairs on the second floor veranda. Even on 90+ degree days, there was a nice breeze up there in the evening to keep comfy. Martha provided some local treats as well, which was a nice touch. We'd definitely go back.”
Need a place to unwind from busy city life? Look no further! This quaint cabin outside of San Saba sits on the Colorado River in a natural setting, and is a great place for fishing, kayaking, campfires & star-gazing. Enjoy daytrips to the surrounding Hill Country attractions. Visit San Saba's famous pecan shops & San Saba River Golf Course, Lampasas dining & sulphur springs pool, or Colorado Bend State Park (fishing, hiking, biking, caverns, Gorman Falls, & the white bass run Jan-April).
“Lovely secluded place, clean and all the amenities you need. Each room has separate min-split AC systems, so everyone can customize their sleeping temp! Good Wifi - no cable/satellite, but could probably use your own Roku/streaming device (we didn't try). DVD's and games available, as well. Easy access to the river and nice mowed area to walk around the property. Can drive close to the river for those that cannot walk very good. Less than 10 minutes to San Saba.”

“We enjoyed a relaxing and peaceful stay in this large house. It is conveniently located on the major thoroughfare of town, and the traffic was low later in the evening. The neighborhood behind the house was fun to walk. We also walked to the grocery and the taco house across the street for a delicious breakfast. The furnishings, including the bed, are very comfortable. We had everything we needed here.”
